You have to try their $20 burger! I have tried almost everything on their menu and nothing disappoints. My husband and I love the beautiful drive up to this place. The staff are so much fun and make you feel like you're apart of a family, every visit we've never had a dull moment. The servers definitely have a sense of urgency. You can either sit at a table with your family or hang out at the bar. Hands down, best place around!

Great food, great drinks, friendly atmosphere, cosy inside and stunning view outside. Highly recommend the chicken & bacon wrap and the Eggs Benedict.

Such a beautiful cozy location! There's nothing more that I love then original architect with some required updates-if needed. We had the honor to meet the owners & learn some history about Hams Station. We ordered the "Nancys wrap". A flavorful, crunchy meal wrapped in love. Hope to stop by & visit soon. We were welcomed so warmly & felt the legendary customer service

    Best bloody Mary's around!

What a gem this place is! Everything that comes on your plate is cooked with love! Fresh and largely portioned, you're bound to walk away full. The family who owns the place and their entire team are one of the most hospitable groups you'll ever encounter. They love what they're doing, and it shows. Eat outside on the patio, the view is outstanding. They do get busy, so bring a little patience during rush time and enjoy an amazing Bloody Mary or a local draft beer. It's an amazingly unique experience that can't be compared. Oh and P.S. we stayed at one of their historic cabins on the property and it was such a cozy homey stay. We got to enjoy a private deck with one of the best views in the area:) Thank you team! We really appreciated everything that you do here!

Today we noticed Chef Bobby set up a grill in the parking lot, in front of the restaurant. That's a great welcome!

Yesterday, my "foodie" friend and I paid a visit to Ham's Station, after over a year. What an amazing restaurant! Thanks to the COVID-19 scare, I've hardly left home in the last couple months, but "good winds" are starting to blow my way, and Amador County, along with many other rural counties in California have lifted most dining restrictions, so it's back to dining the way dining is meant to be. Today was a perfect day to pay a visit to Ham's Station, owned and operated by the Gladen family, and to enjoy barbecue, which is one of the famous offerings that Ham's Station is noted for. Chef Bobby had up his grill in the parking lot, in front of the restaurant, which made for a friendly greeting. He grills using oak and madrone wood, which grow locally. He mentioned that he uses pine - which is softwood and not suitable for grilling - to get the oak and madrone started. It's "old school" grilling, and it's great! Since today was Friday, and during late spring, summer and early fall, Friday IS barbecue at Ham's Station, we went with barbecue. We asked Chef Bobby for a combination of meat the meat he was cooking, and Jody brought us a "plate for two," complete with pulled pork, brisket and chicken, all hot off the grill. Our meat was served "family style" which is the way Adrienne and I "roll" when we dine together. Our sides of potato salad and beans arrived separately, in individual size cups. Chef Bobby is an expert when it comes to all things "kitchen," and when he's outdoors at the smoker, or the grill, he creates masterpieces. The grilled chicken, pulled pork and brisket were seasoned, marinated, and grilled "just right," over oak and madrone wood, which grows locally, and provided "just the right amount" of smoky taste, without being overpowering. All cuts of meat were tender, juicy, and delicious. We LOVED all of it!! Just for the record, if you are a "fan" of barbecue, you'll know there are several genres of barbecue, and this delicious meat was grilled as "California," or "Santa Maria" style barbecue. Whatever you want to call it, this barbecue was delicious! I helped myself to pulled pork, brisket and chicken from the "family style" platter, pulled off the top of my beans and potato salad, took a few bites, and realized that I HAD to take a photo of my amazing lunch! As I mentioned before, the meat was grilled over oak and madrone, in the "Santa Maria" genre of barbecue, which is indigenous to California. Bobby's tangy, saucy, delicious in-house made barbecue sauce put this lunch "over the top!" The meat was the star of the lunch but all barbecue meals at Ham's Station include a side of potato salad and beans. I am a lover of all things "beans" and "potato salad," so I was a happy diner! Bobby's potato salad was red potatoes, cut into chunks, with the skin still on, which is the way I like it. Like all potato salad, it had the usual chopped onion, celery, pickle, mustard and mayonnaise. But, like everything Chef Bobby produces, this potato salad was tangy, delicious, and was some of the best potato salad that I've had the pleasure to enjoy for YEARS!!! Like the potato salad, the beans were made from "scratch," and were pinto beans, cooked in a thick, tangy red sauce. These beans could be described as "cowboy beans," as they're the kind of beans that you'd enjoy around the campfire, after a long day on the cattle drive, on the old Chisholm trail. Delicious beans! It was amazing to enjoy Chef Bobby's wonderful barbecue, chat again with Jody and little Georgia, and meet sister Amy. The Gladen family is as friendly as it gets, Chef Bobby has awesome culinary talent, and the food and friendly atmosphere are as good as it gets! Ham's Station receives another vote from me for fine dining in Amador County... Delicious food, rustic atmosphere, and the Gladen family, which own and operate the restaurant are are amazingly friendly, and will treat you as family. This fine roadhouse rates 5-stars, all the way!

There's the Onion Burger. A legend.

It's pretty much right next to the freeway. However, the parking lot is slightly dark at night though. I haven't been to this location in well over a decade but last time I came I remember there used to be peanut shells everywhere, perhaps they don't do that anymore. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and seated right away. To our surprise, there was a person making balloon animals for patrons. The ambiance was nice, it had regulars at the bar making small talk with the workers and a group in the party room. The regulars looked so happy to be there, and now I know why. Their country playlist was insane because they played nothing but bangers. I swear I shazamed like 20 songs while there to add to my playlist. They had plenty of TVs watching a plethora of games which was nice because they were showing the beam team play #LIGHTTHEBEAM Our server Lety was spectacular! She came by multiple times to see how we were doing. There was never a second where we were left needing something. She was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. We received our food in under 10 minutes which was nice. The flavor was surprisingly good. I couldn't recall what the flavor would be like since it was a while since my last visit but I thought it would be similar to a Chilis or Applebees but was shocked when I had my first bite. The steak was flavored very well and wasn't tough at all. Their ranch was also really good and creamy. It complimented well with the onion rings and sweet potatoes fries which were warm and crunchy. And what can I say about the dinner rolls? They might be the most valuable asset known to humanity. They are ever so soft, sweet, warm, and the butter on top hits you like a truck on the freeway going 75mph. What makes the rolls better is that they are included with your meal! The water was arctic tundra cold. In general, the meal was 10/10 slap your mother good. I left feeling very full after coming in pretty much starved. The prices were actually really good. I fully expected to drop like $40+ here but was happy to walk out for $27. Sides were like $3, in this economy those prices are almost unheard of! I'm making this a ($) for me due to its affordability. I most certainly will be back. Bottom line/TLDR: tasty food and great service!

The menu features all the classic roadhouse favorites you'd expect. We visited with a party of 12, and our server did a great job keeping up with our large group. I will say that there was only one other table with patrons during our visit. So, I can't speak to the service when they are busy. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the service remained attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the carnitas tacos, which come with your choice of French fries or chips and salsa. I went with the chips and salsa. The meal includes two tacos, and they're much larger than traditional street tacos. I'd estimate they're about twice the size. The carnitas had great flavor and were served nice and hot. My only complaint was the amount of grease in each taco. Each time I picked up a taco, grease continuously dripped out at a steady rate for several seconds, making them a bit messy to eat. The chips were fresh with a satisfying crunch, and the salsa was flavorful. It paired well with both the chips and the tacos. Overall, the tacos were good, but I don't feel they justified the $18 price tag. Even so, I'd come back and give the restaurant another try, as there are several other items on the menu that looked worth ordering.

Now they hand you small bags of peanuts, small buckets for the shells, and the floor stays a lot cleaner. We stopped in on a Sunday night after a local IDPA match at Sac Valley. Surprisingly, there were plenty of open seats, so we grabbed two and let the hostess know we were set. The bartender greeted us almost immediately. We kicked things off with a couple of tall boys, an order of fried pickles (I'm a sucker for these and order them almost every time they appear on a menu), and of course some roasted peanuts. For my main, I was in a surf-and-turf mood and went with the 10 oz sirloin and grilled shrimp, plus a baked potato and Caesar salad. The sirloin was about what you'd expect for the price--not the most flavorful or tender cut, but it was cooked properly and satisfied the craving. The shrimp were a mixed bag: a bit overcooked and chewy, though they were bathed in garlic butter and came with a garlic aioli-style dipping sauce. The potato arrived crusted in salt and loaded with toppings. The Caesar came pre-tossed and leaned a little too heavy on the creamy/dairy side, but I still finished every bite. One thing I love about Texas Roadhouse is that you always know what you're going to get.

For a moment, we thought we had walked into Ruth's Chris! I honestly wanted to leave, but I didn't want to embarrass my other half. She ordered the 16-ounce prime rib dinner for $48 and asked for it as rare as they were willing to serve it. I ordered the smoky bbq bacon Burger for $23 and requested it medium done. The first prime rib they brought out was surprisingly small, extremely fatty, and well done--not even close to what she ordered. My burger was also cooked well done. I ate it because I didn't want to wait for another one, but she sent the prime rib back. The replacement was much better and properly cooked, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. The service was disappointing as well. My water glass sat empty for the last 30 minutes we were there, and nobody offered to refill it. She also tried the mashed potatoes for the first time, and we both thought they were terrible. They had a strange sweet, mayonnaise-like flavor that did not belong in mashed potatoes. Our bill was approximately $100 for one prime rib dinner, one burger, and no drinks other than water. At those prices, the food and service should have been much better. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to this location again.
