Have been here two times now and experienced excellent food and good service both times. We went for the all you can eat option. We ordered a ton of food, which had to remove the waiter of one or two dishes, but being we ordered a dozen things, I'm not upset by it at all. The food was delicious!! I'm truly impressed by how great everything tasted. The enoki mushrooms were to die for!! The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive and friendly. It was a la carte style which I loved. The ambiance was pleasant and lovely to look at. They even had a big screen playing music videos with lyrics which made it an overall fun experience! My family and I have always gone to New Fortune (now named Hong Kong Pearl in Gaithersburg for 20+ years and that place is WAY BETTER (save your money and go there!!) The crab fried rice is all cute and fancily presented in a gold crab but there was barely any crab and the rice was bad. The portion sizes are small and only 3 pieces are served per dish... Overall, would rate this 1/10 and we're not coming back. read more

We got seated pretty quickly and helped which was good. The atmosphere is nice and spacious. The server rarely checked up on the table though. Everything here is extremely overpriced for what you are getting. $20 for a small portion of crab fried rice which barely contained crab. The food was alright but not enough to justify the price, and definitely not enough to be considered a nice restaurant. Until there is a price adjustment or portion size adjustment I will not be going back. read more

I had been eagerly anticipating the opening of this location for months, and I was thrilled to finally visit this past Sunday. Although I didn't have a reservation and had to wait 40 minutes for a table, I was perfectly fine with that. The real issue began after we were seated. Once we were sat down, we received no service for an extended period. It took 20 minutes for a server to drop off water without even saying hello or giving us a chance to ask any questions, as they immediately walked away. Fifteen minutes later, the same server returned and asked if we had been helped. We said no and were excited to finally get started. We were ready to order the All You Can Eat option, only to be told it wasn't available on weekends--something that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu. If this option isn't offered on weekends, I don't understand why we were even given the menu showing it. After waiting over 30 minutes just to find this out, we decided it wasn't worth staying. I'm willing to give it another try on a weekday, hoping the experience will be better. However, based on this first visit, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. read more

20% gratuity required not acceptable. Over priced for what it is for sure. Many dim sum places in the area this pricing structure is ridiculous. Food quality is mediocre. Taro was just gross. Shrimp steamed dumplings cold inside. Service as bad as some of their other locations. Hence a 20% gratuity for them to have an additute instead of customer service is awful. The food here was a little above average. The servers were very abrupt and did not come back to the table often. Our waiter was arguing with a waitress because he was working by himself. He followed her around to argue about it in front of all of the customers. I don't speak the language but it was obvious what he was talking about. It took forever to get our orders. It got to the point that we thought that they forgot us. They tried to give another table my food twice. When they said that it wasn't theirs, they threw it away. They give you a carafe of water for the table. I watched the waiter combine left over water from other tables to refill the water for our table. I thought that I just missed something. He went to a table that just left and picked up their carafe. He combined the water from a few other carafes to fill that one. I watched him walk over to another table and give that carafe to that customer. They has got to be a violation!! read more

I'd give a 0 start if I could but I do not recommend this place. I went there to eat with a friend and we selected the unlimited dim sum menus. We arrived and the place was not busy. We places our 1st order and received only half of it. We were also left waiting for 40 min. We asked another server to get our server twice and not once did he stop by our table. We decided to leave and decided to get cashed out as we only had three dishes to our order and these are small serving and we are told we will be charged a la carte (for a full meal for each order) which did not make sense. This was changed after speaking with the server multiple. He added a $20 tip on a $30 bill. My friend asked to speak with a manager and the staff kept being dismissive. We ended up going somewhere else to eat dinner. read more

I and 2 friends went a couple weeks ago for Sunday lunch. The food was so delicious and flavorful (very important for each of us). The service was almost overly attentive. We had read the early reviews and concluded Han Spot was making the extra effort to counter that impression. They succeeded. :). We will come back. There are so many interesting things on the menu. We only tried a handful. Don't miss the cucumbers! My favorite is the cuttlefish. The place where I use to get them closed so now Han Spot is my spot!! read more

Went on a Saturday evening and they deemed disorganized at the host table. It took a while to get a waiter but I immediately ordered the bottomless drinks only to be told the bartender is too backed up so you probably won't get your money's worth. We ordered a beer and 20 minutes later was still waiting. I asked about the chicken to see if it was breast or thighs and said it just comes in a bag so I'm not sure. We ordered a lo mein and a chicken dish. The lo mein showed up and 10 minutes later still waiting for the chicken and the beer from 30 minutes before. I tried the lo mein and tasted like typical buffet lo mein so nothing special. They said the other meal is going to be a while so now the lo mein would get cold. At that point we just left. We were the only people seated outside for an early dinner- inside was not busy either- it took over 10 minutes before I finally made eye contact with a server who came over and finally attended us. He was not helpful when we were asking about different items to order. He was very dismissive. Our food came out very fast... but it was absolutely horrible. Hardly edible. It was also cold!?? We had to flag down more servers to ask for small Plates and chopsticks. The dessert was probably the worst. He would drop off our dishes and run away not even taking a moment to explain which was which or when look to see that we didn't have plates or chopsticks/utensils. The food was not good at all. My husband and I ate here Saturday night (8/24) and were very excited to try the unlimited dim sum. Food was delicious but the service was absolutely horrendous and appeared very inconsistent across tables. Honestly probably the worst experience I have ever had service-wise. Ambiance was meh. Decor looked cheap to me, but they did make an effort. We waited at least 15 minutes after being seated to be greeted, with no water. When the waiter finally showed up, we ordered the unlimited dim sum and he stated it was not available on weekends. As other reviewers have noted, there was nothing on the menu stating that the unlimited dim sum was not offered on weekends. Not sure why we were even given the menu with this option prominently presented. We asked for some water and tea, and more time to order our food. It took another 15-20 minutes for us to receive our tea and water and have our order taken. We ordered soup dumplings, seafood noodles, and orange chicken. A few minutes later we also asked the waiter to add the steamed pork buns to our order. The pork buns came out within 5 minutes. We then waited at least another 35 minutes for the soup dumplings and seafood noodles to be brought out. Our orange chicken came out 25 minutes after that. I did notice that 2 other tables who were sat after we arrived were helped quickly (within 5 minutes of being seated) and their orders were brought out to them well before we got any of our food. In fact, both tables had arrived, ordered, eaten and left before we even got all of our food brought to us. In addition, several times we were brought food other tables had ordered, so I wonder if there was a problem with expediting orders in the kitchen. It also could have been our waiter. He was young (late teens/early 20's), just didn't seem to care about what he was doing, and not at all apologetic to the fact that we had been left sitting for so long or that we had to wait so long for our food. Other waiters were assisting with all his tables. I also should note that the restaurant was not busy during the time we were there. I hope the restaurant management sees these reviews and takes notice. The consistency of service needs improvement, or this restaurant will not do well. read more

The service was terrible; they never cleared the dirty plates until you leave. The waiter only comes to the table at the beginning and to bring the food, but after that, he never comes back. They didn't bring us all the food, and while we were waiting for the bill, there were two tables where people had been waiting for over 30 minutes, and since no one came to attend to them, they left. I am so glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews and I went ahead and tried this place anyway last night. I got the $48 all you can eat and tried so many dishes, including soup dumplings (small but delicious), beef dumplings (fried perfectly) hot and sour soup (so good I got another bowl for dessert), sour cucumbers (good but not as sour as I'm used to), pork buns (tasty but would have liked a different sauce with it), egg rolls (fried perfectly with meat and veges), shrimp and walnuts (huge shrimp!), Peking duck (very good, we learned they prepare it daily and with special care, the skin was crispy, the meat tender and the hoisin sauce was tangy and thick. And it has nice thin pancakes), Han special filet mignon (crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside, my only complaint is that it was a small portion but that can be solved by ordering 2 which I'll do next time), string beans (the only dish that was just OK), Mapo tofu (good, could have been spicier), pineapple fried rice (I wish it was served in a shelled out pineapple but no biggie at all, it was good with large shrimp), and beef chow fun noodles (my fav dish - so tasty and had dry noodles). Ryan took amazing care of us, he was so personable, was checking to make sure we liked all the dishes. He was constantly checking to see if we wanted to order more and making sure our tea and waters were filled. He was so passionate about the food answering questions about spiciness levels, preparation, popularity of a dish, etc. When the bill came, there was not an automatic 20% gratuity as stated clearly on the menu that there would be and I was glad for that so I could tip 25%.
