I am not from the orange county area and a friend was visiting and staying near there so I was looking for a goood korean restaurant. After searching I came across Han Yang and I am definitely making my way back! Food was so good! We had galbi tang, donkatsu and naengmyun and all three dishes exceeded expectations. Galbi tang had glass noodles and came with a bowl of rice, donkatsu was crispy and meaty with a side of cabbage salad which I loved. Lastly, naengmyun was cooked with a perfect texture not overcooked. Portions were all great, service was quick! I also loved how they served three different types of kimchi. It's busy but not crazy busy so you can expect to be seated in a somewhat timely manner. Anyway, get the galbitang. There's so much meat and it's so juicy and savory, no need to add any salt to the soup. Eat it with rice for maximum pleasure. Han Yang is a really popular Korean restaurant in Buena Park known for their Galbi Tang (short rib soup). It's a very light, clear broth and it's definitely one of the most popular dishes here amongst the mostly Korean clientele. It comes with a bowl of steamed rice, which you could enjoy with the stewed short ribs and aromatics in your soup. Though the soups are the most popular items here, what I often get from here is their pork katsu. They give you a large quantity, the meat is juicy, and the breading is nice and flaky. It's served with their "special sauce," really nicely prepared rice, miso soup, and a cabbage salad. If you aren't familiar with the items on the menu, this is a really safe bet and popular option. I think Bibimbap is one of the most comforting dishes ever and I definitely intend to try their version of this dish sometime soon. If you haven't tried bibimbap, I'd highly recommend that you try it someday. If you're dining in-house, you must have it in the sizzling plate so that your rice can get nicely crisped on the bottom of the heated bowl. Though I haven't had it here, it's generally a nice go-to dish at a korean restaurant if you don't know what to order! What I ordered last time that I really loved is their Bibim nangmyun (spicy mixed buckwheat noodles). They take their cold soba noodles and top it with a bunch of veggies, roasted sesame, boiled egg, and spicy sauce. You mix everything together and you eat it. The cold noodles with the mildly sweet/spicy heat is so refreshingly delicious. It is so good. It is such a nice contrast with the other hot dishes that are served here. The place is so popular that it can have a long wait. If you are not Korean, it can be challenging and intimidating; however, I assure you that this is worth it. Nothing says comforting like a bowl of hot soup, specifically galbi-tang. The short ribs were tender and the broth was full of umami so much so that I couldn't stop drinking it when I got full. The serving size is pretty generous and I took the rest of it to go. When I went to heat it up again the next day, I saw how much collagen was in the broth which is a reminder of how nutritious this meal is in addition to how good it tastes. The only odd thing was how gritty the green onions tasted, even when served fresh, but I'm pretty sure it was a fluke. I probably came at a peak time at 1 p.m. on a Saturday because the parking lot was packed. When I left though it was half empty. This place is so goooood!! I HIGHLY recommend. Around typical lunch/dinner hours they do get quite busy and so there will be a wait often times, but it is worth the wait :D. They have seating both inside and outside. There is a parking lot, but if it is busy you might have to wait to get a spot or park on the street. I always order the donkatsu (pork cutlet). The serving is HUGE!! It comes with miso soup, rice and sauce. This is so good. I always crave it. I have tried their yukgaejang and seollantang as well. These are yummy as well! I also really enjoy the kimchi that they serve the table. They do refills as well. Whenever I am visiting my family in OC, I always visit this restaurant. The ladies are pretty nice considering it's a Korean restaurant (Korean service and American service is just different). Ambiance is casual. I always order: pork katsu - not too thin, but large slice of pork perfectly crispy and not too greasy. Comes with cabbage salad Spicy beef soup - hangover cure. This soup in particular comes out in a large metal dish. Spicy soup with glass noodles and tender strips of beef that tears off. Kalbitang - short rib soup. Fattier and richer than ox tail soup. On one of my days off someone took me here for lunch. We came on a weekday around 1:30pm and there was no wait. There were a few parties inside but not very busy. I was pleasantly surprised that they had lots of different things on their menu. We were given a variety of kimchi banchan and some barley rice drink water. For lunch, we both shared their Yuk-Gae-Jang and Don-Katsu. The Yuk-Gae-Jang was a delicious large spicy beef and vegetable soup that can be asked to be made mild or extra spicy. Otherwise it comes medium spicy which I enjoyed. It was really good and was given with some rice. The Don-Katsu was a perfectly fried pork cutlet that was served with a yummy cabbage salad, miso soup and rice. It came with some house special sauce that was a little tangy and yummy. The food here is very affordable and the service was excellent. The food came out fairly quick and we had no complaints. The inside is very causal and is good for smaller or large parties. Nice Korean restaurant in Buena Park...one way in and one way out so be careful getting in and out of their parking lot. Ordered the dumpling soup with rice cake and bibimbap. Soup came with strips of beef, with some pieces being a bit tougher than others. The bibimbap was yummy as it still sizzled in the stone pot. Servers brought over iced tea and the food. The establishment is pretty small and the service is prompt but not super friendly. But nothing beats their galbitang! You should always expect a wait. Their donkatsu is delicious as well. Hanyang is a great spot to take someone who wants a hearty Korean soup or a just big portions in general. The service was very friendly and the waiting list when by really fast so there was no complaints on my end. They start you off with side dishes so you have something to eat while waiting for your food came out. I ordered the spicy beef soup which came with noodles and shredded beef. This is my personal favorite Korean soup but they're known for their beef rib soup. The beef rib soup has a big giant piece of meat on the bone still. It has a really good depth for a just being a bone broth but it also came with rice which made it really filling. Grocery shopping weekend. We wanted to make an attempt at gamjatang and needed Korean ingredients. This meant H Mart. Our favorite one is in Buena Park and to save time, we decided on eating breakfast out there before shopping. My wife did her usual Yelp search and found Han Yang which was opened early. We found parking in their small lot and stood patiently inside until a waitress was available. We were seated once a table opened up and were given menus and cups for cold barley tea. Without asking, they brought us plastic spoons and forks for our kids and a high chair for my son. The inside was nice and clean and the was a waitress busy refilling banchans. We ordered an intestine Sullungtang, a galbitang, a doganeetang, and a manduguk. One of the waitresses immediately brought out our banchans of fresh kimchi, radish, and two other side dishes. They were ridiculously fresh and well-seasoned. A little while later, our piping hot bowls of soup arrived. We customized the broth to our liking (with green onions and salt) and dove in. The broth was flavorful and complex with pork and beef notes infused in the clear broth. Somehow both light and rich. It paired well with the medium grain rice that it was served with. There was a generous portion which made sense why the price tag was high. The kids really enjoyed their manduguk and were saddened when they ate all their large dumplings and our glass noodles. Han Yang was perfect for the rainy weather! But it also happened to be the best Korean soup we have ever tried. The food and service are Han Yang is healing to the soul. The broth is beefy yet light and it's the perfect comfort meal. I love dipping the meat in that sauce they give you and having a spoonful of soup and rice. It's the best. My mate and I came here because we'd been craving Korean food on a Sunday, especially during the rainy weather we've been having, and Han Yang was perfect! This also happened to be one of the few Korean restaurants that was open on a Sunday. Conveniently located walking distance from OC's newly recognised Korea Town, we stopped here before making our way around the area. There was a bit of a wait with lots of Koreans waiting in line (which is a very good sign) when we arrived - it was about 30 minutes until my party of 2 were seated; you put your party count and name down on the piece of paper by the front of the door, and a member of the staff helps coordinate who seating based on availability. You can sit indoors or outside - thankfully the latter has heat lamps to keep you warm. Upon being seated, we got the refreshing & cold barley tea and the usual banchan offerings (nappa, radish, turnip, and sweet mustard kimchis); we ordered: - 쟁반비빔냉면 (Bibim Nangmyun): Spicy Mixed Buckwheat Noodles, Cold buckwheat noodle with 'House Special' sweet spicy sauce and chopped lettuce with sliced cucumber and toppings of boiled egg & roasted sesame. $20.99. Pro-tip: Don't wait too long to cut and mix your bibim nangmyun; pour over the oil and cut it right away so that the noodles don't stick to one another. - 육계장 (Yuk-Gae-Jang): Spicy Beef & Vegetable Soup, Traditional hot spicy beef soup, tasting buttery without actual butter addition, is pre-marinated with julienne brisket & variety of vegetables beforehand, served with steamed rice. $19.99. My mate and I were eating our yuk-gae-jang first and didn't mix & cut our bibim nangmyun, so one of the servers came over to ask if they wanted us to mix it because we weren't familia with it; we had to share with them that we were just being slow to getting to it as we wanted to finish the soup first (since we were a little cold) - really appreciated how kind and considerate they were. There's a free parking lot that's a part of the restaurant, but if you can't find parking in the lot, there's plenty of free street parking. Was off to the airport after wrapping a crowd filled, action packed week in Disneyland. Decided to hit up some Korean food to fill up for the day. We decided to check this place out as we had been years ago and saw it still hitting up good reviews. This place has a dedicated parking lot and it was packed when we showed up 30 minutes after opening. Make sure to put your name down on the pad especially when they are busy as they use it to call out the sequence of folks coming in. They have an outdoor patio seating area and internal restaurant seating. The service is efficient, and friendly and they were churning out food left and right with hustle and bustle. The menu can basically be broken down by Tangs (stews), bibimbaps, and then a donkatsu item because why not. The banchans come out and there are a variety of kimchi's and they were all tasty in their own ways. We decided to go with the dogani tang and the donkatsu and ordered a side of extra noodles. The extra noodles is literally a rice bowl full of noodles so make sure to mix in some soup so it doesn't get "clumpy". The dogani tang was flavored well and obviously tasted great with the kimchi. The Donkatsu (Korean style) is probably the best of this style that I have had. The breading on the outside was not overdone but still leaving the pork tender on the inside. Obviously good portions. All in all, enjoyed this place quite a bit. With this said, I will say the prices do seem a tad high for the items they were dishing out. read more
