Best sushi in Great Bridge. Service is top notch. Modernized ambiance atmosphere. Sushi is made fresh and all raw pieces of sushi are fresh and tasted perfect. Looking forward to the next time!

Really good-but too pricey compared to our normal place. Probably wouldn't be back when I can get AYCE.

I really gotta bump up my rating of Hanaki to a 5 star! Since we've moved to the area, it's become our go-to place for sushi since it's so close. It's not just the convenience that keeps us going back though. I am super impressed with how they are consistent through and through, whether we have dined in or made an order for takeout. The staff and sushi chefs are always nice and kind, very attentive and very prompt with all requests. They are always nice to our kids and bring the "kiddie" chopsticks for our youngest (still in training LOL). For the food, everything is always prepared with care and always fresh. My faves on the menu are yellowtail jalapeno, Hanaki platter, Sushi Deluxe, it just really depends what I am in the mood for. Their hot kitchen items are always great too. We've had everything from chicken, to beef, to shrimp and salmon. Most meals come with soup, salad and rice so the meals are always filling! It's a small restaurant, so we usually eat at the bar, but most of the time, we take it to go! So glad to have them so close! Stay safe, Friends!

Hidden Gem. Very consistent in good quality- taste- presentation. Everything is excellent. 500% recommend lunch or dinner here. You will not be disappointed.

Great sushi with very friendly, attentive staff! We have tried several of their rolls and never been disappointed. Their seafood soup is the best we have ever tried! Cute, clean store!

I ran through every 4-letter word in the book when Ang's Sushi in Greenbrier changed hands and went to AYCE. They were the highest quality, best service, top notch sushi bar in the area. We have looked for probably 2 years now for a good replacement sushi joint. Hanaki, so far, is a top runner. At the recommendation of friends, we used a recent date night to check out Hanaki. It is located in a strip shopping center near Harris Teeter next to a pilates studio. The sign is small and nondescript, so you'll miss it if you aren't looking carefully. We were seated at a table next to a boisterous couple and were able to move to another table near the doors. I will say the seating is a bit cramped given the layout. The tables flanking the entryway don't have much room so you will be able to hear every conversation next to you. I'd recommend they space things out, but I can see why so many tables - they were all full. We've been twice in 2 weeks and favorites so far were the Triple Fancy Maki (a great value which comes with miso soup and salad), Hanbury and Boston Rolls. Our daughter loved the chicken teriyaki and shrimp skewers. The Shumai was a slight disappointment as it was not hot when it arrived. The Blue Hawaiian was good, but needed a slightly thicker slice of mango and kiwi as neither had much flavor to bring to the party. Ang's Volcano roll still hasn't been bested - the one at Hanaki seemed slightly overfried. Hubby enjoyed a hot saki on our recent visit and I liked the Riesling. Service was good on both visits and, when busy, they definitely tag-team tables to make sure you have everything you need. Overall, two very good experiences and we are sure to return!

On the recommendation of a friend who goes here regularly...YUM! We all had cucumber salad...super fresh and super huge portion. Definitely enough to split! Yellowtail Tartare was not what I expected but absolutely delightful. We also had the Hallloween roll, the Fire Dragon Roll and the seared tuna dinner. All were wonderful. Having eaten sushi all over the country in my travels, this place was definitely one of the best, and very reasonably priced as well. It doesn't look like much from the outside but beautiful and cozy on the inside. Hope to be back in the area!

Fist time here as we are always searching for new options. Had the lovers boat and the sushi was good but I've had better lovers boat options in the past that came with more roll options. Service was good.

This is the best sushi my wife and I have found in all of Hampton Roads. The fish is fresh and delicious. Service is fast. We're so glad this place is close as it's been our favorite sushi date spot.

Seafood Carpaccio I could eat 10 of these, the sauce and the crunchy element along with the fresh fish make this a must have

This is my go to place for sushi! The staff are super friendly and the food comes out so fast. Great place for a date or a family meal. Some of our favorite items are the Fire Dragon roll, Treasury Roll, Squid salad, Peppered Tuna, Seafood Carpaccio, New Style Red Snapper and the Spicy Tuna bun.

Awesome sushi! The only place in Hampton Roads where I can actually get Toro and Uni. The Service and food quality was great.

We were seeking something quiet yet with a delicious menu which this place had that exactly. The restaurant is very small but has plenty of space to accommodate small or larger parties. The staff from the moment entering to leaving were extremely kind and eager to assist. The menu has tons to offer which is a nice change compared to other sushi/hibachi spots. The beef teriyaki bento box was delicious. My husband loved his chicken yakisoba bowl. We loved the metal cups, they kept our drinks ice cold and prevented the sweaty cups you normally get at other places. We will absolutely be back in the future. Thank you!

Imagine my surprise when I find out that it wasn't a December special and I can order a candy cane roll year round. I ordered this roll and a teriyaki salmon bento box. Everything was fantastic. The salmon has a great glaze and was cooked to perfection. The dinner box was a huge portion (especially with the additional sushi roll) so I had lunch the next day. The staff are always very friendly and there are never enough people in here for how good this place is.

Honestly, this is a jewel of a fine in Chesapeake, Virginia. The sushi chef is Japanese, and knows…read morewhat he's doing. They have seasonal foods that are actually authentic. Prices aren't too bad and it's not as busy. They also have authentic Japanese seating. We got the katsudon and some sushi and that was pretty good. Can't go along with a good rice bowl and beer.

So I recently went to Daikichi Sushi. I hadn't been there since a few years ago and honestly back…read morethen, went there looking for great ramen. I wasn't impressed and didn't return. So I went back for their sushi as it felt unfair to rate them on ramen when their specialty was sushi. There are very few sushi places actually owned and run by Japanese outside of big cities, people rave about this place, and I'm all for supporting them. I did order the ramen again hoping it changed. It was ok, but I resigned it is not the place for ramen. However, I will say their sushi and other appetizers are great, no lie. But my recent visit left a bad taste despite their great food. When we arrived, about 6pm, the waitress told me and my teenage daughter, "only the bar was available". There were 2 4-person tables that could be separated for a table for 2. And I noticed 2 couples already there sitting at 4 person tables. So I asked the waitress why are they seated at the tables? She said they arrived earlier and now they need to keep the tables open Ok, I get that, even though they only opened an hour ago. It's Saturday night, so I'll go with that. Well, shortly after putting in our order at the bar, I see them seat 2 people at one of the 4-person tables. And then shortly after that, they separated the other 4 seater into 2 tables and sat 2 more couples that arrived at each table. Now, I'm raising an eyebrow. I didn't say anything but before I left, I said to the waitress, I couldn't help but notice there were several couples seated at tables after us. She said oh, that couple knows the owner, referring to the first couple seated at a 4 person table (they didn't even separate the table). Ok I figured that when the owner gave a loud and enthusiastic good bye to them and the diner looked Japanese. I replied to the waitress, but then you all seated 2 more couples and pulled the table apart to accommodate them. She replied that the boss ordered them to separate the tables but he rarely does. I replied that we had arrived well before any of those 3 couples and were told we couldn't sit at the table. She just shrugged as if to say she was just following the boss' order. I left the usual 20% tip because I know the waitress didn't make the decision and she gave great service and the sushi was great. However, that said, the blatant preference of other customers felt insulting and left a super disappointing taste in my mouth. And no, they were not all Japanese. Just that one diner. The owner clearly picked and chose to not give us a table, for whatever biased reason. I could understand if I were alone or my daughter was 8, but she looks clearly like an adult. It just really sat wrong with me and left me upset enough that I question returning. It's very unfortunate that an otherwise great experience was marred by this blatant refusal to seat my daughter and I at a table, only to have salt rubbed into the wound by seating numerous couples that followed at a table, by separating the tables. They didn't even offer to seat us at the traditional tables, all of which were empty at the time we arrived. To me, the authentic Japanese sushi was not worth the insulting unexplained preference to seat other customers after us at a table. PS: the only sushi roll I didn't like was the real crab California roll. The real crab was grey and cold and tasted so fishy, I asked to make sure it was cooked real crab and not raw. (They said it was cooked). I guess I was expecting real Alaska crab white crab and it was not this at all.
