Well by law as the cashier said at the front technically He/She is still a Minor. ***So don't include that Fortune road as an adult can include them as a child You are the adult You're the one that's signing them in*** Well the waivers are Something Else. So here is a Tip if You the PARENT bringing in the 3/4/5 kids , 4 of them being an adult and one a minor under 14 years old well guess what no matter what you read on that waiver those 14-year-olds are still minors so it would be considered five minors with one adult..only You The ADULT sign the waiver for three kids.. not the child who is 14years and UP. This was Frustrating because it seems like I did 30min of waivers yesterday .. Best most affordable gym esp for beginners! The routes are decent and changed frequently.

Hubby and I came here for rock climbing for a date sans kids and it was fun! Groupon deal was for two intro lessons for $33 that came with an hour of learning. Deal came with climbing shoes and belay. Rob was super down to earth and taught us how to use the belays and etc. They have a limited amount of top rope challenges and the lowest level is 5.7. I was very nervous to restart rock climbing again. Came here on a whim one weekday and the staff was very patient and thorough during our safety and intro class. I am a new member for Hangar 18 and this is my first visit to the Long Beach location. I was in the area and wanted to check it out. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Since I have one free guest a month, I had my friend check the place out with me on Sunday. It wasn't too crowded around 2pm. There are plenty of fans blowing around the place but it still gets warm inside. Masks are required as well. There were plenty of walls to climb. They have rock climbing and bouldering. They offer gear rentals as well if you don't come prepared. All in all, I had a great time climbing here. If I am ever in the area again, I'll be sure to stop by. I've been to 10/11 of the Hangar 18 locations and the Hangar 18 in Long Beach is definitely top 3. The setting here is probably on the easier side compared to some of the other Hangars but still a TON of fun. They don't have a comp wall but they do have top rope, bouldering, some fitness equipment, and a Kilterboard. This gym's a great choice for those new to climbing or even seasoned veterans. read more

This was my first time indoor rock climbing! I live around the area and drive past the place almost everyday and decided to come here on Saturday with my cousins. The facility had a lot of parking and they open at 10am everyday. Although we showed up right at 10am and waited almost half an hour for someone to open so a bit confused. Our group decided to do the day pass for $25 which also came with rental shoes. There was a good variety of rock climbing for different levels and everything was color coded and labeled. I was an absolute beginner and sticked to v0 and v1. It was difficult but really fun. Highly recommend coming here if you want to try indoor rock climbing . read more

After 12 years at the gym (13 all together), the sets have never been this bad. Every week for over a year is the same style and they don't even use up the entire space. They have no variety where you can build up other climbing skills other that crimp harder, be longer, or risk snapping your pulley on this move. I actually get excited when friends who left this gym invite me to use their guest passes at their gyms. The only reason I'm staying is because I'm grandfathered into the old price, but now I didn't know of it's even worth it. Screw the setters. The desk staff is cool. read more

I have been coming here to climb for the past few weeks. Got a pretty good deal on an annual membership. It's a relatively tiny gym, but has a good amount of bouldering problems. I would say the top rope options are definitely limited, but they do have some as well as auto belay which is cool. I'm still relatively new to rock climbing, but I enjoy the playlists here too and the staff has always been down to earth as well as the people who climb here. I wish there were more 'community' like things for finding belay buddies and other rock climbing friends for those of that climb solo, but either way; I'm happy to me a member of Hangar 18 and looking forward to checking out some of their other gyms! read more

I have been a member at hangar 18 for more than 5 years exclusively at Long Beach. The route setting has been exponentially decreasing and there are so many spaces on the wall that could be filled in. I've spoken with the routesetters and have asked for accommodations for those with height differences and disabilities. They have responded well, but have been no differences. They also have a feature top rope wall that has not been changed for years. Those holds can be used for bouldering as well. Overall, just very unhappy with my experience. read more

Brother in law and I visited for our first time rock climbing, and this was the perfect place to get your feet wet in rock climbing. What a humbling experience haha, thinking you're strong until your forearms are on fire in a few minutes. Clean facility, even have a cage in the corner with a barbell and plates, dumbbells and a bench. Paid $35 for the day pass, you can stay until they're closed. Shoes and harnesses all included, bought a bag of chalk for $5 and still had a ton left over to take home. Ben was our instructor and gave us the rundown on everything. You can tell he enjoys what he does, truly getting paid to do something you love to do, which makes your experience as the customer even better. He was informative and demonstrated all the courses, and helped us on our form with encouragement and patience. Perfect place to try for your first time climbing. We'll definitely be back! read more

2 for 1 deal on Tuesday!! What a fun experience. Wow ! We were lucky to have taken the intro class with Mark and he was a great instructor. He took his time explaining the safety steps and showing us the ropes - literally! Lol He was fantastic. He was very careful and waited with us until we got a hang of the whole thing. And after 30 minutes we were doing our own buckling and climbings. Having this deal really is a great opportunity, especially for beginnings, to try it out to see if they like it. The day pass is $33 per person, but like I said on Tuesday's its 2 for the price of 1. And the membership is $36, so for $3 more you get to have a whole month pass with unlimited climbers and yoga classes. I highly recommend this place or their many other locations. read more

I've been a member for a long time and have had a lot of gripes with my gym but it's my home gym and I love it. It's not the cleanest and doesn't have the best facilities but it's there and it enables me to climb which I need to do for my sanity. Covid was rough without you and now that you are back I am internally grateful for you. Of course you can improve: build a proper locker room with showers, update the rock wall and put an auto belay, improve the weight area and get some cardio. Intro class today was scheduled for 1pm to 1:45pm. We got there 1:04pm. Took us 5 minutes to sign the waivers. I had called this location 1 hour prior to showing up. I had talked an employee on the phone. She didn't say anything about the importance on being there exactly at 1pm on the dot. She also didn't say anything about signing any waivers. It turns out this same person on the phone with me was going to teach this Intro Class. We wanted to use the harness and belay. She told us she can't teach us anything about that because "we were late". She said learning the rope and belay takes a full hour. This is impossible since the class is supposed to be only 45 minutes. This "45 minute intro class" turned out to be a total sham. She took 3 minutes to tell us extremely basic common sense safety stuff. She taught us nothing about actually climbing. Then she left us alone to climb on our own. So she spent 3 minutes with us and dipped. Least she could have done is walk us through step by step on some climbing routes. I could have paid for day passes for 2 people. Instead I paid more for an intro class for 2 people for absolutely nothing. Just because we got there 4 minutes late. Ended up spending most of the time there wanting a refund while bouldering. Not an enjoyable experience at all. Was initially excited to start my membership here but I won't be coming back after this. On a side note, we thought that this place was not beginner friendly and much more suited for hardcore rock climbing enthusiasts. read more

This was my first ever bouldering experience, ever. I'm talking no parkour experience or scaling rock experiences. CURRENTLY AS OF AUGUST, they have a monthly membership fee of $15(which is cheaper than the daily drop in rate of $33) - which gives you first time free rental for gear, $3 subsequent rentals, a free belay lesson, and a guest pass(I think you can use once per month¿ but I'm unsure). Chalk is also $10 per bag for 100g of chalk. The flat bouncy mats they put at the bottom of each wall allows you to jump down or fall without pain! It may be intimidating but just JUMP, when you're at the top. The walls are pretty challenging, and the levels make sense. V1 being one of the lower levels and V6 being a challenge. I was able to do at least 4-5 color coded climbs as a first timer with some athletic ability. It isn't as crowded(from a Friday 2pm perspective) and you don't have to wait for walls that long. It's a fun experience and I'd recommend it! Some walls will be completely impossible as a newbie(lack of finger strength gang yuhhhh), but you should be able to do up to V2 as a newbie! read more

Such a fun and unique way to get some exercise in. I came here with a friend as a first-timer because we wanted to try something new. We got vouchers off Groupon for only $17 and this included an intro class to belaying, climbing, shoe rentals, and harasses. (They were out of the community chalk) When you first get there, you will have to fill out some forms/waivers (which can take awhile), so make sure to come early. Each class is on the hour, so we decided on the first available morning class. It wasn't crowded at this time. Our instructor, Josh, was really fun and friendly and took the time and patience to teach us how to properly climb. We ended up having a ball and it was nice to see other people around us climbing too. My favorite was the auto-belay!! Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back with our other friends. Note: Keep nails short for this, since you will be gripping a lot on the walls. Also, be prepared to have sore hands and arms the next day. read more
