Alley Taps is that and with its rustic, subterranean vibe with exposed brick and low lighting, it was definitely a less touristy alternative to the nearby Broadway honky-tonks. The Nick Cross band was on and they were very good. Even better were the 2 female singers that came on in the middle during a band member break. That only lasted 2 numbers and we were hoping for more. Nick also has a "potty mouth" with an occasional string of F-words coming out at odd times. But Holy Moly, could this band (especially the fiddle guy) play. If listening to the band wasn't your thing, the people watching was stellar. So was the Buffalo vs. Boston NHL playoff game on the TV. A fun night was had by all. And yes, we paid a nice tip via Venmo.

We all had fun, but the biggest problem is that ALL the seating is reserved for table service. ALL of it!!! And the minimum was $250. I understand if some seating is reserved, that's normal. But all of it?? Me and my group would've stayed longer but without any where to sit a chill (without paying a small fortune) we just couldn't. Every other bar is a bar that contained live music. We came across this Jon Bon Jovi's restaurant and we absolutely loved it. The musicians were so darn good. The vibe was electric inside. And there are 4 different floors with different things on each floor. We tried the food and the French dip was unreal. I had no idea what I was eating because if this is French dip what was I eating before. I now know how good French dip can really get. Our server named Chloe was an elite server. My wife and I commented about how we haven't received this kind of great service in a long time. Overall, of all the music + bar + food places we checked out, we were so glad we ended up here. After four days of CMA Fest, my wife and I were ready for something a little more low-key…read more We had spent several days in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Lower Broadway, where the music is loud, the crowds are thick, and every bar seems to be competing to see who can turn the volume up the highest. So we wandered over to Category 10. It's just a block off the madness, and that short walk makes a surprisingly big difference. We stopped in during the afternoon, and it hit exactly the mark we were looking for. Category 10 is casual, clean, comfortable, and considerably more relaxed than the Broadway chaos just down the street. The menu is a little limited, and the daytime entertainment wasn't exactly the best of the best. But honestly, after four days of CMA Fest, I wasn't looking for the best of the best. I was looking for a place where I could sit down, enjoy a drink, and not feel like I was standing in the middle of a human pinball machine. The bartender was fantastic and really helped make the experience enjoyable. Category 10 may not be the place I'd choose if I was looking for the biggest party in Nashville, but it was exactly what we needed that afternoon. Four stars.
