Honestly, I want to give them 5 star cuz well the food deserved 5 stars and the service was good as well. So you might wonder why I'm giving them 3 stars instead of 5 stars.... Well read on my Yelp friend... Read on. If you've ever been to NYC and waited in line to get that freaking perfect NY bagel... You know the one... Crispy on the outside... Chewy in the middle and flavor just busting outta every bite... Well Hank's is very reminiscent of it and the bagels were bomb. I got the everything bagel cuz well...I like everything. ;) And I got their guyere cheese, Calabrian chili and bacon biale. The flavor was so delicious!!! I also ended up getting a sandwich as well. It was the soppressata one and it was very flavorful. It had a decent amount of soppressata and more chilis and some of the mix greens on it. Now this is where they lose .5 star. It was a tad bit on the pricey side. It was $10.50 for one bagel sandwich. With no sides and no drink. Just the sandwich itself. Was it yummy? That is a most definite yes. Was it worth $10.50...i don't think so. I also ended up getting their egg salad to try. Not don't get me wrong...I love egg salad but I don't see the point of using vegan aioli in an egg salad. What's the point? It was ok... But it was tad bit on the runny side for an egg salad. I also got a baker's dozen (2 bagels and 4 biales), cold brew coffee, sandwich and egg salad... The damage was almost $50 with tip. Everything was delicious but I'm not sure that it was $50 delicious. The other .5 star was lost when I saw a lady separating eggs in the same table that there were bagels cut in half ready to be made in sandwiches (I'm guessing here) but you should never be separating raw eggs near ready to eat foods. There was go guard in between the raw eggs and the ready to eat bagels. The other star was lost when I got home and I was eating my biales later on that day and I pulled a semi long blondish red hair out of my mouth. :/ Definitely not good eats. At first I thought that it could be mine as I dye my hair burgundy but when I took a closer look, it was definitely not my hair as my hair is coarse and this one was very fine and not long enough to be mine. I'm torn as to if I want to return. The flavor and texture of the bagels were to die for. But the hair and the health code concerns and the price kind of hold me back. I mean I had 7 bagels and 1 of them had hair in it. 1 out of 7. It could've been worse right? I really am torn. I try to eat here often because it's by my work, and a bagel sandwich is a nice lunch. Although, since they have transitioned to online ordering exclusively, my orders have gotten progressively worse. I ordered a toasted bagel sandwich , and they didn't toast it. I clearly asked for a water in the notes of the order, but it wasn't ready when I arrived , and the girl acted like I was putting her out to grab one. It was a tiny cup too. Like a shot of water, and no lid. Them when I try to call abs have it rectified, there is no answer at the store, and the voicemail is full. Yes, I called DURING business hours. will eat here if I have to, but there's no real reason to unless everything else is closed. I don't recommend Hanks. It stanks. read more

I don't know how boyfriend and I stumbled upon this, but I'm so glad that we did. We were both craving a lox bagel situation and ordered the No 3. It's expensive in my opinion (you can customize your bagel too if you still want lox without all the fluff). But the quality and flavor are undeniable. Everything bagel is definitely where it's at and not too oniony. The true star is their bagels. I absolutely loved the bagel. It was fresh, soft and not too chewy. They were the best bagels I have ever tasted. Don't expect the floor to clean of poppy seeds and other bagel crumbs; that's impossible. There's a cute little patio in the back of the store if you'd like to enjoy your bagel right away. Every time I visit the boyfriend, I crave these bagels. In my opinion, the best bagels in Los Angeles. I've only had one thing (why mess with what works?) -- everything bagel with angry cream cheese. It is a perfect bagel; tons of toppings and flavor on the bagel; and perfect amount of spiciness from the cream cheese. There can be a line, so I recommend ordering ahead and picking up (note that the pickup time they give is usually pretty accurate; if you show up earlier than your pickup time, you'll wait a few minutes). read more

My go-to bagel place was Western Bagel down the street off Pass. Simple/typical (industrial?) bagel joint. Not the best, but not horrible. Good bagels at a good price. You get what you paid for. Wife and I recently came back from a quick trip in New York and it was my first time trying NY bagels. Holy crap they were amazing. The crunch, the dough, the thickness, the flavor. Everything about those bagels were heaven in a little bag. I was pounding two bagels every visit to a joint because there were effing amazing. When we came back from the trip, Western Bagel wasn't cutting it, but we had no choice. Closest place to us, good price, and a decent bagel. I cut back and was only doing one bagel at a time because I wasn't as satisfied as I was in New York. One day, we are taking a stroll down Riverside Dr. and I notice a newly painted building with a big bagel man on the outside. My heart starts to beat a little bit faster. We get closer and see (in big white font) "hank's...a deli of sorts". I instantly jump on Yelp and hunt this place down and come to find that it is a new bagel joint. Heart is full flutter mode. We pull over and step inside to bagel heaven. Bagels galore! They even store them in metal baskets hanging off wall just like in New York! I fell in love at first bite. Of course I ordered two bagels, one plain and one salt. Holy bagels these things were the real deal. The crunch, the thick dough, the flavor, EVERYTHING! Guys, I'm not lying in saying that these bagels are identical to New York bagels. I would even go out on a limb and say that Hank's bagels are better than any New York bagel I've tried... Staff is top notch. Cool cats that are helpful and nice. Owners are amazing people that chat with you about anything. Love the folks that own/run Hank's. Best bagels in town. Bottom Line: Super fresh bagels that will fulfill that "real bagel" craving. Amazing cream cheese options. Food: I don't normal crave bagels BUT WHEN I DO.... it gotta be good! Man oh man are these good! They are so fresh- chewy, soft, and moist on the inside with that amazing bagel crisp on the inside. They also don't slack with the cream cheese which I appreciated. Line: I came here on a weekday so I didn't really experience any type of line. Atmosphere: It's small inside-- I wouldn't big a big group for breakfast. Definitely can come solo dolo and bring your computer or take a bagel to go. I think the "deli" in the title can be a bit misleading even though it's GOOD because it's for sure a bagel spot. Hank's is EXACTLY what was missing in the area. This super cute neighborhood spot brings it all. Friendly staff, kid and pet friendly, AND BOMB ASS BAGELS!!! So far i have had the EJC (which is your classic everything bagel, but with jalapeno and melted Cheddar on top!) with plain cream cheese and it was perfection. the flavors all paired so well. and the bagel is perfect, soft and doughy inside with a nice crunch to the outside. I also have had the salt bagel with veggies and avo and scallion cream cheese, i mean, it doesnt get better than this. My toddler is the pickiest ever and even he LOVES everything. Got him a plain bagel with butter, which sounds like the most boring thing, but Hank's somehow made this into a tasty treat! so.good. Everything is so fresh and good, cant go wrong. Bagels are incredibly tough. Taste is good, but your jaw will be tired. Not an enjoyable experience. Especially as an overpriced sandwich.

Not sure what has changed, but stopped by for a few bagels with toppings and food quality was not the same. Lox spread was underwhelming in the amount provided. More importantly however, the bagels were tough enough to have my jaw hurting from eating. They seemed fresh and certainly not stale, but a toasted bagel should never be that much work to bite into and chew! I hope this place hasn't been overly relying on its proximity to the studio crowd and its own former glory-- hard to attract clientele, but easy to lose in this current climate. TERRIBLE STAFF My wife and I wanted bagels and went to our usual, the far superior Western Bagel, but their credit card machine was down. We decided to take a chance and give hank's another chance. Upon walking into their store, the guy at the counter was taking a phone order, which was apparently a big one, because it kept going and going and going. At no point did the guy say "sorry guys, give me a sec" nor did any of the other 4 or 5 employees do anything to recognize that we were in the store or existed at all. They all just kind of stood around. After five minutes, the wife and I left. Happy ending: we went to an atm and got cash and went back to western bagel! WOW, them Bagels here are delicious! So fresh and filled!! I ordered off the set Menu but with the COVID, you can build your own online and pick it up. Great service when I went to pick up and people all around outside were waiting on their Bagels, since my order was taking a bit longer to finish up they were great to hand my order to me at my car once it was done. So that is your curb side pick up there!!! The Bagel was great and tasty and pretty large that half was enough in my case. I ordered the breakfast type with egg and it was great. Unsanitary food practices. I won't be going back to this location. This morning, a man with a dog that was clearly not a service animal was allowed in, unchallenged, to order takeout. This is a losing battle, I know, as selfish, entitled pet owners have overwhelmed food service and made it impossible to keep animals out of restaurants. HOWEVER, today went beyond the pale when one of the food servers came out to pet the dog and kiss the owner, who was apparently her boyfriend. Strange how just having a halfway decent bagel in LA can make a place get pretty cocky. At Hank's, you can walk in with no line and order a SINGLE bagel w/ cream cheese, and they'll tell you it's a 30 minute wait! I get that they have online orders, but that's a bit much for something that takes 15 seconds to prep. I left and came back a half hour later, and then it was surprisingly difficult to get an employee to retrieve my bagel that I could see sitting there. Solid bagel, weird vibes. read more
