Came here because of a recommendation from my mom who visited 6 years prior saying it was great. I shared the recommendation on to my boyfriend and we visited while his parents were in town. This place is amazing. I tried 3 appetizers, 4 entrees and 2 desserts and everything was wonderful. My favorite was the chicken found at the top of the entree list. The balsamic panna cotta is VERY balsamic-y so stay away if you don't like that flavor in your desserts because it was strong (luckily I am a balsamic lover) the only thing I didn't quite like was the wine list. We came here for dinner with colleagues and were surprised at the poor service and even worse food. The server had no sense of timing: asking us if we'd like drinks or apps before we order is fine; serving apps 10 minutes before our drinks is not! Then she disappeared for half hour before she returned to take our order. 45 minutes later our food arrives. Yuck! My rabbit pappardelle was sloppy, cold, lacking the described chard (was that 3 leaves of spinach?), and was served over cold and undercooked pasta. Not to mention the bones I picked out of the ragu. My colleague played it safe with a burger which he said was ok but when he offered me a fry, they were soggy and cold. And did the server ever show up to see how we were? Nope. We were celebrating a birthday and wanted to try something new...We searched Yelp for steakhouses and found this location had many reviews with a high star rating so we decided to try it out. We made a reservation through Yelp and were welcomed upon arrival. There is no dress code for this establishment though the ambiance implies business casual. The service was impeccable, we arrived around 5:30PM and it was not busy, however business picked up while there. The staff was very knowledgeable regarding the menu; answering any questions we had The appetizers were delicious...we ordered the Pomme Frites and Shrimp & Grits. Very different but wonderful! We ordered drinks from the bar and they were made perfectly! The main dishes were served in a timely manner and to everyone's expectations within our party. We ordered a variety of desserts. Just like the rest of the meal...it was delectable. The music didn't seem to be on at all times. The prices are on the higher end but well worth it. The ladies room was very clean. read more

Have always enjoyed this restaurant. Went there last night for hubby's birthday and waited almost an hour for our food. After we asked about the food, it was magically ready. It was obvious the food had been sitting for a while. Also, when we sat down, the host said "oh you are celebrating a birthday, we will have a special birthday treat for you", and nothing. Barely, got cold food. For a bill of over $200, we will go somewhere next time with great service. I won't be back to this place. read more

My boyfriend had to come to Denton today, so I thought we would treat ourselves to a nice meal! Wow a fabulous meal is what we got!! We started out with a few adult beverages. He ordered the Audacity Brew House beer, love supporting local businesses! He actually didn't care for it and ordered the Martin house IPA for his second drink. I got the Bloody Mary. It was perfectly spicy and came with a pickled okra and olive. For an appetizer we got the fried green tomatoes with mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar. The combination of the three was incredible! For the main course he got the Parmesan Rainbow Trout Lemon Risotto Roma Tomato & Balsamic Basil Salad. The fish was huge and cooked perfect. I feel a theme coming on... All the flavors combined were delish! I ordered the Ahi Burger! Watch out it is spicy! Thankfully I love spicy! And the toasted egg bun! Well it was warm and buttery and my mouth is watering thinking about it. I lived in denton for 6 years and Hannahs always impressed and still does! After dining here, on my BIRTHDAY, I am really surprised by all of the positive reviews... The food was really pretty bad. We started with two appetizers: green curry mussels ($14) and fried green tomatoes with local mozzarella ($13). The mussels tasted like they were cooked in a can of Campbell's cream of tomato soup. The bread that accompanied it was no better than grocery-store "French" bread after sitting in a warm oven. The tomato part of the fried-green-tomato app wasn't bad: well-seasoned and cooked. The mozzarella wasn't made well; the texture was off and it looked old. So did the wilted, "fresh," basil that topped the dish. We ate everything though because we were hungry... And should've stopped there but mistakenly decided to then order the ricotta gnocchi. Big mistake. The gnocchi was undercooked: when you cut into it, you could see the dough was raw. It was swimming in oil (not pesto), woody asparagus, and poor quality Parmesan (for $22). It was inedible. At that point, we decided to leave... The manager (who annoyingly was walking around with keys jangling outside of his pocket) didn't care to ask why we left in the middle of dinner, without finishing our meal or ordering entrees. Poor form. Our waiter, Timothy, wasn't bad. Although he never told us about the specials, nor did he inquire about our sudden departure. Oh yeah: it's also very overpriced for the poor quality of the food. I am writing this, hungry, on our way to another - hopefully, better, restaurant. read more

Oh my gosh. Had the BEST veggie burger ever! The patty is housemade and fried until just crispy. Oat Kaiser bun. Added housemade pimento cheese which they melted on very nicely, and sweet horseradish pickles, and also the usual fixins - onions, tomato, lettuce. Waffle cut sweet potato peppercorn fries are fabulous! Thick cut fried green tomato appetizer was good - it comes with Dallas mozzarella which is delicious. They didn't go too heavy on the balsamic reduction. Next time, I'd order it without the balsamic and ask for a side of a different sauce - maybe their sundried tomato mayo. Couldn't resist their award winning carrot cake for dessert. Glad I saved room. There's no questioning why it wins awards. Wonderful wait staff! The place is somewhat upscale but they have plenty of seating options to suit your style. I was happy sitting in the bar area. I drove over 30 miles to try this place and it was most definitely worth the trip. Denton is a neat little college town with lots of nice independent shops and restaurants downtown in the vicinity of Hannah's. Take a walk if you have time! read more

I have been to Hannah's on several occasions during the past year and have never failed to be impressed. I will warn you, it is pricey ($9 to $14 for a glass of wine, but my eyes start glazing over when I see a glass of wine over $8 LOL) but worth it... the ambiance at the bar can't be beat... waitstaff is very accommodating and friendly, and the variety of unusual cheeses with breads/crackers is phenomenal, not your normal cheddar on a Triscuit! I had their soup also a couple of times (although after a couple glasses of wine I don't remember what it was, just that it was delicious) which is just what the doctor ordered after a long day at the office. I plan on going back to try other menu offerings, perhaps when out of town friends come in for a visit... a wonderful experience you should try! read more

Yum! I haven't been to Hannah's since 2003 (ish). I just went back today for some yummy brunch. It was amazing. They use great ingredients and have amazing prices for what you get. I had several mimosas, a cappichino, and breakfast for just over $20! The atmosphere is great too. And from what I remember they have a great wine bar! If in Denton you must check out this place. My husband made reservations for us at 8pm the night before Valentine's Day. We walked around the square a bit and then went over to Hannah's to wait out our reservation time. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and I mentioned our reservation and told the hostess I knew we were early. I didn't expect to be seated then, given that we were about 20 minutes early, but she seemed a little put out that we were there. She told us we could wait in the bar, but we don't drink so we opted to wait near the hostess stand. This one hostess repeatedly looked at us like we had done something wrong and just seemed generally exasperated that we arrived before our reservation. I will say though, there were at least a dozen or more open tables and we still were not sat until 8pm. Our server was extremely attentive and very professional. She refilled our drinks promptly, which was impressive because we were extremely thirsty. I have no complaints at all in the service department. The food was pretty good as well. We ordered the Fried Green Tomato appetizer and it was much like a Mozzarella Caprese, with fried green tomatoes. The mozzarella was incredible! It was just the right amount of salty and tasted super fresh. The tomatoes were just okay and definitely could have used a little additional salt in the batter. It's garnished with some fresh, shaved basil but given the lack of flavor in the tomatoes, it could have used a lot more of the basil. I saw several people order the White Truffle Pomme Frites, which is what I would get next time. I also had a cup of the lobster bisque, which was good but not at all memorable. I have definitely had better. For dinner, I had the Chicken Saltimbocca and it was pretty amazing. It's wrapped in proscuitto and sits atop a couple of basic manicotti. I ordered this dish specifically because it has butternut squash, although I was very disappointed at the five little pieces it was served with. But, the chicken was delicious. I don't normally enjoy things wrapped in any kind of pork and usually just peel the stuff off, but the proscuitto on this chicken was so good that I left it on there and ate it just as it came out. The brown butter sage sauce was equally delicious, but there was A LOT of it. So much so, that it almost appeared as though my entree was a really hearty soup. I would definitely get the brown butter sauce on the side next time and add to taste. The manicotti were good but they were very basic and missed the mark on being anything remarkable. The chicken is remarkable. My husband, however, was so impressed by his entree that he was talking about it the next day. And the day after that. He ordered the "Off the Square" Au Poivre Tenderloin and raved about it with every bite. I must say though, he ordered the steak medium rare and it was definitely medium. I encouraged him to send it back, especially given the $33 price tag, but he just kept eating. This steak was served with a green peppercorn sauce, which is what caught my eye about it - I love green peppercorn sauce and I almost never see it served in restaurants. The sauce was nicely done and upped the ante on this steak. I had several bites and even over cooked, the steak was tender and had a very rich flavor. It was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus and the asparagus was pretty awesome. My husband said the mashed potatoes were great, so I took his work for it. I am not a fan of mashed potatoes. We had the carrot cake for dessert and while it really was delicious, it was almost too cold. The frosting was pretty thick and it had obviously just come out of the fridge. This made the frosting and cake both fairly hard in terms of texture, but it was still delicious. If I was to order this again, I would ask my server in advance, to set the cake out at room temperature. It is a pricey little joint for Denton, but I didn't feel that the prices were unreasonable. They use fresh and local ingredients and they are locally owned, which in my book is definitely a win! read more

They have an excellent whiskey selection, and a decent port selection if I remember correctly. The bartenders can make most of the classic cocktails that other places have forgotten about. We love love love Hannah's! It's always great for dinner, but brunch is our favorite. We often gather all the ladies and have mimosas and bloody Marys on Sunday mornings. The smoked salmon crepes, and the blue crab omelet are both amazing. For lunch we really like the fish tacos, but always check the specials because they are always great. I don't like carrot cake in general, but theirs is delicious. Try Hannah's and see for yourself why most people come back again and again. read more

I just returned from a miserable experience here. Let me start off by saying I go there quite a bit. The food is normally good and service attentive. Tonight it was insane. Sat in the bar trying to have a nice conversation but that was not to be. Talk about loud. This is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I have been here a handful of times in recent years but remember doing brunch here 15 years ago. Their service as always been exceptional. Their food is amazing but some items are better than others. My personal favorite is the duck pancakes. Duck is good. Pancakes are soft spicy flavorful with different herbs. Put it all together with the chipotle maple syrup and it is delightful. Their Ham, bean, and bok choy soup made me want some poor mans alternative recipe. If you are squeamish about price....I recommend being in a place where this doesn't hold you back. Hannah's is a once a year treat for me. Unless I've made money in the stock market or something. Be prepared to spend $30 per person without getting drinks. Their drinks are also amazing. Blood orange martini. Manhattan anyone? read more

I like Hannah's however; tonight I was not delighted. It was our anniversary dinner and the waitress was new but she should have been able to pronounce the specials. My favorite kale salad was very small (it is usually generous) and overdressed. I ordered stuffed trout and my husband the flounder. They came out tasting very similar. We simply gave up before dessert and finished our meal. I think the menu needs one excellent light entree so that one could enjoy a 3 course meal. Hannah's is the bomb! Excellent service and food without comparison in Denton for sure. We went to celebrate a special occasion on a recent Friday evening and were treated to truely special meal. We had the shrimp and grits appetizer which was one of the highlights of the night. Steak prepared just right, trout stuffed with shrimp and crab, egg plant with lobster....The only knock at all was the delicious coffee we had after our meal wasn't quite hot enough.
