We've dined here many times and hosted private events , unfortunately this Friday evening dinner with friends left us disappointed. Scallops entree were rubbery and lacked hard crust exterior and the side of corn risotto was more like wet rice . My entree of chicken saltimboca was good , chicken was moist and came with delicious gnocchi. Our appetizer of fried green tomatoes was totally flat - lacked salt , batter crustbwas too thick and didn't have enough dressing . Absolutely perfect food, service, and ambiance. Manager Adam stopped by our table tonight and it was so nice to talk with him. The service by Sara was beyond perfect. The food was fabulous. Such a quaint place. Quiet enough to hear each other and music is very soothing and chill. If you have gluten issues or are a vegan, they are the perfect place. We have ordered from Hannah's a couple of times for special occasions. It's more of fine dining type of restaurant but without any pretentiousness or dress code. The first time we ordered to go and they came out with the food curbside and made sure we had everything. The last time we dined in, you can reserve a table from their website. The service was great both times but of course you have more interactions when you dine in. They had all tables social distanced well and always wore mask and ask all customers to wear mask until they are at their table. They have a pretty large menu and also specials. They also have vegetarian options that sounded good but I haven't tried it yet. At the last visit, I tried their fried green tomatoes as appetizers. They are thicker and not made the same way as you typically see it in Texas where they are thin and deep-fried with a dipping sauce. They were good and juicy, I wish it would come with more sauce. I personally like the more traditional fried green tomatoes I tried their special as an entree which was seafood jambalaya. It was very good with great flavor. I would personally like a bit more heat but all the flavors came together nicely. We were too stuffed to eat dessert there but I got the key lime pie to go and it was excellent. At a previous visit I had the lamb sirloin salad which was amazing! Great lamb flavor of great quality and the salad came together nicely. It was a very big serving and I had plenty of leftovers from that visit. Service has always been great, I like the decor of the restaurant. So far we have just been for special occasions, they have different type of dishes compared to many other restaurants which is nice and they seem to rotate their menu when seasons change. read more

My husband and I were walking around the Denton square on a Tuesday night and on a whim decided to see if we could have a seat on Hannah's patio. Lucky for us, there was a table so we were able to be seated right away. Everyone was masked and tables seemed more than 6ft socially distanced which was nice and made for a quiet, relaxing dinner. Service was alright... not bad, not great (there were a few demanding tables that I think took away our servers attention). I had a glass of wine and he had the Manhattan. Both good, probably would have had a second had we had more attentive server. But alas, by the time we were asked if we wanted another we were almost done with our meal. Food was good! We started with the calamari which was delicious. I had the scallop entree and he had the daily special which was a short rib ragu. Both were good, fresh ingredients and good flavors, but made us wonder if our second choice meals would have satisfied us more? Truthfully the whole menu sounded great! All in all it was a good experience! We will definitely return when we have a special occasion and a reservation to try more of the menu. read more

I was irritated when we arrived. No parking. It is graduation weekend. It is Mother's Day weekend. It just so happens that it is our 10th Anniversary. We ordered appetizers and entrees. Quail Jalepeno poppers and beef carpochio. Flavors were spot on!! The poppers were nice and hot. I ordered the scallops that came with tofu and caramelized onions and stuff. It tasted great. When it arrived the scallops were barely warm. They were on top of a salad. If i am being honest, it needs something more "filling" added to it. I would reccomend a bed of ancient grains under the salad. Farro, wild rice, brown rice, quinoa.....cooked in chicken broth. If my hubby wasn't a picky little critter that won't eat brussel sprouts or bok choi, i would have walked away hungry. He also shared his little fancy potatoes. He ordered the rack of lamb. It came with creamed brussel sprouts (very yummy) and roasted fingerling potatoes. We were both very happy with the flavors and will definately come back to try something new. read more

This is such a gem. The service is gracious and discretely attentive. I was tempted by the daily flatbread special, but the shrimp and crab hoagie won out. Crunchy, spicy shrimp and creamy crab salad - what's not to love? They weren't extremely busy, so we didn't feel rushed to end our visit - 4 of us coming from around the metroplex. We had a great evening at Hannahs! I had the Margheritte flat bread and tomato basil soup. My wife had the sweet potato mediterranean style. Both were scrumptious. Very flavorful and light but not too light. Great atmosphere. And we loved our waitress, Grace, a delightfully sweet woman who helped us choose between entrees - she gave her opinion to choose the lesser cost entree, and it was excellent. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and it is definitely a place where you can linger over drinks and dinner. Service was excellent, ambience was quirky but nice, and the food was enjoyable, but a couple of key misses. Caprese salad included huge, fresh tomatoes, but the mozzarella pieces were tiny. Truffle fries were divine, no notes! I ordered the Wagyu ravioli and Brussels sprouts - the ravioli was good and flavorful, didn't love that it came in a chunky stew-like sauce, would've preferred a smooth sauce. The Brussels were way over cooked and hard to eat. My dinner partner got the night's special fish, and while he enjoyed it, he noted that it hadn't been seasoned or salted to be anything special. read more

Creative, Casual, Upscale, Tasty and Pricey Called at the last minute and they were able to take a reservation for my wife and I. This is a very unassuming place from the outside and inside. They bill themselves as Casual Fine Dining, and that is how it looks. Once we got in on a 100 degree day, we decided we were really in the mood for lighter food, and in looking at the menu featuring steaks and seafood and lamb and other bigger entrees, we were not sure we could. As it turns out the sharables were perfect and we selected two - the fried green tomatoes and the margherita flatbread. The fried green tomatoes were perfect with smoky corn relish and a wonderful dill sauce. Could have used a bit more of the relish, but other than that, perfect. The flatbread had fresh tomatoes and a perfect amount of balsamic. The cheese was fresh and the crust had a nice crunch. We then shared the vegetarian special which was a beat risotto. Bright red in color and with a good number of beet chunks, this was a flavor adventure. We usually don't go for vegetarian main courses, but glad we did here. There are many salads and sharables we will return for. To be honest, we have to decide whether the prices for the main courses are too high for us. Seeing the plates pass by, the portions look very generous so it might be another split the entre approach or go in knowing that we are paying for two meals for each order as we take half home. Denton needs a high-quality upscale restaurant, but one that you don't need to dress for, and this seems to fit the bill. read more

Great place for lunch and dinner. The food is delicious and the staff is attentive. While I have seen families there, It appears to be a hotspot for couples. The majority of customers have been couples every time we've been there. It may be due to the rich woods and cozy feeling from the decor. I highly recommend this restaurant. I am happy to be able to amend my previous review. I came back, after 4 years since my last stope here, and had a much more pleasant experience. First, the weird smell from the previous remodel was gone. Second, the service was amazing! Our server was super attentive and helpful and answered all of the hundreds of questions I had. He also was totally on top of things. I ended up ordering the same thing that I had 4 years ago (scallops and lemon risotto), but he swore to me that it was delicious, and I'm happy to say that it did not disappoint! There were 3 scallops, but they were quite large and perfectly seared, atop a delicious bed of lemon risotto (unlike last time, it was perfectly seasoned and not too lemony), with roasted Brussels sprouts around the edge. It was definitely pricey, at $32, but totally worth it. I'm really glad that I had a better experience than all those years ago, and am happy to say that I would dine here again. On that note, my coworker ordered the prosciutto chicken and also very much enjoyed it. It was also less expensive, only $22. read more

First time eating at Hannah's Off the Square and what an experience it was. Attending a company event on a Monday so we had the restaurant to ourselves as they are typically closed on Mondays. The service first off was top notched and would occasionally check up on everyone to ensure that their beverage was filled or if a refill was needed. The event had a set menu with the only choice being the main. The salad for entree was refreshing but was nothing spectacular and so we were off the a mediocre start. That was when everything changed for the better. I was told that the Chicken Saltimbocca was their best dish. Someone even told me that "it was the best chicken dish they ever had". So based on that I without hesitation choose that as my main. The chicken was moist and succulent. It was deboned with just the bone in the drum left. The chicken sat on top fluffy pillows of gnocchis. All the while the gnocchi were on top of the cream, herb sauce. The sauce was definitely very rich and in general the main course was very rich but so delicious that you did not want to stop eating until you were finished. For dessert we had petit four. It was a trio that consisted of: a carrot cake, chocolate truffle and a cookie. The best was the carrot cake which was very moist. The truffle was extremely rich and I could only have a bite of it. The cookie was the worst of the three where it seemed to be over baked as the texture was grainy and crumbly. Overall the rating is top notched because of the main course. I would come again just for that and be happy with my meal! read more

Upon entering from the street you will find a very warm and welcoming decor and ambiance here. We arrived around noon on Saturday and there was no problem securing a table. Our party of four was taken to a table at the very back of the restaurant against the back wall beyond which is the pleasant patio dining area out back. This room is not so warm and attractive as the sections up front. But it was OK. Service was somewhat slow and there was an unusually long wait between placing our drink orders and their arrival. But this is the Covid staff shortage era. I attribute it to this. I took a chance on an unusual offering... the Mexican Martini as I recall, a Jalapeño flavored or infused tequila with Cointreau, lime juice and olive juice? Are you kidding me? Olive juice?? Hahaha. So I had to try it. Hey, it is pretty darn good. It works! We each had a diff white wine by the glass with our meals and were all pleased with the by the glass wine offerings. My dining companions were all pleased with their choices... one Napa Chop Chop Salad, another Chop Chop salad with added Grilled Salmon and thirdly the brisket burger with the bacon wrapped onion on top that I wish I had ordered! LOL. Geez it looked good. And my friend loved it. I ordered the quiche of the day which was salmon and dill. It was very disappointing as was the salad that accompanied it. The presence of salmon and/or salmon flavor was barely detectable and the greens in the salad were just not very pleasant. Was there kale? I dunno. But I ate very little. I don't know what got into me today as in 72 years I have never in my entire life ordered quiche in a restaurant (my wife says she worries about me as these days I have been occasionally ordering things in restaurants that I would NEVER have given a second thought to before : ). Aside from the fact that the top of the quiche was burned it was well cooked, but just flavorless. One irritation: I had the cocktail, right? $13. There was no note on the menu about a mixed beverage tax. When the bill came, in addition to the common regular city/state whatever tax there was a "Mixed Beverage Tax" of $3.50!! What the heck is that? I asked our server whose tax that is... city? county? and he said he thought it is the restaurant's tax. What??? Are you kidding me? Just so you know. read more
