I was referred to Hans through a friend to repair my car, which was having brake and rotor issues. I was greeted immediately by Eric, who was kind and efficient. I told my problems and Eric was able to clearly deduce and explain to me what actions we were going to go through. I was told it would take about an hour and a half for them to order parts in order to replace my rotor and that stayed true with the results. Other than Eric, I could tell that the rest of the guys were on the same level of efficiency and workmanship. I got a real sense of togetherness watching them work. They told us we didn't need the tire rotation yet because all four tires were very similar in wear. Other places would have just done it and charged us since we asked them to, but this place is very honest about not doing something you don't need. I came in and was unaware that I needed to let them know that I prefer synthetic oil over conventional. Found this out after they have finished my oil change and was about to pay. Without hesitation they took my car back into the shop and changed out the oil to what I preferred. I selected this repair shop based on the Yelp reviews and proximity to my home. On my first visit to Hans, I was impressed. I noticed that my car had been leaking a little bit and I also needed an oil change. The mechanic looked under the hood and identified the leak as well as a couple other leaks and repairs that were needed. He said it would run around $1,000. He instructed me to return during the week when he would have more time to do the repairs. The mechanic was very nice, but a little difficult to understand. There was a bit of a language barrier, so I didn't catch all of what needed to be repaired, but figured I'd get clarification when I returned. I had the oil changed and went on my way. At the behest of my other half, I took the car to another mechanic for a second opinion due to the high cost of the repairs. The other repair shop confirmed one of the leaks that Hans told me about, but noted none of the other repairs. I was also told that the oil filter was leaking and that it needed to be replaced. I informed the second opinion mechanic that I just had an oil change a few days prior so the oil filter should be new. He said it looked old and that I should return to the place that did the oil change. Following these instructions, I returned to Hans. To be honest, I wasn't sure who to believe. I asked the mechanic if the oil filter had been changed as part of the oil change and he said yes. (I was nice about it; I didn't want to be accusatory.) Then he went over the repairs that were needed. He was moving incredibly quickly and again I couldn't understand 75% percent of what he was saying. He also seemed to be shouting. I eventually asked if he could write it down so I would know what work would be done. The mechanic was very agitated at this point. He was shouting and pretty worked up. I'm not sure if he thought I was questioning his expertise or what. I literally just couldn't understand him. He then said that he would do the work that needed to be done and if I wanted it written down it would cost $85 just for that. I assume he was talking about a diagnosis. He pretty much was just trying to get rid of me and said to return in the morning. I feel like there was definitely a miscommunication, but I did not appreciate being shouted at. Another thing worth noting is that the mechanic rattled off a MUCH longer list the second time around and increased the price to $1300. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

I have been to many auto shops over the years, and this place is by far the best experience I've had. Fast and good quality of work for half of the price I used to pay at other shops. I agree with some other reviewers that it is a little lit difficult to communicate with the mechanic (I assume the shop owner) if you do not speak Korean, but during the two times I was there, there was always a native English speaker mechanic who has been very helpful both times. I was referred to this place by my moms, who was constantly nagging (praising) on how great this place was in terms of service, reliability, and price for her car care needs. I have a 2016 Lexus nx200 that I brought in. The first 10,000 miles or so, Lexus offers complimentary maintenance. Anything afterward for something as simple as an oil change, filter change, tire rotation was in excess of $160.00 plus tax. Despite the price, my mindset is that I should always take it to the dealer. That way I have a consistent record of what's been performed and should I decide to sell it it would bring in more value (not sure if this is true but...) I mention this for a really good reason. They offer the same parts and labor for a fraction of the price! Who knows if I'll sell this car or drive it till my kids go to college! I called around 5 pm to see if they could take me. They said yes. I bring the car in by 5:45 pm. I was out the shop by 6:45. The tech replaced the oil, filter, rotated the tires but a fraction, A FRACTION of the price. He also topped off most fluids for free. The highlight of the service was when he literally brought out the existing parts and explained to me why the oil was so black and how it may affect the lifespan of the vehicle in a negative way and kindly mentioned that I should use certain kinds of oil and that I should be more mindful of driving under certain conditions. How great is that? Most body shops/maintenance shops nickel and dime your ass but not here. Very honest, sincere, willing to work with you, accommodating, reliable. Mr. Kim and his mechanics are very honest. The Hyundai dealership I went to was dishonest and tried to gouge me; their multipoint inspection failed to find an obvious alternator issue, and the dealership only recommended that the battery be changed, which was also overpriced. I came in on Sunday afternoon (yes, he opens 7 days a week), and Mr. Kim was able to determine the problem immediately and find the part by next morning; having it installed and fixed in a couple hours. He even provided a loaner car. His prices were very fair, and he explained the the situation clearly. He even fixed a couple of other issues for free. read more

Most courteous service shop I've ever been to. The owner always gives it to me straight and let's me know what I should fix and what things arent necessary or too wasteful to spend on. My engine was leaking oil and I thought there was something wrong with the oil cover/pan, but he told me that it was only the hose that needed to be fixed. One of his employees also told me that there a part of my suspension needed to be fixed, but the owner assured me that it wasn't time to fix it yet and that I could probably still get about 15,000 miles on it before I replace. First time her today and they are working on my car as I write the review. It's Mother's Day for crying out loud and what the heck am I thinking wanting an oil change and tire rotation today? Anyways, the guys are very jolly and accommodating. I always have my own air filter, engine oil and oil filter. Most shops will be hesitant to use my own oil, air filter and engine oil. But the guy said the price to do my service gladly, without hesitation. In comparison, other shops would charge $25 - $35 for the oil change itself and then another $15 - $25 for the rotation. Also, all of their prices are posted, and you know right away what prices you will be charged. One tire had a nail and it was shown to me, asked if I wanted it removed and I obligingly said yes. Again, the price mentioned was the same price on the posting. All in all, $45 to do all that with a smiling face and they're open Sundays. They just got another loyal customer for as long as I live here in K-town. read more

I normally don't write reviews but they deserve one. I had an oil change at another place on the corner of 3rd and western. After my oil change, the tech suggested I get my front brakes replace since there was only 1mm left. I didn't have time to get it done or else I would have that day. With a day off I decided to get my brakes replaced since I was driving a long distance in a few days. Instead of taking it back to the oil change location I looked up on Yelp and found Hans. Arrived and asked them to change the pads, I didn't ask to have them examined since I trusted the word of the other place. Dropped the car off and came back several hours later, Eric showed me the pads and said I had about 40% left but changed my pads since I asked and assumed I wanted them change due to noise. He was wondering why I wanted them changed since I still had life in the pads. He gave me the old pads and told me to keep them and bring them back next time and he'll throw them back on. His honesty has made a loyal customer out of me. I will be bringing my other car for maintenance as well. Don't go anywhere else! read more

I came across this place while driving around for an auto shop after encountering subpar services from other shops. As other yelp reviewers already mentioned, this place is amazing. I came during rush hour without an appointment, but they were still willing to inspect my car (struts, transmission fluid, etc) and provide reasonable prices. Eric was so courteous, knowledgeable, and articulate about explaining the process of each work, despite his busy schedule and sweltering summer heat.
