The lamb skewers and dumplings were exceptional! The other items are regular. Service was quick, accurate, could be friendlier or more approachable. Ambiance was very nice, nicely decorated and roomy seats. There was a good mix of couples, families, or large group going here. Will come again if in the vicinity.

First time visiting this restaurant. Very friendly staff. Food is delicious. Got to try their lamb skewers. Best I've eaten. If you like lamb you got to get this. Also got to try their lamb dumplings.

I went here for a Friday dinner around 8:15pm and it wasn't too busy. We got sat at a 2-top and they bring some tea for you and we also got a Tsingtao beer as it usually pairs well with spicy lamb foods. We got the sautéed spicy mutton, mutton and fish dumplings, and sesame cake with mutton. The sautéed spicy mutton is a bit spicy with the typical spicy oil and peppercorn, but not really numbing. There is a generous amount of meat even though a good amount of the pieces are bone-in. It's their signature dish and it is also good value. This dish came out super fast. The mutton and fish dumplings were pretty solid. Also good price as there are a lot of pieces, with dumpling sauce on the side. The filling has a nice flavor combination even though you may think mutton and fish sound like a strange combo. The sesame cake with mutton feels like a roast beef sandwich, but a bit more flavorful and the pastry is a baked. It is a substantial portion and for additional flavor, dip it in the chili oil of the sautéed spicy mutton. Service is decent as food comes out quickly and flagging the server down is easy and requests are fulfilled quickly. Overall, this is a solid lamb restaurant in Richmond

The food here is great, but it's an experience. We are Asian but don't speak Cantonese or Mandarin. Was greeted at the door in Mandarin, and repeatedly asked by our server in Mandarin. It didn't make us feel uncomfortable, but after a few times, it was a bit annoying. The food was great. The menu has pictures of everything and the English translations didn't always do the dish justice. If you go with someone who speaks Mandarin, you might have a better time. The parking lot is also packed during peak hours because many people park in their lot and go across the street to Aberdeen mall.

A place that's serves lamb in all the different ways you could ever want! If you are a lamb lover this is a place for you. We got several dishes and some highlights are the sautéed spicy mutton, the lamb chops, the hotpot, and the dumplings!

Lamb chops (8 per order, a bit much for one person!)

Lamb-apocalypse! Holy smokes, if you love to eat cumin spiced lamb like you are in northwest China, then this is your place! Lamb chops, lamb dumplings, lamb skewers, lamb stew... it goes on and on. Lamb chops: a bit fatty, but I like them that way. Comes with some xinjiang spices for extra flavor! Sesame bread: a good vehicle to eat lamb chops with! I made nice lamb sandos for easy eating! Lamb and fish dumplings: I'm not sure what kind of fish but pretty tasty and blended well with lamb. Dumplings tasted like they were homemade. So good dipped in black vinegar. The location is pretty close to the Aberdeen Skytrain station, so it is easy to get to without a car, although there is parking close by too. No shock, but I totally over-ordered. Orders come in large portions, so bring an enormous appetite or some friends when you come!

For all the lamb fans out there, this is the spot to be. I "SHEEP" you not! It's one of the top places for lamb that I've ever visited. Though I do wish their service was a bit more on point. Let's dig right in! Service (3.5/5) - I think the server is always pushing for upsells. Giving recommendations is one thing, but being too focused on making sales and pushing different products onto customers is another. One clear illustration of this problem is when I inquired about their alcohol selection. They would give me varying prices for each brand, and when we opted for the cheaper to mid-range options, they'd either say that they no longer had it or forgot to mention that it was out of stock. Food: (5/5) Sautéed Spice Mutton: MAN OH MAN! the sauce was amazing. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spice. I did order less spicy as I am type of customer that cant really handle spice. If you pair it with beer, it will make your night. This is a must try for dish. Make sure to keep the sauce if you really like it. You can use it to dip your food in and mix up some great flavors! Pan Fried Green onion with Mutton: It is a delicious dish if you pair with a bowl of rice. However this flavor I feel I can get it at any restaurant. Please don't get me wrong. It is an amazing dish and the price is reasonable. If you never tried it before I would recommend it to give it a go. Chinese cabbage with garlic and green bean noodle: YUP! It is a must try. Make sure to enjoy this dish while it's still hot, and don't forget that it has a slightly garlicky and oily flavor. Lamb Skewers: The restaurant did a great job with the balance of lamb fat and meat. The flavor was fantastic, but comparing to other skewer restaurants they have slightly better lamb skewers. Here's what I found out: dipping the skewers in the sauce from the sautéed spice mutton dish made them taste amazing. If they can improve their skewers to match the level of their sautéed spice mutton dish, it would be unbeatable. Lamb burger? (I can't find on the menu) - I personally didn't like it but my friends loved it. I find it dry. My friends loved it and felt it was good with the tea. New Zealand Lamb Ribs: (I added $3 to have the soup). It was one of the best things I have tasted for a long time. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the soup added an extra depth of flavor to the dish. There is one thing to watch out for. Make sure you don't boil the soup for too long or else it becomes really salty. The restaurant will provide you with cilantros, and green onions. If you don't mind the gammy lamb taste I would suggest you to try the soup by itself first then add the cilantros and green onion. I also personally put the lamb on the side. I try the flavor of the lamb first then put the garlic oil on top of the lamb. Let me tell you it was absolutely divine. I'd totally revisit to taste the food again. The last time I went, I noticed they updated the menu and prices are going up. They're now offering a regular price and a membership price. Hopefully, they don't hike up the prices too much and scare off customers.

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Vancouver but their quality has gone down. The grilled lamb rack was well done and doesn't taste fresh. The steam egg had a piece of metal inside.. I'd probably not eat here anymore

If you like lamb you will definitely like this restaurant!! Specializes in lamb preparation, the Chef utilizing techniques from various regions from China to entertain your palate! Must try items : Sautéed Spicy Mutton ( enjoy with a cold beer ) Sliced Lamb in Sesame Bread ( imagine a fresh pita bread with fresh toasted sesame crust! ) Hot & Sour Lamb Tripe Soup ( hearty & light at the same time, the broth is soothing and soul warming! ) They also have steamed buns, noodles and cold appetizers, if you prefer to order smaller sized dishes... Service is outstanding and you will also love the unique Oriental decor! Don't forget to say hi to the Automated Bus Person when it's passing by!! Plenty of free Restaurant designated parking available!

The restaurant had nice decor and digitals for both formal and informal occasions. They are usually not too busy at lunch time so no reservations needed. They specialize in lamb cuisine including lamp soup, lamb noodles, lamb dumplings, lamb inners, lamb genitals, grilled lamb, lamb stew etc. They also serve non- lamb dishes. We ordered lamb stew which came with lots of lamb. The meat were tender, spicy but not gamey. It came with thicker noodles and we ordered additional to dip in the sauce for $3. We also ordered their specialty eggplant fish which was crispy and well seasoned. They had three different types of shao bing. Don't get the one with brown sugar cuz it's not the typical ones you would get in northern China... The complimentary tea was good. They also had a robot delivering food to your table which was fun to watch.

Best lamb I have ever tasted in North America. All the dishes are so well prepared and have distinctive flavors. The bread, the chicken ( a little bit spicy but perfect for me), tripes and ribs are all super delicious. I could not find a bad dish so far. Highly recommended as a northern Chinese cousin restaurant.

I don't think we have something like this in the Bay Area. The service here is very nice. The restaurant itself has a parking lot. There's also street parking available. The concept here is everything is lamb related dishes! We ordered three main entrees for two people: 红焖羊肉(braised lamb): quite tasty but it could be numb. You might want to ask the server to reduce the numbing level, but it's He Nan 河南dish, so people probably just eat this level of numbing. 羊肉生煎包Pan fried Bao w/ lamb filling: very delicious!! Highly recommend this one if you come here. 羊肉胡辣汤Hu La Soup / lamb: this one I'm not a fan to be honest. It's quite sticky with weird ingredients in it. I'm probably not familiar with the ingredients they used, but the taste was okay. Again tasted quite numb. It's not like the hu la soup from Xi An, it's the He Nan 河南 styled. Might be good to order something else.

One of the things that I really love about Richmond is that with such a high population density of Chinese people, you start to see specialty restaurants that you would never see in the US. Case in point- Hao, which specializes in lamb dishes, a dream come true for a lamb-lover like me. We ordered a lot, but here are some highlights: Lamb stomach- not gamy at all, and perfectly sauteed. Lamb chops- rich, decadent, unctuous. Definitely get these. Sesame cake- freshly baked, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Excellent. Lamb and fish dumplings- strange combination, but it works. I could eat these forever. Pan-fried lamb buns- Good ratio of filling to dough, without being overly doughy. Dry lamb noodles- they specialize in lamb here, but all their carb dishes are seriously good as well. Get these for sure. If you don't like lamb, I don't know what to tell you. But if you do, this will be heaven for you!

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? Throughout our visit, the waitress directed almost all of her attention to my husband. She explained everything to him in detail while barely acknowledging me. Even after I placed the entire order for our table, she continued checking only with my husband about everything we needed. When it came to drinks, after the two men had placed their orders, she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything before walking away, as if I were invisible. At the end of the meal, after I paid the bill, she turned to my husband, smiled only at him, and completely ignored me. It was extremely impolite and made me feel disrespected. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. For Sunday lunch time service, only 1 server was working the till, taking and serving orders, and grabbing the check. Everything slowed down considerably. You had to get your own napkins, sauce dishes, sauces, chili oil etc. so had to take 1 star away. But the quality of the food was enough to make it a 4 star review. The rice rolls were of the perfect texture. Generous servings too. The popcorn chicken was salty and savoury with friend basil As well. Very nice touch. I would repeat. Cheers! Happy eating!

For this price, you don't expect the best quality, but I think their food exceeds the price point…read more The rice rolls were soft, but I wish they added more sweet soy sauce as it got dry at the end. Finally! A place that doesn't charge you $5 for a fried dough stick. It was ok - a little on the dense side The wontons were not good. The wontons and soup had no flavor. The cold noodle fen pi was really good. Perfect amount of vinegar and savory. I wish there were more vegetables, so I'm not eating noodles 90% of the time. I would come back for the rice noodle and cold noodle and maybe try their congee next time.
