I've been to many iterations of this restaurant the past couple of years and it has finally turned a new leaf under new management. The menu has expanded vastly and a Chinese restaurant is only as good as their chefs, you can definitely tell in the quality. The food was delicious! We ordered the beef noodle and it was pretty good, I have lowered standards because I often times run into bad ones but this was the first one in a longggg time that had some wok-hay aka fire energy that you want in these noodles. The hainan chicken (half size) was fresh and surprisingly big quantity and the ginger scallion sauce was bomb. Last we got the garlic eggplant which was super flavorful and I don't even like eggplant that much. Salt and pepper pork chop was good and didn't have any overly fatty pieces which I enjoyed. Don't let the low number of reviews fool you, this place is definitely one to try. Service is really good, servers are super friendly, food is probably the best around the area. There are quite a few Chinese food restaurants around this area, but this one is by far the best. Sam Woo cannot even compare. Most of the time, this restaurant is pretty empty and although that may signal an initial red flag; the food, service, and price are amazing and well worth it. We ordered the Yang Chow Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, and House Pan Fried Noodles. Typically, you'd expect most Chinese foods to be covered in grease and filled with MSG, but they don't do that here (obviously, if you're ordering something fried, they will use oil but it's not drenched in it). Everything was freshly prepared and did not make me dizzy/nauseous/sleepy (due to an overload of MSG or greasy oils). The food is still good without all the unhealthy stuff. Service is super quick, and they are all super polite (imagine a friendly Chinese grandma serving her family). They gave us a bowl of peanuts as an appetizer and a Chinese dessert and/or cut oranges after our meals for FREE. Summary: QUALITY: Freshly served with no MSG or an overload of grease/oil. Tastes just as good as any other Chinese food without the unnecessary unhealthy stuff. WAIT TIME: No wait time for seating. (We came around 3-4 PM, so there wasn't any lunch or dinner rush. About 10-20 minutes for the food. PRICE: About $15-20 per dish. That's average considering today's price and inflation. SERVING SIZE: The serving size is pretty big. Most meals should be shared with other people. You'd probably be bloated if you tried to finish the plate of fried rice by yourself. You're definitely getting your money's worth. They've also given out free appetizers (peanuts) and desserts (Chinese tapioca and/or cut oranges). They switch things up but none of it was expected. SERVICE: The service was good. The food was so so so delicious. We had the French style beef filet, West Lake beef soup which was perfectly hot, Chinese broccoli, House Special pan fried noodles and the House Special fried fish. We were originally headed to northern cafe in Cerritos, but I've had this place bookmarked for a while and wanted to give it a shot. Best decision I made all day. We ordered the orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, egg drop soup, vegetable chow mein, and yang chow fried rice. The honey walnut shrimp was some of the best I've had! It came out super hot. The shrimp were crispy and coated in the sauce. The orange chicken was definitely memorable. It wasn't heavily breaded like other places. The yang chow fried rice was killer! I visited here looking for a new Chinese place to eat without having to travel to San Gabriel or Rowland Heights. We ordered three safe dishes which were walnut shrimp, orange chicken, and shrimp pan fried noodles. The walnut shrimp was differnt for me because it was breaded with shrimp chips. Some may like this, however I thought it was a bit overpowerimg for my taste. The next dish was the noodles. The dish looked a little too simple, and perhaps which is why it was submerged with enough gravy for two pan fried noodles. The taste was ok, however I have had better. The finale was the orange chicken which my friend ordered against my better judgement. The server said it was white chicken, but they shredded it like they were making shredded squid. The orange chicken came with a complimentary lobster shell I almost broke my teeth on when chewing. The end of the meal came with a Chinese dessert pudding which actually was the highlight of the meal. They say the best things in life are free. read more

This place recently switched management, the menu has expanded from what it was before. It's a small family owned restaurant that focuses on Chinese food. Its not bad for the size of the restaurant, they currently they serve lobster on the menu. Which is unusual for a small place. The Hainan chicken they had before hasn't changed. Feels like they passed all the recipes they had to the new staff. It's standard Chinese food I would consider similar in taste to some of the larger chains like sam woo near by. I wouldn't mine coming by once a week to eat. The staff is really friendly and they were willing to make small adjustments to our order. Food so far is 5 Cleanliness 5, usually the table condiments are filthy in Chinese places. Give this place a shot. I'll be coming back on rotation. read more

me and my girlfriend were looking for a place with good seafood and stumbled upon this place via yelp and my goodness im glad we did! we were greeted with great welcoming service from the staff. they also periodically checked on us to see how we were doing and i really appreciate places that do that. so this is what we ordered: 1. honey walnut shrimp - my goodness this dish was well above my expectations. i might have to say this is the best honey walnut shrimp ive ever had. it was freshly cooked and crispy yet still being able to be saucy which i usually dont see often when it comes to honey walnut shrimp. overall 10/10. 2. chicken pan fried crispy noodle - again this was another killer dish. noodles crispy on the outer edge, saucy and savory towards the middle. the chicken tender and veggies had a nice bite. wouldve liked more umami or salt into the gravy sauce but overall 9/10. 3. orange chicken - this isnt your typical orange chicken as it does not look like your typical orange chicken from say places like panda express. this was completely their own style and may i say it was amazing. crispy with a thick and sticky orange sauce that included green onions and chili peppers tossed in. the flavor was perfect and the texture was on point. overall 9.2/10. as we were filling our bellies to the brim, i had the thought of asking for our to-go boxes but i didn't even have to ask as one of the servers already knew and brought over the check along with a to-go box and even packed the food for us. i also appreciated them asking how we liked the food and if we were locals, made you feel like you were home. they also ended off the meal by offering us a soy milk kind of dessert with i think pomelo im not completely sure what it was but thats my best description. you also have to enjoy their complementary tea as it does help with digestion. i would gladly come back here and with more friends of mine! I liked the shrimp best, not overcooked. The fried squid with spicy salt was my least favorite, but that was our fault because we asked to reduce the spice because some people in our party did not like spicy. It was still well done though. We were lucky to find this new Chinese spot for Lunar New Years. We did not have a reservation and the staff was very accommodating to seat our fairly large party (8 people) within 10 minutes. The staff was definitely a great part of our experience as they were so kind! We followed their recommendations on ordering and it did not disappoint! Came here based on the good reviews and the photo of the crispy fried oysters. Unfortunately, they were no longer available when we got there a little past noon. So we ordered soup, noodles, seafood, and chicken dishes. Overall, food was not that super tasty. Most of those we ordered were bland! The chicken corn soup and fish fillet fortunately tasted good. We spent close to $ 300. Service was good. Ambiance- nice and clean. Restroom was clean as well.
