I have been going to Happy Does almost every single Saturday for several months now and have no plan to stop in the near future. If anything, Happy Does is underrated! All the staff are friendly and inviting (I comically question some of them though ). I feel like this 'post tax surcharge to cover expenses 'nonsense is getting out of hand. If you want 4% more... just put your prices up 4%. Don't tack it onto the bill. And ABSOLUTELY don't put it on the post-tax amount. $10.07 for a can of beer is a bit spendy - even for the gas lamp district. If you're looking for a place in the sun to hang out on astroturf and play a bit of cornhols though, it's got that going for it. read more

The bar is great, and I would give it a 5 star if it weren't for their karaoke host. We were a party of 8 and arrived at the venue around 8pm. The Karaoke request list was not very long and were told our party member was #5 on the list- awesome! We planned to be there all night and being number 5 meant we could possibly go up again before the night was over. After 3 hours, our party member had still not been called up! We kept getting told "he'll be up soon" over and over again whenever we asked. The Karaoke host even suggested that we tip him more and buy him a shot and then he'd call him up next. We complied and put more cash in the bucket and bought him a shot. Another hour goes by and still did not get called up!! We were a large party consuming food and alcohol, so it is not like we weren't already spending enough money there to have to PAY to Karaoke. We went and asked the host again how much longer and he asked for more money!!!! We reminded him that he had already been tipped and that we bought him a shot. At this point he said we didn't tip him enough and that if we wanted our money back, he'd gladly take our party member off the list. We told him we just wanted him to be called up to sing. However, the host started throwing cash at us from the tip bucket and saying very nasty things in his flamboyant, over-the-top ways. He was very quick to call security and play the victim. We asked to speak to the manager, and she explained this was not the process. He is paid to be there. He is not to ask for payment, or other incentives, for people to sing. She asked the host to call our member up, he said he'd comply but never did. Instead, he asked security to escort us out as if we were the problem. We spent a lot of money there that night and were treated horribly! By reading other comments, I'd say that if they If they want to keep customers happy, the Karaoke process needs to be revised and they need to hire staff who can act in a professional manner. read more

Maybe the person running it could've been more enthusiastic but wasn't a gigantic problem. dang this place is unique! i'm used to bars with nothing but music and a dance floor. this place had an indoor pickleball court lmao. they also had ping pong, shuffleboard, jenga, connect 4, i mean so much fun. the drinks were pretty strong too which i liked. i could see myself pregaming here with the homies and going to a club after. super fun experience. read more

The Saturday night bouncer (guy with long brown hair & glasses) has HORRENDOUS customer service and refused entry to my girlfriend and I. 9:30 PM on a Saturday night, the place was not very busy (we both have out of state ID's). The bouncer looks at my ID, then looks at hers (keep in mind we're born in different years but she is younger), and he says "I need to double check her ID and I may be confiscating it". Who starts a customer interaction that way?? If he went about this in a more polite way I would be okay with it, but why would you say you might confiscate the ID based on a SUSPICION that it's fake?? Note: We both have real ID's, moved to CA recently so don't have our in-state ones yet. I was upset and said "wtf?" as he walked away. He got upset that I reacted the way that I did and took a couple mins to look at the ID. I asked what was going on, then he called a woman over with a security jacket on. He told us that we aren't getting in regardless of if the ID is real or not and he was just seeing if he would be keeping it. Extremely rude way to treat a customer, especially if you STILL don't know if they were using a fake ID or not. A few more moments later; the security lady figured out the ID was legit and told him to give it back to us, she followed up with asking us to leave. I tried to provide feedback about how he addressed us at the start, but she shut me down and said I shouldn't have cussed.. I understand that I could have used a better choice of language, but who starts a customer interaction with "I'm gonna double check this and I may be confiscating it"?? That's no way to treat a customer. I tried calling the place so I could speak with a manager, but went to voicemail after two rings. Left a message and asked for a call back. Will be following up with an additional review once I hear back. It's tough because I frequent this area a lot. This seemed like a cool place to grab a drink after dinner, but it's safe to say I won't be back here nor will recommend this place based on this interaction. Disappointed. read more

Either the oil was not at the right temperature or it was too old or they left the fries and tenders in the oil too long. Super crispy chicken and burned fries. We have previously had the loaded fries and they were good. Mixed drinks are usually top notch. It's a hit a mix with the bartenders John and Stephanie are e great. Went to this bar on a Saturday night, it wasn't too terribly packed but there was a nice crowd. This is like 2 bars in one, there's an inside and an outside patio. Inside was karaoke and some 1990s in between each person, I was also jamming to the music they played outside as well. The people singing karaoke were so fun to watch we didn't want to leave. Karaoke review: This is the place to sing pop or rap only from 2000-2020 only. Other forms of music such as rock n roll is not welcome here. You will possibly get ostracized on stage by the DJ if you deviate. For instance, my song selected was Led Zeppelin "whole lotta love," most people can't hit the high notes but I can and I'm not bad. During the guitar break the DJ the DJ said on the mic I picked a bad song with no singing. Then when the breakdown completes with the high note "WOMAN" the DJ cut the song off a second before the band comes back in with dun-dodo-dodo-dun do dun do dun do dun dun. Lol it's like cutting the song "in the air tonight" by genesis right when Phil collins does the drum breakdown. DJ says sorry bro your song sucks to everyone, I bantered back that he cut it off right at the best part, and walked out ashamed. This is also right after tipping the DJ $15 in front of his face. All in all I understand that my music taste was not a fit for the bar. It's simple, I'll go somewhere else not a big deal. But to be ostracized like that is a new experience for me in my 20 years of doing karaoke. read more
