I got an apple fritter and originally I ordered half a dozen of custard filled cronut holes but the lady heard me wrong and ended up giving me a dozen plain cronut holes instead. This place has been my go to for donuts on my way to work, late night donuts after happy hour and donuts just for the heck of it. Located in the east end of Burlingame avenue right next to the Caltrain station is where you'll find the shop. Plenty of parking so no worries there but keep in mind it is metered in the lot. If you have time you can take a stroll down Burlingame avenue and shop and eat more. I grew up eating lots of donuts so til the time come, I will continue enjoying a fresh old fashioned plain with a cup of coffee. If I'm feeling adventurous I'll splurge and go for a apple fritter and a crueler. If I'm feeling generous I'll usually buy a few dozen to take to work for my coworkers just so they can raise their sugar levels and wired all day. The Bahn Mi is nothing to rave about but it is tasty for my level and I love how they package the veggies in a sealed cup to go for you so it doesn't make the meat and bread soggy. I found out after the fact when viewing menus on Yelp that those are sold in half dozen or dozens, not just the one I got. The very nice employee just gave me one, although not sure if I was charged accordingly. My total came out to $6.65. Pay with cash if you don't want to be charged extra for orders under $10. We started with the cronut hole filled with custard, and this was a delight! The custard was so delicious and there was an adequate amount. As for the cronuts, while the maple and cinnamon flavors were great themselves, the exterior of the cronuts were too toasted to us and tasted slightly bitter, not balanced out from the maple or cinnamon sugar. The texture of the cronuts were lovely in that they were super fluffy, layered, and made a smaller mess when you took a bite than when you take your first bite out of a croissant. There were two tables outside and we sat at one before the line got too long and some running children were scaring my dog.
