Well... A girlfriend of mine treated me to a massage her today. She purchased a deal (prepaid) through Living Social. The place was clean, pretty dark, so I couldn't check out the decor, but they got us started right away. My body/foot massage was fine, but my friend said her masseuse was a bit too heavy handed. I heard her say "a little bit lighter" during her session, so maybe there was a language barrier. Anywho, 70 minutes passed (my friend recalls the deal being for 90 minutes) and the masseuses announce we're finished. My friend and I linger for about 5 minutes (needed to use the bathroom - only one toilet) then finally venture out. As I'm exiting, a woman comes RUNNING after me and saying something I couldn't understand. Turns out she chased me down for a tip. I have never been in a salon that chased you down over a tip, which is optional based on the service received. Strange. We won't be back...the $3 Parking Lot Meter is a super duper antique Old Pasadena artifact, if anyone goes, PLEASE take a picture of it and post! I wish I had snapped a pic myself. read more

I had a Living Social deal which was a bargain - 70 min for $22 (Normally it's priced at $45). I bought 2 - one for me and the other for my mom. I figured it'll be a good Mother's Day present. The lady who did the massage on me was really good..... I forgot her name. The man who did the massage on my mom was not good. She said she felt that the guy didn't really know what he was doing. One minute he'll massage too hard and then the other minute he would be massaging really lightly. When he started to massage her head, she felt that he was about to pull all her hair out since he was massaging THAT HARD. My mom says she won't go back..... I probably won't also since there a lot of foot massage places for $15 in San Gabriel/Alhambra. The reason I bought this LivingSocial deal was because I live down the street. But I won't mind driving down to San Gabriel/Alhambra area for a $15 foot massage rather than $45 (which is the normal price here). read more

If I could have selected zero stars I would have... My experience with this establishment was very straight forward. I called them tonight around 8:30pm to see if they were open, the women I spoke to said 'yes' when I arrived there at 9:15pm they were closed. Both the information on the website as well as the sign hanging from the door say they close at 10pm. Frustrated, I called another 'Happy Feet' located about 2 miles away from the closed location I was at and spoke to another woman who said they were open but weren't taking any customers the remainder of the night as they were fully booked. I asked why the location I was at is closed and her reply was 'sometimes we just close' I then asked her if there is any mention of that policy on there website. To which she replied no but she would mention it to a manager. I then got back in the car to drive 30 minutes home feeling frustrated and disappointed. I won't be trying them again. read more

Groupon brought me here and my friend with a very good deal. It's our first time here. The place is nice and clean. It was a 70 mins foot spa and massage/ reflexology. My only concern is when the masseuse or massage therapist were talking to each other on the middle of the session . My masseuse was good but her phone kept on ringing.. She left and came back to me after 10 mins. My friend said that when she had her back massage, a guy did the massage when initially it was a girl who was doing it. Otherwise the pressure was good and we were relieved of tensions . I hope that they will practice business etiquette by being quiet and respectful. We were there to relax and it was annoying to listen to them talking in their respective languages and giggling. read more

Made a Sunday apptmt for 11am. Parked in front of the business, $1.25/hr at the meter. Otherwise, there's a lot in the back for $3, which is pretty cheap. No free parking anytime except on holidays. Anyway, they had the door propped open with a chair so I had to squeeze through. I guess they just opened but there was nobody at the reception area so I had to call out twice before someone from the back came out. After that, I was led into the massage area. Each pair of massage tables are separated by see-through curtains on the side and solid curtains I guess where the door would be. It seems like everyone there speaks fluent enough English. Good for me since my Mandarin sucks. I had a lady masseuse and she was very good. She did a good job on the neck and back but she gave a fantastic foot massage - the best I've ever had, and I've had many before. I appreciated that she actually did a whole hour massage too. A lot of times, although it's suppose to be 60 minutes, you'll get like 5-10 minutes less. Everyone there was friendly although my masseuse was a bit of a shy lady. This place is actually decorated pretty nicely. I even recognized the background music they were playing. They were instrumental versions of classic Chinese songs that I remembered hearing when I was a kid. Very soothing. The only negative thing was that the towels they use to cover me with shed a ton of lint! My black pants looked like I was attacked by my friend's cats, haha... They have a lot of massage options that were a little confusing to me. I might come back once in a while but they can't beat the price of my favorite place so it won't be that often. read more

First time coming here and I'll come again. We usually go to Heart and Sole;however, they didn't take walk in on Saturday and were booked for a Saturday. We came here with no expectations. They were able to get me and my husband in. Just had to wait maybe 5 minutes. I got the deep tissue and my husband got a signature massage. The masseuse was very good. Good pressure. I was wondering what they were going to do to my feet for 70 minutes, but I ended up getting the deep tissue massage. I loved it. I actually fell asleep for a few minutes. The lady working on me was able to use some good strength on my back that I hadn't found until then. The minor parts I didn't like: The warm water they put my feet in got cool too fast,the bucket they put my feet in to soak was lined in a plastic bag which felt a little weird & they left the door open to the washer/dryer room which even closed would of been able to be slightly heard. However, they do know how to gauge how strong they should go on somebody according to their size and gender. Got the Groupon for gel manicure. I didn't make an appointment however they were able to take me. The nail equipment did not look clean. The nail tech was nice but quiet. She offered me water on a hot day. She did not clean under my nails. She did not put any cuticle oil or any type of liquid after filing/buffing my nails. The gel uv lights were extremely dirty and felt gross when I put my hands on them. It hasn't even been a week and my gel is already peeling off. I would not consider coming here again. read more

Man oh man. Where do I begin. I really wanted to like this place, I really did. I had a Groupon for this massage place so I went to use it for a 60 min full body massage. I really should have read the Yelp reviews before I bought the Groupon since the Groupon seems to have great reviews for some reason. First off, the place itself is located in a really inconvenient part on Colorado. Plan on getting there early to look for street parking. Second, as soon as you walk in there is a nail salon and you're greeted by really rude staff. They act like they don't want you there. I booked my appointment for 2pm and called the day before, the guy who wrote down my name wrote a completely different name and wrote down that I wanted a massage for two people. Even though it was his mistake they made it seem like it was mine and tried to get me to leave? Luckily I saw that my number was listed in their books so I said this was my appointment slot and then they finally believed me and let me in. Already set a bad tone before the massage started. Third, the massage place is past the nail salon area. The massage area smells horrible, like wet mildew. Not sure what's going on there but it smells pretty funky and is not adding to the whole relaxing atmosphere most massage places try to create. This is personal preference but there was a "waterfall" type of sound in the massage parlor and it was incredibly distracting and just really loud! I would prefer if it were only the music playing. My masseuse was actually very nice and I understand many people who work at these establishments don't speak English but I wish there was some more effort to communicate with me. If anyone is sympathetic to non English speakers it would be me and I've been to massage places where the employees speak very little English but they point to areas of your body and ask where you're hurting so they can concentrate on that area. The massage was just basically light touching and rubbing lotion on my body, there was no pressure applied and really strange methods. I obviously still have tension in my problem areas and I don't feel like anything was done for me. One thing I found very strange about her was how she was rushing me to leave, I wanted to use the restroom and take some time getting my shoes on but it seemed like she was standing there waiting for me to tip her. I tipped her because I would never skimp out on a tip but I found that kind of weird and it rubbed me the wrong way. Lastly, the entire concept of their massage space is very awkward and uncomfortable. They don't have individualized rooms (which, again I understand) so each section is divided with a sheer curtain. You're literally not even two feet away from the other customers. You hear all their moans and demands they make to these masseuses and it creates a really jarring environment. Something really off putting that happened was when a new customer came in, and started speaking at FULL VOLUME about what she wanted and kept shouting at her masseuse. She must have been an older lady or was short of hearing but my god, that was one of the most inconsiderate things I've ever seen anyone do. That isn't this establishment's fault but again, the lack of privacy at this place can open you up to unpleasant situations like that. Overall, I would not come back here. I think you basically get what you pay for and I wish I could've given them more stars but I feel as if I'm being really generous. I'll stick to my usual go to place in Silver Lake, the Delight Day Spa. Those are some professionals. read more

The only drawback being its not the most private, tranquil place in the world. You can here the phone ring, and when people come in for their appointments. But when you're paying $22 (living social deal) for an hour plus quality massage, I ain't complaining, just pointing out the reality. I first came here after a Groupon purchase and I must say that it was very easy to come back. I've opted for their Signature Relaxation package and it's wonderful. I definitely recommend this type of massage if you partake in any type of sport or you are just plain sore/tight. Both of my visits have been after I've had running events and this last one was after a very difficult half marathon. The facility is well laid out and although you aren't entirely in a private setting, you are afforded a serene area for your massage. The massage is great and I especially like the neck and face part, it provides a fair amount of stress relief. They are very good at knowing just how much pressure to apply, it's the type of pressure that hurts a bit when it needs to; but nothing overbearing. I had a Groupon for a one-hour reflexology and accupressure massage + milk foot soak, and called before to inquire about appointments for the weekend. Turns out, weekends are very busy, so I was told to come back as a walk-in during a weekday evening. That's fine. An out-of-town friend and I, exhausted from yoga, decided at the last minute to head over to Pasadena to redeem this coupon and get massages. So we headed to Pasadena after calling first to let them know that we were coming. We park ($3 lot behind the shop, honor system when the attendant is not there! You roll up your dollar bills and stick them through the board with slots in them. I love how they are so trusting of us to pay for parking after hours) and walk in through the back. The place was completely empty. The receptionist had her head in her arms, dozing on the front desk. I completely sympathize. It was 9:00 p.m. on a slow Thursday evening. My friend bought a 70-minute massage at the full rate ($40) and they allowed her to pay for tip on the credit card. Super convenient, given that neither of us had very much cash on us. Then, they threw in the foot soak for her too! (it should have been a $5 add-on). We were led to the curtained area where there were massage beds and cushions and foot soak tub with hot milky water. They put towels on us to keep us warm, and then proceeded with the massage. My male therapist got into the tight areas on my shoulders and upper back digging his hands under my shirt and under my bra. That was totally cool with me, but I can see how that can be a little uncomfortable for other people. The massage was delicious, and had the right amount of firmness. As usual with these places, the massage therapists were limited English proficient, but they did make an effort to ask us if the pressure was okay from time to time. I really appreciated that. I was surprised that my massage, which was advertised to just have 30 minutes of accupressure actually ended up being a head-to-toe body accupressure massage for the full 70 minutes. The massage therapist spent a lot of time on our legs, slathering on lotion and being very attentive to our calves and feet. It was heavenly and exactly what I needed. They used hot towels to clean off our legs. Then, on our backs, when we flipped over, they used their elbows into the tight spots, and then even had us pull on them when they stretched us. It was fantastic and exactly what I needed. We walked out very satisfied and feeling limber. read more

Parking is a complete b!tch but I managed to find somewhere to park & had quarters to feed the hungry meter. My appointment was at 2:30 and I arrived early hoping someone would have flaked on their appointment. While sitting patiently, the receptionist asked me if I wanted to take a walk instead of waiting and I said I was fine with waiting since I arrived early... Then she asked me again if I wanted to go for a walk, as if she really wanted me to just leave. It wasn't like I was complaining about waiting! I knew I was early! Since the people before me did end up showing up for their appointment, I decided to ask her if I could use my Living Social coupon at their South Pasadena location, she said yes and called them to make sure I could get started right when I got there... My lady masseuse basically manhandled me for my Living Social acupressure and foot massage - I swear at one point she had me in a figure four arm lock - three times! And she was a tiny woman to boot! She went to town on the knots she tried to work outta my neck and shoulders and I think she only asked me once how the pressure was after I coughed when she had her whole body pressing down on my shoulder blade. I left the joint feeling like a tenderized steak and a big smile on my face so I know that I enjoyed my massage immensely. =) My only wish is that she could have worked on my legs more. For folks who prefer a light touch however, do let the massuese know what your trouble areas are. Oh two things of note that I'd recommend for Happy Feet: Parking - Follow the driving instructions from Yelp. Despite Happy Feet being located on Colorado and across from the Arclight, parking is in the back. You'll kinda go in a loop, but after you turn R onto Union (one way street) from City Hall, turn into the driveway on your left. You can take a small alleyway into the paid parking lot next to it. After 5:00, it's a flat rate of $3. Look at the reception desk and talk with the receptionist that day. Very solid massage. At first the massage was a touch too light but I told him I like more pressure, he adjusted his style and it was magnificent. I explain my problem areas and he paid special attention to loosen up my lower back and shoulders. I will be back!!! Get the 70 minute massage. Totally worth the few extra dollars. The interior is clean, quiet, and with soft music. You jut sort of drift away. Nothing fancy but it's not needed. Communication over the phone is sometimes difficult so stick with basic phrases. If you ask for in-depth, explanations on massage style or different pricing level forget it. Just set up an appointment and go with it. If you go after 5PM, walk the block from City Hall and parking is free. Otherwise it is street parking with a 1 hour limit. Best massage ever by John. Had the neck and shoulder massage for 55 minutes. I've never felt so relaxed after. He knew i had a headache without my mentioning it. Worked every muscle thoroughly, including the face. Two things to know: no private rooms & you keep your clothes on, so dress comfortably. They do mani pedis in the front and the back is where the magic happens. They also have a stamp card. Buy 9 get 10th free. Seriously, this is worth the trip to increasingly mediocre old town Pasadena. My feet and body were definitely happy after my massage! I got a deal for acupressure massage and milk foot soak. Great prices for the amount of time you get. This was the cheapest massage I have gotten so far. I have paid $10-$20 more for massages that were just as good. My back and shoulders are generally tight so they were worked on those areas the most. My face and head were also massaged so that was different. They don't have private rooms so that may be why you are fully clothed during the body massage. Instead they have partitions and curtains dividing every massage table. I will be back! read more

I woke up feeling pretty stiff this morning so I jumped on groupon to sort it out. I chose Happy Feet because I could get a foot massage and a back massage for $25, and being as cheap as I am that's pretty appealing. At first I was kind of confused because I was fully dressed and draped in towels with my feet in a bucket. But it was actually so warm and cozy, I could have fallen asleep. The massage (by John) was awesome. Great pressure where it was needed, and the face and neck massage is so relaxing. Other reviewers say they are too hard but I don't go for massages to be gently tickled by a stranger for an hour. Get your elbow in there, show that spine who's boss! The only downside is that I kept hearing people walking back and forth, and the door to the back room (the laundry room maybe?) was ajar, so I could hear the staff laughing and talking. Slightly annoying, but not enough to scare me away! I'll definitely be stopping by again soon. read more

I used my Living Social deal 70min massage. I have tried many different type of massage but never had massage with cloths on. This was a different experience but not my type. Basically it comes from the name 'Happy Feet' your Feet becomes Very Happy. Good oil massage on my feet up to my knees, very very little on my arms, some on my face and head and neck. The rest was cloths on, towel on top on my back part. Overall it was OK experience for me. It all depends on what you like and what is your type of massage. But its worth the try. Me personally I don't like having massage on my cloths. Parking: There is a parking lot $2 for 2 hour in the back. Very convenient and cheap. Don't drive around and go crazy finding meter parking. Facility: Very clean and nice looking place. Five star for this. read more

My overall experience here was great! This is a review for their full signature massage. The girl at the front, Chi, was very nice and pleasant. I asked for a medium pressure relaxing massage. She said Ying was available. And Ying did not disappoint. You are fully clothed in a semi private area, sectioned off by beautiful sheer panels. Very good massage for the price. Staff was pleasant, my wait time was short even as a walk-in, and my massage therapist was pleasant and proficient. My 90-minute signature massage was perfect. The salon was clean and the atmosphere and music were good. I have no complaints and I will definitely return. The only reason for 4-stars is the massage is cookie-cutter, they don't personalize or ask you anything about yourself or your needs, etc. But that's fine - if I want all that I should be paying far more than $56 for 90 minutes. read more

It's hard get into the mindset for a relaxing massage when the first thing that hits you when you walk into this place is the smell of wet fart. I've had plenty of experience with these foot reflexology massage places, and many of them are holes-in-the-wall, but none of them smell like this. Light a candle or invest in one of those essential oil diffusers for gosh sake. Maybe even throw some bleach in the water fountain. Also their technique was not the best. My masseur would massage spots in a weird jerky motion with no real pressure. If I didn't have a gift card I would have turned right around and left for a better establishment.
