We were in the area shopping around and I encountered this place as a Peruvian fusion/seafood restaurant. Parking was very easy as it is in a shopping complex. The place is not very big but has nice decor inside. Service was good, our waitress helped us choose favorite apps and entrees. Ceviche: My first time trying and it was delicious! The flavors of the raw fish and octopus complemented each other well. Salchipapa: Came out fresh for us and was a great app to start our meal with. Fried fish: Very crunchy, with the fish melting off the bone. Definitely recommend if you come here. All in all great Peruvian food for my first time trying. I'm so happy we found a great Peruvian place to eat! The Lomo Saltado with beef or chicken is flavorful and mouth watering. We make sure to stop by this place every time we have to go to or come back from the airport. There's always people there so sometimes there is a wait but it's not too bad. The food is made to order so sometimes it make take a bit but it's worth it! The free chips and salsa is also great. I don't do spicy at all and the salsa is a bit spicy and has a kick but I can take it so it's not bad. The waiters and hostess are always super friendly and love giving recommendations. read more

We had a great time at this restaurant. I love Peruvian food and this is one of the better restaurants I've been to. We started out with the oysters. Delicious and spicy! My wife had a soup dish with fish and cream that was incredible. I had ceviche Mixto which was also excellent. The service here was great. They don't take anybody for granted who walks through the door. Everybody is friendly. A nice ambience. You have to stay for dessert. I had a custard with Caramel - unbelievable. The flavors of all the dishes were actually good BUT, they tasted like it was lacking. It needed more seasoning and more flavors to get the taste of the dish really stand out. Especially the Tallarin Saltado de Carne, the pasta tasted pretty bland and the good flavors that it did have were subtle. Everything was good just watered down. I was so excited to try the Peruvian restaurant with my friends. The appetizers were very good: empanada, papa rellena, tamale. They weren't what I remembered growing up daughter of a Peruvian father but there are variations. The onion salsa could be improved. We had to ask for spicy salsas which should be provided. The entrees out of 4 were a fail 3 out of 4. The winner was a seafood medley mixed soup. My lomo saltado with tacu tacu arrived cold, slightly dry meat and tasted mostly of soy sauce, no depth in flavor as I was use to. The other 2 were the ceviche with hominy and sweet potatoe with cancha that I remembered my father eating when I was young but my husband did not enjoy. However the small portion of fish he liked. Great Peruvian cuisine and fresh seafood. Since moving to Tampa I have tried numerous South American restaurants and "Go Fish"ranks in my top 3. Primarily because of the excellent food and top notch service. The menu is large but our waitress pointed out some great dishes. Per our server's suggestion, my wife tried a seafood platter with a lime based sauce. I tried the Loma Saltado with chicken. This entree included grilled onions, tomatoes, and french fries. The perfect combination of healthy and unhealthy food. The sauce was spicy, salty, and delicious. Peruvian sauces are unique and made our dinners special. The only downfall for this restaurant is the location (in a strip mall next to Winn Dixie), but the location probably keeps prices competitive. read more

This was my first Peruvian cuisine experience, thanks to a wonderful unofficial yelp event. I'm literally blown away. We had such a large party on a Saturday afternoon that many potential patrons were waiting outside for their turn! The service was incredibly enthusiastic as we heard about the various drinks, foods, and delicacies available. The owner made a heartfelt speech thanking us all for trying the wonders of Peruvian food. Plus, he even had a two piece band there to serenade us! Now, to the food... The ceviche was mind blowing! The flavor and quantity was beyond any reasonable expectation. The fried seafood platter was also delicious! Somehow, they quickly and lightly prepared it so every single piece of seafood, shrimp, calamari, octopus, and shellfish were moist, flaky, and perfect. The quantity was again mind blowing. I also got to try a streak, french fry, and gravy concoction that was also excellent! They offered a wide variety of other dishes but we were too stuffed to try them! Next time I have to get the whole fried fish because I saw another table order it and it looked spectacular! As for the drinks... The blue corn beverage was very unique and refreshing. Unfortunately, they had run out of the homemade variety but the bottled was very satisfying. As for Peruvian beers, they had two varieties. Rather than choose, I ordered dos cervesas and enjoyed them both. One was light and the other was more of a lager style with perfect body and flavor. Now, to the ultimate kicker... The hot sauce. They make their own from a South American pepper called rocoto. It is incredibly good and will cool you off by potentially causing you to sweat profusely. The ambient is nice and the restaurant is pack with people during lunch time. We have the free sample on the appetizer with potato or fried yucca in cream cheese sauce. I like the yucca with cream cheese. My entree is fried fish top with shrimp, mussel, and squid in fish broth. The restaurant did a good job on the on the fish broth. If you use the can fish broth, you need to be careful on the saltiness in the mix. This restaurant is balance their broth with a good technique not to overpower the taste and maintain light level of salty. The squid is well prepared with the softness of the texture. The shrimp count may be in the range of 10 to 15 counts a pound which means larger shrimp. When the restaurant prepares seafood you are looking for the fresh material. The seafood is really fresh and keeps in the quality. This is a restaurant serve a lot ceviche, Peruvian stir fried or deep fried. I would said they are definite are very good on this end. I have not tried their grilled meat dish and that is yet to come. Service is a bit headache since we have a group of 30. Happy Fish has the best ceviche I have ever had in my entire life. I could pretty much just sum up the entire review with just that sentence... However, please allow me to elaborate. Peruvian cuisine is perfect for me because it has Chinese influence. The complimentary crispy wontons with creamy dipping sauce remind me of that as soon as I am seated. The freshest and most flavorful seafood you have ever had in your entire life and pile it high on a platter for under $13. I just want to eat it with chopstix, because it is definitely better than any seafood dish I have had at a sushi restaurant. The flavors punch me in the face with a mix of sweet, sour lime, pungent onion, and a mix of textures. My favorite is the Ceviche Mixto with snappy shrimp, tender squid, and perfect morsels of fish. Presentation is colorful, and if you keep digging, you will find more in the fountain of seafood fluffiness. Wash it down with a glass of iced Chicha Morada (purple corn drink), and probably according to RuPaul---I'm a Happy Fish. My 3rd visit... and the 1st place I came to when I landed. Simply couldn't wait! The Peruvian ceviche is beyond. Tangy sweet goodness w/ a side of yucca and yummy fat corn kernels. I mean the whole dish (and presentation) is divine! Then I also had to try a 'typical' dish so I ordered the 'Bisteck a la Pobre' (the poor person's steak) which comes with deliciously seasoned flank steak, fried egg on top, rice, black beans, plantains, AND French fries. Tampa has become one of our favorite, go to vacation spots. This time we got lucky and stumbled upon this gorgeous place, the ambience with service were both amazing. This place was raggedy and was dreadful. First of all the bathrooms had no soap and no paper towels !!!! Next the food was low key mid the noodles were all right but the rice was horrid. My husband liked it so much he ordered the lunch dish, fried fish fillets, rice & beans. I ordered a dish called Tacu Tacu, rice patty. g, topped with a fried egg and lomo saltado, beef and onions. Sold me because of the eggs. I love eggs. My husband loved his dish, fried fish was amazing. The fish again was fried perfectly, nkt greasy at all. Light, meaty, tasty....oh soo tasty! The rice was nice and beans flavorful. My dish not soo much. Maybe I just didn't know exactly the structure of the dish, particularly the rice patty, but I did not like it. The patty was burned or over crunchy on the bottom, rendering the rice smoky & in my Dominican household, a smoky rice is unacceptable. Again, maybe it was just me. The egg was over cooked. The lomo saltado was a little tough but had a nice flavor. Then, for desert, we ordered what most yelpers said was a must, picarones, peruvian donuts. I did not research the ingredients, pumpkin, you would think, it was good, but no, nope, not at all. And the coffee was not good and it was $3. Overall, the visit to Happy Fish was not bad. After all the great reviews, I decided to order from here through Uber. I don't know whether it was because it's Labor Day and they had different staff or what, but what I got certainly wasn't a four or five star meal. The picture on the right is extra huancaina sauce that I paid $3.99 for. Hardly worth that! The middle picture is of the fettuccine a la huancaina con carne and the meat was so tough we couldn't chew it. The picture on the left is of the Ceviche de pescado. Tasted pretty good, and I don't mind a little extra leche de Tigre but there was so much in this that everything in the bowl was floating in it. I really love this place when you eat in but every time I order to take out there is always an issue I drive from Riverview to Tampa to get it and this time I had my son go get it not only was the mix ceviche missing actual seafood like shrimp and fish they also didn't put shrimp in the chaufa seafood and on top they didn't even add the green sauce.
