Happy to have this new Happy Lemon & Coffee Shop in our backyard, but they definitely need to work out some kinks. We've visited a few times since they've opened with varying levels of success. Happy Lemons have been popping up on the Eastside and I just had to try the bubble waffle! The Issaquah location had their grand opening recently on June 28, and based on earlier reviews, I can say they've already improved a lot! I had quick, friendly service and they even let us do a half regular/half chocolate waffle, which isn't on the menu. These waffles are crispy but gooey and definitely big enough to share! I also got a milk tea with boba, pudding, and lychee jelly that was pretty good. I like how they let you choose how much ice you want and how sweet you want it. The cafe was unexpectedly aesthetic and there's probably enough seating for 30-40 people. It's where the Tully's used to be, next to T-Mobile, and there's plenty of parking! read more

I was so happy to know that more and more boba spots are opening up in Issaquah. Not only does Happy Lemon offer good boba, they also offer bubble waffles (vanilla/chocolate) which you can get as half and half. I always get the oreo puff cream to go with the waffles. I tried their Trifle Cake Boba Milk Tea and it was good! I usually get the Mango Matcha but it was a nice change. The service was great and everyone was really nice. The best boba in the area hands down. And that's coming from an Asian person who grew up drinking boba! Happy Lemon is a respectable brand in China and the quality of their bubble tea is just as good here in the US. They have slightly different drinks in the US like the avocado based drinks! (Of which the Avocado Matcha is my favorite.) This is the third Happy Lemon store in Washington state. It is a lot more spacious than than the other two locative locations and has an extended menu with coffee! Lots of parking spaces in the plaza so that's convenient. They offer limited macaroon milk tea, which are only available at this location (for now at least). The pink one (beetroot) has a caramel flavor and the blue one (butterfly pea) tastes like coconut. Both drinks look pretty cute. It's pretty cool this location also offers Victrola Roastery coffee. I also heard they are gonna pair up with Midori Bakery as well so looking forward to that. I like how they let you order half&half bubble waffle here. The Bellevue Square location doesn't let you do that because "it takes too long". I'm knocking one star off because they don't give you stamp for your drinks here??? read more

I love Happy Lemon because their drinks are great! It's always a nice treat. I just always seem to have bad luck with my drinks because they always get my modifications wrong as if they don't read the labels thoroughly before making them. Whenever I take my drink back due to a mistake on their end, they say sorry but don't seem very apologetic but more irritated . I get that mistakes happen, but I go there a lot, and almost every time I place an order, it's wrong. The attitude when they have to correct it is unacceptable. I feel like they need to brighten their moods a bit when customers come in so that customers would feel more welcomed. They only opened two days ago so maybe they still need to straighten out their ingredients. I ordered a drink topped with rock salt crema (aka salted cheese, not sure why the Seattle Happy Lemons call it something different). My crema had unblended chunks (!!) of cream cheese in it, which makes it really hard and unpleasant to drink. I've never experienced this at other Happy Lemon chains. They remade my drink and it still had those chunks, I saw that the crema came out of a large gallon pitcher. Ended up not finishing the drink. read more

While I'm on a roll giving some local love to Issaquah businesses, I can't forget Happy Lemon. Although I wasn't a huge fan of HL when I first tried it in Bellevue Square, it has definitely grown on me and so glad to have a nice large location in Issaquah. This location is unique in that it is large, with plenty of seating- easily a cafe you can comfortably bring in a laptop and get cozy while you enjoy your boba and bubble waffle. The parking lot isn't great, but unless you show up during the peak lunch rush you'll likely be okay. Worst case you can park in the PCC parking around the corner and walk over. The staff are all young and friendly, and its fun to see them enjoying the music while they work. Much like other shops (i.e. Sharetea) you can request lower levels of sweetness, ice, and make other requests/customizations to get the drink you desire. As for the bubble waffles, I recommend ordering it half chocolate. I might just have to stop in during lunch on Monday to try something new and snap a few photos to update my review. If you're looking for a fun and cozy spot to settle into a book or get some work done while enjoying a treat, I definitely recommend this Happy Lemon location.. cheers! read more

This was such a fun stop in Issaquah! I wanted to try a new bubble tea, because I usually just order green tea or Thai tea with boba. As soon as I walked in, I was overwhelmed by all the drink offerings on the menu, but that waffle smell really got me. I ordered a green tea with boba and a chocolate waffle. There are a ton of ways you can customize the drink, which I appreciate and wish I had time to think through the choices, (you know what I mean?) It's a lot, they will make it with boba, tapioca balls, jelly things, and you can add flavors, more ice, less ice, what kind of milk do you want? The possibilities are endless, and the staff was pretty helpful, although I am sure they get asked the same questions over and over again. Anyway, the drink was great, and I enjoyed every sip. But I gotta talk about the waffle. They make them made or order, so they are warm and fresh. I ordered a chocolate waffle which was light and crispy with a little soft center, not fudgey, but really enjoyable. It's a great treat and it's big enough to share. I am so happy they opened up a location here so close to my house! This place has become a weekly must go to place for our family. My daughter loves the bubble waffles and my son loves their mango smoothie. Their ube milk tea with taro balls was a nice twist to other usual bbt places. My husband usually orders regular milk tea and he has no complaints. It's so convenient that they have DoorDash so I could just order and pick up! Give it a try if you haven't already! I think I tried one of their Ube drinks. This place reminded me of my high school years when I lived on an Air Force base in Okinawa Japan. Terrible experience. My children wanted bubble tea following a bike ride. The location was ideal and we thought we would try something new to our area. For starters the menu is so tightly packed that it's difficult to discern where one item ends and the other begins. On top of that, the amount of options is overwhelming. Due to this we had questions for the cashier. She clearly does not know the product and became flustered as we sought clarity. After struggling to order and giving up on anything for the wife and I, we waited as the children's drinks were prepared. We witnessed chaos. The staff was more concerned with socializing than doing their jobs. There were several employees talking amongst themselves while giggling, and the waffle maker was talking to a friend leaning over the counter. Somewhat unprofessional, but it's a "soft launch". Not a great excuse. Shame for using the paying public as a training ground. The last thing that will likely prevent me from visiting with my family in the future was witnessing one employee come off the streets and jump right into her shift without washing her hands. If that wasn't bad enough the employee who had been the cashier immediately turned around and began to prep food without washing her hands. Completely unacceptable. Aside from the above, for a restaurant that's not even had its grand opening yet it was pretty dingy. The equipment was visibly dented and warn, looked as though cheap paint had been applied, and the furniture purchased from five different garage sales and arranged together. We spoke to the manager prior to leaving and she was apologetic, but quite obviously over her head. What this place needs is a leader, because reputation can only last so long. read more

It is nice to see a location open up near the Costco in Issaquah. I have tried a couple of different teas in last 2-3 months or so. They have good flavor offerings. Option for the waffle makes it a good place to stop by for light refreshments. The thing I cannot seem to justify is their premium pricing. The taste is not drastically different than that from their cheaper competitors which exist on other side of I-90. You need to pay additional for fresh milk, which question what the standard version milk is? A standard milk tea and a waffle costing $16 is total is quite surprising.
