I'd be standing outside, and that we form a long line 6 ft between each and every one of us. Whether or not I saw what the staff members were doing, their drinks are just as good. I got my Kumquat Lemon Green Tea with... maybe lychee jelly? Kumquats are Asians most consumed fruit. Wish to have one in Jamba Juice as a limited time only flavor. Sugar content wasn't a big deal; it's the tartness of the lemon flavor. The acidity of the lemon was intense, it would be close to Meyer lemon. Might not have another cup. Lemon sugar high, anyone? I go to happy lemons a lot. Given that it was a colder day when I wanted to try something different from the cold drinks I normally get. Today i tried the Oolang Medium with 70% sugar and salted cheese served hot. It was a solid drink for me! The sweetness of that oolong tea was just right and the salted cheese actually worked really well with a warm drink to my surprise. They also mixed some matcha powder on the salted cheese. I wouldn't mind getting that drink again. This is across the street from boiling crab so it's something to grab while you're waiting for boiling crab. read more

I've always been a skeptic of salted cheese, because it sounds weird and although I have sampled it -- I would say it was certainly an acquired taste for me. This Happy Lemon is in a busy plaza. The staff are used to heavy foot traffic so you feel really rushed when ordering. The consistency of their drink making is fair and they are mostly speedy even when there are tons of people waiting for their drinks. I love the Happy Lemon chains now. I used to love visiting this location, especially for their D5 (Boba Milk Tea with puff cream) because they were generous with the puff cream compared to other places. However, my recent experiences have been disappointing. Now, the amount of puff cream they add to the D5 has noticeably decreased, and when I pay an extra $1 for additional puff cream, it's served in a small to-go sauce container, which is a downgrade from the larger containers they used to provide. I've noticed that the Story Rd and Mckee location still offers the larger containers for extra puff cream. The D5's combination of puff cream and milk tea is my fav and it's sad to see these changes. read more

The Oreo isn't actually mixed in they just put a little on top. They add about 6 pumps of salted cheese and very little ice. Jasmine lemon slush $4 it was VERY sweet and incredibly sour. When I don't feel like venturing too far out or thinking too deeply about where I should get boba, I usually go with Happy Lemon. The A1 with 50% sweetness is usually the go to for me. It's usually a crowd pleaser amongst my family, as the salted cheese and the tea have a wonderful balance. Salted cheese sounds gross right? But actually it's a wonderfully balanced tea topped with creamy, salted foam made with cream cheese, whipped cream, milk, and probably some other secret magic. Pro tip is NOT to use the straw if you want the true experience! If you drink it through a straw, you'll get all tea and no salted cheese. However, when you sip it front the lid's opening, not only might you get a glorious salted cheese mustache, but you'll get to get the salted cheese and tea in one sip. My sister also seems like the oolong with EXTRA salted cheese, and my brother likes to get the mango matcha - both great options too if you want something different from A1. They have their own rewards program, and unfortunately it isn't digital (which I think is inconvenient). You're given a physical card that looks like a gift card. If you forget your card, they would register you a new one and you can combine it the next time you come which I think is nice of them. That being said, I don't think they're optimizing resources through this physical card option. Parking is a hit or miss, depending on the time of day/day of week. I've fortunately been able to find parking quite easily during my boba stops here, but that's not always the case due to it being in a plaza with many other businesses. read more

It's amazing, the tea is ok, but the waffle is out of this world. It's crunchy when you first bite into it, then it is squishy, soft, and mochi-like. It does take a while to make after you order it though. I dip it into the salted cheese cream (sounds gross but AMAZING) + $1. Would highly recommend this little snack to anyone. It does fill you up quickly though as the dough expands so be careful not to eat it before another meal because you won't have room in your stomach. Also, note to call HappyLemon locations before you go because only certain locations sell the bubble waffle. Mine WRONG only 25% sugar my husband's DELICIOUS super good. I called happy lemon and explained the situation with my drink and after the 2nd call they answered and was happy to fix the issue. The fact that they took ownership right away and took my info to make sure when I arrived they knew I was coming and once they made a new one they asked me to sample it to make sure it was correct and of course it was . Couple of my go-to's include green tea salted cheese, black tea salted cheese, grapefruit yakult, mango matcha, and mango yakult smoothie. New seasonal drinks include avocado matcha (flavors are subtle but the drink is very creamy), and strawberry green/black/oolong teas. There are a handful of tables to sit at and a restroom. This spot can get very crowded but I find that they're pretty efficient and the onscreen queue is helpful. Also, finding parking in this busy Asian lot during peak times is truly a pain. From the boba, the sweetness, and just the taste of the drinks in general. When I get the classic A1, The last two times, it was very bland and the green tea was super strong and bitter. My bff ordered a medium a1 with $1 extra cheese. I asked them to put it in a large cup. They put it in a medium cup and the cheese was the same size I would get if I didn't pay for extra cheese. The line was already forming at the establishment and although we contemplated on going elsewhere, we ultimately decided that Happy Lemon was totally with waiting for. We stand in line and watched it inch forward at a snail's pace. After roughly 20 minutes of standing we finally make our way to the register. I tell the girl I'd like to order a Large Grapefruit Lemon Slushy, Large Lemon Slushy, & Large Boba Milk Tea with Puff Cream. Her response: we are actually out of all slushies. Seriously?? I stood in line for 20 minutes just to walk away with nothing. There must be a better way of Happy Lemon informing patrons that they are out of certain drinks|items. The only thing informing us that they were out was the menu placed on the counter top, right in next to the register with a post-it note. This might be the first Happy Lemon I've come across where: * It wasn't catering to a robust Taiwanese (and or Chinese) community * They spoke really good English * It had enough seating for at least 20 people * It was situated smack dab in the heart of Vietnam, USA (San Jose) * It had ample parking. To no surprise, everything was delicious in true Happy Lemon fashion. My kumquat lemon slushy was tart, refreshing, and very satisfying. I'm trying my hardest not to be a fanboy, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little excited to see it in San Jose. And of course, like many other things I take granted in life, I was drawn to boba tea until I came to the US. I have to say the variety and quality of boba tea market is still relatively low in the US market; however, Happy Lemon does stand out due to its specialty in salted cheese drinks and the consistency of the drinks. At first, the idea of salted cheese in a cold tea drink sounded unappetizing. But after trying it at this place, it changed my mind completely! I've been hearing about this trend for a while now and decided to come here specifically since this place is known for having perfected their recipe. This time, I got the Light Oolong Tea with Salted Cheese and it was a nice blend of bitter tea with one of the most delicious toppings I've ever gotten! The salted cheese tasted nothing like it sounded, but if I were to describe it, it was like a creamy blend of cheesecake with sea salt mixed in for a savory contrast. It was so good that by the time I finished the topping I wanted to replay the moment, haha! There's usually a long line that goes out the door in the evenings, but if you come in at any other time, you should be in and out in a jiffy! As for the other logistics, they keep the place fairly clean but keep essentials like straws and napkins at the corner near of the register. It's a bit of a hassle when you have to risk losing your seat to someone while you get something as simple as a napkin. But this could easily be fixed if there were napkin dispensers at each table. And as for the garbage can, it's right next to one of the tables in the front of the store but is so close to the table that you're literally drinking your tea right next to the garbage. Gross. So the placing of the items is a bit inconvenient. Other than that, they do have one bathroom that is fairly spacious and well kept during business hours. Overall, I say that the drinks are a hit and miss since the cheese might accidentally be mixed in by the time you drink it but is good enough that I would be willing to take that risk again! **Oh and a quick tip before I forget, be sure to adjust the sweetness and ice level to your liking :)! Love this place!! This is the closest Happy Lemon to my house so I frequent here pretty often. Cashiers are generally friendly and are usually completely fine with me being indecisive. There was once a time where my friend accidentally spilled her drink and they handled the situation very well and came out with a mop immediately. They even offered to make her a new drink. As for the drinks I definitely really enjoy all the selections. The classic cheese teas are really good my favorite go to tea is the cheese tea with green tea, but I also really like the milk teas which are really creamy. I would stay away from the pearls though, but that goes for all Happy Lemon places. Their boba is usually tasteless and either has a very chewy texture or very soft texture. It's like falling in love every time you sip on it, actually I am sipping on it as I move my fingers to type this review. The tea itself is actually very good and has just the right amount of sweetness, keep in mind I don't enjoy sweet drinks much. I usually get the A1, salted cheese with green tea and it's actually very A1. The salted cheese compliments the drink really well. They mix together like they have real chemistry. The cheese does not taste like your regular cheese. Sometimes it's so good people would order extra cheese on the side. The other drinks here are good as well. I had some of the lemon teas before which were very refreshing, but they do not compare to my A1. If you are easily overwhelmed by parking, it's best to park at the plaza right next door or across the street at Target. The parking in this plaza gets packed so I suggest you park elsewhere. I was recently introduced to Happy Lemon in the past month. I can't believe it took me this long to realize how good their drinks are. I was skeptical at first knowing that they put cheese on top of their drinks but I totally misjudged their concept. I've been to this specific location 4 times and I'm surprised that there is little to no line every time. However, it's located in an Asian plaza so there are plenty of parking spaces but actual open parking spaces are limited. The staff here are professional and efficient. I get my drink within 5 minutes. The nice thing is that they give you a little marker shaped as a lemon with a number on it that they will call out when your drink is ready. They also have a screen that tells you how far along your drink is. At first, when I was skeptical about the cheese, I ordered their regular oreo milk tea. It was sweet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and it had that hint of milk tea that balanced the flavors really well. When I was ready to try their cheese topping, I ordered their matcha green tea with tiramisu cheese with 75% sweetness and I was amazed! Now I order that every time when I have the chance to come in. It's too bad they open at noon because it would be nice to get a drink to start off my day. No sour face here! After having dinner at Thien Long last Saturday, we walked over to Happy Lemon on the other side of the strip mall to get some bubble tea. I had this place bookmarked a couple months ago after reading fellow Yelper Quyen L.'s glowing review. I was excited to try them out! At around 6:15pm, the line was out the door. Fortunately, one of the workers was taking customers' orders with an iPad so the wait wasn't terrible. I ordered a large Milk Tea with Pudding, Boba, and Lychee Jelly (D7/$4.25) and a large Kumquat Lemon Slushy (H4/$4.50). I was then given a number placard for my order. There were only half a dozen tables inside and we were lucky enough to secure one. I looked around and found the place to be well-maintained. The vibrant color scheme projected an upbeat vibe. There was a large monitor displaying the wait time for your order, much like the ones you see at busy airports! The drinks didn't take long to be ready. My milk tea was fantastic! I was surprised that it wasn't too sweet even at 100% sweetness level (I normally order mine at 25-30%). The tea taste was smooth and the toppings were all very good. I tried some of my brother's slushy. It was tart and refreshing, although a tad too sweet for my taste. The workers I encountered were all very friendly. Happy Lemon definitely deserves five stars in my book because of their high quality drinks, pricing, and upbeat environment. From now on, I will visit them every time I'm in the area.
