Have been to this place several times, I was really impressed the first time food was good and our waitress was great wish I knew her name. We have continued to go here for breakfast and it seems like each time it has gone downhill more and more. The food quality, the friendliness of the staff and we have had the same Waitress the last several times , Paula she isn't accommodating brings out the food incorrect and has no Apologies for it. We waited about an hour for our food this last time and mine was completely over cooked steak, barely any potatoes they were so greasy and the toast was soggy with too much butter and undercooked . I could not believe she even served my meal the way she did. I pointed it out and she acknowledged it and then really did nothing for it ....10% off my meal. Ummmm no, we waited for an hour and had an over cooked steak come out and that's your solution??? I come from a background in the restaurant industry, and that isn't the solution when you have a loyal customer. Completely disappointed in this place. My husband and I agreed on the fact we will not be returning. Complete disappointment as we live across the street. I get places have off days but when your waitress is non apologetic and doesn't right the wrong , that isn't how a business should run. You should take care of your loyal customers. Food was 4-5 stars, service was 2-3. Went there at lunch time on Sunday. Business was steady, but not packed. Sign said "Wait to be Seated", but after multiple employees walked by us without even acknowledging us, I had to flag down a waiter to help get us on the waiting list. The waitress was ok, but she seemed a bit...aloof. And she forgot a few things when bringing out food. Food took a long time, even the waitress said so. This is without a doubt the best breakfast and lunch spot in town. It has great country cooking with amazing Mexican dishes. If you love biscuits and you want one that is not just made like every other place but it is buttery and melts in your mouth without you even bitting into it, this is the place. The French toast is not one that you can get anywhere else--this is one of the most amazing thick Texas toast with a light cover of powder sugar like as if you were to mix French toast and a funnel cake together and had a kid. The omelets are one of a kind, with flavor in every bite. This cafe has a fun atmosphere and is clean. The wait for the food was a little long but looked good when it arrived. I ordered the Greek scramble which was good. The coffee cake was the best part. Unfortunately my husband didn't have the same experience with his meal. He ordered the crab egg Benedict which also looked good upon delivery. He was soon disappointed to find hard boiled eggs on top of the English muffins. Worse was the smelly, brown crab covered in sauce. I could smell it from across the table! We called the waitress over who just shrugged her shoulders and stated that the crab is brown because it's grilled. She couldn't explain the smell though. We decided we didn't want to wait for a new dish, and just shared my scramble. From that point on, we didn't receive more refills, just the check dropped off with no apologies. The meal was removed from the ticket, although we were charged $3 for the side of spinach he did eat. After putting cash with the bill, she walked by and snapped at us to take the cash to the front, not on the table. Let's just say me and the hubs have been here before and loved the food but today was not good. I usually order the cornbeef and hash dish, one of the best I ever tried but today the corn beef was so meager. Wish I took a picture to prove it but I wasn't thinking of it. I heard the customer behind me try to order the same dish as me n the hubs were nearing the end of our own meal and I wanted to turn around and say "it's not good man! They're skimping on the corn beef!" But the hubs overheard the waitress say to the gentleman that they're out of cornbeef now. So it's possible they just skimped on my dish cuz they're too cheap to make more and serve me proper portions! What a disappointment. And the water taste like toilet water lol. One good point is they have good customer service, it's always nice here, I'll try something else on the menu next time! read more

5 Stars for food and decor. 1 Star for professionalism. We've come twice to this location and both times we've encountered the same problem. We had a cheerful blonde bring us the best coffee we've had all week and a taller lady with a black ponytail as our waitress. Both are prompt, courteous and efficiant. But the real problem is the fat crone behind the register. The first visit this old lady (annieta or whatever) bursts in from the next door starts, with no exaggeration, to bark orders to all the waitstaff FROM ACROSS THE RESTURANT. Excuse me? Do not use that tone in a professional workplace. She's yelling at the little blonde who was on the phone with another customer!! The second time we asked a few other tables who seemed to be regulars. Evidently this is commen practice because her parents own the resturant No wonder she works here no one else but mommy and daddy can probably stand her demeaning, condicensding attitude. Food was great, service was even better! We just stopped in on a Sunday morning around brunch time and the restaurant was pretty full but we didn't have much of a wait! The host sat is as soon as possible! Someone took out drink order but they took a while to come but someone else jumped in and took them again! Everyone was apologetic about the wait but it was understandable because of how busy it was! All the staff was very friendly and genuine! I ordered pigs in a blanket and my husband ordered the supreme omelet and we were both satisfied and he eats a lot ! The portions are very generous and their pancakes are delicious and filling! Great family owned and operated restaurant. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was great. They have a mural with a Harbor scene and owner came over and volunteered to take a photo of my family with it when she noticed we about to take a picture. This is such a great little, family owned breakfast restaurant! My bf and I came here on a whim after spending the night across the street at the America's Best Value Inn. We wanted a good and hearty breakfast to kill the hangover and fill our tummies before we started for the road back to LA. I was so completely satisfied with my breakfast. I got the country fried steak with eggs and hash browns & it was so delightful! Huge portions of food, I couldn't finish it, even though I wanted to cuz it was so dang yummy! :p The servers were really friendly and sweet too! So glad we came here! read more

Great place for breakfast. They always have some tasty specials. Here is an important feature. REALLY GOOD GLUTEN FREE pancakes. Not those crappy flat things. Proper pancakes AND they can make it into waffles. The coffee is good and the waitresses are pretty and very nice. We tried so hard to love this place. Have recently moved to the area and wanted a great breakfast spot. This wasn't it and I'm still trying to figure out why people love it. I got the hash with eggs and potatoes. The hash was so dry, like eating hay. The potatoes had no flavor at all. Our waitress seemed put off that she had to serve us. After a slew of beach themed cafes along Coast hwy, Harbor House sits at the end of the road. The vibe is beachy and family-oriented. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We were a large group of 8 and had a field day with their menu. We ordered everything from a short stack to a hearty chicken fried steak. So let's break it all down. The breakfast specials come with your choice of bread, potato, egg and protein. I ordered the chicken fried steak, with eggs over easy, hashbrown, and sourdough toast with a short stack on the side. The chicken fried steak was decent. Not bad but not too memorable. The eggs and hash, on the other hand, were pretty great. Yolk perfectly runny just how I like it, and the hash has beautifully crisped edges to add a great crunch. The short stack, which I didn't eat until the next day because of the sheer size of the plate, was pretty great even as a left over. The greatest thing I probably tasted from the restaurant, however, was something I didn't even order. Before packing up the left overs, I stole a bite of my cousin's coffee cake (which she ordered in lieu of a toast), and it was the best end to a large meal. The cake was moist and the crumble topping was the perfect crunch and sweetness. I was a little jealous of her choice. It a definite must have. After a big breakfast, the staff was more than accommodating with packing up our left overs and how we wanted to split our bill. The one downside was probably the 35 minutes we waited to get our food, but we attributed it to how big our table was and how varied our orders were. Overall a good experience. read more

We waited over an hour for our food. We had a reservation and got seated late due to them forgetting we made it. After getting our food, most of it was over cooked, cold, and not good. Then of a party of 5, they gave them selves a 15% gratuity, saying they do it for "big" parties. A group of 5 is not a big party. Even so, 15% was not deserved. read more

I normally never write on these sites nor do I believe anything anyone has to say. I like first hand experience better. But when I read this Shannon girls post I had to do something. I sat right next to her on Mother's Day and everything she said is a lie. The waitress was very apologetic offered her a brand new steak. Her mother was the one who said no it's fine. The manager inside also said she could have any meal she wanted or a new steak but this was offered to her mother inside while the daughter was still outside. Her mother said no please just heat it up. So I'm not sure about anything else that happened but the harbor house did everything a restaurant could. Just thought the truth should be known. Not fair for someone. To wrongfull judge a restaurant by someone's false lies. OH AND WHILE I'M AT IT.... My husband and I had a amazing breakfast.. First off they were packed... A line out the door... The manager greeted everyone with a smile and made sure we were all ok with the wait.. I had the Nutella & Strawberry waffle.. AMAZING!!! My husband had the greek omelette. He loved it. Our waitress was really nice, made sure we were good even though we had a little bit of a wait. But it was Mother's day that was to be expected... They handed out roses to all the mothers which I thought was a nice touch.. From talking with some of the locals next to us while we waited this place is a sure winner for lunch too.... Stopped in here as I was in the mood for a Tuna Melt. There was plenty of parking in the back and side. As I entered I was not greeted right away and proceeded to a table not knowing if I was suppose to wait or not. The waitress handed me the menu and I casually looked at what they had to offer. I realized their breakfast menu was huge and lunch menu minimal. However they had the tuna melt I desired. The waitress came back took the order. The price was not too bad and they offered a 10% of for Military. The downfall was the order took forever!!! Something that seemed so small turned into a 20 minute wait. The place was not packed so I am not for sure why it took long but it almost made me want to stop waiting. Finally, the Tuna melt arrived and I dived in and the tuna kinda tasted a little like it was freezer burnt maybe?? The only reason why we stopped here was because the 5 fwy was bumper to bumper to san diego. The food here was sooooo bad! We ordered a hamburger and it was NOT GOOD. How can a restaurant not know how to properly make a burger? The chili cheese fries were disgusting too. We asked for ketchup and I swear this bottle was probably kept under a dirty sink or something because it was filthy. The service was not good too.
