Just had dinner there and it was delicious! I have celiac and need to order gluten free , and the servers were all very aware of celiac and the precautions needed. I felt very safe eating there. The in-laws took us to Harbor House when we were visiting them in Milwaukee. They wanted to show us the view of the lake and waterfront, and Harbor House definitely provides that. Otherwise, our meal left some to be desired. This was my first Bartolotta Restaurants experience and afterwards I am not super motivated to try another of their establishments. The parking lot is valet parking only (at least at dinner; $7). We had an early evening reservation and were seated immediately at a table overlooking Milwaukee Bay, with the stunning Milwaukee Art Museum next door. The sun set during our meal which made for amazing light. If you come here and time your meal correctly, you may be fortunate enough to see the wings of the museum open up. We received 5-star service for the duration of our meal. The duo team of servers taking care of us were tremendous--friendly, knowledgable of the menu, and very attentive. Unfortunately, the fare they served was not excellent, particularly considering the price. We had a round of old fashioneds which were pretty good. Hubby and the in-laws shared a half dozen east coast oysters ($17). He ate 4 out of the 6 and said they were briny and tasty, but they may or may not have given him an upset tum tum later. For dinner we had Clam Chowder ($15/bowl), Grilled Whole Sea Bass ($42), Bay of Fundy Salmon ($36), Maine-style Lobster Roll ($29), and the recommended Soft Shell Crab entrée ($60+). My father-in-law considers himself a clam chowder connoisseur and said Harbor House's was "good but nothing to write home about." He liked his sea bass okay. The salmon was also okay but not spectacular. Hubs liked his lobster roll but said that the lobster meat was a little tough. The soft shell crab was not at all what I was expecting. Rather than a single crab, there were 4 tiny crabs. They were breaded in tempura batter and deep-fried, and I feel very much that I ate over $60 of breading, shell, and oil. It was so heavy, and what crab meat was there was fishy tasting. Despite the claim that they have fresh seafood delivered multiple times weekly I am re-reminded not to trust seafood when away from the coasts. The best part of my meal was the Garlicky Broccolini that came with my entrée ($11 as extra side). For dessert, we shared 2 orders of the touted Key Lime Pie ($12 each). I was not a fan of the texture or heavily honeyed?/molassed? graham cracker crust. The filling itself was alright but the crust, filling, and then flamed meringue topping altogether made the dessert so overly sugary. A large bill later, the most enjoyable parts of the meal were the company, the service, and the view. I'd say come for drinks and to enjoy the waterfront, but don't get your expectations too high regarding the food. read more

This place is amazing! The view from this restaurant is spectacular. We were at Harbor House yesterday for Valentine's day - my first time there, it did not disappoint! We ate from the special Valentine four course menu, they had plenty of options on this menu to fit every appetite. The waiters were very knowledgeable about the food on the menu and the different wine pairings that they had with each course. The waiters work in teams there, so there is always someone nearby your table if you need anything. My boyfriend has a nut allergy and they were very accommodating to this during our dinner which made us feel very comfortable dining there. In Milwaukee, Harbor House has always been one of our family's favorite for special occasions. We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries for many years. We had a 3 course meal for dinner. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the wine menu and pairings which was impressive. The oysters were fresh and a great start to the meal. Harbor House is a pretty awesome restaurant right on the lakefront. In fact, I think it is probably one of the best restaurant views in all of Milwaukee. If you love seafood, you'll love this place. My favorite time to go here is during happy hour, from 4-6 p.m. Oysters are $1.25, and there are a bunch of drink specials and other good food. As far as dinner goes, it can be really pricy, but the scallops are some of the best I've ever had. We also came here on Valentine's Day, definitely one of their busiest days. Staff handled it well and they had an updated Valentine's menu, though we didn't order anything from it. If you're thinking of valet-ing your car, the cost during the week is $6, and (I believe) $10 on the weekends. Sometimes this is the way to go, other times I would just suggest parking nearby and walking. All in all, a great Milwaukee staple with amazing lake and city views. read more

***Spoiler Alert*** I'm cutting right to the chase... Harbor House has the best all-you-can-eat brunch I've ever had. That might not sound like much of an endorsement, as I've never really had a good buffet. Don't get me wrong, I've been to many buffets, but I've always left feeling like the buffet focused on quantity over quality. I'm hear to say, Harbor House has quantity AND quality! My wife and I stopped in here on a recent Sunday, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Be forewarned, it ain't cheap: Adults are $39.95 per person. But as we all know, you get what you pay for. At Harbor House that includes: raw oysters, lobster pot-pie, crab legs, made-to-order eggs Benedict, a carving station with roast beef and ham, made-to-order omelettes, I could go on, but you get the point. Anyone from Chicagoland might think this sounds similar to Port Edwards in Algonquin, I'm here to say this crushes Port Edwards. Harbor House is situated on the lake front with beautiful views of Milwaukee. You can wear pretty much anything here, but most people are dressed upscale casual. Service was impeccable. Hands down one of my most favorite places to brunch. I have only been here on the weekends, only for their all-you-can-eat brunches and every time it has been a fantastic experience. The food is good, the sheer amount of oysters, tuna, salmon, crab legs, etc is fantastic. The ambiance is wonderful, with a fantastic view, the Bloody Mary Bar is solid (though I think it could do with a bit more of an upgrade), and service is always on point. We decided to come to Harbor House for Valentine's Day. We ordered the lobster ravioli and the seafood fettuccine. Both were Valentine's Day specials. The seafood fettuccini was amazing. It wasn't too heavy and the seafood was very fresh. The lobster ravioli was delicious. Best seafood in the city. The food arrived very quickly. It was nice to not have to wait for our food, even on a busy night like Valentine's Day. The servers were experts. Very impressive service at the bar and at our table. Our cocktails were also great--the sangria and the cranberry rosemary mule are recommended! For dessert we ordered the carrot cake. The cake was moist and cold. Came with a Carmel drizzle. Absolutely perfect. We can't wait to return for another amazing dining experience. So much to explore on this menu! Seems like you can't go wrong. Summary: The food was not great, but the service was lovely and the view was beautiful. Stick with cocktails. I should note that i moved to the area recently from the east coast where I've eaten a lot of seafood. So maybe if i was from the midwest this place would be great? Hard to say. I feel like that might be true of a lot of restaurants locals here think are amazing and I'm like meh. Anyway. Crab cake appetizer was bland with a fishy taste that was off putting. Served next to a mini salad with lettuce that had gone bad (pink romaine, earthy in flavor). The seafood bisque was a dark orange color and was a puree consistency. It was sweet and I honestly thought there might be sweet potatoes in it, though the waitress assured me there was not. Unlike any seafood bisque I've ever had. The wedge salad is "deconstructed" as in the lettuce was cut for us, and it was the size of a side salad. Very little lettuce. Leaving a pool of toppings on the plate. The bacon one the salad was think and tasty though as was the dressing. The filet cooked medium rare was flavorless and a bit dry. The scallops served with the filet were fine. Not great scallops, not like butter scallops you know? A little fishy. All in all for a seafood restaurant that claims to fly in fresh seafood every day from both coasts (per their website), i found the actual seafood to not taste fresh at all. About 25% of King crab legs were gummy and dry, as though they were opened and sat under light way too long. Key lime pie- crust was dry and too thick and filling was more like a gel paste. I would say the top 5 worst key lime pies I have ever had. Main Server was ambivalent at best and although her team server was sweet and attentive, provided poor attention to detail and actually packed up someone's else's ribeye and gave it to us. When we notified the main server of the error, she "oh well that's a ribeye"....I was so taken back. Saw an advertisement in the airport when I landed and decided to stop by one evening for dinner. I ordered the South African lobster tails to-go. My dinner was absolutely amazing. The chef prepared the lobster tails perfectly!! The spinach was a bit bland, but the red potatoes were delicious. The service took a bit longer than I expected, but the staff were very courteous. Enjoyed a wonderful meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. Arrived for our reservations and waited at the bar for a short time before being seated. Was greeted by our waitstaff. He was extremely friendly and offered recommendations as we asked about the menu. We settled on the steamed mussels. The were delicious. I could have used a straw to drink that broth. Tried to soak it up with the ciabatta served with it. We then split a wedge salad that was the perfect bite with a very flavorful dressing and great croutons. Our main course consisted of the halibut and scallops. The scallops were sweet and perfectly sautéed. The halibut was flakey and fresh. Great choices. We ended our meal with a key lime pie, which was fantastically tart, and olive oil cake that was moist and a treat. Harbor House has the best views in the city. Service and ambiance matched it. I can't believe it took me this long to write a review. Harbor House is located in one of the best spots in terms of views. Set on the shore or Lake Michigan it overlooks the beachfront, art museum and obviously the great Lake. Beautiful in summer but surprisingly great in winter as well. The service is usually pretty great. Last time I dined here one of our servers was great. Had high energy and seemed very passionate about Lobsterapalooza. Our other server wasn't exceptional otherwise prior to that I would have given 5 stars. Food was delicious as always. I got ordered the lobster ravioli wish was a pretty small entree size for the price but other times I have diner here I have been satisfied with portion sizes. My wonderfully generous sister offered to take me out for dinner while she was in town for our older brother's funereal. She suggested The Harbor House, as we both love seafood and our brother was a chef at Pieces Of Eight, the restaurant that was in this location previously. I made a reservation for us at 8:30 and when we arrived at 8:25 we were directed to the bar to wait for our table. We waited until 8:45 and we were neglected almost the entire time by a very distant bartender (he wasn't very busy-he was restocking his garnish tray for most of that time). When we got to the table, the view was very nice and the dining room was busy but not crazy, if that makes sense. Our server was friendly and helpful but a little stressed from the crowd. We started off with an order of calamari. It arrived undercooked and oily. I was told that the calamari was fresh, it clearly was not. Marinara that was served with it tasted like warmed tomato paste with oregano. I then had a cup of chowder. Very average at best. Bland with chewy clams. I would have loved some hot sauce to give it some life, but could not get the attention of anyone and gave up. My sister was raving about her Cesar salad so she shared a few bites with me. Delicious. Best plate of the night. Crisp, chilled Romaine lettuce with fresh shaved Parmesan cheese. My sister ordered a sautéed scallop dish for her entree. The scallops were slightly overdone and for these prices, that's unacceptable. I ordered an 8oz filet, medium rare with King crab legs. The filet was unseasoned and cooked to medium. The portion of crab legs was ridiculous for an asking price of nearly $80. I was given 2 opened, very small King crab legs that were served to me at room temperature. Our server, Mikaela was pleasant however everyone else from the valets, hostess and bartender were snobby and rude. Valet driver actually knowingly charged me twice. What should I have done???, make a scene at this busy gourmet restaurant after burying my brother, while my sis wants to treat. Hands tied. Harbor House is in view from the Milwaukee Art Museum so it's a short walk. I had been here some years ago on a dark winter night when it was called something else. The food was good then and the food is good now under the new name. A friend and I sat at a table in the mid-afternoon spending as much time drinking very good cocktails as eating seafood. Harbor House has valet parking only . It's $4 unless you can find a spot on the very short street in front. My Pinot Gris was delicious to start. The scallop appetizer is exactly as the main course but smaller. Forget the scallops as a dinner idea if you already ordered the app. Strange. Not sure why this makes the best sense to have an appetizer exactly the same as a main course, especially when they are the only scallop options in either section. The giant $79 platter "Ocean Liner" sounded better than actuality. Salmon ceviche was the best thing as an option followed by the lobster. The oysters were just ok - I'd rather have ordered a mix of them straight from the menu instead of this mixed seafood platter to be honest. I also prefer fresh horseradish versus the creamed version that came on the platter simply because of the fresh factor for one and also because the creamed version didn't pack as much punch. The clams were not a flavor I enjoyed. The crab was just yanked out in shreds and put on a seashell plate. Didn't really make any sense to me. I would not go for this app again so much. The next app was the shrimp with beans and arugula. It was a nice size for the price. The shrimp were great! Can never go wrong with arugula - nicely dressed. The bean purée, however was very much over salted. The lobster bisque soup was darker in appearance than I am used to but was very delicious. Really, it was one of the best I've had. I highly recommend a bowl of that before your meal. For dinner I tried the walleye. UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously, this is the dish. Skin side was cooked such a perfectionist golden brown - remembering it again makes me weak in the knees. The walleye fillet was thick and hearty. The side dish was a 1/2 inch diced potato and I am certain with beets mixed in and also chunks of bacon for extra flavor. A personal preference was that the dice was so small that I couldn't tell a beet from a potato which I did not prefer. I'd rather have known my beets from my potatoes and the vegetable not so mutilated and so finely minced. But really, I very highly recommend the walleye. I cannot go above 3 stars despite the beautiful location and good food. We have taken out of town guests here twice. Both times we had reservations. both times we were told we had to wait for a table. The wait times were a half hour and the first time I think they forgot about us because when I went up too ask when our table would be ready, they sat us right away! There is really no excuse for this. If you cannot manage your reservation system any better than this, then don't do reservations! Once seated, the service has been less than stellar for a restaurant with these kinds of prices. Bartolotta establishments seem to like this two waitress per table idea. After mediocre service at the 2 Bartolotta restaurants I''ve been to, I am not sure this is a good idea. The first waitress who has greeted us has always appeared to be more experienced then the one we are told will be assisting her. Then we don't see the experienced waitress again and we feel like we've been assigned the trainee. Drinks go unfilled. Food takes a long time to be served. And wait times between vists are too long. There are too many good restaurants in Milwaukee that are cheaper and have much better service. The Harbor House is a stunning location. Wish it was worth the price. read more

I am a massive Bartolottas fan, Rumpus Room and Lake Park Bistro may be my favorite restaurants in all of Milwaukee. With that said, I was very disappointed in the FOOD when I went to Harbor House. The environment, service and drinks were all excellent. I had the $27 Lobster roll and was not impressed. The bun was so overcooked that it was more like a crouton than a soft buttery hot dog bun that you can normally expect with a lobster roll. If you want a great cocktail while sitting next to Lake Michigan then I would say this is a great place to go. If you want seafood, save your money and go to St Paul's. I did go right after they reopened from Covid so they could be still working out some kinks. read more

A group of us went to the lake to take in the views. One of the group likes fancy schmancy eateries and found this place. Getting here was easy as was parking since it is valet only. The valet is just 6 bucks so well worth the convenience. It was a nice day so we opted to sit outside. Two got surf and turf, another got salmon, and I got the Idaho Rainbow Trout. My dish also included small roasted potatoes and fresh green beans. The entire dish was delicious, and rich. The portion size was just right. Although it was a great night to be outside, the chairs were not comfortable and definitely not on par with the swanky decor of the inside dining area. read more
