I really loved the views, the portion size was a little small for the price. Also the seating was very tight and close to other guest.

My wife and I dined here for the first time in 8 years and came away thinking why did it take so long to come back. The service was fantastic with 2 very attentive servers that serviced us. And the food was fantastic! We consider ourselves "foodies", and really seek out the best of the best dishes. The CALAMARI appetizer was the BEST we have ever had anywhere and both main entrees (Tuna and Linguine and Clams) were fabulous. We cannot wait to go back. read more

My wife and I went here for Valentines Day and had a remarkable time. They went so far out of their way to accomodate us I literally was blown away. I really had my heart set on Ocean fish and they had a limited menu due the Holiday. They went off the board and served me a Sea Bass that was not even on the menu. It was very good but I do not recall the preparation. We also had the Sauteed Shrimp with White Beans and Arugula which was served with a vinaigrette that was well balanced and flavorful. Actually it is much much better than the ones I had in other places. The Maine lobster somehow disappointed me for it is a little bit overcooked. I had the filet/salmon combo. Loved the filet. The salmon was steamed. I thought they'd add something to the sauce to give the salmon some zip, but it was pretty plain. Next time, I'll have the filet and shrimp. The view of the lake, the art museum, and the Milwaukee skyline was was really wonderful. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. I was so excited to take my fiancé here as a surprise while planning our wedding. We even were considering having our reception here after seeing the photos online! I tried to call but no one answered the phone, so I made a reservation online. Upon entering, the place was almost entirely empty and there was no one at the host stand. Eventually a man came over who was very rude and barked at us to put masks on, which we did. He then told us to stand there while he explained "rules" to us, including only having 90 minutes to dine, because apparently you get Covid if you are in an empty restaurant for 91 minutes. He also gave us temperature checks. We were seated, and the waiter would not approach our table to pour us water if we didn't have masks on and told us he was fine if we left instead of dined there. We did just that, and left the restaurant immediately. Rude, intrusive service; taking an entirely absurd political stance on a virus that has a 99.9% survival rate. We will not be having our wedding reception here, and we certainly will never come back or support other Bartolatta establishments. read more

I could not make it beyond the Valet parking!!!! After a few weeks of planning dinner for our 8th. anniversary, I opted on making dinner reservations for a place we had never visited before ( because it was HIGHLY recommended by my boss). We arrived and no valet parking attendants were around, so I proceeded to park our vehicle assuming it was probably to early for any attendants to be in place (we arrived at 2:30 pm.). As we step out of the our vehicle, a valet attendant approaches me and asked where we were headed to.... I responded that I had reservations for the restaurant, and if there was a concern. He hands me a ticket and request that i hand him over my car key, so i advised him that I was already parked and would not need his valet service. He raises his voice, and demands that I give him my car keys once again! I once again tell him that I do not want to hand him my keys. Mind you the parking lot is nearly empty, and we are properly parked. He snatches the ticket out of my hand and stated "this is a valet service, you can get back in your car and park out in the street" and he walks away. At this point I was disgusted and upset, so we both opted to get back into our vehicle and drive off. We had an excellent anniversary despite this young man putting a bitter taste in our mouth, by treating us so poorly and such lack of courteous front-line service. read more

We went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The service was friendly and professional. We ordered cocktails,appetizer, entrees and dessert and all were delicious. Some reviewers on this site have criticized the simple preparations employed here. While we love creative cooking, a really good piece of seafood doesn't need a lot of fuss; simple preparation allows the flavor of the fish to shine through. We did not feel rushed at all. I suppose my review will be the way out of favor one here. It's just one of honesty here. And, I'm NOT sugar coating it. So, our dear friends had taken us here prior to a great Heart concert at the Fiserv. They're regulars here at this one of the locally well known Bartolotta's local restaurant chain. Yes, I'll admit the view is superb. I had just wished the combination dinner I had was the same superb for the 46 bucks. The 6 oz. filet mignon was way overdone when I had asked for medium + (slightly pink). It had a side of bearnaise. The salmon was ok, or acceptable. Served with a dollop of soggy wet spinach and coolish potatoe puree. My wife's scallops were also over cooked. I suppose we should of mentioned this right then. Because we didn't want to delay getting to our fun, nice concert and waiting for them in 'getting it right'. Come on. They've had enough practice. The flourless chocolate cake - DRY at best. Nothing memorable about it. The best part about this place is the beautiful atmosphere, view of Milwaukee, Lake Michigan and the beautiful architecture nearby. The wait staff was fine, but one waiter dumped and mixed our guests wine glass remains into my wife's different vintage wine! Geez. Then Joel our waiter while attentively asking me if I had wanted another cucumber mule was taking my unfinished drink away! Is anyone paying attention anymore? Apparently NOT. I probably wouldn't come back for an expensive dinner. Except maybe for some drinks, the view and maybe I'd try the cheaper Mon. - Fri. ONLY happy hour menu. At least NOT for two woefully prepared meals for the price of a second mortgage! Sorry folks. I wished I could report stellar. I can't. I'm not expecting Bartolotta's management to respond here either. They rarely ever do make mistakes (according to them). read more

I have to say that I have been a fan in the past and with all my heart, root for a restaurant that has one of the best views and atmosphere in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, our latest experience was more than disappointing. We brought all of our out of town relatives here for a 60th wedding anniversary dinner mid July. The night was beautiful, as was the view. Unfortunately, no one in in our party of ten had a great meal. It took an hour to get our order in with the waitress, who seemed preoccupied with other tables. The bread that was dropped at our table chewed like it was from 2 days prior. Very dry. We order champagne and oysters, which were the highlight of the dinner. After that, all went downhill. Everyone's fish/seafood dinners were overdone and very dry. It felt like no one cared. All in all, a great disappointment. Our prior experiences here were much better but as of right now, I would not return, even for the the beautiful view. Sorry Bartolotta's - I am a fan of most of your restaurants but something here has gone wrong. Please fix it. read more

Came here for happy hour on a Wednesday night and sat outside. We wanted to get started in the bar with a nosh and then were thinking about graduating to the dining room for dinner. Obviously a great view and setting, but that was the end of the greatness. The mussels themselves were the smallest mussels I've ever seen (small lima bean sized). They came with no bowl for the shells. The tuna tartare was delivered on what appeared to be a coffee cup saucer with three half-dollar sized crostini's. It was extremely salty and lacked flavor.The fries and oysters were decent. Nothing was cleared as we finished it including empty drink glasses. Waiter forgot one of our drinks and managed to add a ceviche to our bill which we didn't order. Way too many fails for a premier dining destination in Milwaukee. read more

Harbor House is not meeting any of my expectations except for being expensive mediocre food. Fried Calamari($12.75) was not as crispy as the first visit. Cheesecake Factory has better calamari. Maryland Crab Cake($13.50) was all shredded crab and no lumps of crab meat at all. Flavor was ok. Great Lakes Perch Sandwich($16.50) was fried perch that was so thin, it was nearly non existent. Kopp's fish sandwich is comparable for a fraction of the cost. Best part of this dish were the fries. Cioppino($21.75) was quite small and the mussels were absolutely tiny. Definitely was fancy, but not satisfying. Seafood was just steamed and the tomato broth was poured table side. Seafood Tacos($17.50) was three small fish tacos that could have used more flavor and citrus. Maine Lobster Roll($20.95) was ok, but better at Buckley's. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return. Like my first visit, the best part of the meal were the oysters. Even then, they were not shucked well and had fragments if shell inside. read more

My first time and probably will be my last. The setting of this restaurant is perfect and the view was perfect. The service level, however, is disappointing. Considering it is part of a well known restaurant group, the service was less than average. My group and I went here during happy hour and was told that we could only enjoy the happy hour deals at the bar. The waitress then told us that if we go to the bar and order drinks, we can get the happy hour prices, and bring the drinks back to the table. We went to the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartender was nice enough to take our oders, however the manager came and demand that he cancel our orders and that we can't take them back to our table. This is a HUGE turn off. Once back to our table, we ordered 48 oysters! Once they came these things were PEA size! We asked the waitress about the size and she seemed uninterested in listening. Then didn't come back around until we were done. No water refills, no checking in to see if we are ok, nada. For the prices you pay at this place, you will get better food and better service at other high end restaurants in the city. I would not recommend this place. read more

Do not waste your time. We made reservations to eat here on a girls' trip after hearing great things from locals about this place. We were seated quickly, but then waited 20 minutes for waters and our waiter. We order a couple appetizers that were served extremely cold so we had them sent back. Then our food arrived and it was tasteless. Not worth 40 dollars EACH for an entree. We were then given dessert to take home as an apology. normaly our favorite place to eat we use all of the bartolotta resturants, and have no complaints, but last nights valentines dinner was just not good at all. My husband ordered oysters at the bar and i had shrimp good food and drinks. but looking to our right there were the serving staff standing around eating? Not sure if this is a good idea but who knows what the circumstances were? we had made our minds up what to eat for dinner but when we were seated were told there was a 24-26oz lobster not on the menu so we opted for that, the look of the food when it arrived was the first hint at a problem, the lobster shell was dark around the edge as if it had been under a broiler for quite some time, the rosted potates were shriveled and nearly cold and the spinach! just a wet green lump of watery mess, the gravy or sauce not sure was just salty overpowering, i had to give the plate to my husband to try to remove the lobster from its shell it was so tough on the top, he did wrestle with it for sometime, but it was not good so i left it the staff did wrap it to take home but it was just not edible. we did console ourselves with a few glasses of good chapagne so all was not lost. but i love this resturant and everyone has a bad night so we will be back. read more

Been here a year or so ago, and had a very good experience. This time, not so much. It started with the appetizer, we had a dozen oysters -- delivered to the table 45 mins after ordering, and this was with a 5:00 reservation. It was starting to get busy, but not crazy busy. You would think that with two servers, they would know to bring plates. They did not, nor did they identify the oysters or bring any horseradish. We had to wait another 5 mins to waive them down and ask them for some plates, then another 5 mins for them to come back with plates, and they still could not identify the oysters. They were very good though. OK, so we'll put that behind us and enjoy a good meal I had a tenderloin and prawns, and my wife had the tenderloin and scallops. The prawns and scallops were awesome. Very good food and cooked just right. However. each of our steaks were over-cooked. The server tried to excuse it with "the lighting in the restaurant is affected by the sun and lake." He wanted to take them to the kitchen and look at them under the "cook light", and appeared to have wanted us to go with him. That was VERY weird in and of itself. It was an obvious attempt to convince is that they must have been cooked correctly: "come over to our special light and we'll show you." The point that a restaurant like this should know, IT DOESN'T MATTER. If we don't like them, then cook new ones! At $40+ for an entree, you would think they would know that. In any case, I explained that its not just color, its texture. The texture of the filet was clearly not medium rare -- it was dry and very firm -- medium to medium well. So they finally agree to get two new ones. Now this is where it gets really bad. Upon cutting the steaks, they were seared on the outside and completely raw inside. This is not medium rare, but we were not going to complain again as we could eat around the edges and cook it at home since its getting late now. But when we tasted the meat, we look at each other and had to spit it out - it was rancid. I am not kidding -- it was rotten and disgusting. Now, you ask why give it even 2 stars? Well, while the waiter was rather useless, the manager was so very conciliatory and just really nice. She suggested that they would comp our entire bill, drinks appetizers and all. I couldn't do that, so I asked for a bill for what we ate and they did do that and even called their sister restaurant, Lake Park Bistro, to get us a nice table for dessert, which was excellent. . read more

My fiance reserved a table with lake view for us on a Friday at 8pm. We arrived around 745, sat at the bar until they had a table for us. We ordered drinks, he had a blue moon and the cocktail I ordered was too strong for me. The bartender, I believe his name was Nate, didn't have any problem mixing a new drink for me. Our table was ready by 8, had a beautiful view of the lake and art museum. The servers were very attentive and friendly. The food was decent...I had the penne pasta with shrimp. After our meal, they gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which we both thought was very sweet of them. It was key lime pie. A little too sweet so we did not finish it. Still a very nice gesture. All in all, a very nice restaurant for a romantic dinner. We were both pleased. read more

Positively awful service and attitude from the hostess and front desk staff. I could have eaten for free (had a gift card) and chose to not be seated. We arrived at 5:08 for a 5:15 reservation, and were told in a smug fashion "we have not seated our 5:00 reservations yet, so either stand over there, or have a seat at the bar". We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and very professional. When it got to be 5:25 without so much as a "We're sorry, we'll be able to seat you shortly", we left...never to return. I got the impression that the hostess was in over-her-head, something stressful was happening behind-the-scenes, and it was extremely ill-handled. This is my favorite restaurant for so many reasons. The view was fantastic and you cannot go wrong with a single item on the menu. The staff is very attentive and everything is clean and crisp and well done in a classy way. I've been for dinner several times this year and had oysters as an appetizer and was impressed with every choice. Excellent service, even better food!!! I have been wanting to try out Harbor House for a while, and my boyfriend and I decided to take his mother their for her birthday. We had reservations, and when we arrived we asked the hostess if we would be able to sit at a table next to the windows that overlook Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee. When our table was ready, it was beyond our expectations! Literally the best seat in the house located in a the farthest left corner of the building with the most beautiful view of the sunset on the water. Our server introduced himself, and offered us free champagne! YES, FREE. He explained that they had "over poured some glasses." We ordered Blue Whale oysters for an appetizer which were delicious. Our entrees included the two pound lobster, the filet and scallops combination, and the Hawaiian red snapper. Everything was absolutely amazing. No left overs on any of our plates! To top it off, the server brought over a FREE piece of key lime pie for my boyfriend's mother's birthday! The service, the food... truly made it a very special evening! Cannot wait to go back for the oyster happy hour! Nomm nomm nomm. Be prepared to spend a little extra for the top notch food and service. After all, you get what you pay for. read more

We brought my brother here with us after his navy boot camp graduation from the Great Lakes base and not only was the food and venue delicious and beautiful, but our waiter, Morgan, was excellent. He treated us to two free appetizers and then took care of half our meal to thank my brother for his service. I cannot believe how generous they were and we never expected to be treated. This is a perfect place for a date night. Large glass windows allow for a great view of the lake and the city skyline. It's expensive but the food lives up to the price. I had the filet and Maine lobster combo with potato purée and spinach. The lobster was perfect and the steak delicious. They don't have a huge beer selection but they do have a few well chosen rotating craft drafts. They also had Schlitz on tap which I thought was kind of funny considering the rest of the selection. read more

Amazing brunch with Bloody Mary bar and crab legs unlimited! A brunch for two is reasonably priced for what is included. Many fresh seafood options, omelet bar, carving station, oysters, salad and more. I have been here twice and few things I did not like. The crab legs and house Benedict are delicious. The dessert options are awesome my only pass is on the cannoli's which were not great. Everything else is delicious and they have great service! One of the Managers contacted me about the incident. I explained to her that the same scenario and she honestly took no ownership and said that "that is the risk you take when eating raw fish". She then asked if there was anything she could, being that I don't live in Milwaukee I suggested just a refund, she said she would have to get in contact with someone else for that approval, I believe the Store Manager and that she would call me back. It has been 2-3 weeks and I haven't received anything. Why even contact me if you weren't going to do anything about it. read more
