My partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner. If it wasn't for our great server we would not have left happy. The food was good but not great. The dessert was fantastic, I highly recommend the carrot cake. If you are looking to spend more money for the atmosphere then this is the place for that. We waited over 45 minutes for a table even though we had made our reservation weeks in advance. As someone who has worked in the fine dining industry, this was a TERRIBLE look and we almost walked out. We were both upset and disappointed, but our server worked to turn our mood around. In summary, I was not impressed with management or the hosting team as they told us it will be a short wait and it was almost an hour. We most likely will not be back as there are better restaurants in the area that are in this same price range. read more

This place was HUGE. We ended up at the bar since we didn't have a reservation (and wanted to sit at the bar). We were stopping in for a cocktail or two before a late dinner reservation. The views were awesome of the city even at night with all the lights. Our bartenders were friendly and attentive. We ended up ordering a few appetizers to share and I will say the tuna tartare was awesome. It was so tender and melted in your mouth. This was the star of the show for me. Stopped by for lunch on our way - the setting is beautiful with the waterfront location and the ambience overall was quite soothing. Our server was very attentive and gave us great suggestions. We got the salad(very fresh!), the risotto was creamy and flavorful. The pappardelle pasta was excellent with the right finish of mellow heat and crunch from the nuts. The real, and perhaps only, positive of Harbor House is the view. Their prices are high but you know that in advance. For that you expect high quality food/drinks and great service. Neither of those were a reality here. The best thing was the bread and butter. If it wasn't for the view I wold give a 1 star. Save yourself some dollars and walk around the Harbor House and the surrounding area to get the view and then take yourself somewhere else to eat. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Habor House, but it felt good to go back! Had a lovely dinner with some girl friends and we ATE well! Food and drinks! Dinner time was perfect, the sunset was gorgeous so it was a beautiful ambiance for the restaurant. I've never had an issue with their food so you could really do no wrong. ESPECIALLY with the lobster Mac and cheese! It's always on par! The beet salad and the Caesar salads are always a go to along with a great soup (specifically the clam chowder). They tend to have a variety of specials so you will always have some unique options. The night ended with a fresh pot of coffee, a dessert and a glass of brute champagne. All was well! Now yelp family you know I will always explain why I gave the rating I do. While the food was great as well as the indoor service, the valet had a bit of a hiccup. Seeing that this is a restaurant that requires you to use valet for their parking lot (unless you park elsewhere by the lake) then the service outdoor is just as important. It was a busy day for valet for sure, but as we headed out and in line I might add, a customer (man) who decided he didn't want to wait moved in front of the line and got his car right away. HB offers not only one of the best seafood and steak menus in Milwaukee, but it is hands down a feast for the eyes just as much! The food is exquisitely fresh, impeccably prepared, and attentively served! There is nothing I can imagine them doing any better. Our group of four enjoyed the twin tails, the ribeye, the prime filet, oysters, mussels, desserts, coffee, cocktails, and wine. Eye water service by Chris at our window-side hightop. I celebrated by birthday for the first time at Harbor House. Being a big fan of the Lake Park Bistro, I knew HH would be fabulous. The location and the atmosphere are great. And both staff & patrons must follow a rigorous protocol during this pandemic, which is highly appreciated. The service is impeccable. You know you are in a Bartolotta's restaurant. Dinner was lovely. Although I must say that I didn't find much flavor in the New England Lobster Shrimp Clam Pot; I also ordered the key lime and I could only take one bite of it. It had a funny taste to me, and it tasted old to my husband. We had to throw it away! On the other hand, I was disappointed when I couldn't use my birthday reward & my Bartolotta rewards. I had previously checked and the website didn't mention a restriction of this nature. Patrons should be able to apply their rewards balance as a mode of payment, specially when it's not a new rewards member. Still, a lovely restaurant everyone should enjoy at least once. read more

Always come here for our anniversary but didn't have a good experience tonight and decided we won't be back again. Seafood bisque was great and potato purée was excellent, but everything else was sub par and waitress made me feel a bit uncomfortable when I let her know my steak was overdone. For a $250 meal, I expect much better. Disappointing. read more

Went to Harbor House for a date night and had a wonderful time! The ambiance at night is great and being able to see the city lights over the water was a huge plus. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and they were very good. We then tried the clam chowder which was a great, thick consistency. For the entree I had the Bay of Fundy Salmon, which was a big portion size and cooked nicely. The staff are very nice as well. Excited to go back to Harbor House for a future date night! read more

Best meal I've had in Milwaukee. For those familiar with the Austin food scene, Harbor House is on the same level as Uchi. If you are thinking about having a special meal here, do it. With the service, food, drinks, view and in my case the company it was a magical evening. Heads up, you do need to use the valet or Uber in. The valet is only $6 but if you're not expecting that it could be unpleasant. First, the restaurant is gorgeous. It has a very upscale New England cape cottage vibe that reminded me of my trips up the east coast for seafood. The view is almost worth it by itself, and during dinner I got to sit and watch the sun set on Lake Michigan with the lights from the city turning on, as a backdrop to the art museum. Stunning location, beautiful views, and it's the only thing I've been to in Milwaukee that had better views than the jazz club on the 23rd floor of the Pfister. It has an open kitchen which is spotlessly clean. We were early for our reservation and enjoyed the bar, the bartenders were amazing and my lemon drop was perfect. Just before we got seated there was a 10 person party that got settled in, eight minutes after the last person sat down, they had drinks and starters- the service on all levels was excellent. Now for the part we all want to hear about- the food. I adore seafood, because I grew up in Denver and when you're 1,000 miles away from any body of water and the best seafood you've ever experienced was Red Lobster, getting the good stuff for the first time is a religious experience. I've done road trips up the east coast just to enjoy crab in Maryland, traveled to Miami and Tampa just for the seafood, and visited New Orleans during the height of oyster season to enjoy the best gulf oysters as fresh as possible. When I visit family in LA I try to always hit Eddie V's. I am serious about food (to no one's surprise) and serious about travel, and for me, good seafood is always a luxury and a treat worth the effort. Let me explain this appetizer I took a picture of, it was the seafood trio. I don't remember the name but on the right there were fresh anchovies (the best I've ever had) over this beautiful tomato (relish? Chutney?) Where there were hints of sweetness from raisins and the alliums in there (shallots?) were perfectly cooked down and mild. It was stunning. The house cured salmon was delicate, with a little mustard and dill to compliment the fish. It's better than my cured salmon but it's so good I can't even be mad. Finally there was an octopus terrine over polenta. If you haven't had a lot of octopus before it's a nightmare to cook with because it turns rubbery off you cross your eyes at it- but this was richly flavored and delicate. It's served over polenta which is exploding with flavor and isn't gummy or have any of the other issues polenta can have. The bread is obviously made in house and is also fantastic. We also had the crab cake (which is amazing) and the bisque (better than mine which I thought was better than Thomas Keller's- it's REALLY good). My partner had the king crab and it was, no surprise, an extremely high quality and perfectly cooked dish. I had the Connecticut lobster roll which was better than any of the lobster rolls I ever had in Connecticut. The garlicky broccolini was delicious as well. Just everything all around was so good. All of the deserts (we went crazy and got four) were astonishing. I've only had one key lime pie that was better and that was in southern Florida. The chocolate hazelnut desert was rich, decadent, and beautiful. The ginger cheesecake will haunt my dreams. Everything came together for a truly magical evening. The service, the food, the views- amazing. The food is made with care, attention, love, and deep respect for the highest quality ingredients. If you're thinking about going to harbor house and you're on the fence, just go. Took my girlfriend here for her birthday on a Wednesday night. Had reservations and let them know it was her birthday. I had my car valeted and when checked in we were seated right away. Our server Mikayla was amazing! Very attentive and came to check on us often. Ordered some drinks to start off as well as some oysters for appetizers. Drinks came out and they were pretty good. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Then we ordered our entrees. I opted for the lobster cioppino and my gf ordered the rainbow trout. Both of our meal were delicious! Can't say enough good things about the food. They brought her a birthday card and a birthday treat. It was some sort of mousse whip cream treat. We decided on key lime pie to end dinner and it did not disappoint. One of the best I've had in town honestly. Not too tart and not too sweet. Refreshing and perfect way to end a beautiful dinner. We used to love coming here for the Sunday brunch buffet pre-Covid and have gone twice now after the post-pandemic change from a buffet to a fixed multi-course menu. I desperately miss the selection of the buffet (not to mention the build your own Bloody Mary bar), but this new format is understandable. It's good, just not "blow my socks off" good. Both times I went, I started with a Bloody Mary and my husband had an Old Fashioned, which we was pleased was made with Buffalo Trace. For my meal, I opted to go with the "up-charged" snow crab legs to start, followed by the prime rib and then finally the butter cake. Everything was delicious, it just wasn't outstanding or something unique that I couldn't get somewhere else. Service here is always 10/10 - and the ambiance/view can't be beat. I have wanted to come here for some time now. My husband took me here the other night to celebrate my 35th birthday. First of all, there is valet parking only. Something I did wish we knew a head of time. (We actually turned around, drove down the street a little and cleaned out the car since we were valeting if you have kids, you know what I mean) When we got inside it was beautifully clean! It's white all over, gives a very nautical clean vibe. Everyone was dressed to the part, clean crisp aprons, hair contained. They moved very nicely in a busy environment. Our servers were both great in the team service that they provide. One thing I loved (I come from kitchens so I really pay attention to these things) on my way to the bathroom there was a spot where only one person could walk through the hallway by the bar because there was a plant. And a server stopped and welcomed me through instead of racing me to the gap to walk through first. Letting the guest through first is a very small thing to do but it didn't go unnoticed. That gentleman had a cool mustache incase management sees this. We really connected with our server or the dessert which I'll get at soon. But over all the service was great! Okay last but not least the food! We got the shrimp cocktail and wedge as starters. The wedge was SO GOOD. The shrimp cocktail was great too but it is my only take away. We got two pieces that weren't cleaned the best. They weren't horrible but if your someone who saved up your money to dine at a place like this, you want it to be spotless. Again, we weren't mad, it was very tasty still but that is my only takeaway. We then shared the crab legs and lobster Mac n cheese(fantastic). They came with green beans and potatoes. They were the BEST green beans I've ever had. No lie. I'm not the biggest fan of green beans and those were BOMB! For dessert we got the butter cake and carrot cake. The carrot cake is the best I've had in Milwaukee. Very very good. And the butter cake...GET OUT OF HERE!! It was the best. There was some lemon curd or something mixed into it, with crème friache ice cream. I want to scream about this dessert. Glad my kids didn't come because I would of eaten theirs too. 10/10 will be back. I know this place has reviews where they talk about the price. It really is worth it. If you want to come here and check it out but not willing to spend a ton, they have a burger on the menu I believe it was like $17 and the cheapest beer was $7. I had a wonderful experience at the Harbor house yesterday. I made reservations to celebrate a special occasion so let's get into the review! Arrival- we valeted the car and it was nice walking into the restaurant under the heaters in the covered entrance. We were greeted right away and asked to sit at the bar until our table was ready. Hosts were really nice as well. At the bar we ordered a mimosa and non alcoholic mojito. Bartender was great with suggestions. We were seated in a great seat with a nice view of the kitchen as well as Lake Michigan. Food- the food was phenomenal. We did the 3 course brunch do for starters we had the salmon and the crab cake. For entrees we had the lobster Benedict. The lobster was very buttery! And for dessert we had the creme brûlée and the apple crumble which was just okay but I think it was more of a personal preference and might be amazing to someone else. Because Harbor House is on the pricey end, I haven't been too often, but when I have it's always been a great experience! I finally took my husband here for date night, as he's never been before. Five stars all around! We were informed the wait time for indoor seating was a few hours (not surprising on a Friday night!) but were offered to speak to the host on the patio. The outside wait was only 45 minutes, which we were more than happy to grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the gorgeous Milwaukee views in the mean time. I had a Moscow Mule and he had a classic Old Fashioned... can't go wrong. The restaurant sits out on Lake Michigan overlooking the skyline with the Milwaukee Art Museum straight in front. It really is a beautiful setting. Once we were seated, we started with Seafood Ceviche as an app. It was a great light bite and absolutely delicious. For dinner I had the Alaskan Halibut, served over cous cous, asparagus, sweet peas, zucchini, and basil broth. My hubby ordered the grilled tuna nicosie which came on top of a medley of greens, fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, capture berries, hard boiled egg, and olive tapenade. In case you weren't aware or couldn't already tell... Harbor House is a fresh seafood restaurant! Everything was even better than expected. Food, service, location, ambience. It's a beautiful restaurant with views of the lake but you pay for the view. it's very expensive. The food was great. The service was great. The king crab portion was too small. I had rainbow trout which was excellent. Oysters were amazing. I removed a star due to the price. it wasn't worth the price when compared to less expensive, yet expensive...restaurants. That makes no sense. Another star was removed due to the two schmucks who were parking cars. They're running a racket. We pull in and they offer valet parking. The lot was 20ft away. I park..... 20ft away lol. They run over and start pushing me. Letting me know I have to use valet. The issue wasn't as much the measly $6, but how they approached me. They acted like they owned the place. Unbelievable. I look around and the lot is half empty. He states he needs my keys to move the car. I said where? Why would you need to move the car. "Well I just need your keys."So I give him my keys." So my dinner starts off with two kids basically screwing with me. The other kid was looking at me like I ripped him off. This is before I walk in the place for the first time and drop over $300! I don't care how much money you have your a schmuck if you let two punks park your car 20ft away. We ate and when I opened the door he was half way to the car. Open's the car door for me and says it's $6. I was shocked and told him to jump in the lake. He then says don't come back. What I should have done is talked to the manager, but it was my X's birthday dinner with our son. I was going to call and complain but I don't like to spin my wheels. They're probably the best they can get. I don't blame the manager but why would I go back. it shouldn't happen in one of the most expensive places in the city. I've been to Harbor House once a year as a destination from Chicago for the past five years. Typically, great facilities and ordinarily great staff with great food. This time was different. We visited for my wife's birthday, so not a national holiday (yet ). It was a Friday evening for an 8PM reservation. Harbor House is part of the Bartolotta Group of restaurants and they all seem to have the same "team serving" scenario. We know this because we ate at three of their restaurants this past week. Many years ago, when I was starting as a server, our trainer related an experience where the team serving concept was used. What was true then is still true today. It's confusing. Who takes your order, who serves your food, who do you talk to when things don't go exactly right? Who's the lead and who's the subordinate? And, quite frankly, who do I tip if one part of the service is good and the other part of the service isn't? Our server "Nessa" was friendly and competent. Her presumed assistant "Reese" was less so. As an example, my wife ordered a cup of Clam Chowder from Nessa. When Reese brought it, the cup was only filled about 40%. When I asked Reese if that was 'normal', she said that "the reason we do that is because the bowls of soup are so large" and walked away. Okay, weird. Then my wife tasted it and it was just lukewarm. We flagged down Nessa. She replaced the dish with hot soup and oddly, the cup was now full. So, Reese was obviously making an excuse for her incompetence. The rest of the service was like that. All of our food was tepid as if Reese let it sit for a few minutes too long before bringing it to the table. Another weird point is that Nessa disappeared in the middle of service and never came back. After about 20 minutes Reese showed up again and asked if we'd like to order dessert. We were so disappointed by this point that we said "no, just the check". When Reese came back with the check, she brought my wife a 'sort of' panna cotta, which was truly bland and tasteless. The question is, why try to upsell us dessert if you'd planned on giving her a dessert for free anyway? Just bad form. Understanding that every restaurant has the occasional bad night, we're giving Harbor House a break for a while. When you have the reputation they do and I'm paying several hundred dollars for a special occasion, you do have an obligation to try harder. read more

This place is great! It was our first time here. We were celebrating my wife's 70th birthday. Each staff member wished her a 'Happy Birthday' and gave her a special dessert. The entire staff was friendly, attentive and caring. The food was excellent too. Nice night view from our window table, even though it is winter. My husband and I went here for our first wedding anniversary; they made it so special! Handwritten note, complimentary champagne, etc. On top of that, the food was phenomenal. The King Crab was succulent and prepared in an easy to pull apart manor. The lobster was wonderful, tender and tasty. The raw oysters - we got the Duxburys - were 5/5!! Briney and fresh! The Maryland style crab cake was smaller than expected, but tasty nonetheless. If you're truly used to crab cakes made in Maryland, you probably would be disappointed with this crab cake. We got a few different drinks - the standout star was the blackberry mule, in my opinion! Overall, would recommend. This place is great. We came here for Valentine's weekend. They had a special valentine menu. We got oysters, filet mignon and lobster cioppino. They were all delicious. The steak was so tender. The oysters were fresh and the sauces came with it complimented the oysters bery well. The horseradish was a bit spicy for me. The lobster cioppino cooked just right. The tomato broth brought so much flavor to the whole dish. Additionally, their home breads were so fresh and tasty. I tend to like my cocktails sweet. And their cocktail selections had a lot of sweet option for me. My boyfriend really enjoyed the drinks as well. Moreover, we chose carrot cake for desserts. The carrot cake was not super sweet. The icing and caramel brought the sweetness to the carrot cake. We had such a great time, enjoying good food and looking at the lake. read more

My husband and I went here last night for our 4 year wedding anniversary and we were disappointed to say the least. Everything was average. Food was average, especially for the price (filet was amazing as well as the fried oysters, Tristan lobster tail was average, muscles average, shellfish soup average). Our waitress was nice, however our first drinks (glass of wine and a spotted cow) took over 25mins to get, the 2nd drink took another 20mins after we ordered, as well as our third drink. By the time we orded our third drink we should have just asked for the check right away. Our waitress forgot to order our last round of drinks, so when we got them finally, she said they were on the house so atleast theres that-after waiting for so long. The decor of the restaurant was very nice and modern. Our waitresses, yes we had two were absolutely wonderful and very helpful as this was our first dining experience here. We started off with a recommended oyster flight which again was amazing. Our dinner, roasted chicken and 8oz. Filet were phenomenal perfectly cooked and so very tasty. The Harbor House is among the best dining experiences that you can enjoy in Milwaukee--I highly recommend this space for date night. The food is quality, the views and atmosphere are unparalleled, and the service is top notch. It's seriously no wonder they are the most booked restaurant on OpenTable in Wisconsin. The warm and intimate ambiance and location of The Harbor House makes the experience here. Their lakefront (or almost laketop!) building is situated adjacent to The Milwaukee Art Museum and slightly offset from skyscrapers and the downtown action. You can see Lake Michigan from almost anywhere you sit, but I would definitely recommend asking for a window-side table facing The Milwaukee Art Museum if you can. The views of the lake, the museum, and the city give plenty to look at. If you are looking for something a little different when the weather is warmer, they give the option to dine outside on their patio, which is also a great atmosphere. If you cannot find a table inside, even the bar gives a great and friendly vibe. I've dined at The Harbor House on multiple occasions and the consistency from a food standpoint has been on par each time. I will usually get a few drinks, which are beautifully crafted by the bar, an appetizer, and an entree. Although nothing too special, the appetizers were great for the table to share while waiting for food--I have tried the fried calamari and lobster bisque for my appetizers. For my entree, I always get either their filet mignon or ribeye--these two dishes keep me coming back! If you need to get out but are concerned about covid as many of us are, highly recommend the Harbor House. (And I suspect the other Bartalotta restaurants as well.) They respectfully and in a friendly manner do a temp check at the door; make sure folks know to mask up when moving about; staff is masked; tables limited to 90 minutes; lower capacity and great spacing; plexiglass at the bar to protect everyone so masks can come off; and they have lovely glass particians around tables. Reasonable, looks nice - very European, and protects patrons AND employees. Perfection. And customers were cooperating and acting like adults. Yay. As always food is outstanding. They now have a New England flair to the menu. Some old favorites are gone, but their chowder is excellent; lobster incredible, and the rock fish looks fantastic - can't wait to go back for that, or the authentic clam bake. Sit at the bar, with a great staff including the incomparable Nathan. Get some great wine recommendations and try some excellent pairings. Spin around and enjoy the view. The Siberian caviar with all the toppings is in the coversation for the best caviar I've ever had. In fact, all of the appetizers were delicious and were eaten with a lot of speed which just shows how good they were. The service was insane with every little detail being noted and taken care of. As for my main, they had a market special king crab roll with drawn butter and it rocked my world completely. I don't remember having a seafood roll this good in the Midwest up until this meal. The Harbor House has really turned to crap. I didn't enjoy my dining experience there at all. We went for my aunt's birthday. We had a gift card and I know my aunt was specifically saving it for a special occasion so she was excited to finally use it. Of course, that went downhill fast when they said they weren't accepting gift cards...so was kind of disappointed in that. She was also emailed a birthday "gift" for a bottle of wine, which they sent her, but we were informed she couldn't use that either. The staff wasn't too friendly and just seemed sort of cold, like we should be grateful they were there. If that's management's attitude go ahead and just close the restaurant. They charged us $4 per person as a covid charge or something else...probably to pay for the plexiglass dividers they've added. There's much smaller mom and pop restaurants I've been to that bring in way less money and don't have surcharges during the pandemic...why does Harbor House feel like they are entitled to?? Anyway, the food was subpar and not really impressive. I know my aunt really wanted a seat by the window, but they said they weren't able to do that either. read more
