Horrible House. They put the clam chowder on the table and I could see that it was yellow and thick. The reverse- meniscus is a dead give-away for laden soup. I said nothing to my wife, but she voiced my initial visual opinion. Supposedly in a light cream sauce, it was more like chicken broth based vegetable soup with some clamps and a HUGE amount of starch added. No sand I have to say, but I picked the clams out of the mess. Hospital grade at best, but I have had some delicious soups in hospital cafes. I played it safe with an angus burger, which came half medium-rare and half well done, I think because it got baked with the addition of the flattened cheddar cheese on top. The fries were half-raw and I had to ask for a fully cooked order. Bogus food for 5:30 when they are not busy. My wife got the spinach salad and the dressing was way salty for her, who loves salty food. The upside is that the servers are tops, it's not their fault!, nice bread, and we got out for just under $50 for the food ordeal. Any simple diner strives better to serve good food. I didn't kvetch about the soup initially because I don't like do that, and I didn't want an even crappier entree. Not. Going. Back. There are plenty of better places in Northport, just reserve early. read more

We have dined in at harbor house prior to covid and have gotten take-out multiple times during the pandemic. Every time the food has been amazing! This has been my "go to" place and I've always been very satisfied with the food. Very disappointed today when my son found not one, but two hairs in his lunch. Food was outrageous. Extremely fresh and unique but not out of anyone's comfort zone. Need a reservation most times. Kevin the owner is the warmest and funniest gentlemen. The Tuna Poke is excellent, with avocado and a little spice, served with Pita chips, Buffalo Calamari crisp and spicy and the mussels made with leeks and sambuca are our go to appetizers. Tried this place last night for the first time. So glad we had a reso as every table was taken and folks were waiting. Started with a spinach salad with warm dressing. Very good. First time was good- second time began to see some flaws that shouldn't be- Like a Raw platter that came the the table with NO ice bed- raw oysters and clams were warm- thats a big no-no- second time trying Lobster and that wasn't right as well. We were excited to try this place and after trying it we will never be back. A few things: 1. The hostess was very unfriendly 2. We were never told the specials. Only heard of them (after we finished) when a nearby waiter told another table. 3. Food took forever to come out. Food was decent, however, overpriced for the dishes. 4. When asked to speak to a manager re our concerns, his response was "the waiter was trying to shelter the chef by not telling you the specials because it was so busy" and did not address the length of time it took to bring out food. Nor did he offer anything in return for our unhappiness. There are many other good restaurants in Northport to choose from - choose them and not harbor house. read more

I went there for lunch the food was excellent. I started with the clam chowder the soup definitely had a lot of clams very delicious. My main course was the linguine with lobster and whole clams could not have been more satisfied with the amount of lobster in the meal. Kevin the manager and Caroline the server were amazing and the extended their hospitality to my family and friends. During the busy dinner rush they were able squeeze a table in for us. Caroline was attentive and friendly to the whole family. Not only was the service and hospitality reason enough to return but the food was impeccable. Great cuisine that delivered on quality and taste. Fresh fish and oysters, delicious veal and a well paired wine list. I'll be back for a date with my wife or with the family. I highly recommend it. Harbor House is a gem among all the restaurant offerings in this quaint village. We have sampled many others and this is by far the best meal and atmosphere one could ask for. Our bartender Glen is always knowledgeable and will accommodate any request. The food is excellent; some of our favorites are the Black Sea bass, the filet mignon, and the sole. Food was just ok. Service was very good. Had the lobster roll, a sparse amount of lobster on a toasted roll. Lobster had a small amount of mayonnaise with a few pieces of celery. I found 3 pieces of shell in my food, not very pleasant. It was served with overcooked French fries, that seemed to be previously frozen, and a small dish of what they called coleslaw, but it was at room temperature. The meal was $25. I doubt I'd return and I won't be recommending Harbor House. Very disappointing. read more

My only negative comments are about the ambience - the noise level was unbearable and the restaurant was not that crowded (midweek) secondly, the lighting was awful, the high hats were too bright. Waited for a Saturday night to order and enjoy a ice cold cosmo at the bar. It was served in a white wine glass (bartender told us "we are out of martini glasses, they're being washed in the back"...as he placed the drink in a wine glass in front of me). When the clean martini glasses made there way to the bar, I asked if he could transfer my drink to one, and he did....the new glass was hot to the touch and warmed my cold martini up in no time. My husband and I decided to give this place a shot after a friend recommended it. I'd been dying from a lobster roll and when we checked out the menu I knew we had to give it a shot. We started off with the raw oysters, they came with horseradish sauce and cocktail sauce that were both delicious, and the oysters were so sweet I wish I had ordered a full dozen. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband ordered the prosciutto wrapped chicken breast. I'm picky about my lobster roll, and this one did NOT disappoint! First of all it came on a huge brioche type roll, and was LOADED with lobster. I'm talking at least 4 full claws and then some to make up a beautifully chunky lobster salad. It also came with old bay seasoned fries which were delicious. It was so big I saved half for lunch the next day! To make it better- it was only $25 including fries and coke slaw. For the size of this roll it was so worth it! I honestly think it's the best lobster roll I've had around town. The prosciutto wrapped chicken was also delicious! Juicy, flavorful, and a good portion, came with mashed potatoes and snap peas... yum! This place is new, clean, and provides a very relaxing environment. Service and staff were attentive and helpful. I had stuffed chicken in cognac sauce with prosciutto and more which was delicious and my husband had seafood risotto which was amazing. We had a few apps and a bottle of wine. My wife and I had lunch at the Harbor House this afternoon. It was our first time there and we were honestly blown away! First off, they have a quaint outside dining area in the alley next to the restaurant that is absolutely beautiful. Our waitress (Carol) was polite, friendly and very helpful. She knew all the items on the menu iand offered us her unbiased opinion. But most importantly the food and drinks were exceptional! I appreciate the pressures faced by restaurants in these trying times. We've gone to some old favorites to find the prices have increased, the portions have deceased, but sadly so has the quality. However, that was not the case at the Harbor House. We hit the trifecta! The food was outstanding. My wife got the lobster roll and it was stuffed with lobster and was delicious. I got the Spicy Shrimp Wrap and it too was delicious. If the portions are smaller I can't imagine what they used to be before the pandemic and inflation. All too often I am disappointed with cocktails at restaurants, however again this was not the case at Harbor House. I ordered a "Sour Derby" and it was also delicious. So all in all this restaurants has a beautiful and relaxing outdoor dining area, amazing food at reasonable prices, great cocktails and amazing service. I highly recommend the Harbor House. The warm spinach salad with goat cheese and the grilled salmon were both excellent. Definitely leave room for dessert! The Tuna Poke was fantastic. Huge chunks of tuna with small pieces of mango. Presented beautifully. Portion was so big my husband needed to finish. I had the Lobster Roll which was really good. The fries were perfect! Others at my table had the oysters which they also said was great. The Chicken dish looked wonderful as did the Grouper and everyone said their food tasted great as well. If you are ever in Northport village and want to try a new restaurant with amazing food and good vibes you need to stop at the Harbor House! I am from town, but have never stopped here before. Today I made a great decision! First off, the host (who I believe was the owner) was so kind and I bet a genuine human being. I did not get his name, but he greeted us so kindly and gave us a seat by the window which was a perfect spot. Our waiter was also kind and helpful. We ordered the oysters which were D E L I C I O U S. Fresh. Yummy. It came with horse radish and cocktail sauce. AMAZING combo. And for a great price! For our entree we ordered the cheesy ravioli with sausages and YUMMY is all I can say about that. We also had the clam chowder soup which was immaculate. As a vegetarian it's hard for me to rate a fish restaurant but I went with friends and they seemed to like but not love their meals. For me, the ONLY option besides salad was the black bean burger - there weren't even appetizers I could choose. This item should be entirely retired from every menu - there are so many more veg and vegan options nowadays. It's nothing but a paste of beans and it sat on top of a boring pile of lettuce. The atmosphere was wonderful - they really did a nice job decorating the space. We went on a Wednesday night and it was loud. Not deafening, but loud. There were two young women staffing the tables and they were both helping us. Very nice, but definitely not food service pros. Kept forgetting to bring things over to the table. Not an issue, but I've read that before in other reviews. The drinks were fantastic, so there's that. Other friends who went really like it so it's just a matter of opinion. All in all, I'm glad I went and I wish them success but I don't feel the need to rush back. read more
