This place seriously rocks. What a cool atmosphere, love the outdoor feel of the dining and bar area. Service was outstanding. We were seated almost immediately, even on a busy Friday night. Our server was wonderful, attentive, and checked in regularly to be see if we needed anything. She noticed immediately that I'd been brought out the wrong salad (just had some additional toppings that I didn't want, although I wasn't going to say anything because it was easy enough to remove them) and made the switch for me right away. A manager stopped by the table at one point to ask how everything was going. My husband and daughter raved about their meals. Mine was just a salad, so not much to say about it, but absolutely no complaints. Really this was just a surprisingly great experience, I wouldn't have expected as much from a large chain restaurant. I made easy reservations online as a member of their rewards club and they even confirmed the reservation with me twice. Super friendly staff made me look forward to our nacho night there even more. I had previously eaten the nachos several times but the Nacho Friends had yet to enjoy them as a group. I was very excited because they were one of my favorites on the island. They gave us the super long table in the bar area. Our server Erick was extremely helpful, patient, and quick to get us drinks before happy hour ended. Half the group got stuck in deadlock traffic and then parking issues so they were about 30 minutes late to arrive. This made those that were on time super hungry and it felt like we had to wait an eternity for our nachos to arrive. Our server had put the order in at the same time so everyone would get them at the same time. We should have communicated that it would have been okay to put them in as they were ordered since some people were starving and it would be easier on the kitchen not having to make 20 orders of nachos all at once. Once the food came out, the hangry died down and everyone was stuffing their faces. The open air restaurant was incredibly humid because of the record breaking horribly humid weather we have been having lately. Not much you can do about that except complain to Mother Nature. I have been carrying a hand fan on me, just for occasions like this. The nachos were yummy as I remember, but they just didn't look as good as what I had been boasting to the group as some of the best nachos on the island. The cheese was not all melted and they looked rushed, probably because the kitchen staff was overwhelmed when inundated with the orders all at once. They still tasted the same though. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the night incredibly. I would still recommend Hard Rock nachos as some of the best on the island, but only if you add the grilled pineapple. The last two times I've visited this chain (in 2 different cities) I've been unimpressed by the quality of food and taste. Take away the decorum, rock memorabilia, and music...you still have to remember it's a food restaurant that's suppose to draw you in with good food. Well, it's been a let down twice, the latest one in Honolulu. I did enjoy the live band so that's why I gave it 2 stars but I literally took a few bites of my ribs and asked to box it up. Hard Rock Café is THE place to go in Honolulu for good food, good service, and great Hard Rock merchandise. My family recently visited Honolulu and most of our dinners were at Hard Rock. Every time we discussed where we wanted to eat, my granddaughter always said Hard Rock Café! So Hard Rock it was. The servers are very personable and we always felt welcome. My hubby and I went to Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki (6/11/2017) since our friend's band was doing a gig. For a Sunday night the place had a good crowd. There would be a 30 minute wait for a table so we had a drink at the bar. The bartenders were welcoming. It didn't take long before our ringer buzzed and we headed to our table, in front of the stage. Our server was pleasant and fast. I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and chicken wings. The salad was good but the chicken dry. We were enjoying the music. After the band finished we stayed to finish our beers. The manager comes over to tell us to move to the booth since they would be setting up for a buffet breakfast. We were relaxing and didn't feel like moving anywhere. This is just a review on the service, pupus, dessert, and entertainment. Keep in mind, I have never stepped foot in a Hard Rock Cafe before (except in Osaka). If my dad wanted to see what his heaven would look like, this would be it. Guitars from floor to ceiling, great entertainment(I didn't catch their name but I was told they also play at Jimmy Buffets), and service was awesome. We sat at the bar to meet up with friends. We just ordered dessert but another friends ordered a pupu platter. The pupu platter was HUGE! The best part was you could get full off of half of it and it was only $20. It had buffalo wings, potato skins, onion rings, southwestern eggrolls, and chicken fingers. For dessert we had the apple cobbler. I was a little disappointed that it was on the mushy side. Ben and Jerry's ice cream is always a win so it made the mush a little more appealing. I'm definitely bring my dad and my family back for his birthday. read more

Our server Jeff was extremely rude. I made a simple joke about his name and it wasn't even towards him. The joke was from the movie 21 jump street, the joke being "my name is Jeff" and he claimed I insulted him. So i tried to apologize because I knew he was offended but he was just immature about it. The whole vibe just got ruined after that and the experience sucked. Jeff came to our table maybe once or twice, never came to check on our meals, and was purposely slow. We always come here at multiple times on our visits to Waikiki and this past June was no exception. Our first two visits were enjoyable as always, good food, good drinks, good service. Our final visit was less than we have come to expect. The restaurant is always busy but we got seated in a reasonable amount of time. However our table was in a very awkward spot at the top of the stairs where the balcony joins the main restaurant floor. We chose to keep it since moving would result in more wait time. Our server seemed very rushed and was not very attentive. I was happy to leave when our meal ended. Came in late morning to have a beer, food and watch a football game. The place was empty and we walked up to the bar where not a soul was sitting. Asked what NFL game was playing on the tvs and got the most rude and disrespectful reply from the gal prepping limes for the day. Another gentleman came out since the gal cutting limes clearly doesn't care about football. We asked what game and we're treated to a laugh like we were stupid enough to even ask. Bartenders care more about having an empty restaurant than helping customers. Managers clearly need to teach staff about customer service. read more

We had a craving for apple pie a la mode...my significant other suggested Hard Rock. Immediately, we were greeted by the hostess and waiter. We put our order and the waiter brought us our waters. Shortly after a young lady came over and greeted my significant other. Not sure I saw me sitting beside him but the whole conversation was mainly about of her (that's okay, she was feeling chatty) and for some odd reason, she did not make eye contact w/me. As we are our pie, she asked if everything was alright, of course my significant other said, "yes." And again, she did not make eye contact w/me but it appears as though the question of "How was your pie" was not directly for us but only for him. We ate our pie w/great satisfaction (the pie was PERFECT). Later, she came by and refilled our water, but somehow instead of filling both of our half empty glass, she only filled my significant other's glass. I figure, okay...maybe it's too dark, she didn't see my glass. I continue to enjoy our scrumptious pie. By this time my glass was empty...hint, hint...refill the glass, nope! Did not happen. She came by again, smiled and spoke a bitter to my significant other, as he asked for our check. Did she have eye contact w/me? Sadly, no. We got our check. I took out my credit card and placed the check to my right. She took the check (not sure if she even looked at me...). She returned w/our check only to hand to him, which I took from her. No, eye contact. Our bill was $7.79, which there was a local 15% F & B discount of $1.31. As I filled out tip section/total bill, I thought....the pie was EXCELLENT, the service....well, the service to my significant was excellent being that she paid a keen interest and was very kind to him, but wait, there was the two of us. People that came after us were seated and given their drinks before us. Then our waitress brought out 4 waters and we're still waiting for our 2 coffees. C'mon Hard Rock. Get it together. I know we're in Hawaii and we're running "island time", but 20-25 min for water?? Oh and I know what you're thinking......."maybe it was busy?" NOPE! There was 4 tables seated and 3 waiters working them. Our waitress was Felicia and she gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Byeeee Felicia". The atmosphere is worth an extra star! Otherwise, both the food & the service were unremarkable although not the worst I've seen by far. We had an overworked waiter that wasn't available to take our order for at least 10 minutes but a new waiter jumped in and gave us the best, personalized service anywhere! The new location in Waikiki makes this location a 5-minute walk for most if the hotels, at least in the western half of Waikiki. The menu is not terribly large and the food choices mostly heavy calorie-laden meals - huge hamburgers, steaks, and ribs. They do have an assortment of great salads and smaller sandwiches too but they seem like an afterthought. The restaurant is decorated better than most Hard Rock Cafes I have seen though! I Love the guitar "rainbow" over the entrance. We had live entertainment when we visited and she was an excellent soft rock performer! The store is well stocked with the usual Hard Rock souvenir assortment of jackets, shirts, and pins. I would definitely go here again! read more

I really liked this place. Taco salad with the shredded beef was heavenly! SUPER ONO! So was the guacamole and the chips. Service was attentive and knowledgeable and I appreciate that. We went on a weekday and the place seemed pretty packed, but I was stoked we did not have to wait for a table. Sat on the outside and enjoyed the night life of Waikiki. Food, service and ambiance was great! Would have gave them 5 stars but the mojitos sucked :( I think maybe the mint was old, which gave it a really weird taste. Also, the server took away our appetizer when our entrees came without asking if we were done (although there was only about 1/4 of it left, I wasn't done yet. A pet peeve of mine. I've been to multiple Hard Rock Cafe's all around the country, and this experience was by far my worst yet. The atmosphere, food, and service is normally amazing, but this time I was very disappointed with the service. The restaurant was slow when we arrived and stayed slow throughout our time there, but the service was even slower. Our server only came over to the table when we arrived, and when he brought the check, he didn't ever ask for refills or bring out the food. And when we asked for a box and the check, it took him 5+ minutes for him to come back and tell us that they are already out of all size to go boxes- on Monday at 12pm... and that if we want to take our food with, he could "get us some napkins to wrap the food up into". Then took 5-10 more minutes to return with the check, while running to and from tables all around us multiple times before acting like we exist, because of I'm assuming he wasn't going to get a good tip because of my age. Which just makes it worse. The only reason why I am even giving the review a 2 star is because of the good food, but if you're less than 25 and going there with your same aged significant other, I would either recommend bringing someone who is older, or to find somewhere else to go if you are wanting somewhat decent service. read more

Made reservations for 9 people about a week and a half prior to the date we wanted (Sunday, May 14th). At the end of the call, the guy on the phone spent about a minute telling me all in party had to be in attendance and on time to be seated otherwise they most probably would give our table away. The hostess was so attentive to our kids and even had them write down their favorite songs which she was able to play most, even Taylor Swift at the Hard Rock. For sure the worst service I've received. We waited for two hours to be seated, and another hour to get the food served to us. Mind you we call ahead of time to set the reservation. after our wait time was over and we went and ask why we weren't seated yet they said "oh I'm sorry you guys were suppose to be seated a while ago but our systems went down"..... they took another 20 mins to get our tables together and when we were finally seated we were seated towards the back of the restaurant right next to the strange and we couldn't even converse. We order our food and drinks, some of us got our food and some of us didnt get it until a god 20-30 mins after everyone had already gotten they're food. I we ordered stake and it was cooked completely the opposite wait that we had asked for. The drinks were water down. I was here on Monday night. We decided to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. We stood at the bar for 15 minutes and not once did either bartender acknowledge we were there. The bar wasn't that busy and both bartenders made eye contact with us. There was only two of us. As a server/bartender myself, I acknowledge every customer right away and at least let them know I will be with them shortly, but neither bartender did. I ordered one of the breast cancer awareness pink drinks and the male bartender responded with an attitude while he mentioned it would take at least 5 minutes to make. I decided to go for another drink. I myself would've given an explanation why it would take so long to make a drink. I saw servers at the well stirring three different beers with the same straw to create head, another no no as a server. I understand servers/bartenders are the most critical customers to wait on, this is why I would like to mention our server Bernee when we got to our table. She was awesome! Her service was right on point every step of the way, she even added the promo for breast cancer awareness at the end of our meal. Definitely one of the best servers I've ever had. I wanted to make sure she was acknowledged in this review so I made sure to get her name off of our receipt. So glad she was there to recover after our bad experience at the bar. The food was great, hosts were very friendly. I will be back but hopefully with other bartenders working. read more
