It's over priced but the food is pretty and they have some good variety with the drinks even though those are pretty expensive too. The decor is very cool though and it's within walking distance for tourists in Waikiki. For sure the worst service I've received. We waited for two hours to be seated, and another hour to get the food served to us. Mind you we call ahead of time to set the reservation. after our wait time was over and we went and ask why we weren't seated yet they said "oh I'm sorry you guys were suppose to be seated a while ago but our systems went down"..... they took another 20 mins to get our tables together and when we were finally seated we were seated towards the back of the restaurant right next to the strange and we couldn't even converse. We order our food and drinks, some of us got our food and some of us didnt get it until a god 20-30 mins after everyone had already gotten they're food. I we ordered stake and it was cooked completely the opposite wait that we had asked for. The drinks were water down. Working in the service industry has always made me a bit lenient when it comes to service and quality, however, this was quite possibly the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Sat on the patio where I discovered bird poop on both the table and the silverware. I understand it is not unlikely for bird poop to hit a patio, but on the fork, really?! Our server Malia was extremely awkward and not at all personable right from the beginning. She was in no way helpful and very slow. After dropping off our food she just walked away, never asked if we needed anything else and never came back to check on us once. The food itself was terrible, especially for the price. We shared the Goat Cheese Chicken sandwich. The chicken was rubbery and it seemed to have come out of a can or at least wasn't fresh in the least. The sandwich had zero flavor until you were lucky enough to get a bite with a craisin in it. The side salad wasn't bad, but that's hard to mess up. The one redeeming quality was the hosts and hostesses, very kind when we were greeted and when we were leaving. Overall very terrible and will never visit again! read more

Great meal here tonight. Not too loud and server Jack did a great job of serving our party of 7. The LIVE entertainment was fabulous. A guitarist/vocalist Terry was entertaining with her own versions of several popular songs like "piece of my heart" and "Me and Bobby McGee" as well as originals. We tried to eat at the Hard Rock twice but had problems both times. It was very close to the Wyndham Royal Gardens where we were staying so we thought we would give it a try. The first time we went they didn't want to seat a party of six even though they had open tables. The second time the bar tender was rude and refused to serve us unless we got a table. Again, they were not busy. The staff at the Hard Rock is lazy, lazy, lazy! There are too many other good places on Waikiki to waste your time with the Hard Rock Cafe. read more

We had a welcome mixer event here last week for our family and friends coming from different ends of the world. We ordered a few of the platters for our guests and everyone seemed happy with the food. Our servers were very prompt with taking drink and supplying drink orders - I don't think I ever went without a drink in my hand. They were also flexible and allowed us to stay nearly an extra hour after our event was supposed to finish as we were having such a grey time. The only disappointment was the set up of the area. We thought we might be more separate from the rest of the restaurant, but we were very close to other tables and the table setup made it a little hard for people to mingle easily. I think there was a misunderstanding (or I wasn't clear) when organizing that we didn't require sit down space for everyone and wanted more standing, cocktail space. We were also next to the band, so we had to make sure that we got our welcome speeches out of the way quickly before it got too loud. But otherwise it was a fun night. read more

We've been there 3 times. The 1st and 3rd were excellent, I love the Fish Taco's.. seriously, they're Awesome!!! The second time left me bitter for over a year. First off, the female waitress sat down with us and was clearly on "Ice"! She would not stop talking. We ordered our drinks and orderve. They came within 10-15 minutes. We then ordered our food. It took us about 10-15 more minutes to eat the Nacho's. Well, 30 more minutes went by and we hadn't recieved our food nor had we seen our waitress. So, we decided to leave at that point.. 45 minutes had went by without drink refills or food. Just as soon as we got to the front desk at the top of the stairs, she was bringing out our food... Grrrrrr!!! I paid and got it to go... the manager came over offering Gift Cards and apologizing. The manager did seem caring and understanding of the situation.. he even looked at the time we were seated.. was vary apologetic. The damage was already done, though and the experience was permanently burned into my head. Well recently we had friends from the "Mainland" visit and still had those gift cards. So we thought what the hay.. give it a shot one again (this is around 1 year and a couple months later). We had a wonderful experience, waiter was pretty bland.. none the less was a good experience!!! Note to self --- If a Waiter or Waitress sits down with you and talks for 5-10 minutes... My wife and I attended a fund raiser for Access Surfs at the Hard Rock Cafe several weeks ago and the service was excellent. "Steph" was our main wait help person and she was friendly, professional and right on target with her service. A week or so later, we were in the area again and my son wanted to try eating at Hard Rock so we had dinner there. Turns out "Steph" was our server again and again she provided excellent service. These are the only two times we have been to Hard Rock Cafe in Waikiki, but in those two times, the service was A+....really great in this day when service is so important. read more

Horrible! We came to celebrate a birthday we made a reservation of 14 and added 2 more. Our tables we're separated, but that was fine. Our waiter then comes to our table and as I tried to order a drink, one of the girls spilt theirs and our entire table were denied drinks. Our husbands are at another table where they all got served. Then comes the manager named navini golsman I believe her name is came to the table. Said I was being aggressive.....didn't try to resolve or make the issue any better. Isn't that what a manager is suppose to do? This women was completely unprofessional. We had awful service, everyone was in a bad mood right off the bat and the server couldn't give me a legit reason as to why myself as an individual of age could not get a drink? I had to get up and get my own drink from the bartender who holds a blue card but got denied by the waiter that does not. Makes sense. Come to find out that the manager who had an attitude the whole time with us went to other customers and was telling them that we were "rude assholes" that later came to our table to let us know. We came to enjoy a birthday and get served and we didn't get that. On top of that we get our bills and all our husbands got a mil discount and we didn't. 0% tip and we will never be back. read more

We visited Hard Rock Cafe for Dinner our first night in Waikiki. The decor was great. Suprisingly, the service was not so good. The people who were supposed to seat us seemed to be confused, take their time, maybe put others before us who came after, it was strange - then they wanted to seat us near the loud loud musicians (so loud that you couldn't really enjoy the meal) and when asking if we could sit further away and outside it seemed to be troublesome to them - although they did work it out. When we were served, the burger came mooing... Take that one back. The huge nacho plate was huge... But -- it could have tasted better. It was good, fine, but just could have been better. We had shown the server a coupon card that the hotel had given us before we ordered. She looked at it, and after we were done eating -- it turned out that the coupon didn't go with the nacho's appetizer. So we couldn't use the coupon. But -- one of the people who could make the decision did offer to give us a percentage off the meal, and that came close to the price of the coupon anyway - so that was very thoughtful. We aren't complainers, just telling it like it is. I was suprised. I think the staff just needs some more training, they could improve the recipe for the nachos, and the kitchen staff needs to be a little more careful to grill a medium hamburger better, it shouldn't come out mooing. read more

Let me start by saying this is my first yelp post. I am definitely not the type of guy that takes time out to post on yelp. So what brings me here now? I went to the Hard Rock this last friday night going away party for a friend we had diner reservation for 9 for 14 guests. The place is gorgeous everything from the guitars going up the walls to all the rocknroll memorabilia! Nice large area with a good layout for watching live music. So trouble starts when I ask when kings of spades was taking stage. I was informed that they weren't playing although we were told they were when we called for reservation. Alright no big deal we get to our food which was delicious had the steak and mash potatos the server seems a bit overwhelmed but we did have a party of 12 so its understandable. So u ask why then the one star review. Well get this at 10pm they start charging a door fee of $8 ok thats nothing new except this place goes a step further and proceeds to walk around to every table and starts charging everyone 8 dollars. First am trying to enjoy my diner, second who the hell does that this a national chain not some hole n the wall bar. We jus got done spending over 400 on food and drinks and u gonna interrupt my diner to charge me a cover charge crazy! We would have spent far more in drinks had we stayed. Great loooking place but just not ran real well. By 11pm when we all walked out there was about 4 tables left. .... not a good sign dead at 11pm hope they change that policy!!!!!! read more

Management refused to honor a coupon :-( A dining experience is a complete package: Quality food PLUS exemplary service. We don't recall whether the food was great, because we were disappointed by a "snafu" in the service ... We showed our server a $10-off-$50 coupon that our hotel had forwarded to us directly from this Hard Rock Cafe location; and were told to wait until the end of the meal to present it. Our bill was over $50, but the manager declined to honor it, because the dessert item was alcoholic (alcohol was excluded from the coupon, which we knew). However, if a customer orders an item from a dessert menu (not the liquor menu!), and the customer believes it to come under the heading of food, not alcohol; then management should not quibble over $10 (are you in jeopardy of going bankrupt over $10 .?? I think not), and should make the effort to acquiesce to the customer's expectation of honoring the coupon / gift card. The "offer" that management came up with was: buy another item, and we'll re-calculate the bill ... (???). Guess what? I really don't care about a measly $10 ... What I do care about is that management would actually go to the length, in their thinking, to try to quibble with a customer about such a small amount ..??? You know who lost out on this? The server; because I would have tipped (20 -22 %) on the pre-discount amount ... Instead, I was disinclined to do so; and tipped a mere 15% on the now lower amount ... She would have received an extra $10 (the $10 that I would have saved on the meal). Too bad, eh :-( read more

I had some of the worst customer service of my life at the HRC this past Friday. We waited 15 minutes before i had to flag a waiter (any waiter!) to at least take our drink orders. it was about 20 minutes after that before he wandered back over with our drinks. He seemed surprised that we requested to order food from the menu. I suppose he actually thought we just wandered in to drink some water inside of a HRC. At any rate, the waiter who was actually supposed to take care of our table was deliberately ignoring us. He never asked if we needed anything, he never took over from the substitute waiter. Our appetizers took about 20 minutes to come out. We had to repeatedly ask about our actual entrees. They finally came about 45 minutes after we received our appetizers. And no. I'm not exaggerating. I was checking my watch because it was just so outrageous. The bad thing is that we were the ONLY Black customers in the restaurant, and i don't believe it was a coincidence that we were receiving such poor service. The waitress who ultimately brought out our food practically threw it at me and literally she never actually stopped while placing the food on the table. She was in motion the entire time. Ridiculous. Tristan, the manager was such a sweetheart though. He gave us a free meal and had us come back another day as VIP customers. read more

We went here for dinner on a Sunday night. We called ahead to see how long the wait was and was told there was no waiting. When we got there was asked for a table near the railing with a view of the street. The gal said yes we have plenty of seating just go upstairs. When we got upstairs the guy at the top was rude and told us it was first come first serve (there were at least 4 table empty that we would have liked to sat at) they guy (he had purple hair) gave us a pager and told us to go wait over there and pointed his finger in a general direction. We tried to ask how long the wait was but we were dismissed. We waited about 30 min for a table and again asked to be seating next to the railing and we were told that that table was for someone else (we think the same guy did not like us for some reason and did not want us to seat us where we requested). We were not happy to begin with. The menu hardly had any good food choices and it was too late to get up and leave. So we ordered the big appetizer platter and a salad. We did not like it all! I'm ready to leave due to her attitude but I order a bud. Drinks come via another sever n then the manager arrives who starts by saying here in Waikiki things change. I don't need excuses,she was rude, your menus are out of date n misleading n her attitude is the issue. I couldn't care less if the beer was on tap,the point is I saw it on the menu so don't make it sound like I'm stupid, don't try n justify your incompetence by saying thing change all the time, that's lame.Your franchise is hard rock n the tourists love it,my reason for goin to your establishment was the music.I refused to pay for my beer cos it wasn't what I wanted n u coming up to interrupt my evening with excuses was enough for me to cash out. read more

We Loved this restaurant! My Daughter has Celiac it is NOT easy to find a restaurant willing and able to to help us with her dietary needs. But Hard Rock Cafe in Waikiki went above and beyond. I emailed prior and they researched their menu out for me we had many emails back and for th and the day we arrived they called to let us know they were ready for us. WOW. When we came to eat they realized that some of the food they had listed may not be completely safe because it didn't state it for sure (didn't contain ingredients but it could be processed with them) So they quickly jumped to it offering us oodles of other stuff they could make special for her. She ended up with two lettuce wraps with grilled chicken and the fixins and no kidding I swear 4 servings of fresh fruit. SHE WAS IN HEAVEN. They didn't just fix it and forget us they kept making sure she was fine. They cleared a spot in the kitchen to prepare her meal only one person touched it and it came out by itself! The worst dining experience we have had at a hard rock cafe. Me and my husband who travel around the world always love to dine at the hard rock cafe because of it's down to earth feeling but this dining experience destroyed the reputation of this respectable restaurant. The waitress whom served us asked us for our ID because the law states that people under the age of 40 are required ID to drink alcohol. We were the only couple who were asked this while young people around us were drinking to their hearts content. We see this as the waitress making an effort to be subtly racist to us because we are of different skin colour.I'm 52, my husband is 51 and my son is 15. Common sense would kick and the waitress would've realised that i'm well over 40 because I have a 15 year old son, unfortunately it didn't. We are very ashamed with this poor service and we want action to be taken place. The legal limit to drink here in honolulu is 21, so if my son is 15 these fools would think that I gave birth to my son when i was 6. We were offered complimentary desert but we declined on principle. read more
