Bought a players card because the 7 days out that they let you set a tee time was not working. With the players card you get an extra 2days ( total of 9 day out) to book a tee time . Well when all the LA city golf courses sell all the best tee times to tournaments and events then the players card still does you no good. LA city golf is a Joke. Never a dull moment in griffith park... Harding is a little shorter than Wilson but it plays pretty tough in some holes. Some long par 3s, a few LONG par 5's and the rest of the day your trying not to hit the coyotes and deer on a bad tee shot. It's a great course that allows you to take risky shots and gain reward for trying! read more

This course is nestled in Griffith Park. The fairways are forgiving and the greens were pretty fast that day. However, it does fill up really quickly, which makes it somewhat not enjoyable. At times I felt rushed just to maintain pace. There were a couple of rude golfers who apparently think they are practicing for the Masters. One group who was playing behind us asked us to speed it up because we were one hole behind. (Which was horse shit) The green fees are decent for a municipal course, but the cart fees were ridiculous. I ended up paying 52 dollars to golf 18 at Harding. Pretty steep for a so-so course. I wouldn't make this my regular course, but I'm inclined to try it again in the future. read more

Great course but always always packed. I've played it many times and every time I finished 18 holes no earlier than 5 hours. Yes, 5 hours. It's crazy! If have a whole day to kill you can come here and play. Challenging holes and worth at least trying once. They don't ranger the course that's why some people take forever to hit the damn ball. I was called a gypsy by a pro shop member" I came in to Wilson and Harding golf course also known as "Griffith Park" I've been coming there for over 10 years my hole family has and if you want to be racially discriminated then go right ahead to the golf course I've never seen such a bad pro shop staff in my life even with the manager they are not trained at all there expect for 2 people in there I don't know there names but if I did I would put them out. I came in at 6:00 only played 3 holes and then had a family emergency at home so when I walked back in the pro shop POLITELY asking if I can get a rain check a replay rate or just back tomorrow the pro shop member gave me a gigantic attitude saying NOPE NOPE NOPE interrupting me for no reason I asked a simple question a no sorry can't do anything for you would have been fine I also gave 20$ but it's not about the money. As I'm walking out I hear him say "Gypsy" which I am Romani he has no right to call me a gypsy that is the most racist thing you can call me or any of my family or my culture. So I walked out I didn't wanna start anything there was also other people out side which were African Americans who also said when they were in the pro shop shopping someone was following them for no reason very racist golf course I have been going back and forth with them for almost 1 week now it's almost impossible to talk to a manger or a super visor even tho they said they would call me back and try and resolve something they didn't I had to call back many many times I've been coming here for years and I cant believe what has happen to this golf course and there pro shop it makes me my friends and family not wanna play here anymore there should be no need for anyone to be a racist and say it basically behind my back as I'm walking out and I know there not gonna do anything for me I did not want to put a review on google but I don't appreciate being racially discriminated and no one else would either but the golf course staff does not want to give me the time of day so that's fine I'll do what I have to do in other ways if they don't wanna talk to me trust me that's perfectly fine with me I hope after this they learn from there mistakes and they can start training there pro shop members a little More professional I've never seen such a unprofessional golf course staff in my life. read more

I've played this course 4 times now, and the reason I keep coming back is because I do enjoy the course itself. The course itself is straight-forward, and has wide-open fairways. On nice days the view is beautiful (except in the stretch in the back nine when the fairways run parallel to the I-5 freeway). But course maintenance is spotty. People don't repair their divots and balls marks, making for bumpy greens. It does get crowded, often requiring 6 hrs to finish a round. The signage directing you to the next hole are unclear, often resulting in groups continuing on to the wrong hole, creating chaos and fights (I've witnessed this). I think this facility's biggest weakness is the staff. I was an LA County employee at one time, and I know the how the culture is. But the people staffing the pro shop and starter office have got to be some of the rudest nastiest guys I've dealt with in all the courses I've played in Southern California. A couple of the younger guys are fairly reasonable, but the older guys are just crusty. Not helpful. I see them yell at and berate customers, just power-tripping. Very unprofessional and bush-league. The staff weakens what otherwise could be a nice county recreational resource. read more

I can't find any motivation to come here anymore. For the price, there are just better golf experiences to be found locally. The fairways are not that great and the greens are OK. The tee boxes are not in good shape. So many duffers knocking divots in the tee box off Par 4 and Par 5 holes and not fixing it. I find myself stooping down to fix an extra ball mark or 2 on every single green because people don't fix their marks. Hey people, maybe try not to destroy your local golf course? Maybe try to put a hand in keeping it decent if you play there? Also, I usually play golf every Monday. I am off work Sunday and Monday so common sense would dictate to come on Monday morning. At 10 AM on a Monday morning, the place is already getting overrun with Asians. I don't know what it is with this course. I'm just one guy walking, and I got behind 2 asian men - together one in a cart and one walking - who kept hitting 2 balls a piece off every tee. I'm walking up to the tee box and waiting on them hitting 2 balls a piece. They don't offer to let me through, and there are 2 more slow Asians in front of them in carts, holding everything up. These guys don't even acknowledge that I'm there. After they hit their 2 balls a piece on the tee, they just walk right on by because they want to pretend I don't exist. I said 'Hello' to one guy as he walked past and he just briefly looked up at me. Who do these people think they are? They don't give a crap about anything or any sort of etiquette at all. Everyone on this course is basically "Screw you I'm going to take as long as I want, hit as many balls as I want." This couse on the weekend would be impossible. I'd be so pissed I'd just as soon walk into traffic by the 10th hole. I would probably only come back here at 7 or 8 AM on my Monday off, and since I like to sleep a little later than that, chances are I won't be back. read more

Came here a few times for the driving range. On a weekday this place is still pretty packed with lots of golfers and people at the range. I'm only a beginner but there were some friendly people that offered me great advice and helped me fix my swing. There are Monday and Friday range ball specials. 3 lrg baskets for only $21 when normally, a large is $10 and a sm/med is $6. This is my go-to driving range and there are a variety of golfers here, from beginner to advance. read more

I have been wanting to learn how to play golf or at least give it a shot to see if I was any good at it. All f my friends play golf and always invite me to join them but, I always have to decline the invitation. So, I finally decided to give it a try, not too long ago i purchased a beginners set from CL and came to Harding Range and decided to hit a few balls, and boy did i suck! Rather then looking even more foolish i decided to sign up for a class which are awesome! For $129 dollars you get 5 lessons for an hour and a half with a pro and he will teach you the basics, and at the end of the class he takes you to 3 Par golf course (Los Feliz). So i have been practicing here for a few weeks and i have to admit it, i love this game its relaxing and soothing. So, if you are looking to give golf a try, do it. read more

I played there after playing other courses for about 2 years. I found it to be expensive for what you get. For my $46 with cart I got no gps, no cool box, no ball washer on the cart! Apart from that, I was charged $2 for 2 cups of ice, that in itself is a rip-off, so bring your own ice or cool box! read more

OMG! Where do I begin? The only great thing about this course is driving through Griffith Park, but it is so abandoned! Why? It is the most horrific Golf Course that I have ever seen. The prestige of Golf, is non applicable here the Golf Shop I must say it has a great "service". Nothing appealing about such. The biggest flaw of this place by the way, is the "COFFEE SHOP". I tried reaching out to the owner of such, who apparently rents the location and offers us players, lack of appeal. How can people even continue offering food with "torn" seats, a horrible smell of bleach instead of coffee or food. I sat down for 20 minutes, waiting for a menu, for a hello, anything! Then the woman serving was offended when I finally asked for a menu. I brought three additional people to play, and I wanted to wait for them inside here, and offer them breakfast before the game I left, it was so humiliating, so rude. Think that you enter into a different country here, honesty guys! Nobody cared to remember that this is a business, that we the people deserve a good service, respect, and that this place could be a goldmine! I beg for the owners, the investors if this place, to go over etiquette with everyone at this restaurant for instance as mentioned above. The lady laughers at me when I seemed surprised for her sarcastic ways back to me in front of others eating. She even suggested that I could go and call the owner to complain if that is what would make me feel better over her sarcasm and lack of service. I did, but no call back from him. It is no wonder, why his business is only good for his finances I bet, and he does not care over anything or anyone else. The server knows that nothing will ever happen to her or them in general...pretty sad, disgusting actually. After the game I took my customers to a private place called Home Restaurant, and spent over $200. Why lose the opportunity to making more money, but good money, after doing your jobs right, after doing the "right thing", and that is to be nice to everyone? Overall, this is sad...please beautify this place, share the rules with all players, even the regulars here feel entitled to rush your game, stand behind you and even ask to pass. Two sets of players did that to us, and not because we were slow, that is their Golf Course, they feel anyone that is not share their background, that may look different, should not come and play here. Course is fine if you're in a jam and want to play somewhere in LA, but be warned, this is a subpar (no pun) course that is SO expensive for the quality of golf they provide. The greens aren't great, the fairways are fine but patches of the course aren't that well maintained. The tee times are STACKED on top of one another so you WILL ABSOLUTELY be waiting and waiting and waiting. Take the time, go to a different course a little outside of LA and play a better round. Love Harding. Although Wilson is designated the "premium" course Harding has more character, more challenge around the greens and tighter fairways. Thankfully these courses DO NOT ALLOW FIVESOMES. The greens are usually in good condition even for a course where virtually nobody repairs ballmarks. The fairways are variable, sometimes closely-mown kikuyu like hitting off a mat, sometimes a giant divot or bare dirt. A few holes have enough topography that you may have some uphill, downhill or sideways lies, but it's mostly level and walkable. The bunkers are in good shape, river-type sand. Usually see assorted wildlife, hawks, coyotes and deer in the afternoon. Plus you'll hear a few peacock squawks and other sounds when you get near the zoo. The clubhouse has some great french fries and the food is pretty good. The employees have been there forever, most are nice to everyone, and a few are nicer to the regulars. The green fees are reasonable for the quality, and nonresident seniors (60 yrs) qualify for good discounts, even for summer weekend times. Even though it seems most of the golfers are Korean, the pace of play is pretty good after the first few holes. And the midway snack shop has Korean style sushi. The placement of ball-washers and benches is discriminatory, NEVER at the ladies tees. The range is mats only, sells warmup buckets at $3, but bring one-dollar bills. There are no tokens for that particular machine. The chipping area is small, with a practice bunker, but gets crowded. Two large putting greens. read more

I played Harding last Monday, April 21st. It is an old school design, very walkable, and as a senior with the LA city card, the price was only about $20. The tee boxes are in C+ to B+ condition as some of the boxes need to be a bit more level. The fairways were in B condition, generally good lies with a few bare spots. The bunkers are in B condition with nice sand and the greens are in B+ condition, rolling very true at a stemp speed of between 8 and 10 I guess. And, there are quite a few deer on the course, along with a coyote and Canadian geese. These courses are my home courses but generally, I have had very good experiences on them, and for muni layouts(George Thomas designed Wilson, he also did Riviera and LA Country Club), having very mature redwoods and oak trees is a wonderful experience. The round on Monday was unfortunately almost 5 hours. read more
