I came here March 21st. The staff were nice, but the food is not great. I mean it is expected as the restaurant is very much inland compared to other places in SD where sushi restaurants are along the coast line. Without a doubt the staff were confusing telling us we can sit outside and have the heaters come on when it gets cold, but 45 minutes later we were told we would not be able to use the heaters because of a recent law that passed. I can honor that, no complaints there just wish we knew sooner because we had to sit at the bar by that time. If it matters, I was getting sushi with a friend for my birthday, it was low key and I have to say the sushi did not taste authentic for the pricing as well. I remember it being bland and not well balanced in flavor. I usually eat my left overs, but I just let my friend take it to her brother instead. First, this place has terrible ambiance. There to eat fish, not be packed in like one. Seating is incredibly small and cramped. BUT! I was told that they had great sushi so I called in advance to make reservations, on my birthday, to ensure we got a booth. We were promised a booth, but when we arrived told that we had to sit at a table in the middle with seating for children. My husband is 6'3 and not suitable for a table so small. They made no attempt to switch us and cared none about our business or my birthday. The sushi rice when i picked it up was pretty dry, and it didnt stick well to itself. Im not sure if its because of how long i took to pick up the order (round trip 30 min). Really great experience across the board. My partner and I just moved to the area and decided to do a last minute late dinner to celebrate my birthday. We were running a couple minutes behind so I called to let them know, and the hostess I spoke to was so sweet and even told us to drive safe. Upon arriving, everyone was equally kind and attentive. Our server, Savannah, was great and checked in with us many times through service to make sure we were doing well. We ordered a bunch of food and everything was top tier. Sushi was super fresh and very yummy. It took a little longer than usual to receive our order as they were short staffed, but the manager, who was also extremely kind, came and spoke to us herself to let us know the situation. We went for dinner yesterday for the first time at this restaurant. We have been to the other locations. It was early enough so we were surprised it was so busy. We waited for about 10 minutes for a table and when the woman finally came to seat us she handed us our menus while in the same spot we were waiting and then pointed to the table that was available and told us we can sit there. She did not walk us to our table. I was very surprised. Multiple people came in after us and they were all walked to their table. We really should have left but I wanted to try this restaurant. Came in last night for my granddaughter's birthday. We had amazing service from Savannah. Everything was delicious, my favorite was the salmon filet. Poway is lucky to have the new and infamous Harney Sushi close to home (They also have a super popular location in Old Town, San Diego). They have daily happy hour, even on the weekends. As a group of four, we shared the Flaming Lip Roll, the Crunch Roll, Baked Dynamite Roll, Miso Harney Roll, and the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Roll. All were delectable and highly recommended. So, I knew the one from Old Town and was excited for a Poway location. I ordered 6 fancy, fun, assorted rolls, and bbq pork yakitori, for takeout for a group. Everything was beautifully packed up, with chopsticks and napkins, wasabi and ginger. They were so kind too, to let me know it would be done early. The rolls were well prepared, very fresh, but the sauces were not to my taste. Each one seemed sweeter than the last one. The bbq pork in the yakitori was unexpected, more like southern US style pulled pork, and also pretty sweet. I've been a Yelp Elite member for years, and I hate leaving a negative review, but I really feel it necessary. First off, the service was very, very poor. It took a very long time for our 3 rolls to all come out, and in that period of time, the waitress, Zoey, never once came and apologized, or ever came back to fill my empty water glass! Once the tolls did come back, we immediately sent one back because it was way too spicy and even though the menu said it was spicy, we mentioned to Zoey that we didn't want it spicy, so it may not have been her fault, but if she marks it "not spicy" then please don't make it spicy! So, instead of the baked roll that we sent back, we instead ordered a Crunch Roll, but it took so long that we had to cancel it! One other thing just to mention, as we sat down the table next to us had just been vacated, where only two gentlemen were sitting, not a party of 6/6 and it literally took 45 minutes and 4 trips to the table to have it totally reset! Literally unacceptable service all the way around, and the taste of our rolls, a 2 at best, very bland, when it wasn't spicy! Obviously, we won't return here!! read more

Love this new spot in our town! It's got a great ambience and has become our go-to sushi in Poway. My husband and I love coming here, often bringing our dog and sitting outside on their cute patio with market lights. The food is very high quality and delicious! Our fave is the spicy tuna crispy roll and for dessert the tempura ice cream. Be sure to also try the garlic manchego cheese edamame! Beer is served in ice cold glasses.
