The food was really high quality! We had a very large party that couldn't be accommodated inside so we were Seated on the patio which was really nice with heaters (it was raining out) and made it perfectly comfortable. I had miso, the toro roll and the shrimp and veggies tempura. All of which was really good. The spicy edamame was delicious as well. Great sushi, outside patio has bees so we couldn't finish our food. But over all good food.

Three stars because the food was good and the service was decent...but I could not give a good review to a place where the music is SO LOUD (not to mention it was Bob Marley which should never INDUCE anxiety in people IMO) that you can't hear yourself think. They have a tiny, paper, black and white menu and the inside dining room was so dark (and so loud!) that I ended up pulling the menu up on my phone because I couldn't read it. Eventually it got so bad that we asked to be moved outside because the music was too loud and they just moved us without even an apology....and lo and behold EVERY other patron was sitting outside too! It's like they don't want you to eat inside. Note on the food: They brag about their black rice but really it was like regular sushi rice dyed purple from the few grains of forbidden rice interspersed throughout. Also: I can't have soy sauce (because of gluten) so I always get nigiri or sashimi when we go for sushi because it's safe. I asked the waitress if their chirashi bowl could be made with no soy sauce marinated items and she seemed confused and went to ask the chef. He said he could make it gluten free by just leaving the glutinous items off...but then they put big chunks of tamago on top which is literally baked egg and usually has flour in it...so some education about ingredients might help for future. I don't put my own health on others so I take full responsibility for eating out and taking the risk, but not everyone is like that so for future it might do to be more aware. The fish in all the sushi was very high quality and fresh and the rice was delicious. We just won't ever go back because the ambience of the whole place was very off putting. read more

I just ate here for the first time. I eat a lot of sushi and I am always looking for good sushi. This place was a disappointment for A sushi connoisseur. First, the nigiri portions were very small for the price. Second, the rice they use is a combination of some type of white rice with some black rice mixed in with no noticeable seasoning. A total sushi abomination in my opinion. This place seems to be more focused on gimmicks rather that authentic tasting sushi. I would not eat here again even at half the price. I've been here a few times and I love the Omg Roll and RiceSex in the City Roll. This place is perfect for a casual dinner. There's usually a bit of a wait to be seated, since the indoor dining area is small but the outdoor patio is partially enclosed and is great for seating as well. The music is upbeat and not too loud; I can have a conversation with my friends at the tables. However, I did notice that our server didn't write our order down and forgot to bring some of our food. They don't assign a server to the tables, so you just have to wait for anyone to walk by for assistance. I did not have any real issues with that, just a little more attention to our needs would have been a better experience. Overall I enjoyed my Udon noodle soup and sushi rolls. read more

Our food was good (after the blue fin was returned for being sub par). Did I mention the music? Loud. High energy. Makes me want to eat fast and get away from the music. Plum wine is delicious. One glass of water was filtered and nice and cold. The other glass tasted like tap water. What's up with that? Three stars for plum wine. One star for water. Two stars for mediocre food. It's Sushi Saturday and we picked Harumi Sushi's new Peoria location. I've heard some good things and could wait to check it out. I'm pretty familiar with this parking lot and know how fast it can fill up on a weekend between the yoga studio, coffee, cookie place so my friend and I decided to meet up pretty close to their opening time of 11. I'd recommend going on their website or calling for a reservation of later in the day/evening. We we greeted very quickly and told we could pick our own seat. The inside has quite a bit of seating, but feels very cramped with how many tables are inside, it's a bit dark as well so we opted for their patio which was nice, bright and had heat lamps to help with the cool breeze. Our drink orders were taken and a paper menu left to mark what we wanted. It was hard to decide, but it was made a bit easier with the option of a mini roll combo of three so we could try multiple on a smaller scale; we chose an Arizona, Dynamite and Rainbow Roll. We also were told the OMG Roll was amazing so we got that as well as some gyoza. Our Gyoza came out quick and was fried perfectly. Soy sauce and everything was already at the table so that was nice. The rolls came out shortly after and we're presented very well. Our server as well as other employees were so welcoming and friendly. Our drinks were never empty. I wish I'd gotten a video of the OMG Roll presentation . It came out in tin foil and a fire lit on the plate while it was run back and forth over the roll giving it a nice Smokey flavor, it was so so good! Honestly my favorite out of them all, but each one has great flavor and tasted super fresh. The dynamite roll was spicy but not over the top. Prices were great as well. My husband and I stopped in for a date night last night. I really liked that they participate in the Yelp waitlist so of course we used it and were able to be seated right away. We also got there a little before 5pm so that probably helped. The servers were great and they offer a great variety of sushi, drinks and appetizers. We were in the mood for sushi so we opted to get the 5 nigiri & crazy roll, a California roll and spicy salmon roll. We shared it all and it was amazing. Probably the best sushi we have had so far in Arizona. (We are a little biased since we use to live in Japan and have eaten some exceptional sushi before.) I really loved the purple sushi rice which has a great story and history behind it. I think one of the best things for my husband was the fact they offered Orion beer which is brewed and bottled in Okinawa, Japan and is amazing and hard to find locally. (We have looked.) The food came out as soon as it was ready which was nice and allowed us to start eating right away. The service was on point and the place looked like it was starting to pickup service when we were leaving. They offer inside and outside seating which is nice. They also have a bar area where you can watch the sushi chefs work. We will definitely be back. read more

I saw the ads on Facebook and decided to go. I specifically tried the omakase and was very disappointed. I tried the chirashi bowl and it was good. I expected more on the omakase. Usually the omakase menu demonstrates how good the chef is and the high quality of seafood of the restaurant so they bring out the best of the best. But in the omakase there was 8 pcs of nigiri and all with soy sauce and lot of rice. This shouldn't be!! Even though the mixed rice was delicious, I didn't go there to eat lots of rice in every bite but quality seafood. The sweet shrimp price was reasonable. Compared to another local Japanese restaurant that charged $20 for the same 2 small pcs of shrimp. We got there early so there was no waiting. The omakase starts at 5pm dinner time and we arrived at 4:50. We waited until almost 5:40 to get the omakase platter. That was really unacceptable. Personally I think the restaurant is a bit too dark. It's a small place with not so many tables but too many servers. 3 different servers came to ask if I wanted to order anything while I was waiting for omakase. We had the miso soup which was quite good. So if I go again, I'll definitely get the chirashi bowl and miso soup again. read more
