Bar

Busy and bustling! Charming restaurant with exceptional service. The food was excellent. Great cocktails at the bar. Will definitely return!

Alright....stop what you are doing and drive to Ashland, Oregon. Don't stop at the hotel, gas station or the hospital. Drive straight to Harvey's Place!!! Park your car in the middle of the street and run to a table. Have them bring you a quart of their "house sauce!". Put that delicious "sent from God" sauce on everything they put on your table...bread, salad, tater tots, but please please put it on the pork chop!!! The chop is wonderful!!! It is the most tender chop I have ever eaten in my life. And look I am from Eastern North Carolina where we eat the pig from the rooter to the tooter! With the heavenly house sauce on it...DAMN DAT GOOD!!!! I will be moving from North Carolina to Southern Oregon to eat this sauce on a daily bases. Oh yeah...the staff are beautiful people and the decor is a step up from the White House....but right now go get that sauce!!!!

We were looking for a place to have some cocktails and appetizers before our show and Harvey's looked really good. Glad this was our choice because everything was very good. We were seated very promptly for a Friday night and service was wonderful. We started with some really well made cocktails and then ordered the shrimp polenta, caprese, and bowls of clam chowder and tomato soup. Caprese had cherry tomatoes substituted for the heirlooms, which was a little disappointing but it was still good and I thought it very nice that our server informed us ahead of time instead of just bringing. I understand about availability so it was fine-but I want to return and try with the heirlooms as I bet it's great! Very nice overall experience.

Filet Mignon special

Took this picture a little late, but OUTSTANDING filet mignon special tonight. We always stop into Harvey's Place for seafood or meat, but tonight the filet was superb. Try the side salad with blue cheese crumbles and their dressing (which is a reduced balsamic vinegar). Wonderful! Staff is consistently fantastic. We highly recommend this place

Chicken pot pie

I'm surprised this place doesn't have above 4 stars on Yelp. Googles rating is above 4.5 We got the chicken pot pie togo. It was pretty good - very nice flaky crust, great flavor. It even came with mashed potatoes and collared greens on the side! My boyfriend ate the collared greens and said they were not good, so don't hold out for those, but the pot pie on its own is lovely anyways. Also friendly service. $14 for the pot pie.

There is not one thing I would change about this restaurant. Making the reservation on their…read morewebsite site was easy. We showed up at 5 and were greeted by the same fabulous woman as last time. You just know that someone that kind and welcoming would not own a place she wasn't rightfully proud of. She sets the tone and all the employees carry it through the entire meal. We chose to try the patio tonight and it was cozy yet open, darker with a couple of fire lights around the room. Intimate. Some of the tables are separated by live plants in planter boxes. We loved it. We started with the beets (with shaved fennel pieces and a citrus vinaigrette with a tahini yogurt sauce on the bottom) and burrata (with grilled pieces of bread and sugar snap peas and capers) appetizers - both were delicious. Randy wanted to try another of their off menu drinks. We can't remember what this drink is called but it's not on the menu and has some Mai tai mix and orange bitters ... like a mock Mai tai spritzer. Delicious - Randy had two! I got the mushroom bolognese - so good. It's home made (!) bucatini pasta with a mushroom (cremini, oyster and shiitake) and san Marzano tomato sauce with burrata on top. I love mushrooms but Randy does not and he loved this dish. The mushrooms taste meaty. Randy ordered the Carbonara again and it was also delicious. We also got an order of garlic bread this time and wow. We each have half of our dinners left, lucky us. We shared the creme brûlée which came with a lavender short bread cookie. Perfect. Everything was perfect. The place was packed and all employees were calm and efficient and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

TL;DR: the service and menu are inconsistent. Some nights really good, some nights not. Mistakes…read morewere made by multiple aspects of the restaurant and a member of our party who communicated very clearly that she has Celiac was served a dish with bread. I truly want to like this restaurant, but I have had some really mixed experiences. The ambiance is very nice - it can get a little loud in the dining room, but the tables are comfortable, the lighting is appropriate, and the decor is interesting. The wine list is phenomenal and the reason I brought friends on my most recent visit. The menu is really hit and miss. There are some dishes that are excellent (some things even sell out before the evening is over), but unfortunately, not all. The hostess is absolutely wonderful - she is charming and funny and really has a talent for making you feel welcome and appreciated for dining with them. Unfortunately, the service is really hit and miss. On my last visit, the waitress really didn't seem like she had time for us. She didn't take the time to explain in much detail about menu items or the wine list. She didn't participate in any banter with us or really make us feel welcome. She seemed rushed, which has not been my experience with service here in the past. My biggest concern, though, is about the efforts of the staff and kitchen to keep items allergen-free. The restaurant advertises itself as a place that is Celiac knowledgeable and friendly. We made it clear in our reservation and to the waitress when we sat down at the table that one member of our party had Celiac and needed to be strictly gluten free. All seemed well and we ordered two appetizers marked as gluten free on the menu. One of those appetizers was served with bread. After the food had been delivered, the waitress must have noticed the issue and offered to have the kitchen remake the dish. We agreed (she left the original plate on the table and in the end we were only charged for one, so all good). The re-made dish was brought out, with bread on the side. There should not have been bread at all, it was very confusing. All in all I would return one more time and hope to have a different experience, but if that experience was the same as my recent one, I likely would not return.

I've been visiting this spot since I first moved to Ashland in 2022, but I'm disappointed to say…read moreI've noticed a steady decline in meat quality over that time. Speaking, the brisket in the Banh Mi was unfortunately tough and lacked the tenderness you'd expect from a properly smoked or braised cut. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. I'd love to see a return to the quality I experienced a few years ago. All and all, despite the brisket. The service was kind and friendly.
