My family came into town and ate here twice before telling me about it and we went for their 3rd time and my first. I did not get a photo of the potato balls but they are also amazing! I will frequent this restaurant. It is authentic Cuban food and the hospitality as well as the music was good. You wait about 15-20 minutes for food but it is well worth the wait. My family made a request that we go back when the eye come back in October! So we will see you again! Parking is always an issue in down town areas. Havana Kitchen.. What an amazing little place. We're in Old Town Temecula..craving cuban and here we are. Ordered online, hoping to save time..we get a call saying the kitchen was closed for a half hour which I honestly think ALL busy businesses should do for their kitchen.. We had NO problem with it and she said it would be done within 15 minutes after the 30 minutes of waiting. We got to the restaurant, so peaceful and beautiful inside and they had our order ready in no time. My only bugaboo..was that we didn't get our cilantro sauce..just a few of the MOJO. Which of course was fabulous, I could almost drink it. We ended up getting 2 Cubano sandwiches with extra meat, a ground beef empanada and my boy had the kids meal with the beef empanada, rice and beans and an amazing plantain. Havana Kitchen is a tried-and-true Temecula restaurant. It's been around for a while and my family and friends have been here more times than I can count. The interior looks and feels like a cafe, though the prices are typical of restaurants in Old Town (and not cafes). The employees have always been friendly during my short interactions with them, but know that this isn't a table service restaurant. Although they have many good dishes and that food is quite flavorful, they also offer some nontraditional dishes that miss the mark for me (chino chicken curry?). Whenever I think of the best Cuban food I've had, I can recall the exact taste of the black beans and the texture of them in combination with the rice, and I must admit that I feel let down when I have those here. It's a feeling of comfort for me that just isn't met. Still, this is a necessary restaurant for a place like Temecula, which is slowly discovering that there is more to offer than pizza and burgers. Most of the entrees I've tried here have been well-seasoned and -braised, and that's likely what most people look for in a good Cuban restaurant. I just personally look forward to the rice and beans of Cuban food and I really wished their black beans were more flavorful. read more

We were there before the doors were open and were hoping for a Guava Pastry. They didn't have any. We did order the empanadas (3) the ground beef is super yummy and the Oscar was pretty good. We also got 3 potato balls. Good, but small. I would recommend. Red sauce they came with was yummy. Lastly we got the sweet plantains - good. I got two tarts to go and ate after dinner. The apple tart and the dulce de leche pastry which the hostess recommended. The pastries were way over-priced and honestly I wouldn't buy again. I think they were in the case for a few days as they didn't put anything in the case when they opened. Customer Service was good. My job has me spending a lot of time in Temecula lately. I am happy to have found this gem of a restaurant. The Cubano sandwiches and the empanadas are wonderful, but my favorite item here is the Cortadito. It is the perfect end to a great meal. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. We ventured to the farmer's market today and this restaurant is just a block away. They open at 9am for breakfast, and have a full menu at 11am. At the cash register, they have a sign that they are looking to hire for several positions. I am keeping this in mind with my review, because we did have some service issues. Also, being my first time, I've made some mental notes of what to order for next time. My hubby had empanadas and eggs. He thought it was just okay. He didn't try the garlicky sauce they gave him until the end, but that sauce was really good! I had the egg bowl, which had rice, black beans, eggs, cheese, grilled onions and I chose pork. It was very good, but I found how to make it better. My hubby didn't finish all of his black beans, so I added those to my dish to increase the bean to rice ratio (next time I would just as for an extra side of black beans). I also poured the garlic sauce on the pork which took it next level. So next time I will be sure to ask for it. I'd like to try the regular menu and also the picadillo. Til next time! read more

We have been here many times prior to todays experience and have always received good service. This review specifically addresses the service and not the food. We've previously waited 10-20 minutes before for our food was expedited and we didn't mind because the food was always on point. Unfortunately today, we waited 40 minutes before we spoke to a server to ask where our food was since a party who ordered after us got their food. The girl we ordered from had no idea where or why our food wasn't out yet. She checked with the back of the house to see what happened and never came back to update us. She just walked around us without making eye contact. At this point my husband asked to speak to a manager- she said there wasn't one on site. We then spoke to the shift leader Mackenzie who apologized and said that their systems weren't working? When we asked about the food, she told us it would be ANOTHER 15 minutes. She did refund us what we paid. We understand that the labor pool is very shallow for good workers and unfortunately for service industries like this, we have to do our best with what we get. read more

The beef empanada was very well seasoned and so where the rice and beans. Cons: the cashier said they discontinued the croquetas and the guava and cheese pastries are not done until the afternoon. These are both Cuban breakfast signatures items, this blew my mind. The Cafe con Leche needs major work, not tasteful. Finally, since they only had Dulce leche and cheese pastries ($4.30, pricey), I decided to give it a try. Wow, what a regret, barely anything inside this pastry, super hollow, lacking so much taste. It's hard to find any good Cuban place around now days outside Miami. Last thing I will say, if you are going to run a CUBAN place, make sure your employees have the Caribbean spark and at least speak Spanish for crying out loud.
