    Blood in the Water

This was my first visit to Heaton's, suggested by friends to meet for lunch. I've been visiting Vero Beach for many years and can't believe I've been missing out on this spot!! It's perfectly situated on the beach, and next to the Kimpton pool. Our server, Jaylana, was such a delight! She suggested excellent drinks - my favorite was Blood in the Water! As well as Tuna Nachos, delicious!! Definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try!

Our new favorite lunch spot in Vero Beach, right on the ocean. The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly, and the lunch menu has a great variety of options. They offer everything from hummus to edamame, and we especially love the ahi tuna nachos and the fish tacos. There's so much to choose from that this place is definitely going on our repeat list.

Great place to eat at the Kimpton Vero Beach! The views are amazing of the ocean, wonderful food and great fantastic service by Shannon! Highly recommend this place !!!

All above for this establishment! You can't beat the setting and views. Right on the ocean! Wonderful staff and culinary crew! Shannon, our server, very kind and sweet, and very attentive and informative. Delicious food! Try everything especially the Calamari and Key Lime Pie! A decadent triumph!

Lovely final evening of our vacation was spent here at Heaton's! We had absolutely gorgeous ocean views, which is why we decided to try it out. I got their newest cocktail the Flying Carpet and the Grilled Octopus. The cocktail was unique and refreshing, would be perfect for a hot day. The Octopus was flavorful and had a variety of components that made the dish extremely enjoyable, it was my first time having Octopus and it's safe to say I would have it again after this! My only complaint is that if you are not a guest at the hotel it is difficult to get to the restaurant and you have to walk across their pool deck. Might just be worth it for the views and food though!

Bartenders at Heatons make the most delicious Margaritas! The music was lovely and not too loud which is such a refreshing change for Vero Beach!

beautiful view , terrible service. the food we ordered to go back to our room looked like it was thrown into the box with no care at all. no utensils or napkins. we were told the food would be delivered to us as we were sitting by the pool and after 25 minutes went back to the bar to find it sitting on the counter . gave this place 3 tries and will not be back. too bad for the Kimpton as the hotel and pool are beautiful

    Turkey sandwich with Caesar salad

Well, the view here is really fantastic & The food was very good. It is very casual and comfortable to hang out at. ( although the seating are a little worn I think anyplace on the beach gets that way quickly but at a fancy hotel u would expect more luxury)...but what was really excellent was the service and the way they handled a situation. My cousin ordered a burger and she was really looking forward to it because she barely eats burgers and this is a highly recommended place and she figured for 25$ it's gonna be really good. Although it said Smashburger on the menu, she didn't really understand what that was as it wasn't really described ...especially since she requested an almost raw very very rare...mooing....burger....which we who dine out know can not be obtained via smash burger because they are essentially so thin and well done they can't be that rare..... They just never mentioned that when she ordered so when it arrived she was very disappointed so when we told the manager, he immediately got her whatever she wanted and took it all off the bill with loads of apologies....so that was lovely....but the burger wasn't. She had a salad with a piece of salmon and it was ok. My husband had an excellent turkey bacon club sandwich on excellent whole grain bread, he felt it was a winner. I had truffle fries as a side and they were very thin, crispy hot and delicious...and the Grilled Octopus appetizer/ small plate as my main which was Fantastic....so were the Pina Coladas...we willbe back and we will also try cobalt which they said emphasizes steak.

View from my seat. Chairs on the turf are not covered, but the rest of the tables are covered and have fans.

Easy spot to grab food or a drink from the Kimpton resort. Sits right at the pool area. We checked in and got lunch. We chose a Caesar salad and a turkey club. The salad was okay. Definitely not bad, but not impressive. Simple things like the greens having similar cuts - some pieces were massive and some were smaller and easier to eat. It was very hot out, and we were sitting outside, but in a covered and fanned area. The salad was very warm/wilty when it arrived. The turkey club was a little embarrassing. I don't even know how they put the turkey on the sandwich, but there was a random gap in meat when you looked at the cross cut. There was one piece of lettuce on the sandwich - literally the size of domino. Why bother? The bacon was good and tasty. The bread was over toasted and very dry / the entire sandwich was a bit dry and kind of difficult to eat for that reason. Neither item was bad, but neither item was good. Husband and I were sharing the sandwich and salad, and we ended up putting the salad onto the sandwich to help make it easier to eat. The view: fantastic. A beautiful view of the ocean from the entire place. The servers were also great, from our arrival through our entire meal. Hostess, busser, server... all were on top of things.

    The linguine with clams

The service is great, drinks good, food not. My husband ordered the Short Rib Arepa. The cheese in the arepa was rubbery and bland. So not good since there was an extreme amount for an arepa. They put some chili oil over it, an EXCESSIVE amount. It tasted funny. I ordered Linguine with clams. Let me start by saying, my husband who does not cook, made this dish for me on Valentine's Day following a recipe sent by our daughter. Fantastic! This is my favorite meal when I'm out to eat and it's on the menu. This was horrible here. They rendered lardon. Which sounds like a good idea, if you drain the fat and allow for a nicely prepared sauce. The noodle served (not linguine like I have ever had) more a slender egg noodle on this plate was a poor choice. If you decide to visit here. I suggest sticking to the drink menu.

    Chicken Wings, calamari, Tuna Nachos

Came in on a gloomy Sunday afternoon. We sat outside near the heaters. The view was still nice even though it was quite cloudy. Our table of four split some appetizers as a snack in between meals. The tuna nachos were by far the best, then the chicken wings, and in last place were the fried calamari. The fried calamari were unfortunately battered too thickly that you couldn't really taste the calamari- in some pieces it was just the batter. Service was fine and the pricing for the size of food was a bit much... but in some sense, you're paying for the ambience too. Would maybe come back on a sunnier day for drinks!

The fire pit way off to the side is nice, but I much prefer those at Cobalt, both on Vero Beach Hotel property. The food is more casual here than Cobalt, and it's not bad. I'm not a big fan of live music while I'm trying to have a conversation and eat dinner, especially when the musician is terrible. And he was. Awful.

Amazing view. Food and service. Thank you

It's such a beautiful spot, especially during the holidays when they really go all out with the decorations. The ambiance is hard to beat, and the view alone makes it worth the visit. The food is consistently delicious and well-prepared, although it is definitely on the pricier side. It feels more like a place for a special night out than an everyday dinner. On our most recent visit, the only downside (besides the prices) was that there was a very long wait time to get our food. Still, the setting and overall experience was positive so I wouldn't be against another visit.

I ate too much of the bread! For my meal, I started with the steak tartare and it was excellent, high quality beef. I then moved onto the chargrilled oysters which were a 1000/10! Amazing flavor... the blend of the butter and 3 cheeses was perfect! I then had the best pork chop I've ever eaten in my life. They brine it for 24 hours in a sweet tea mixture... I was thinking that would taste weird or sweet but it was neither. The chop was simply the most divine, juicy and flavorful pork chop I have ever consumed. Words can't express the deliciousness! It was 10000000/10. The chop was paired with the best grits I've ever had. I take grits seriously as a southern woman and those were magnificent. Restaurant was very clean. Apparently famous for French dip - I tried it and nothing special but ok and hit the spot. My wife had blackened Salmon which was large and she could not stop overeating it. They are also renown for fresh fish so not surprisingly the Salmon was first class. Separately there is a bar that was full but strangely they had no fraught beer available in the restaurant. The lounge, located in a separate room, was standing room only. The average age of the crowd was in their mid-60s or 70s, which is likely more typical of Vero Beach than Bobby's in general. We ordered a few things to try including a fried grouper sandwich, a cheeseburger and an order of ribs off the appetizer menu. The grouper was lacking in flavor, but was hot and fresh. The ribs were "fall off the bone" and actually decent. The burger was probably the best of the 3, it wasn't bad at all. Service was fast and she was pleasant. We didn't have to ask twice for anything. One thing I will note, the men's room was dirty, similar to a dive bar's bathroom. Maybe because the place is old and in need of an update but it made me wonder if other parts of the establishment were unclean.

The sides came in tiny round bowls and weren't even filled halfway. The peas were probably 1/4 cup. The green beans were tasty. The mashed potatoes were not buttered or salted very bland, also very hard to mess up mashed potatoes in my opinion as a cook. Even the summer cocktail list sounded amazing on the menu but was truly underwhelming and didn't impress once served. The cocktails are $17 I ordered the Passionfruit Hugo Spritz and it didn't come with any passion fruit puree just tasted of elderflower and prosecco, I needed to ask for some extra. *INITIAL REVIEW*…read more Today, my family and I celebrated Mother's Day given the fact one of my sisters and I would be too busy to celebrate it on the actual day. Ergo, we made a trip down to Vero Beach and had fun at both McKee Botanical Gardens and the Vero Beach Museum of Art (VBMA), both which got stellar reviews by me in the past. In between both locales, we were hungry and needed to eat someplace local. I had some suggestions, but my mom was in the mood for seafood. As a suggestion from reviews, The Crab Stop of Vero Beach was ultimately decided upon. I have to say, I am happy this restaurant was suggested because it is very good. Even though an address is provided, The Crab Spot of Vero Beach (which I will shorthand simply to Crab Spot for the remainder of this review) is located on the southside of the entryway into Royal Palm Place, one of the many extensions leading out into the water near US-1, but this one is known for the Royal Palm Park at the end. Initial display, decor, and ambiance has the stereotypical local dive bar look with elements showcasing they specialize in seafood, and the little bits of rustic flaws adds a bit of character for what they are. I would not expect such a look for a high-end restaurant, but this works for a local place on the river. The chairs squeeked, the table wobbled a bit in which the waitress fixed with some coasters, and the plates were chipped. No problem at all. There was even outdoor seating in the back bar-style which gives you a nice view of the canal that leads to the river. It was high sun, so we opted for the air conditioning. Now we move on to the food. I have to say that the majority of our food was really good, and when you adjusted to what you are eating, it was top-notch. Key word, however, is the "majority." The good: the hush puppies basket as you get 10 hush puppies that are lightly-seasoned with 1000 island sauce. If you eat one, it is probable you might think it is light on seasoning. However, they are small and finishing all 10 won't be a problem. The flavor builds with each hush puppy, which was smartly done compared to what most seafood places do: give you like two to five hush puppies of large size and high flavoring. The wings, however, used a hot sauce that was mostly vinegar. This ruined the wings for me, and if my stepdad ordered 20, he'd be eating the majority of them. Everything else was top-notch and delicious. Altogether, my family ordered the Fish and Chips, Mahi Sandwich, Fried Catfish Sandwich, Sea Scallop Snack Pack, and the Crab Cake Dinner. Details for each dish in the pictures. On a sidenote, the restroom was okay as in clean and stocked, but not the best-looking restroom I seen. Maybe the "character" could have not be extended to the restroom. Ultimately, I am giving Crab Stop four out of five stars. I do enjoy a good "mom n' pop" place as I prefer to support local and small, but since this is the only time I went, I can't justify a five-star rating until they prove to be consistent. I will be back as there is another park just south of this business that has geocaches that need to be found AND I may also try to hide a traditional letterbox here. But take note for a local seafood stop, this place is good to go.
