If you see the Hefty Gyros' fire engine red food truck about town, check them out. They serve up hefty hefty hefty portions of Mediterranean food. The menu consist of gyros, falafel, chicken, pita, hummus, salads, and fries. Did I mention the portion sizes are hefty?! They literally pile on the food. I ordered a chicken plate. Whoa. In one container they literally piled it on... rice, chicken, salad, fries, and pita with hummus spread already on it. Plus they are heavy handed with the white sauce. Sure the portions were huge. But my food was assembled like a Dagwood sandwich minus the bread, in layers. Saucy dressed layers. Not how I like to eat a non sandwich meal. But great for a gyro. The flavors were terrific though. Moist grilled chicken slices. Fries were hot n crispy for a hot minute, same with the cool crisp salad before the blend of layers of taste crept in which didn't take long. My salad got lost in the layers and I couldn't distinguish that stand alone flavor.

Flavor bomb! The staff were efficient and effective handling orders and food prep. The food truck dynamic is standard across most. The lack of prices on the side was a bit frustrating, I prefer to decide on my food based on the prices. We ordered a gyro which came chock full of ingredients. I think the unique ingredient is banana peppers! Super good. The meat and sauces were flavorful. $14 for one of these seems a bit steep to me, but for a quick and easy lunch, I'd recommend it.

Quick and kind service, definitely worth the line. Gyro Pita - 9/10 Very nicely seasoned, salty and acidic combo works well. Good amount of food, even if messy. Peppercinis add a nice amount of heat.

Hefty Gyro is my gyro! A gyro pita and a side of falafel at Food Truck Friday in Idlewild Park in Reno from a Sacramento food truck. The pita is warm and holds together the lamb meat, tzatziki sauce and fresh vegetables just fine. It was a perfect pita wrap. The falafel was not made into patties it was more freeform chunks. Some were very crispy and others near to doughy. The taste was ok but texture off. A small cup of sauce would have helped. I enjoyed the meal but the falafel has to be in patties that cook evenly. The pita is worth another visit so stop by and try it or one of the other wonderful looking items on the menu.

Hefty Gyros was one of the food trucks at my work today that comes every Friday and I finally decided to check them out for lunch. I ordered the Chicken on Rice plate which is a HEFTY amount of food - it comes with rice, chicken, a salad, pita bread, hummus and even fries! Everything was nicely seasoned and you definitely get some bang for your buck! So filling! Service was friendly and quick! I can't really comment on the ambiance as it is a food truck, but you can tell their food is fresh and there was a longer line to order than the other food trucks that were around. I love Mediterranean food and I can definitely see myself ordering from them again!

So good! That's all you need to know. Everything on their menu was amazing, but their fries? Those were the main event right there! 10/10. Had the chance to try them at a work event and I honestly wished I lived closer to their pop areas so that I can enjoy it over and over again. The staff was super friendly and had great energy even with the mass amount of people they had coming to their window. I got the fries with a combo meat option and it was so loaded up you had a good bite each time. Can't wait for another opportunity to have their food again.

Every time they come to Travis Air Force Base with a food truck, I go to Hefty Gyros. Their Gyro Pita is fire. There fries are fire. Hummus is fire. Everything is so good and the customer service is great. Plus, the speed at which they make food is unheard of. 5 out of 5 and highly recommend!

Food was good but disappointed with the service. I ordered the meal deal, which states it comes with "your choice of pita, special fries, a drink, and baklava" (see photo). The "special fries" were just seasoned fries, not like the picture they show (see photo), and they didn't give us the baklava. The pita I got was very good at least. My advice though: Make sure you check that you get everything you paid for. Update: The owner was super nice and offered another meal for the confusion the first time. It was great like last time but there was still confusion with what the "meal deal" contained and I did get charged for the baklava. As you can see in the photo, it says it was supposed to be included. Overall, I would say it's good food but be wary of what you're getting for what you're paying. If small details like that aren't an issue for it, go for it! read more

Gave this place a try at the food truck event here I. Roseville. All of their items are around 10 or $11. I went with the chicken over rice and side salad combo plate. My first reaction was that there was sooooo much sauce. But once you mix it with the rice it isn't that bad. Salad compliments the meat really well also. Came with cucumbers and tomato and a light creamy dressing. Over all it was pretty good. I'd try this place again but would probably try the lamb gyro next time . read more

They came back to food truck mania and as it tasted really good we gave it another try! We got there right when it opened and the man inside welcomed us up to the window. We ordered our food and he asked us if there was anything else we wanted. He gave us a water for our daughter and it was ice-cold and perfect for the hot day. Our food got out to us and tasted S*T*E*L*L*A*R the chicken was flavorful and soft but cooked well. The fries were spicy and tangy and seasoned perfectly. The man who helped us was an absolute gentleman and I even saw him bring food and the drinks out to people including an elderly man who needed the help, it was nice to see! If your on the fence which food truck to give a try on Sunday in woodland or sac, go for Hefty, it is by far going to be the most flavorful thing there/ Im glad that this experience was so much better. This was part of the SactoMoFo this evening and it's legit! I usually compare everything I try to Halal Guys, which has stolen my heart since NY. However, I felt like this place gave HG a run for their money because the chicken was not only well marinated, it was incredibly juicy! I went in with no expectations and pleasantly surprised with the quality of their food. Very pleased! I made it a meal by ordering the chicken with rice and added the extra $4 for small fries. The fries comes with sriracha and white sauce. I hope they are here frequently because I'd love to try them out again! read more

Tried this food truck at Foodieland. This was one of the trucks that didn't have a line at all but I had a taste for gyros today and decided on the truck in the corner with no lines. I ordered the Chicken Gyro and got a Hefty fries on the house. Both items were super delicious!! It's a little pricier than your usual gyro but it was definitely worth it. The only downside is that this food truck is from Sacramento area! Which is a little too far of a drive from the east bay for me. read more

They were providing food at a vaccination clinic at the Oroville Hmong community center and I was lucky enough to get a gyro. We stopped in at a kid's vaccine clinic and these guys were out front in their food truck. We got the gyro pita and let me tell you it is amazing. The meat is so tender and flavorful. I love all the stuff they put on it, too. The fries are also really good with the yogurt dill sauce. The staff is very nice. Must get the pitas! I always get the chicken pita and it is delicious! Kinda pricey for just the pita itself but for $9 but it is really tasty. I love the sauce on it and it's full of flavor. It's also a good size as well. Nothing to really complain about. They accept cards here also. read more

They put dry ice inside and then pour water into it, making it look like the elephant is blowing smoke out of its trunk. My daughter was completely mesmerized. Watching her reaction was worth the visit all by itself. What I loved most was that it wasn't just a gimmick. The drink was actually good, and the elephant made such a cute keepsake afterward. It felt like getting both a treat and a souvenir. The café itself had a fun atmosphere, and it was one of those places that felt a little different from your typical coffee or tea stop. Helpful tip: If it's your first visit, order one of the drinks served in the elephant. The presentation alone is worth it, especially if you're visiting with kids. I looked up the origin and it turns out Wushiland is a spin off from the Taiwanese boba chain 50嵐 (if you speak mandarin, it says Wushi Lan). Located on Sutterville in a tiny strip mall with minimal parking right next to the Freeport area where there are plenty of good eats, some of which are my favorite places in Sac to eat at, Wushiland is in an optimal location. Bright, clean, and with a decent amount of seating, you have the option to order from kiosks or up front at the counter. The AC was blowing cold and a nice respite from the El Niño heat. The workers are friendly and drinks are made quickly. Be advised that the drinks are voluminous, especially if you're like me and ask for less ice. Coming from someone who considers Chicha San Chen their favorite Taiwanese tea chain (but alas we don't have it in Sac), the difference in quantity is huge. Obviously if you're looking for a refined style of tea chain, Wushiland doesn't compare, but still the taste of their teas shine through and there is a good variety for everyone's palate. The first time I tried their earl grey tea because I have been craving an earl grey for a while, and that was deliciously smooth. The mini boba were so fun to chew on, and I usually prefer them over the regular size. They provide a ton of boba here as well. The next time I had their yakult green tea and that was very refreshing indeed. Both times my husband went with fruit teas, and had nice remarks to say about both of his drinks. He also tried their new QQubes and their texture was very QQ (I had a sample). We will most certainly return to Wushiland, especially since it's so accessible. Also tried the brown sugar roasted oolong milk tea at 50% sweetness and with coconut jelly. The oolong flavor is nice and strong and the sweetness was perfect. Next time I'll try the early gray milk tea with the new qqube (mochi) topping. I just have to be feeling brave enough for the crowds here first.

I often go to food truck events seeking out new and great food. But sometimes its hard to figure out which ones i should get food from. so how does this truck stand out from the rest? When you first see the food truck, hefty gyros, you are automatically drawn to it. first off, there truck is a bright "fire engine red" color with contrasting bright pictures that are very clear and help you get a sense of fresh mouthwatering food before you have even order. The prices are also in a nice bold font so you can easily get a sense of what you are paying and compare prices before you get up to order. And the prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than many other gyro places i have been to, and cheaper than most other food trucks. When you get up to the truck to order you are immediately greeted by there friendly staff. If you have any questions about the food they are very helpful about explaining things, and helping you choose the best dish for your specific taste. I have actually tried every item on there menu... I love them all. When you receive your order... your once again greeted with a smile... and treated to a freshly made plate of food (or gyro) that is also i great size portion for the cheap price you pay. The sauce they use in the gyros is really great and just adds the right touch of added flavor and spice. I also love the lamb and rice plate. You get a really good portion of lamb to go with your rice and salad. If you like french fries, theres are delicious. thy add a really good seasoning to the fries as well as the same sauce used in the gyros. Was sooo excited to try their food for the first time today but was severely disappointed! I arrived 20 min after they opened at 4pm. By nearly 6pm I was still waiting in line JUST TO ORDER FOOD! They were concentrating mainly on online orders and leaving the long line of people waiting to order on the back burner. It was not fair because a lot of people were waiting in line before a lot of the online orders came in, but those online orders got their food first. The food truck should have either shut down in person orders or online orders. Because it was very clear that they could not handle both. As time went on, the crowd of online orders grew bigger and bigger. Which meant they were taking orders from my line slower and slower. It was literally only ONE order taken from my line every 12-15 min. Seeing that it would take over 2 hours for me to get my food and let alone order, I decided to leave and figure out a plan B dinner for my hungry family. I was excited for the food truck to come to my town because of the convenience. But over 2 hours for food?? I should have just driven to Falafal Guys in Yuba City. To whom it may be of use, Hefty Gyros is the best gyros i've ever had. I have had there food many times but today they finally stopped by my place of work. I tried there gyro pita with side fries at Kaiser Permanente in Elk Grove. I usually am a chicken on rice guy but i wanted to see what the hype was on the gyro. (Side Note there chicken and rice is AMAZING). As upon order the food was served in less than 2 minutes per usual. That is something I love about this truck, staff is super nice and quick. Usually when that happens at other places it comes with the cost of bad quality but the gyro and fries were amazing. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the gyro was at the perfect taste of tenderness. The sauce really was something otherworldly. It truly is a flavor bomb upon the first bite. The young gentlemen who helped me even added a baklava free of charge after recognizing me. All in all Hefty Gyros has always been top notch to my family and friends. Another Homerun Food truck in town: HEFTY GYROS. And Im giving them a solid and strong 4. A little different than traditional gyro where the meat is stacked and pressed on a huge skewer and cooked rotisserie style. HEFTY GYROS serves the same meats but cooked more individually instead of large skewer and thats understandable since you never know how many to expect at different locations. I ordered the biggest platter they had. 3 meats were lamb, chicken and beef. ALL were fantastic. Great taste and perfectly cooked. The tasiki sauce was mildly spicy but just right. The crew was friendly and it was cooked pretty fast. The only reason I rated it 4 Stars is because they didnt have any rice. I dont know if they forgot to bring it but it was early in the evening and Im sure they didnt run out yet. The least they could have done is lower the price a buck or two to make up for no rice. The guy at the window (I don't know his name, but it's always the same nice guy!) will take good care of you. So I get the pita gyro with lamb. The pita is thick and fresh, super delicious. Wow! The first time I ate here, I had falafel. I've tried falafel at other restaurants and it's always dry. But the falafel at Hefty Gyro was crispy and delicious outside and warm and moist inside. A puffy cloud of yumminess! The next time I went, I had a chicken gyro. This was by far the best gyro I have ever had! But the best thing about Hefty Gyro, is the people. I LOVE Hefty Gyros. They started coming to our community a couple times a week, and I'm not ashamed to say I've had them at least once a week for the past month. Tonight I ordered the specialty fries and they forgot the tzatziki sauce and sriracha. When I went back, they were more than happy to add a lot of sauce, but even gave us some baklava. Grabbed a chicken pita & some baklava during Food Truck Thursdays in Antioch and I've got to say that the pita was so FIRE . 10/10 on flavor & spice level. Probably one of the best I've ever had & I look forward to trying more items from the menu, KEEP IT UP!!
