My friend's band, Zenjii, had a live performance there. A power outage befell the establishment (thanks for nothing, Centerpoint!) so the show was switched from inside to the patio. I'll say that the patio is a bit on the gritty side but has a really cool, summertime-in-the-backyard kind of vibe. I was drawn to the numerous street signs and license plates that were strewn throughout. Thankfully, the weather was cooperative enough. I did have a chance to check the interior. While virtually pitch black, I was able to see some pinball machines and a pool table. On a normal day, the place is likely buzzing. If the patio presented itself as a place for tailgates and barbecues then the inside was a badass combination of dive bar, honky tonk, and punk rock club. And because I don't drink alcohol, I settled on a Mexican Coke, which was a decent $3.25. When I took my first sip, I was taken back to the summers of my youth when I went home to the Philippines after the school year. The opening of the bottle left a bit of a weird taste in my mouth so I decided to pour the rest in a complimentary plastic cup. And Coke - no matter what flavor it is - tastes better in a plastic cup, but that's a different story for another day. As for the staff, everyone from Becca to Jeremy is pretty cool. Even those who served me the Coke were down-to-Earth. They didn't ask me for ID. *Laughs* But seriously, Eighteen Ten Ojeman is a great place to pull up to in Spring Branch after you have some legit Korean BBQ, which the area is known for.

The sound system is solid, and you can tell they care about creating an excellent music experience. There's even a small dance floor if you're in the mood to move! They typically push back all the couches and seating in the front to make room for people to stand/dance. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the bartenders are quick and friendly, even when the place gets packed. The decor is classic dive bar--think neon signs, worn-in stools, and a jukebox for when the bands take a break. It's gritty in the best way possible. In addition it is advertised as a 3 course meal and that didn't happen. What was given to you was an appetizer menu with inflated prices and no variety of selection. There was also a cocktail menu. We were also required to be joined by another couple we didn't know, and it kind of ruined my date night. The show itself was ok with a lot of storytelling and short performances of song and dancing. I guess if you are into semi nude women, you may enjoy it. Some of the acrobatics were stunning! We had a 12:30 reservation and we were on time, we didn't get our food until almost 2(we ordered 4 plates of chicken and waffles, that's it). When the food came the chicken was well over cooked and tasted like they cooked it in old grease. The fruit wasn't fresh that they put on the waffles. We attempted to speak to the manager but she initially refused to come to our table in this empty "restaurant/lounge" . Literally no one in any of the other booths and finally the manager came over. We explained to the manager our concerns and she got loud and was rude. We were speaking to her in calm tones but were told we either pay for the food or leave. We opted to leave and only paid for the mimosa tower. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

It is a pop-up style themed bar, which explains why it did not have much in the way of designated signage. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They greeted us upon entry (and for the last open hour of the night they were still very full with limited space left for seating), and made sure that we were well taken care of. They also do an hourly story telling about Saint Julian, the bar's namesake. They close at midnight because they are on a restaurant liquor license. There are a few fun twists and activities within the bar, including a plinko game and a spin-the-wheel to win a prize. Fellow bar-goers would cheer each other on for where the wheel would land. The entire place was decorated with circus paraphernalia. Overall it felt fun and unique. The drinks are all carnival-themed, but the unintended consequence is that everything is very very sweet and/or sour. From the looks of things, the drinks are often adorned with fun extra flare. Definitely the place to go if you want a unique bar experience. Don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like it.

When we finally made it downstairs, this place was a packed house. The music was blaring and people were dressed to the nines. I guess I didn't get the memo that it was "Dressed to Impress" night. As soon as you step in, this place is chaotic and pretty unorganized. This place was definitely short staff on their opening night, shouldn't they know that they will need a full staff to prepare for battle of the oncoming bar hoppers and club goers. Duh!
