This restaurant is inside Marriott at Spectrum. It is valet parking only which stinks. We parked at Courtyard by Marriott and walked over. Silly to only have valet parking. We came here on a wednesday night. I made reservations for 7pm and when they called to confirm, they had 5pm. Umm, no. So we get to the front desk and we stand there waiting for like 3min before anyone even acknowledges us. Finally a waitress saw us and said she would go look for the host. He comes back 2min later. We were 10min early for our reservation and he said all the tables were full so we sat and waited. It's not a large restaurant, and decent seating outside in the pool area but at night, it's too cold. Hence why all the tables inside was full. We get to our seat and our waitress comes and greets us. We came for the restaurant week so here we go. My friend got the roasted kabocha but it wasn't quite what she expected. She expected pieces of kabocha but it was a couple pieces of bread, with a cheese, and a kabocha puree spread with some argula. She said it was interesting. I got the gnochi with short rib which was very good. I wish it was warmer in temperature but great flavor and I really enjoyed the mushrooms in it. We both got the seabass with onions and fennels. WE got 2 pieces of seabass which was thin and not thick like at other places. I thought it was cooked well and I enjoyed the kumquat butter and fennel. I'm not a fan of onions so I wished it came with mixed veggies instead. Dessert we both also got the cinniman rolls which was yummy!! Very flaky and warm and quite good! However our waitress seemed to have disappeared after dessert. We waited awhile for our checks and box the rest of our rolls. Not sure if there was a big party or what happened. We really wanted to like--no love--this place. It's chic, it's new, the food looks great. But the service was atrocious. We waited 20 minutes for a server to even greet us. We weren't served cutlery and weren't asked for drinks. When we finally flagged her down, she looked exhausted by our request. We waited 47 minutes for our appetizer and cancelled our entire meal because our server left us alone. The manager was STELLAR and ensured our patronage was valuable. However, after over an hour of waiting for our food, it was too much, too late. We left the restaurant and cancelled the rest of our meal. For what it's worth, the appetizers were lovely. Cauliflower Mac and cheese was great, sea bass was seasoned well and had a nice crunch but was dry and the sides it came with was cooked onions and garlic.... dthey really expect someone to eat that? That was disappointing, but the desert was the saving grace. Drinks weren't bad, not the best. Considering what their prices are on a normal day I wouldn't recommend it. We were very disappointed in the experience at the Heirloom Farmhouse restaurant. We do understand that the lack of employees at this time may be an issue, but not the only issue. The lemon drop cocktails were not prepared properly and had to be sent back. The service was inattentive and not the quality we would expect in a restaurant in this price range. The menu is very limited. The fish and chicken entrees were unexciting. The vegetable appetizers were quite good and the hamburger was very good. But the entrees did not arrive close to the same time. We also could not order the hamburger cooked medium for some reason and could not get the cutlery need for share dishes. This place is seriously so yummy and has amazing service! You place your drink order- it's out in 3 minutes. Food order- out in like 10 minutes. So I'm a total vegiholic and what drew me to this place was the fact that they have a cauliflower steak. The funny thing is... apparently they're not known for that at all! Meh, here for work and too tired to venture out. Had the burger, which has good flavor but is actually too large for a human mouth to eat. If they cut down the amount of meat in the patty, I'd probably be fine to pay the same amount but actually like it better. The fries would be good, if they were cooked a little longer and thus were crispier. The bar service wasn't very attentive and even forgetful. I even ordered a second drink that was acknowledged, but then never made. She came back later and asked me if I wanted another and I repeated my order, which she finally delivered. SUMMARY: The food was delicious. The service was horrible. Enough to rate it 1 star. I would rate it a zero if I could. I would not go back (For me, that says a lot - I don't typically judge a place by my first experience and usually try and give it another shot when I have a bad experience. I'm not willing to do that for this establishment). There are plenty of other amazing restaurants that have more to offer. I've worked in restaurants in the past, so there's a lot I understand from their point of view, but there are a few things I'm more critical about because I've worked in the restaurant industry. A friend and I dined here midweek for OC Restaurant Week. There are many things I took into consideration when we were here - it's a new restaurant, it's OC restaurant week, their peak dinner time hours, etc... My friend and I ordered not just off the restaurant week menu, but also off the regular menu with drinks. Not that it should matter as we are paying customers, but our bill was a decent amount for two people. The food was excellent. We ordered the Ancient Bread, Cauliflower Mac, Charred Brussels Sprouts, Gnocchi, Grilled Skirt Steak, Brick Roasted Jidori Chicken, Chocolate Cloud, & Brick Oven Cinnamon Bun. The Gnocchi is a must! Soo Flavorful! And the charred brussel sprouts were an interesting concoction that sets your tastebuds into a frenzy. My friend has the jidori chicken and really enjoyed it, until she realized it wasn't fully cooked and she's pregnant! Other than that, no problems with the food. I don't want to sell the food short because of the rest of my bad experience. The food is scrumptious!! We were reccommending multiple dishes to the table next to us! Now onto the real problems - the service. It was just bad. And although we can fall back on it being a new restaurant, inexperienced staff, restaurant week, etc.... there just isn't any excuse that can justify it across the board. The staff wasn't friendly - from the hostess, to the busers, to the food runners, to the servers. There is a particular seat on the patio that is just designed poorly. The outside door swings right into it. I learned this when a staff member literally slammed the door full force into the back of my chair. You can tell he was startled and caught off guard. I was fine the first time, no harm no foul. Until it kept happening from multiple staff members who were also aware the door swings into the back of the chair. At one point the server with knives, forks, and spoons in hand, used the appetizer plate behind me, to catch it from swinging into me. There was just a large clank behind my head. I cringed everytime that door opened during my meal, especially since my back was towards it. If we weren't already settled in to our seats, I would have asked for another table. The restaurant needs to figure this out and come up with a solution or it's just going to cause problems later down the line. After already having it mentioned a number of times "I'm backed up right now" by our server and seeing him fail with the table next to us, and understanding this and not being demanding or high maintenance customers, there's still no reason for flat out rude behavior. I clearly saw he had a lot of tables to cover, and because of this we didn't mind if our glasses were empty, we needed something, etc.. I was with a friend and we were catching up (there were plenty of tables open, so we also weren't holding up the table). When it was time for dessert, I asked the server when he was at our table, "Can I please have a cup of coffee, when you have a moment?" He cut me off mid sentence and rudely said "I'm backed up." I get it. If you had let me finish my sentence you would have known that I didn't need it in a rush, and that I understood you were busy. Plain & simple - there are several other ways he could have responded and should have responded! It was a cup of coffee. It seems after realizing all the poor decisions that were made during our meal and when it was time to bring out the bill, the server then tried to be a little friendlier, still not apologizing, but just saying things got a little hairy for a bit. It was too late. The lack in quality service ruined the complete experience. Similar to a previous yelp review, walking out was no different. The staff wasn't friendly. But the Valet crew was on point! Kudos to those guys!! They are the first people you talk to when you arrive to the hotel and the last people you interact with when you leave. They are friendly, fast, and make a great impression!! If I could do it over again - I'd take my servers tip (yes, I still tipped well regardless of the horrible service) and hand it over to the valet! This is just not the type of establishment I'd like to return to because I don't think the experience would change. They need to take some of the harsh criticisms and improve on the things they are lacking. read more

Made reservations and went to Heirloom for brunch with my family. It was alright. First off, there is no parking and you have to valet. You can validate, but only for the first hour. Next, the service was very slow. The servers were friendly, but it took a while for them to take our order and they weren't busy at all. When we looked at the prices of the items on the menu we thought that it was a good value, until we saw the size of the portions. Now I get the whole quantity isn't always what you want to set your value rating off of, but the dishes weren't good enough to justify the cost per portion sizes. All this would have been alright, but then I got notified by the service that we booked the reservation through that they reported we were a no-show and the service followed up with me to enquire why we didn't show up to our reservations. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary here over brunch after church. We wanted to try something new and we are so happy we came here! The atmosphere is so nice! The food was delicious and our Bloody Marys were the best we ever had! Julie, the bartender is a true mixologist! She even makes her own mix from scratch! The desserts alone are worth the trip! We shared the Brussels sprouts, cauliflower Mac and short rib gnocchi which were all really delicious. But these five stars are dedicated to the cinnamon bun and chocolate cloud desserts. The cinnamon bun was a flaky, warm pastry with frosting and caramel sauce. I could not stop eating it! And the chocolate cloud was basically chocolate mousse with raspberries. Rich but well balanced with the fruit. Both were heaven in a hotel restaurant. Stayed in the hotel came down at 9 am. No one greeted us. We asked the bartender if it was self serve he said to sit anywhere. All the tables were dirty and uncleaned but the restaurant was completely empty inside. We sat for about 8 minutes while a server walked past us and never greeted us. We asked the bartender if we could wit with him instead but he was still setting up so he couldn't help us, but he would grab a server for us. Finally got service. After we got our food the server never checked how the food was which was unfortunate because one of our plates was missing an item ordered and had eggs that were completely over cooked and had to be redone. After a while finally asked the server to have them redone. Two of us ate while the third waited about 10 minutes to eat his meal. Food was good but service was absolutely awful. No one touched the table, and the bill was full price which- not that we need a free meal but touching the table would have gone miles and a free coffee would have changed a whole awful experience. The fries were greasy and a bit soggy. My portobello mushroom dish was unimpressive. The mushrooms were sour. Too much balsamic vinaigrette on them. My "self sufficient" cocktail drink was too sour and sweet. Could make it lighter with sugar and not so tart. Tastes way too syrupy. The avocado toasts were good but so small. The bread was the size of a typical small sandwich bread slice. The curried cauliflower dish my husband had was good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes and drinks. Food and drinks were good (top hits were the cauliflower Mac, living kale salad and sea bass) but they were woefully understaffed. 2-3 servers for the entire restaurant which was full. It took 45 min for drinks, 1.5 hrs to get dinner. Hopefully they'll adjust this or they'll lose out to nearby habana and cucina enoteca. read more

As a business traveler, it is always great to find welcoming staff at the hotel restaurants and bars. That said, the bar staff including Julie, Luis, Alex, Brooke, and Liz always makes my trips familiar and memorable. This has become my oasis from work, and there is always a great suggestion for a new drink or dinner entree. First off, these folks are top shelf at their crafts. The care taken to provide folks with quality cocktails is outstanding. I am often amazed watching them work, and Julie has the unique ability to read patrons and provide the perfect suggestion for a cocktail. She is knowledgeable with wine, beer, and most certainly spirit suggestions. In fact, I can say I have become a newly anointed Whiskey aficionado thanks to Julie. Luis and Alex are always warm and welcoming, remembering my preferences and making me feel welcome! Liz, well she is just great. We met here for breakfast with some friends today. For me, it's a mixed feelings kind of place. We arrived finding that it's valet only parking that cost us $20.00 to park. Seriously? We were told that with validation, we could get the first 30 minutes free and then $5.00 for half hour or $20.00 max. After we are all seated, our waiter takes our coffee and drink order. We ordered bloody Mary's and mimosas. After about 15 min, we're wondering what is taking so long, and I'll add, this place is EMPTY other than another couple. So we flag down our waiter and ask what's up. The bar isn't open yet and they had to open it up and make the Bloody Mary mix and bring in the ice. Our server could have at least said something. So happy we ordered our food at the same time. The service there is very slow, VERY SLOW. The food was good, not excellent. One friend told our server that if there wasn't real maple syrup on the pancakes, to serve it on the side. It wasn't maple syrup and it wasn't on the side. Another friend had the chilaquile, she said it was ok, rather bland. The eggs Benedict my other friends had, they said it was good. Others had the regular eggs, bacon, potatoes stack (3 slabs of a potato fried) and toast. Overall, food was satisfactory and the service was lacking. Really authentic places to get some traditional American food in the Orange County Area! This place is recently opened and they are tugged in the Marriott hotel. They can be a little difficult to find at the first time check in but it's not a big problem for me. After you checkin with the host, there are two options of seating! One is indoor and the other one is outdoor! I would love the one that is indoor and outdoor but unfortunately they don't have it! So I went with my gut and choose the out door location. When we sat outdoor, there is a chilly wind that was first noticed by my grandma so we moved in but kept the window open! So it's like inside out and outside in! Ok onto the real topic! Heirloom Farmhouse should be added to the secret gem list of Irvine. I am definitely a fan of chef Cameron and the Heirloom Farmhouse Kitchen. Since i pass this hotel all the time at work i have been wanting to write a review for this place for a while. I went with my family for dinner and made it out to be a food adventure for them. Which means i did not tell them too much so they would not get over hyped. We sat down at a big table and immediately the waitress took our order for drinks and explained the menu. I really enjoyed the drinks that we ordered. I ordered a Japanese Whiskey drink and it was amazing!!! So we ordered a few different small plates and shared them family style. I was really impressed with the small plates. The cauliflower macrooni and the gnocchi was simply incredible. The plates were not to over seasoned nor bland. When you bite into those plates the flavor slowly melts on your tongue and as you eat more of the dish the more the flavor just simply explodes in your mouth. We got the main course and i split the salmon with my mom and it was great. The salmon just melts in your mouth, it was crispy and buttery tender at the same time with every bite. After trying a little of everyone else's dish i was convinced that this restaurant is one of Irvine's hidden gems. I am looking forward to going back and to try more of their menu.
