If I could give negative stars, I would. After waiting 45 minutes to get a fill, which I called about before hand, I still didn't get my nails done. There were 3 women working there but only one person getting their nails done. The other two woken were standing around talking on their cell phones. Finally the one woman who was working came and got me and sat me down, started to talk on her cell phone and took nail slippers and my hand and tried to cut my nails off! Are you serious? I pulled my hand away and tried to explain to her that there are my real nails and I just get gel over them to keep them strong. She kept telling me she needed to cut them and put on a tip and grabbed my hand ignoring what I told her. By the way, she was still talking on her cell phone. I pulled my hand away again and started to leave. This place is horrible. No offense to anyone but it seems that if you are white... you will get crappy service here.... I've talked to some other people I know who went there who had a poor experience as well... WHITE. Yet, the reviews here.... I'm sure you can figure it out. read more

I went for the first time today and, although it was quite busy, they fit me in almost immediately. Jenny gave me a manicure and gel work and did an awesome job! She was quick but meticulous. All for only $20.... Don't let the venue fool you! It may be small and hard to find but they are so sweet and do great work! And did I mention the prices are cheap!? I went after work to get my nails done and they turned me away at 7:45 they said they were closing for the night. I like Helen she's such a sweetheart but today I was very disappointed with the service with one of her workers. She was basically doing whatever she wanted, never even asked me what I wanted or if she was doing too much. I showed her a pic and told her I wanted my French manicure SHORT & white tip to be thin she said she would file them. Yea I was already in there for 1 1/2hr and was running late so I just left didn't want to sit another hour just so she could be all pissed about fixing it. Best part she was going to add GEL without consulting me FIRST. Why would I pay extra on nails I don't like? Seriously No tip. I want to feel bad but no. Pics are what I wanted vs what I got. Ps. This was my first time coming to this nail shop and just may be my last! The wait wasn't too too long and I got placed in a spa chair and left there..... for about 20 minutes. But there was a woman and her daughter that came in after me that had a nail tech already working on them....as I sat and waited. I was about to leave and finally someone came over. While cutting my cuticles it was very uncomfortable and I seen red. I asked is it bleeding rigt there and was told no, she just cleaned it all right there. Ummm... then why is that the only spot she put oil on?? On the phone the whole time, no base coat and when she was finished said okay thank you and left... No help putting my sandals on.. . Nothing!! I go in every two weeks to get a manicure and pedicure for me and mom , usually do a good job. But because of today's experience I will not be going back. The girl all the way to the right in the first row when you first walk in was in a hurry and always on her phone! Didn't even file my nails for a basic manicure ! Shitty ass customer service. I walked in at 7 pm asked if they could fix 2 broken nails and a color change. Being that its closing time at 730, she told me yes to take a seat. I used to love this place but I recently went to get my nails done and the nail lady treated me so wrong, she was being rough on my hands, and at one point she hurt me, so I told her to be more gentle , I also mentioned one nail was breaking and I told her to replace it so then she ignored me and just put powder over the nail but it was breaking she could have just replaced it but she wanted to be quick and lazy, my nail finally broke as I told her and she made a face at me and was acting all bothered and mad when I told her it was breaking, she also did a terrible paint job she was being quick and fast I don't appreciate that or attitude she needs to tone it down with her attitude as soon as she made a face she started blabbing most likely complaining since she made a face at me never again am I coming here worst experience. read more

It looked better then the picture I showed him. The pricing was surprisingly really cheap too. The staff was so friendly and easy to talk to . I really hate to give bad reviews but this was the worst pedicure I've ever had. The regular place I go to closed at 7 but this place was open late so I thought I would give it a try. I got there at 715 and they were pretty busy so I knew there would be a little wait. No big I wasn't in a hurry. I walk in and no greeting a employee just kinda yells at me from farther back what I wanted. I just wanted a pedicure and gel manicure. She doesn't ask me to pick a color just pints at a chair at the very end and says there. I walk back waiting for her to come over but nope. I'm standing there feeling a little awkward. This should have been the point I left but like I said they were busy. She yells at me you can sit. I sit down and I'm waiting for her to com over still nope. 10 min later she comes over jerks the towel from under my feet and turns the water the on. It's warm enough but no pedi salt and no chair massage. It's now 805.... I'm getting ready to get up and leave at this point. It's been over 40 min. No acknowledgment and the water is cold now. She walks over rite when I start to get up. I figure I've waited this long may as well ride it out. Should have left. She starts the pedicure. She is rude cut me 3 times and pushed my leg back in the water. She says I start your nails in a min and I said no it's ok it's getting late I'm just going to do the pedicure. She catches an attitude and starts rushing the rest. When she scrubs my feet she made me sit on the edge chair and informs me I'm too short. This is awkward and uncomfortable same thing when she paints them. The massage was half assed and rushed. Once she gets the paint she informs me I need to move so they can dry.. so I have to walk barefoot across the dirty ass floor to go sit with a fan on my toes. There is paint on the skin and one nail is darker than the rest. I should have just waited till the morning for my reg place but I wasn't feeling good and was hoping this would relax me. I couldn't been more wrong. I wish I read more of the reviews before coming in. And the owners husband was smoking in the back room 10 feet from where I was sitting. Never never again. One star cuz I can't give negative 5. This place REALLY sucks. My lady went to get a manicure and pedicure today and as I was waiting for her, my patience was fading fast. It took so very long for them to finish. The reason they take so damn long is because they start on one person, then stop to start on another person who just walks through the door so that way they don't loose customers by having to have them wait and possibly leave due to waiting time. Now they have a bunch of customers sitting around half way through their project waiting for someone to come and finish them so they can leave. Who the hell wants to sit around with half way done nails, watching other people get up sold and ripped off and having to listen to the employees talk shit in their language. I needed a manicure pretty bad. My fingers were getting sore and had a hangnail. I decided to go in. First of all she wanted to use a nail drill on my natural nails to get the gel off. My previous gel was practically off already. I felt she wanted to rush. I asked her not to use the drill. I said it weakens my nails and the break... she said "I know". Wait! What? Hmph. Maybe a communication error. Then she's soaking my nails and refers to the drill and says "you don't like it...?" I again said no. My nails are natural. They'll weaken and break. I'm all in for an aggressive manicure.. get rid of those cuticles but she hurt me a couple times. My fingers hurt a lot. Possibly inexperienced. I don't know. But she wasn't good with the file either. She scraped my fingers several times. Then! If that is not enough.... she wiped my nails and says ok your done. As my hands drape waiting for the lotion massage I say "no lotion?" So she gives me a quick rub. I wouldn't have reviewed this place because my experience was not pleasant. But then she tried to rush 1 too many times. I tipped well. The price was cheap. I will not return... ever read more

Helen's Nails is a great nail salon! Helen gives the Absolute Best pedicures! She actually scrubs your feet until all the dead skin is off & their soft with a fantastic massage all for $12. Or you can get the same pedicure for a few dollars more in a massage chair. I am not over exaggerating. You truly feel pampered! You could always go to one of those high end salons w/ the massage chairs that charge a fortune. Where your pedicure lasts about 15 minutes & you still have rough feet w/ sore legs. Broke one of my nails to where it would be too short for another gel polish. Asked to match it with the others with acrylic. Instead she started to take off gel from another nail ! this is my permanent nail shop in San Diego! I like how it's really cheap.. short set of acrylic nails are $12 medium length are $15 and long nails are $20. this is all using regular polish NOT gel. As for fills, short nails are $8 medium nails are $10 and long nails are $15. gel is not that much more expensive here at Helens. you really couldn't beat the prices. they have a huge selection of nail polishes, not too much opi/China glaze, but the brands they do carry for regular polish last a long time! i came in on a Friday night (yesterday) and for the first time ever, I waited for a long time. after an hour, i said ill come back tomorrow and they apologized and took me in right away. although i wish they gave me a discount for the time i waited, the quality of nails made up for it! i got my fill done in about 45 minutes which is really good because i asked to switch from my long square nails to coffin shaped nails. I've now had every girl at the salon do my nails and I love them all so much I couldn't pick a favorite! they also have a huge selection of snacks in the front of the salon for the customers which was nice! most snacks ranged from 50 cents to $1. if you show them a photo of what you want they'll always do it exactly the way you want it! I've came here for pedicures too and they always do the shape i ask for perfectly (not posting a photo of my feet bc that's weird) pedicures are $15. i always leave super happy getting my nails done at Helens. it beats all of the other nail salons on their street by far! read more

This salon is by far one of the bests I've found near Spring Valley, Cathy is amazing! I really wanted my boyfriend to get a pedicure but he was iffy about it considering since it was his first time and of course a salon is usually where women have their "me" time, as soon as we sat in the spa chairs the staff made us feel welcomed. Cathy did an amazing job, my boyfriend felt relaxed and comfortable, the staff was extremely nice and chatty, just what I like at a nail salon. I hate feeling awkward or as if I'm being talked about but the whole time we were there they made conversation with us! The prices are fair as well, not overpriced at all! This nail shop is good for when you have a lot of time, but if you are in any hurry don't come here. Very good for pedicures. They really take there time rubbing your feet. For Acrylic nails I didn't have the best experience and wouldn't recommend. They end up really thick and not well done. The gell that they use is a nail polish and it's not worth getting. It's not the best kind. This place is extremely busy!!! Even with a appointment. Go early as possible and not on the weekend unless you don't mind spending HOURS there. This place is clean but not fancy. There friendly, they ask how's your day, how's the family and other small talk. They don't have a waxer every day and that's a bummer. But when she is there she is the best. I have dry sensative skin so getting my eye brows waxed is not my favorite thing but she is very good at shaping and waxing. I'll wait for her because she is that good. The wax they use is like a soft puff wax I think. It's very gentle and feels great on my skin. It's a thick light pink color not orange yellow and nasty like most places. This is the kinda wax I prefer anyways when it comes to my face. There prices are right. For acrlic nails I would recommend a nice salon in la Mesa right between 24 hour and subway by helix high school. The resion why this place isn't my favorite is because it's in the ghetto of lemon grove people are rude and a little crazy at times. Also when I think of a nail shop I Immediately think acrilc nail.
