This salon is by far one of the bests I've found near Spring Valley, Cathy is amazing! I really wanted my boyfriend to get a pedicure but he was iffy about it considering since it was his first time and of course a salon is usually where women have their "me" time, as soon as we sat in the spa chairs the staff made us feel welcomed. Cathy did an amazing job, my boyfriend felt relaxed and comfortable, the staff was extremely nice and chatty, just what I like at a nail salon. I hate feeling awkward or as if I'm being talked about but the whole time we were there they made conversation with us! The prices are fair as well, not overpriced at all! Seriously cheap but I don't think it's worth it. All the women are rude. Came here since I was in the area. I went in for a simple eyebrow wax, noticed that she double dips with the same stick. I don't think she saw me as a person since she kept shoving my head any way she wanted and yelling at me when she would pinch my face. Worst experience ever. My eyebrows came out ok but one was a bit thicker than the other. My mom came along with me for a pedicure to fix one of her in grown toe nails. Lady that was helping her out went in the same way. My mom obviously was in pain and told her to stop and she flat out told her no. After I went to check on her and gave her lady a mean look she decided to change her attitude. It was my first time to get a manicure and pedicure here. I came here because my hubby told me about this place since he yelped it for me. I decided to check the place out and boy, did i came in the wrong day? It was packed. The ladies were nice and they asked me what I wanted to do. I told them that i would like to get a mani and pedi with gel. The pedi felt good and the mani was good but the gel part? I didnt get no gel cuz they didnt want to give me what i requested. Said that it was too much work so i just told them fine i'll do the basic. It sux cuz i wanted a french tip with the mint green color. The worst part of the experience was the waiting game. I sat throughout the whole thing for 2 1/2 hours!!!! Who does that?!! I was getting annoyed and my hubby was pretty pissed off. He said that the girls that came after me were already done and im still here. I felt so bad that i dragged my hubby into this. Felt so bad that he had to wait here for a long ass time. You get what you pay for. A $12 pedicure where you sit in a desk chair with wheels, in a row of along the walls. We had an appointment, showed up on time and we didn't get started until 45 minutes later. The technicians continued to take customers when they were already overbooked which makes for a rushed pedicure with rough handling. Turned out to be a 30 minute pedicure, nails not filed smoothly and a poor polishing job (after taking a closer look once I got home). I was also surprised they didn't use a top coat. This was the ABSOLUTE WORST experience at a nail salon I've ever had. First impression was horrible anyway, bad area, but when you walk in immediately I got hit with humidity and mustiness. It was so hot in there and the ladies started talking loudly at me to wait so I sat and waited for 20 mins.. when I finally got a pedicure I was sitting and waiting for her to attend to me, while my feet were soaking. My feet ended up getting pruned and the water turned freezing. Then she finally got to me, never got her name, I told her my feet are very sensitive from the jump and she just interrupted me saying " I know I know I know what I'm doing" I told her I wanted a French tip and she denied doing that style!? Then she started YANKING skin and nail off from the sides of my toes making me BLEED on BOTH FEET. As this was happening I continued to pull my feet away in pain and telling her "ow! This really hurts" and she would grab my feet, pull the closer to her and say "it's Okay". No it's not, anyway. After that she dried my feet and my entire legs of completely, then went and got a large amount of a very dry and hard exfoliant and starts tearing at my legs with it, I'm very sensitive and my legs were dry!! You don't do that! I was obviously in pain telling her while my legs are turning bright red I couldn't take it anymore. She was constantly getting up and leaving to talk to other artists anyway when she was helping me so after she left I got up and just asked her to wash the exfoliant off because I wanted to leave. She processed to do so by trying to get me to say and getting my pants soaking wet and just being ridiculous. I said " let me pay you for what you did and I'm leaving" she said "$20" and I said I simply did not want to pay that amount for the hurt she caused me and she made it to $17... this was absolutely the hands down worst nail salon in San Diego. I started going to Helens 9 yrs ago and yes she's good but believe it or not she was better. I have referred many people to her through out the years there was a time when I wouldn't go anywhere else. But its sad to say that I no longer go to her and the reason for that is Helen became greedy and wasn't doing the same quality of work she gets so busy looking out the door that she lacks attention with the customers in the shop. I tried giving her chances to see if it was just a phase but sadly it wasn't I made appointments and she would take other people who didn't have an appointment before me, not to mention they are so careless that they often cut you. The last straw was when friend and I made an appointment three days in advance for a very special wedding we got there 15min early our appointment came and we still were sitting there after 40min of waiting which we shouldn't have been because we had made an app. she finally sat us down and got started with my pedi once she had my feet in the water she told me I had to wait 1-2hrs for my full set cuss chick had walked in and had been waiting for 4min. I proceeded to tell het that we had made the appointment for a reason the wedding wad that night so she told me to leave and come back in 2hrs. I was so upsety friend didn't even get a pedi. I paid and walked out and haven't been back since. The way I see it is if you have loyal customers that have been with you for years you should appreciate them not treat them like crap. She treats old clients in this manner because she knows we won't go any where but she thought wrong I'm not the only client that walked away many of us have and its sad cuss at one point she was really sweet. Even an employee wad fired because they told het to treat old clients better. This lady opened her shop and takes her time with each client. Two stars I think is right but only because the lady did do a pretty good job ony nails and they we're friendly. Here's the issue. Huge sign outside $11.99 for fullset. I was like cool all I want is basic color. I specifically said I want just a basic color set for 11.99 okay? "Okay okay pick a color" hand me a ring of colors to pick out just like any salon right? Pick a color...lady is doing a real good job.im like "SWEET I found a legit place that's cheap" I thought well since I'm only paying $12 bucks I'll get the top gel coat of it's like 5 bucks. She said "oh this is gel you have gel.$28.00 doller" I never asked for gel I said basic whatever you get for freaking $11.99 like the huge sign on the window!!!!! " The colors you were looking at are gel" well then why wouldn't you say that when you handed them to me when u told me to pick a color. I'm sooooo SICk of how nail salons always hustle women into more expensive services and then not telling them until after the service is done and don't ask you if you are okay with this extra charge. Aaaallllll salons are like this and it is Soo freaking shady man. I said I'm not paying $28 I'm not I did not ask for this I was not informed of this and I made it totally clear and stressed the fact I want the basic basic full set NO GEL NO PPWDER SOLAR BLABLABLA ALL THE ECTRA BULLSHIT YOU ALWAYS PUSH she did bring it down to $20...but so shady. Out of all the nails shops on the strip, this is the best one. The ladies here are so sweet. The prices are very very reasonable. I got a polish change in my toes for $5 and a polish change on my acrylics for $15 $20 in total. This is my go to place when I'm in the area. I've never gotten an actual fill or full set though so I can't review on that. I love how thankful they are to see someone more than once read more

This is a great place to get your nails done, and I do love coming here. They take about an hour for a mani/pedi, and you can call ahead, but it doesn't always make a difference. They do a wonderful job at shaping and painting the nails, but my nails ended up bloody after one of the younger professionals manicured them. Went here for my first manicure with acrylic nails and a pedicure. As soon as I walked in everyone welcomed me and was very friendly. I was initially worried about the location because it's not the typical nail salon with the designated sections for each service. They don't have the big nice massage chairs and a front desk but once you get started and see the quality of work they put out it is easy to get over. went in today for a fill and even thought I had an appointment I was waiting 40 minutes before I was seen. I don't remember the name of the manicurist that helped me but she did a very good job. she was very easy to talk to when I wanted something done differently and was very eager to please. although I am very happy with my nails, it took FOREVER TO DO. I got out of there TWO HOURS after I started. if you ask me, that's WAY too long for a simple fill. the pricing was pretty good, $21 for the fill with gel polish. overall happy with the end result, it just took a while to get there. read more

My nails always last for 2 months & this last time I came from Mich to my sons elegant wedding on a Yacht, i didnt know what exactly I wanted. The lady helped me decide & OMG they looked beautiful. Helen's is great! I have coming here for 16 years and she is amazing. Just tell her how u like them (long, short, thin, thick ect) and she will will do a great job. Her sister Cathy does my feet and she rubs them and makes them feel great! My mom, mother in law, sister and friends all come here because it is a great deal and they do a great job. Love this place! They are always friendly and almost always get me in immediately. I love that they are easy on the wallet and still do a great job. Sometimes they do get a little busy, but thats a good sign to me. I can usually wait and just relax. I see alot of the same people each time I'm in and they seem to be loyal regulars. I also appreciate that they will speak up about a color or style that may not work well and will help me figure it out. I get compliments in my nails all the time! Terrible pedicure experience here. Came in at 7 and there were about 5 other ladies in the salon. Had to wait for about 10 minutes before they got to me. Cathy cut my toenails WAY too short AND they were crooked. She was rushing to get to the next customer. She used the cuticle scissors to cut out my nail on the sides and it was very painful... I told her it hurt and jerked my foot back a few times due to the pain. I hope I don't get an ingrown toenail or infection because of her carelessness. Since it was done so fast, the pedicure came out sloppy. However, Helen was nice enough to put on the top coat that Cathy had not done and also removed the excess polish on my skin with nail polish remover. As a result, Cathy immediately began speaking in Vietnamese obviously talking crap about me. Would not recommend coming here. read more

Eyebrow waxing seemed quite popular. Many there were return customers. Just know that they are not where their high building sign is, go down 5 more shops east and look for the window sign. I really like Helene, and her work, although I was very disappointed this last week after having both my acrylic gel fill, and pedicure done by her sister and another woman I had never met. The salon wasn't busy and these ladies were pushing through their work so fast & sloppy"" I might add. It started off with the boiling water in the un-sanitized bin, the trimming (which cut my toe & caused bleeding), the nasty toe gunk being displayed on the top of my foot and eventually massaged into my skin as if the gunk was an exfoliating touch to top off my pedicure session. It was the worse I've had in the 35 years I've been getting my toes done by several places. My nails were filled with lumps, the gel color wasn't evenly spread over entire nail, access dried acrylic around my cuticles which I had to clip off every finger once I got home, and my natural nails on 2 fingers lifted up that same night. Next day, my index finger nail completely popped off. This place has been around for many years, and it just keeps getting more and more run down, un-sanitized, dirty, and completely not up to par. These ladies obviously don't care about their work nor their customers. It's about how fast they can get you out the door. I'm so sorry Helene, but I will NOT be going back to your place of business. They are a smaller nail salon and get very busy unless you make an appointment, you could be waiting for a while. Just call and ask them what time is a good time.
