After all these years Marcus (the owner) has certainly perfected his craft of amazing pizza doughs and it comes through over and over again in every single one of his pies... which you can only get here!! Now that they've had a storefront, it's awesome being able to stop by and grab a slice (or two, three or 12!) whenever we are craving it and it never disappoints! My absolute fave is the CBR & I love that it made it to the menu as a staple because it's one of the BEST pizzas I've ever had. No seriously. The flavor combo along with the crust being so fresh and crispy is like a slice of heaven every-time! Can't get just one! We Also love the pepperoni jalapeño pizza... who am I kidding, they're all delicious and great choices! Their pizza is also perfect to walk and eat on the go (which I happen to do again today!) The shop also now sells hella square pies too which isn't something you can get anywhere, such a treat with baked cheesy edges - yum! Pair anything with cheesy garlic knots and it's a party! Slices To--Go take just a few minutes to heat and personal pies or full size pizzas take 20-30 minutes depending on how busy they are. Always greeted with a smile, the spot has good vibes and a great mural on the inside wall with some old school nostalgic touches. A couch inside and a couple of small tables outside in front. Parking isn't always easy directly in the front but is always available not too far! I love their pizza but their customer service is lacking a 4-5 star rating. There was a special pizza today with a new Creole spicy sausage and unlike any pizza place I've ever been to they allowed no substitutions! I could not believe it. The pizza came with sautéed bell pepper and onion with a creole spiced sausage and all I wanted to do was remove the onion and add pepperoni and black olive, which would've been an additional cost yet they weren't willing to do that. It doesn't make sense something that would make them more money they would refuse to do! They would not even allow me to make my own combination using the new creole sausage, what??? Usually they will make you any combination as long as the have the ingredients that day which since it was the daily special the had the ingredients in hand. Again I love their pizza, just not a fan of their customer service! The response from the owner was basically sorry you don't get it your way yet their menu has a build your own pizza section. As far as not changing already designed pizza I frequently order the Noni & Nono with added mushrooms and that never seems to be a problem. Given the option I would have removed both the onions and bell peppers if they were already mixed. Again with customer service this could have been explained over the counter instead of just being told no we can't do that. Kinda sounds like the Seinfeld episode the Soup Nazi, No soup for you! My pizza was burnt (forgot to mention taste aweful last time too) and asked for one side of ranch and had to pay $2 (after spending $60 for some mediocre bread, sauce, and cheese)... it's just the principle. This is definitely hella wack imo and others when they read this post, WTH ‍, never coming back and I was a big fan in the past. Will find a new pizza spot and let others know to find new spot. Update to Marcus: look at his businesses condescending reply, love it. No one honestly charges for sauce on side if you buy pizzas and it's just pizza buddy. What a shame my first time trying this place. Immediately sour taste in my mouth. A female worker with short blonde hair who I believe had piercings on her face Immediately judged my animal and said, "you can wait outside for your food we don't allow dogs in our establishment." I kindly went outside to wait and as she came out with my food and I kindly said to her, "my dog is a service animal and instead of just assuming my dog isn't you should ask before you assume."Please take the appropriate steps to train your employees. This is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for a restaurant to ask you to leave without first asking two permissible questions: "Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?" and "What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?" Do better. I'd like to address your recent update to your response. It's clear you're trying to make your establishment appear in a better light while subtly mischaracterizing my pet. First, you assume my pet is a pitbull so once again, assumptions are being made based on appearance, which is concerning in itself as well as the initial assumption that was initially made by your employee. And also what does the breed have to do with anything ? Now you've added terms like "overstimulated" and "biting its leash" your response is evolving in a way that seems more about justifying your employees actions rather than taking responsibility/accountability. Do you feel better now that you used those terms to soften the situation for the world reading this comment? At the end of the day, your staff made an assumption instead of following ADA Guidelines-- and that's where the issue lies. A professional business should own the mistake, not keep revising the narrative after the fact by changing the response. Your response sounds unprofessional especially when you say "your pit-bull wasn't a service animal" as if you are saying pit bulls can't be service animals and insinuating pit bulls are untrainable or troubled breeds. This all sounds like you're trying to save face for your 1 star review rather than actually improve and show that your establishment is sincere. You sound unprofessional as a business....and then you end with "sorry." Cameras are great! Glad those are up and running. As much as I really wanted to like the pizza here the heavy greasiness of it was just too distracting. Each bite had a bit of an oil slick and I couldn't taste much of the toppings because of it. Though, the pizza crust itself was scrumptiously fluffy and crispy. Cool interior (I dig the wall mural) and friendly staff. My go to is the Sicilian....those little curled up pepperoni's are my kryptonite, and the crust on this thing...chefs kiss. They warm it up individually for you and you are in and out within a few minutes. Their honey dip is legit too, the owner offered me some on the house since it was my first time in. Pizza is so good my kid finished theirs!! I loved it as well. The location is small and hard to find street parking. Busy location, I had to drive around and parked at a parking lot walking distance by. There was always someone coming in to grab a slice of pizza. We sat on the little couch area to eat. They have a few small tables outside. There was a lemonade stand inside when we went. The cute little girl was working for tips only which was so adorable. She had such a sweet set up there, I had to dig in my purse to find cash to support. I tipped $5 for 3 drinks and it was so tasty I finished mine!! Definitely a great place to come in and grab a slice of pizza for sure. Takes just a few minutes to warm up the slices that are available in their display. Got to try the special of the day:,the Beez Knees. It was a white pizza with walnuts, bacon, and a honey drizzle. They have the savory set thing down. Although, I wish there had been a bit of spice. Was in the area to check out something and this was close by on the map and the name caught my eye! It looked good and a hella cute theme so I had to come in! There wasn't a line when I walked in and was able to order right away, I ended up getting the silician pepperoni slice and I really enjoyed it! The 2 girls working there were super nice too. Love the theming that it's very Bay Area/NorCal and the teddy bear thing eating pizza is cute! There was a little coffee table that looks like a cassette tape too. On our quest for the best pie I finally made it to Hella Pie before closing time! Review is strictly on to go cheese slices that I heated at home. Bonus, scored $2 slices for their anniversary promo! Love that they're a family business using quality ingredients and homemade sauce with yeasty dough. What I wasn't wild about was the liberal use of a seasoning that they topped the pie with. It was salty with bits of parsley and made the pie way too salty which obscured the taste of the pie. There was no spices near the crust and I enjoyed the taste of the good cheese, tomato and yeasty crust. (NOTE: I have a low tolerance to salt and order my fries with no salt) If I were Dave with Barstool, one bite everyone knows the rules, the slice had good underside crust with minimal flop. Good ratio sauce to cheese. Rating on room temperature to go slice 6.5 Fresh out of the oven most likely 6.9. Next time, I'll order a whole pie and ask for no seasoning! I got the chicken, bacon garlic slice and it was delicious. I like that they weren't skimpy with the bacon and chicken. The ingredients were fresh. I enjoyed the slice so much so I bought a slice of their white pizza to take home. I enjoyed eating that slice the following morning for breakfast. A great place to get some great pizza! I finally was able to try Hella Pie for the first time after seeing raves for it all over Facebook. It's located in Downtown Tracy where there's plenty of parking around and the business, fortunately, isn't too hard to find either. I came in right at 12 PM since that's the time Google said they open and noticed they had already been taking customers (it was a Saturday morning). We immediately went inside to get our order in since it already looked like it was getting busy. My partner and I ordered the 12" Pepperoni ($17) and CBR (chicken bacon ranch) ($23) pizzas. It is relatively pricy here compared to other pizza places. But, they definitely win with the quality of their pizzas! If you're a fan of impressive cheese pulls, this place certainly doesn't disappoint. The crust was super fresh and fluffy with a slight crunch. AWARENESS: I first tried Hella Pie Pizza last year, during a stroll trough Tracy's weekend Farmers Market. Back then, they had a mobile pizza oven and sold pies by both the slice and whole pies. It wasn't until recently my wife told me Hella Pie open a shop, downtown in Tracy on 10th Street. Remember how good the pizza tasted, I knew I had revisit. NARRATIVE: A few weeks ago, the wife and I were bicker back and forth as we usually do about what each other wanted for dinner. When the suggestion of pizza came about, the wife insisted we order a pie from here at, Hella Pie Pizza. I agreed and a phone call was made to request our order. SCENE: Hella Pie Pizza is located in the heart of Tracy's downtown area on the 10th Street just West of Central Avenue. I did not get the chance to actually see the interior since our order was placed as a to-go order but, I plan to visit again in the near future. I will update my review when that happens. EVIDENCE: Hella Pie Pizza is by far one of the better pizza choices in the Tracy area. The have daily pizza special which they post on most social media platforms and as you can see by their reviews, they know what they area doing and know their customers. REALLY GOOD PIZZA! I tried the Noni, a pepperoni Sicilian, and some garlic knots. Their slices are PERFECT. No flop, perfect amount of sauce, great crispy crust. The focaccia for the Sicilian is so delicious, dense, yet airy and very thick, honestly a little too thick for me. I wish the ratio of the sauce, cheese and pepperoni was equal to focaccia. The garlic knot's texture was perfect. Soft, stretchy, and a little chewy. I wish the garlic knots had a stronger garlic flavor, but my brother said they normally add more garlic, butter and Parmesan. I would definitely come by any time I'm craving pizza in Tracy, seriously some of the best pizza I have ever had.
