Carnitas and Corn Muffin with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Yes please! The eggs - perfectly poached. Runny yolk but not undercooked. The carnitas - great on their own and an awesome compliment to the dish. The corn muffin - delicious. A bit sweet for my taste, but it went well with the dish. The side - homestyle potatoes. Meh. If I could give ZERO stars I would. The management here at this location is absolutely horrendous!!!! The food is good, but plan to basically wait 5 hours to get your food. Numerous tables around us were given their meals despite being sat after us. They also brought our food out in increments of 15 minutes, so we were all eating at different times and couldn't enjoy the meal together. One of our guests had to leave due to the wait being so long, so they didn't even get their meal. We asked to have it taken off of the bill and when they forgot to, the manager was rude about it when we reminded her that it was still showing on the check. The place is super small so everyone was packed in like sardines as well. The table behind us were seated after, got their food first and also got their bill comped for the inconvenience of the wait time and wrong order. We got a measly 10% off our bill... so apparently they pick and choose who they want to be "polite" to. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Delicious food! But the wait was ridiculous! Waited 45 min for a table, then another 10 or so to give my order. 20+ min later the server tells us that "ticket times are over 35 minutes because we're training our cooks for the new store today." Great for them...is Saturday morning really the best time to train?? We were there for nearly two hours, and she had the nerve to charge me an extra .99 for my kid to get juice refill. Meanwhile the manager is walking around chit chatting with people instead of doing anything productive. So, you're training a bunch of new people and you really feel the best use of your time is to visit with your 'regulars'? Won't be recommending this location to anyone anytime soon! read more

I really don't get it. How this place could have a four-star average is beyond me. We were out in Chandler to look at a car and wanted breakfast afterwards. First Watch, our initial choice, was packed and I just won't wait an hour for eggs I could cook at home in 10 minutes. Unfortunately we were 45 minutes from home. Henhouse was the next best, closest choice. Glad I don't live out this way, because I would really miss Butter's and Butterfield's in Scottsdale. Hands down, they offer the best breakfast in the Phoenix area. From the kitschy decor to the below average food it just wasn't worth it. My partner, a very forgiving person, told me the a few days later how awful he thought it was. We both had skillets and they were terrible. The combination was way off. Turkey that tasted like it had been frozen and Yams in a skillet with eggs. It sounded waaaay better than it tasted. And you only get one slice of toast with your skillet. How cheap is that? The food is generally pretty good but there are issues. First of all they don't put enough gravy on the dish but if you ask for more you get charged $1.99 for an extra side of gravy. We have asked about this several times and we say we don't want a whole side and regardless of who the wait staff are they say they have to charge for any extra according to their management Second my friend always orders the HH sandwich which is really good but depending who the cook is, they assemble everything first and wait for the chicken to cook. While it sits, the potatoes, biscuit, and gravy all get cold. He sent it back and it came out the same again... chicken was steaming. Everything else was cold. I always order hot tea and everytime its lukewarm at best and I gave to send it back. I think at this point after several times of the same issues we are going to stop going there despite the fact that they have some pretty unique dishes that are tasty when hot. Came in for a quick bite to eat before work. I'm on the keto diet so its always hard to find something to eat. I went with one of the omelets. Its comes with potatoes and tost witch I cannot eat. Asked if there was an alternative I could get. They offer cottage cheese and fruit for an up charge. I literally did not get half the things my order came with and I was still upcharged for switching sides. If you're omelette wasn't that damn good I would be annoyed. Coffee (and I drink Starbucks coffee dark), coffee was terrible. Old and burnt tasting...and I again I drink coffee black. Wow. We arrived at this place at 9:07 am. We were seated outside at 9:10 am. At 10 am we were still waiting for food. We watched our waiter leave in his vehicle during that time. No one informed us or took over our table. Eventually I went inside to ask about our food and explained how long we had been waiting. I was told the manager would come see us. He did eventually, explaining that our food was coming out soon. I told him we had been there for almost an hour. He wanted to argue about the time but we were already packing up to leave. Super friendly staff and really cute and popular place. They seem to be known for their giant pancakes. We asked for small ones, but they don't do small. It would be nice if they did silver dollar pancakes for the kids and seniors. We also had French toast, sausage, eggs, and potatoes. We split a cinnamon roll between six of us as an appetizer. All of the food was solid breakfast fare. The coffee was standard diner coffee. Love the decor. read more

I was hoping to have a wonderful Sunday breakfast with my family; it was a tragedy. We had to wait an hour to be seated which was the circumstance. We were a party of 8 but the management gave us a table that only seats 6. We were packed like sardines. We ordered our meals but had to wait an 80 minutes. Unfortunately one of our members had to leave to help with a prior engagement before his meal was ever given to him and we requested the meal be taken off the bill. As I looked around some tables seated after us were getting their meals before us. The table next to ours talked the manager and she had comped their bill to apologize for the inconvenience. The meals trickled to us separately so the first meal was cold when the last meal was given since we were eating as a family. We discussed our thoughts to the manager, she offered a compliment of cinnamon buns even though the other table had their meal comped. She relented and gave us a discount. Came here on Saturday morning with family. It was very busy and we were given a 25 min wait time. We sat outside for no more than 5 min before we were given a table. Nice. The decor is very cute country farmhouse. They have limited seating inside, with a little bar-top type seating; and some tables outside. They had spring specials including some Irish themed items for St. Patty's Day like apple pancakes. I ordered the croissant sandwich with fried potatoes. Super delicious with the house made sausage patty being the star. My family ordered the Strawberry Cheescake stuffed french toast and the blueberry lemon marscapone pancake. They were very pleased. We also ordered the beignets that came with a berry sauce for the table, they were worth the wait. We also witnessed the Mom's pancake being taken to a table behind us-it's the size of a family sized pizza. Wow! I do wish they had their beverages listed on their menu, and that they had more coffee options. They do have fresh squeezed oj, which was very tasty. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I decided on the beyond grilled cheese which said it came with tomato basil bisque. The sandwiches all had an option of fries or potato salad. I chose fries. When my sandwich came there was no tomato soup. I asked about it and the waitress said that I chose fries so that replaced it. But it didn't say anywhere that it was one or the other and she didn't ask if I wanted fries instead of soup when I ordered. She said "fries alright?" So that was a disappointment. The bread was good but it was just toasted with barely melted cheese, bacon, and tomato in between the bread. It wasn't grilled together like a traditional grilled cheese. My friend got the Santa Fe omelet. She said that the omelet and toast were good but the potatoes lacked flavor and were soggy.
