We went as a party of 2 and waited 50 minutes to get our food. It was not just us--there were at least 4 other tables with small parties that waited at least that, if not longer. While we were waiting for our food, the waiter would come by to apologize and say that the kitchen was backed up and our food was almost ready (we believed it for the first 20 minutes). The manager or owner (I didn't catch his role) also came to us several times to remind us that they were voted "the best of Gilbert" and he would go sit back down with his wife. He and so many employees were hanging out in the dining area (the place was not at its peak hours), while I imagine the cooks were in need of dire help. When we finally got our food, most of it was cold and stale. The taste was nothing special, especially considering the ordeal to get it. To top it all off, I got food poisoning afterwards. It is not a stretch to say the food probably sat out too long. They did end up taking an item off the bill, but the damage was done. Looking at other reviews, it seems the long service time is not unusual for this place--we should have listened. All in all, poor service and subpar food. read more

This is my every Sunday breakfast place. Food is great. Staff is amazing! I've been going here for a little over a year now and this is a must have every week. Food is freshly made daily. Came in with a large group of adults and children after a bike ride 40 min before closing. Seemed clean and the menu looked great. My son loved their chicken fried steak and our girls were stoked about the Huge pancakes that were pretty good. Chicken salad was great and my husband loved his Diablo scramble and the other scrambles were excellent. In fact all the food was pretty great. A little disappointed that my potatoes were undercooked...maybe because they were hurried to get out the last customers of the day. I would only recommend that the staff check the cleanliness of the dishes. Found 2 hairs on my plate after finishing almost all my meal. Also one of our water cups was dirty inside and at the end of the meal while pouring my water I noticed the top of our water picture where the water came out had a dirty and greasy film on top. I want to start out by saying I wish I could give this place a lower rating than one star. I experienced by far the worst customer service I ever received. I left wondering if the manager was racist, if this was her character, or both. We ordered pancakes and weren't very pleased with the quality. It was your basic flower and water pancake. We both forced down one bite before we asked the waitress if we could please exchange the food for something else on the menu. The waitress seemed afraid to even ask the owner. She returned letting us know that owner said no. We asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out 15 minutes later extremely angry, huffing and puffing - asked "what is the problem" with a foul look on her face. We politely asked what was the issue with exchanging the food we didn't eat for something else. Her response was "my pancakes are great, I tasted them myself......I can't give away free food...we are in the business for making money". She walked away before I could even respond. She acted as if we were trying to pull one over on her. She clearly wasn't interested in what we had to say at all or figuring out a solution. I proceeded to pay for the food we didn't eat and left. The owner clearly cares nothing about her customers, or maybe just her customers of color (has anyone else experienced RACISM here?). I will never return. Such a horrible experience. We went there for breakfast today. The food was delicious and my corned beef hash was big enough to take half of it home. I had asked if the hash was made on site or came from a can and was told most of their food was local and made there on site. Yeah for no canned hash! It was differently delicious because it had sweet potatoes in it. Next time I want to try the Eggs Benedict. read more

Went back here with my niece telling her what a fantastic place it was to eat. Waited 25 minutes to get in and out a big deal. This was on Sunday October 21st. After we were seated our waitress seem very disinterested in serving us and like she wanted to be somewhere else. After waiting for over a half an hour for our food to come out I asked her if they were waiting for the chickens to lay the eggs. I was trying to keep it light as I was getting a little frustrated after waiting for 30 minutes. Instead of saying I'll get right back to you or let me see what's going on she rolled her eyes at me and told me I was not the only one waiting. To say the least I was extremely disappointed had to send the food back because the order was incorrect didn't dare send it back a second time even though the eggs were cold and Waffles were cold. So very disappointing the manager was there but he was unavailable not sure if we're ever going to go back. Certainly won't have this waitress wait on us again her name was Mika I believe she was very very rude and no I did not leave her a tip. I have never felt compelled to actually take the time out of my day to write a review especially someone who works in the service industry, but I had to on this occasion. Never been here and decided to try it out cute inside and very open. Now when the hostess went to seat us she brought us to a half booth half table setting with a gentleman sitting on the booth side very close to our table. I asked the hostess if we could move to a different table so I wasn't sitting on top of this guy. She informs me it's the owner so not to worry he wouldn't be staying he was just visiting with tables. Ok great. Yeah not the case at all for someone who owns a restaurant he is very confused on what is appropriate to discuss in front of other guest or when to stop talking. He talked loudly the entire time about nonsense it was far beyond distracting. Yes granted he may have known these people he was talking too, but I nor my boyfriend really wanted to enjoy breakfast while he explained that his friend had stopped a domestic dispute and another friend who was going to jail. He talked the entire time we were there loudly and the topics were very inappropriate. The waiter was extremely nice and the food was great. But the owner sitting there talking about these topics and for that matter talking the entire time was so rude and distracting. We will be back there as long as he isn't making his rounds talking loudly about everything. read more

Manager lied right to my face. Arrived 15 minutes before the other 2 in my party and asked for a table. It was full so I said I would wait since I was a little early. Host asked when the others would arrive, I said 15 minutes. He said perfect. Tables opened up including a booth but I wasn't seated. Party of 2 came in and asked for a booth which they received. I stood up and said "you gave away my booth, why wasn't I seated " Host replied "we still have a table for you " I told him I would have preferred the booth and I was here first. Once seated at a table I asked the Manager if they had a policy not to seat incomplete parties because it isn't posted anywhere and I wasn't told of this. He said yes, that's policy. I said again that it should be posted or I should've been informed. He walked away. Right after this they sat a party of 2 who were waiting for 2 more. They had come in 10 minutes after I did. They need to all get on the same page as to what they want to do and clearly communicate with customers. Service was slow and food marginal. Too bad lowest rating I could give is 1. read more

A not so good experience today-7/10/18. Around 10:30am my son and I stopped by for some brunch. I like their Grandpa's skillet so I ordered it. When it arrived the potatoes were literally burnt black and hard as a rock. Sent it back. The order that returned the potatoes were nearly raw. When I spoke to the server he said the cook was concerned they would be overcooked again. Sent it back. Nothing worse than under cooked food, Was offered a third chance. I declined. My wife and I eat at this location frequently so I know what the Grandpa's skillet is supposed to be like and is about 95% of the time. We dined here this past Sunday around noon. The place was a zoo and it took a while to get our order but when we did it was perfect. Obviously the cooks from Sunday don't work on Tuesday's. Was given a gift card for $10 bucks as compensation. I would have rather enjoyed what I ordered but instead spent the money at Jack in the box. No complaints about the servers. Always great service. I did give them a chance to redeem themselves and was a good sport about it but after the second blunder it was obvious there was no fixing it or at least no chance with today's cook. We will be back but hope the standards set for Sunday apply any time this location is open for business. Hopefully the owner we met on Sunday will see this review and act accordingly. read more
