The staff was extremely busy and there were so many people waiting for to-go orders. We thought this was a great sign (busy restaurant =great food). However, what we got was a very plain fried rice and overly salty pad Thai. The rice was literally just rice with onions topped with green onion. Granted, it was a huge portion, but the prices here don't seem in-line with the quality or quantity of the food ($17.95 for a plate of pad Thai?!?!). The pad Thai was so salty it was barely edible. The Thai tea was also like drinking pure liquid sugar. Couldn't taste the tea, just plain sugar. Overall, it seems they have a good reputation in town, but as newcomers to the city, it was a pretty big shock. All that said, the counter staff were fairly courteous, despite being super busy. They could probably use an extra staff member or two. Also, they don't serve water, so they charged us for bottled water (which was fine, we understand, but the server didn't tell us they charge for water). Plates and utensils were paper/plastic. For $18 a plate, we hoped for more than picnic supplies. read more

I tried the herb chicken for dinner. This dish comes with three skewers of marinated chicken and, in my case, jasmine rice. I could only eat 1 and a quarter skewers instead of all 3, because the chicken was old and stale. I think the marinade was prepared to hide the rancid flavour of the old chicken. read more

I've been coming here off and on for the three years since I joined the community of Santa Maria. It's been consistently good except now...haha just kidding the food is still on point. If possible my dining experience was lifted up a notch by going out on a limb and ordering the sticky mango rice for dessert. Phenomenal. The mango they used was perfectly ripe, the rice warm and sweet. The restaurant is small but very well set up in seating. Personally I have always enjoyed the window seats and to me it invites you to linger. The gold bags in the appetizer section are a personal favorite. I am also partial to their curry. We went here for dinner (dine-in). It was a tad chaotic, as one of the servers was new and had no clear concept of serving yet. We're patient, so we will give him a pass for now. We could see lots of issues with the take-out orders as well. I did appreciate the vegan options. I would go back for that. I am unclear why they delivered the "dinner set" to me? It was a meat wonton and a fried cheese covered squash? Not vegan. That went into the trash obviously. The more experienced server tried to help, but they really needed a couple of people to run the dining room. Hopefully, they will find their rhythm soon. Not a fan. Came in on Saturday night for dinner with the bf, after 7:30, they were busy, they ended up sitting us at a couch. They told us, "oh it'll be so comfortable, like you're at home" We were hungry, so we said fine, but it seemed they forgot about us. Finally a girl comes and brings us water, ok but what about our order? Then 5 minutes later a different girl tells us to move somewhere else. She didn't grab our menus for us, or carry our waters, it was very odd. As we are looking around, it seems there is only 1 waitress and the rest are bus-girls/drink refillers. Finally the waitress comes and we've been ready for over 30 minutes. Ok, I want som tum (green papaya salad). She proceeds to go on a rant about she can't buy it, and she drove to LA blah blah blah. I am so disappointed. I put my face in my hands, "OMG I can't believe this!!!" She says, ok ok let me check, let me just see. Of course she comes back and says they have ONE LEFT. Really? How did you not know that? How did this one magically appear? Ok fine. The papaya salad was ok, nothing special. For my meal I had a noodle soup with beef--kinda like pho except thicker noodles. It was so salty. I asked her for lime, and it helped a bit, but still not very good. The beef inside was very tender and flavorful, but it was hard to get over the saltiness. So, we stopped coming here years ago because the portion sizes even left 90 year old grandpa hungry when we left... boy how things have changed! Their food is always fresh and delicious! My husband loves the sweet and sour, mixed vegetables, and chow mein. I have tried their noodle soup and it was very flavorful, but I wish it came with the regular 'pho' noodles not their version of flat noodles. They also offer glass, chow mein, and egg noodle but their rice noodle is a flat one. Bit, my go to all time favorite dinner here is the pineapple curry dinner special! Diner beware their spice chart is a little hotter than normal, medium is more on the hotter side and mild is more like medium! No, I have not tried hot...I enjoy my taste buds and esophagus, thank you! If you come here, you must try their shrimp summer rolls! So fresh and full of different fresh flavors! I've had countless summer/spring rolls, none had this variety of flavor in one bite. Plus, their sauces are awesome too... at this point the only down side to Herb Home is the prices. They are on the higher side, but again for a nice fresh meal, it's worth it. Oh, a side note for covid! It is better to call ahead and pay with card over the phone, then pull up by the front door and they will come out ask for your last 4 of your phone number, come back with the receipt that needs signed if you paid with card and your food! Also, their dinner specials are usually 1-2 dollars more than the regular dishes, but you get a salad, two wontons, and usually a fried zuchinni or sweet potato piece. Bathroom outside in back with flusher that gets disconnected from handle so watch out. Food was fine but not anything that stole the show. Nice people. Have a fruity sort of Thai Ice tea on menu which I tried. Not too bad but somewhat pricey with all the ice they add. Sure I'd go again since it was good and service was fine. Green curry and the ginger chicken are spectacular. This place can be a little slow on busy days and nights, but I am a big fan and will continue eating here as often as I can. The owner and chefs care and it really shows. I am a foodie to the hilt and have eaten at starred Michelin restaurants in more than 10 countries. It is the best Thai food in town by miles, however it gets busy so be careful of service wait (however, a busy restaurant is always a good sign for me)... It's a mom and pop family owned restaurant and I get that feel... Also, the portion sizes are average to lower than what I'm used to (that's the only downside)... The food at Herb Home is great but the service is terrible. I come here once or twice a month and every time I wait at least 30-40 minutes for my food. As a paying customer you shouldn't have to flag the waitress down after 10 minutes to ask for water. Want to give this place 4 stars for the food but 2 stars for service. Loved everything we ate except the chicken skewers appetizer. Chicken was very dry. The chicken wings appetizer and the fried wontons were amazing! The wonton soup was delicious although we had to send our bowls back because there were no wontons in them the 1st time they brought them out! I ordered the sweet and sour pork dinner special. It was awesome but the egg fried rice it came with was cold and dry. The dipping sauce for the egg rolls is amazing (as well as the egg rolls). The drinks situation needs improvement. Sodas came in the can at $1.50 and no refill. No drink offering for kids. And the only tea refill they give is Lipton Iced Tea. Definitely go for the food just watch out for the service and make sure you get what you ordered. It's nice to have some new variety in Lompoc. read more

Really good food at great deals ( do a dinner combo meal for $12.99/person, comes with sop or salad, rice, wonton, egg roll and main entree...can't be beat!). I love this place and order take-out here about once a week! The food is really fresh and not greasy, which isn't the case at a lot of Thai restaurants. My favorites: - Green Curry with beef or chicken - Vegetarian spring rolls - Green papaya salad (which is always spicy even if you order it mild) - Bamboo shoots -Flat noodle thingy with beef, broccoli and bean sauce (no idea what it's called but they always seem to know what I mean) I always like to order the brown rice and I can't find this kind of rice anywhere -- it's nutty and reddish in color and delicious -- but you have to ask for it instead of white. This place is legit, so if you say spicy it will burn your head off (and I put siracha on everything), so I order medium or mild and get the extra spice on the side. They have fish sauce with thai chiles and if you put a little of this on your food it will blow your mind! So make sure to ask for water too! You can bring in your own wine too for a $5 corkage, so all you Wine Ghetto visitors from LA pissed off that Lompoc doesn't have good food, head to Herb Home with a bottle of Palmina Malvasia Bianca (or anything from the wine ghetto since they all rock), RELAX (service can be a little slow so just chill out and drink), and prepare to be blown away for a third of what it costs at a fancy restaurant. read more
