Great place found quite by accident. I booked it for a rehearsal dinner. We had the upstairs private room for 20 people. Food was wonderful. We had the Pot Roast, Fried Chicken and Sea Bass followed by carrott cakes and a flourless chocolate cake. Everyone was very happy with their meals. The owner Michael was easy to work with and the wait staff was friendly, accomodating and professional. Good food, good atmosphere, pricing was reasonable. We live out of state so I may not get back there often but I highly recommend you check out this restaurant for both its food and charm. read more

On a trip in the area, there really weren't great looking options for lunch but we stumbled upon Heritage 495 and I am happy we did. The food was great, the restaurant was cute and recently redone inside. We started with the olive appetizer which had a good variety of tasty olives. I ordered the crab pot pie as a starter, which was delicious. Perfect crust, great crab throughout with a delicious creamy soup inside. Finished up with the burger which was also really good - vermont cheddar was the perfect compliment and the brioche bun was amazing. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Tucked away off the main roadway, Heritage 485 is an amazing find! After a long day of adventure, my 4 dinner companions and I felt spoiled by our very knowledgeable waitress Jennifer H. She spent extra time detailing items we may enjoy on the unique menu. Cornbread dipped in their house infused olive oil made quite a mark on our palates prior to being delivered our culinary masterpiece entrees. My compliments to the chef for his great pairings of flavor. My Crab pot pie was a mix of genius and two delicious things (cream of crab soup meets a home cooked pot pie.) Yummmmmmm! We had a parting gift of an individually packaged chocolate chip cookie that everyone agreed was the best cookie they have ever had. Went in on Valentine's day and this weekend and had great meals! The service shined from the first counter at the door. Our hostess, Sofie was gracious and accommodating. She was busy, but made sure each guest was cared for even after her job with them was done. Old country house tastefully refurbished with a mix of old and new inside. Hardwood floors and frames, with comfy chairs in the lounge make for a relaxing setting to a yummy brunch. We had one steak and eggs breakfast and one Heritage house breakfast with eggs and a meat, eggs done your way and a side of hash browns. I had soft scrambled buttery eggs that didn't need any additions with the tender and juicy steak and well seasoned hash browns with sautéed peppers and onions (not overwhelming) mixed in. There was also a fresh squeezed OJ, good juice but it tasted a little strong of the rind. And a mimosa (taking a pause)... this was exactly like a mimosa should be, delicious . Amazing dinner tonight for our first time here! My boys' burgers were juicy and full of flavor. My bolognese was simple, fresh and wonderful! My husband got the pot roast, which I would seriously consider next time. Save room for dessert! I never like bread pudding, but we all decided it was our favorite dessert, even though the others were really good! Let me start by saying this place is top notch from the beautiful decorative lighting to the personal touch of the manager on duty stopping by our table telling us a story and inquiring why we came. Personal touch A++++. The warm home made bread with the olive oil was a good start. The lobster roll was very tasty and the presentation was on point. Richard was our waiter and he was so attentive to us - we felt he was our personal butler. I ordered the vegetable korma and my husband had the pork chop, both were absolutely delicious. This is such a rare gem to be found in Southern Maryland with a great atomspere and one of a kind menu. Extensive bar offerings were a welcome surprise. My husband and I came here for dinner and had a great meal and experience. The breads with olive oil they give you to start were so good! He started with the crab pot pie and I started with the wedge salad. Both were very tasty. The crust on the crab pot pie was delicious, light and crispy. The wedge salad comes with crispy pork belly, delicious. For dinner I had the diver scallops and he had the teres major. My scallops came with quinoa, mushrooms and butter nut squash. The scallops were just a tad overdone but overall it was very delicious. My husband seemed to really enjoy his steak with brussel sprouts and sweet potato purée. For dessert we had the chocolate creme brûlée. Over all everything was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was very satisfying. I look forward to going back. read more

My husband and I took my mother out for an early Mother's Day meal and Heritage 485 didn't disappoint. The old-modern ambiance draws you in and reintroduces the art of dining. It was upscale casual but not stuffy nor pretentious. Food was accessibly priced. The bread basket had both a cake-like spongey corn bread and a savory sea salted focaccia-- both divine. House made cheese plate, seasoned to perfection, followed with a malbec for the table. Entrees that we ordered included the crab pot pie, bolognese, along with pea mint soup and eggplant manicotti. Each dish was thoughtfully constructed, portioned and presented. I'm a vegetarian and found that there were several vegetarian and vegan options which is a nice addition to Calvert's food landscape. If I could give the restaurant 10 stars I would because the 5 allowed here just doesn't do it justice. read more

I had the steak and eggs -- 3 well-prepared scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked steak, and home fries just the way I like them: nicely browned and crisp. Coffee was great and each refill was in a fresh cup. My wife has the Heritage Breakfast -- 3 eggs (scrambled in her case), crisp bacon, home fries, and brioche toast. All delicious. We almost didn't get in. There was no seating available but we could sit outside. It was a nice night so we decided to go for it. By the time we finished, I was sure I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes but I didn't get a single bite. Funny that the server asked us if we wanted the fan turned on just before we left - that would've been great when we first got out there but it was fine. I started with the Crab Pot Pie. I'd come back just for that. I LOVED it! It's super silky and rich with a wonderful, subtle crab flavor and a decent amount of blue crab. Yum! My partner got the Wedge Salad and cleaned the bowl (literally - with the focaccia bread for the table). For dinner, I got the Shellfish Hot Pot. The seafood was wonderful but I think I would've enjoyed it more either without the rice (like a Cioppino) or maybe with pasta. The rice really soaked up the broth making it thick like a paella. My partner got the Heritage Fried Chicken. The chicken itself was super salty and overly fried to the point that it was hard to chew because it was so dry. A really disappointment. The mashed were cold and the collards were good but again too salty. We'll come back for the Pot Pie and maybe try some other items on the menu. read more

The crab cake was good but the fried green tomato was even better. We also had the scallops which were good. We ordered top sirloin steak also which was good. Went on a Sunday early evening with a group of 4. This was our first time trying. I have heard many conversations about this place and was excited to try it! It's a rather unique place, I didn't look around much but I would go back again. When you walk in and look to the right there was a little room with a couple of tables. Then to the left there was a room with one larger table for a bigger party, and then back and to the right was the bar. A few low tables with comfy chairs, a couple of high tops and then the bar seating of course. We sat in the bar at a high top table. Server was really nice and he had a lot of character. My party ordered a couple of their cocktails- sangria blanco, perfect pear, barrel aged old fashioned and heritage forest fire. The drinks were good and well presented. My husband got a Stella- nothing to report here as they all taste the same. When we went on this Sunday they were doing a half off crab anything. My husband and I split the crab Mac and cheese. This was super cheesy! Came in a cute little pot- super hot. The other couple ordered the octopus with potatoes and corn. They said it was sooo good! The menu had a variety of items, not too terribly priced. I would return for happy hour and possibly dinner if I'm in the area again. My only gripe was that it was horribly hot outside this day and unfortunately their ac was not working as it should so we were using the little happy hour menus as fans, but good company makes anything better. read more

I'm writing to mention several things about our evening. The food was outstanding. My dish was probably one of the best versions of shrimp and grits I have ever eaten. Everyone enjoyed their meals, drinks, and desserts very much. Service was excellent. We are a group of friends, up to 16 (tonight we were 9) that have been eating dinner together every Thursday night for about five years. We won't be returning to your restaurant because of your policy of no separate checks. It was not negotiable with the waiter...at all. I asked the bartender if he could check to see if we could have three single checks and three checks for three couples. I left the conversation with the hope that he would see what could be done. I belong to another group of yoga friends who go to Sunday brunch together once a month. Our favorite place is your restaurant and we are always seated in the room to the left as you enter the front door to the restaurant. We always, always have separate checks. No problem. We usually have the same waiter. I'm going to recommend the friend who makes our reservation to not return for our brunch get-togethers because of our experience tonight. Imagine this scenario: three single people come to the restaurant separately and are seated, orders taken and are served. Three separate checks. At the same time, three couples enter, orders taken and are served. Three separate checks. Assume it's the same waitstaff. Why is that any more or less work than accommodating our group tonight? Or imagine this scenario: we received our check as we did tonight, one check for around $350. We each had a piece of paper on which we wrote what amount our meal cost and included our credit cards. Mine was $23 to be charged on my American Express card. Each of the other individuals and the other three couples followed suit. We handed the waiter our papers with our credit cards along with the bill. Our friend decided to pay the entire amount and would figure out what each of us owed her at a later date. I wished I had asked the waiter for six pieces of paper and six pens so that we could have turned the responsibility of paying to the waiter. Is there a fear of the waitstaff not getting 20% gratuity? We are very generous and don't think twice about tipping our servers well. I tip 20-25% after tax. I know how much work it is to serve people and how much work it is to cook as well as I used to be a sous chef in a restaurant on the Eastern Shore of MD (Oxford). We were really excited that a new, non chained restaurant opened in Prince Frederick. I would strongly recommend reservations as there is not a lot of seating. This place is amazing. Exceptional food and atmosphere. There was five at our table an our orders ranged from the pork tenderloin to rockfish to the heritage burger to ravioli. We all loved our meals. Service was great and very attentive. There is not a large menu but what they have they do it very well. Can't wait to go back and try more. read more

I hosted my husband's 40th birthday party in the second floor party room and it was awesome. Mike the owner was responsive, attentive and flexible with the planning. I told him what I wanted and he and his team made it happen. The staff went up and down stairs for a 3 hour 30 person dinner party.
