I love this spot. Great atmosphere, modern yet rustic feel. Very friendly and polite staff. Good drink menu plus a happy hour! Jason makes a great Old Fashioned and this cucumber mule, he is so friendly and such a nice bartender. The food is delicious and the menu has a nice wide variety of options with unique touches to each dish. The food always comes out cooked perfectly, I've never had something dry or over/under cooked. Terrible. Not sure why this place gets any good reviews. Besides being located in a very quaint house that is where it begins and ends. To be fair we showed up before the dinner rush with no reservations. They put us at the bar which was fine. Took 10 mins for the server to come over. We ordered drinks. They brought two of the three over and we waited another 5 for the third and that was after we had to remind them. Without going into the minute details all three items on the menu we ordered we just plain bad. Had to wait ten minutes for the check and again had to go to them with the card. Avoid! read more

Whenever we have something special to celebrate we head to Heritage 485. The cocktails are fantastic! We've had numerous visits to Heritage whether it be for lunch or dinner and it is always delicious. I've heard they offer a Sunday brunch that is to die for, but haven't tried it myself yet. It has a 4.5 star review but in my opinion does not deserve that high score unless you just eat a few things. I got this from a friend who brought it over for a mask gathering. It seems like he got a wide variety of options and we got to taste them all. I will start with the two worst main courses- gnocchis and mahi. The gnocchi was way too peppery and the mahi was way to salty. It all most tasted like the pepper and salt top fell off while they were making. Both of these dishes deserve nothing more than two stars as the sides were pretty good but the main course was wow that is not good! On to the more pleasing items - the crab pot pie is amazing. Easily 5 stars. The crab cake is also delicious and was probably 4 stars. The rest was mediocre at 3 stars. I asked him how much it cost, and he said it was around $100 so for the two amazing dishes and the rest just ok I do not think it is 4.5 stars. read more

Happened upon this charming and very hospitable restaurant expecting cold beverages, tasty food and a resting stop on our way back from a craft show in Dowell. My expectations were far surpassed with a very deep mesquite smoked brisket on brioche, old bay & buttermilk ranch wings and pickles that had the most sweet, savory, yet super crunchy texture. Blown away with food service, friendliness of staff, history of building was very cool as it is a historic landmark and very reasonable pricing. For years it was great. Used to be our standard "end of the week" place to celebrate. Things took a bad turn when Arron left. Food stayed consistent but, service went through the floor. We just left from our 3rd (and last) "last chance". We got there, standing in the lobby and the receptionist asked that I remove my hat "when we get to the dining area". I thought "Sure! where are you on chewing with your mouth closed and covering your mouth when you cough?". She seated us at a table that wobbled and asked if we would like it fixed (really?). The the waiter brought water then left for near 10 minutes. Another waiter came by and asked if we'd like a drink. Then the original waiter brought our drinks and a menu. We ordered and he brought our appetizers before the house bread. After dinner My wife asked for desert with berries on the side. He came back and said "we can't put berries on your brownie (she didn't ask for that). Used to be very nice AND great food. Now just great food and horrible service. We are done. read more

What a great addition to Southern Maryland! This was our second visit and we will be back. The wings are superb- and I usually don't care about wings. We loved the pasta and shrimp and grits and the wedge salad was fabulous with the grilled tomatoes. We finished with a great creme brulee, and enjoyed a great complimentary cookie on the way out! This may be the best restaurant in Prince Frederick right now. The redecorating of the white house is really unique with a mix of rustic and modern. To start, we shared the delicious mussels in a well developed broth of roasted garlic and leeks. Along with the fabulous focochia, the accompanying grilled bread sopped up every bit a broth allowed. Next up was the crab pot pie. Why hasn't anyone put this on a menu before?! It was soooo good. Chunks of crab meat, perfectly diced veggies and puffy puff pastry. Best dish of the night. YUM! The wedge salad was okay. I'm a huge fan of pork belly, but this was a little more like chunks of ham. Onto the lamb ragout which was very good, but it really​ need a pinch of salt. The lamb was super tender and the gnocchi we're like pillows at a 5 star resort. We also shared the scallops over black lentils with bacon and asparagus which was our second favorite dish. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the entire dish was just delicious. Although we were stuffed to the gills, we managed to devour the chocolate creme brulee with hazelnuts that was a delightful ending to my husband's birthday meal. What a find in Calvert County! We were craving brunch but dreaded making the drive to DC. A quick google search brought us here and Sunday Brunch will never be the same. My husband ordered the smoked salmon platter with hard eggs and potatoes. The salmon melted in our mouths (of course i had to sample it!) and was plentiful. I ordered eggs Benedict with pork belly and home fries. When I say these were the most flavorful potatoes I've ever had I am not even kidding. A kick of spice with onions and perfectly crisp, these home fries were delicious. We are already planning when to come back for dinner! read more

A creative menu with fresh ingredients and an attentive staff/owner chef. My wife and I started our meal with the oysters (loved the chili's and gin added in just the right amounts) and the poutine(a must since my wife is from the northern Midwest). My wife said the poutine was lacking the "squeaky cheese" curds, but still quite yummy. Our entrees were the Arctic char for me and the scallops for her. Both dishes were meticulously prepared and oh so delicious. A nice beer selection and a staff that was impressively friendly and efficient added to our wonderful experience. The pricing wasn't terrible either. An equivalent meal in Annapolis, DC or Baltimore would probably be 25-35% more expensive. read more

I just walked into another dimension We were in the area and looking for a place to eat so a quick online search after we found Heritage 485 and decided to give it a try. This place has hands down the best food, service, presentation, menu variety, fair prices in Southern Maryland!! From the start to the time we left, everybody was so attentive that I thought I was on a different planet... The waitress brought bread (foccacia) that is baked in-house and oh my, was that thing good. We then ordered the wedge salad with a pork belly that melts in your mouth, a pork tenderloin entree and the burger. All so good that I got a little sad to finish it. Their drinks look very interesting as well. I can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu. We are so glad we chose to try this! read more

Stumbled upon Heritage 485 last evening and we left saying we'd be back! What a great first impression. We sat in the Lounge and thanks to Kasey, we had a wonderful experience. She took great care in making sure we made just the right selections. That's a bit misleading in that she said we really couldn't go wrong. And, she was right. We started off with cocktails and selected chicken and biscuits and catfish fingers to accompany our first round. Entrees included the Filet, Scallops and Crab Pot Pie -- fine, fine choices! Fresh, piping hot and the presentation was delightful. We decided to 'share' a couple of deserts opting for the French Toast Bread Pudding and Parsnip Cake with cream cheese icing. I had the salmon, over cooked. For the price it was not anything I would order again. There was a metal crock of white beans on the side and they were kinda hard and undercooked. My daughter in law had the gnocchi which was excellent. My daughter paid $29.00 for her meal and it had three scallops. The shrimp over pasta and crab cakes looked great. Wonderful young waiter, wonder ambience and decor, also the hostess was wonderful and my family LOVED the cookies they were given in n the way out the door. Heritage is a welcome addition to the Calvert County restaurant scene in general and the Prince Frederick area in particular. I've recently started using the rating system of a friend, in case you were wondering about how many stars a review generates. Three stars mean I'd go back. Four stars mean I'd go out of my way to eat here, and five stars mean I'd love to eat here all the time. Dined here recently on a Saturday evening (with reservations) and were met at the front door and seated promptly. The service was very attentive and the food was very good, on a par with CD Café and better than Dry-dock, IMHO. Our waiter brought a basket containing fresh focaccia and corn bread, both of which he said were made on premises. We shared the Octopus appetizer and tried the Lamb Ragout and the Scallops over black lentils. All three dishes were tasty and well presented. Overall, this is a very good restaurant with surprising value and we hope they are successful and will be here for years to come. read more
