Decided to go to Heska since King Arthur Restaurant was closed due to staff shortage. My mother and I decided to try out this restaurant since it had pretty good reviews. BIG mistake the food was awful looks like they used hot buns in place of real bread we had to keep asking for more refills on the coffee we asked for more jelly for our toast and she was scraping the bottom of the jar. We stopped at Heska's with the family and each ordered a different sandwich and a round of Italian sodas, which was full of the aforementioned substance and highly delicious because of it. The reuben was savory and not very overloaded with ingredients. My wife ordered a turkey avocado and reported that it was delicious. The sprouts were an unexpected ingredient (and somewhat polarizing at the table, so be forewarned). In a nice touch, each bread roll is branded "Heskas" so that you can have no doubt from whence the sandwich comes. The atmosphere was cozy, like a house full of antiques with a clipper ship over the fireplace. The husband and wife owners were very friendly and helpful, a good team. He got home and realized he was overcharged by around $8 and when he called, the lady working there claims he was "only" overcharged by $1.05. On top of this, the bread on the sandwiches was stale and the pickle they gave me had multiple hairs on it like it was dropped. Womp womp. Looking to spend around $9 bucks. The very first time I came here. Service was very quick (it was on Sunday) Next visit (which was Saturday), I believe we had to wait at least 20 mins. This sandwich shop is a hidden gem. They bake their bread fresh daily and have so many sandwich options. The potato salad is homemade by the owner and is so good. Coming home from Big Bear Mountain and starving after a morning session of snowboarding. I was explicitly hungry. Yelped Heska and decided to check it out. Small little mom n pop style restaurant, where they served sandwiches, salads and other small simple dishes. I ordered the Tuna Melt, at 1st glance, it looks okay and based on how hungry I was, I could eat cardboard and it would still be delicious. 1st bite, it was far from cardboard.....it was one of the most amazing bread I have ever tasted! (yes it was carbs too). The Tuna Melt hit the spot and like the movie "gone in 60 seconds". My friends were also pleased with their sandwiches and we were too hungry to share with each other haha Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Their current location is amazing, they've basically turned a house into their restaurant, it's so cool. I got the double pastrami and a bag of chips, and the sandwich was fantastic. The bread they use is ridiculously soft, and the pastrami is super flavorful. Not to mention it's reasonably priced. What an adorable, cool spot for food! The owner took our order, quickly taking note of all of our substitutions and requests. I got a sandwich and salad combination with a drink for $8.40. Walking around to pick a table to eat, I noticed the place looks like a house! It's decorated cozy, with a fireplace in one room, records and a record player in another, and paintings of ships all over the place. Check out the pictures and you'll get the idea. The food came quickly and it was perfect. The bread, homemade, had a soft texture and great flavor. My Greek side salad came with plenty of feta cheese, olives, raisins, and just the right amount of dressing. The soup everyone else was eating looked homemade and comforting too. Came in here while in the Redlands/Riverside area on business and a friend works here. It's a quaint little deli shop with many little nooks and rooms to hide out in and work on anything requiring internet because of the free wifi. The sandwich was tasty and a good size and the coffee was alright. I have to have soy milk and so I'm not usually the best person to judge the coffee taste with due to that major difference. However, my yin yang mocha was pretty good. It's a bit difficult to find because the signage isn't the best, however just look for the brightly colored building and you're good. The soup wasn't the amazing, but not terrible either. It was just the right thing for a rainy day.
