The inside of this place was super cool. Very bright and lots of places to sit. You order at the counter and pick up your order when it's ready. We saw pictures of this online and needed to try it. Unfortunately, the pictures are better than it tastes. The serving size was huge, but the problem was the mango. It tasted like it was pre frozen, which sucks because mango is not one of the fruits that taste as good frozen as it does fresh. The shaved ice was a nice texture, but it was hard for us to eat the frozen mango. If it was fresh this dessert wouldve been amazing.
This was a gorgeous cafe. The decor is so cute and pink. It's open late. The bingsu was massive. Peach boba had large slices of fruit. I had a fun time here and will return. We need more cafes that stay open late.

The restaurant is very clean, the staff is attentive and helpful. They have restroom for customers to use. Accepts cash or card.
Absolutely love this place! It was a bit loud when my friend and I went, and we had to wait on line for a bit because there was so many people. But I'd absolutely go again. There are sooo many food options; too much to try in one visit. From Hotteok to croffles to bubble tea/boba to ramyun to all kinds of other desserts, it was hard to decide what to order. The place itself was clean and brightly lit, and it even has a giant boba in the back for great photo ops! We ended up ordering Aurora Sunset and Aurora Lemon Lychee. They were both beautiful to look at and tasted great. Unfortunately we were full from eating food right before going, but will definitely come back with an empty stomach to try a lot more.
After dinner, my friend and I came by here for some desserts. We decided on sharing the Strawberry Croffle ($10.95) and Brown Sugar Bubble Ice Cream ($5.95). You get a pager when your order is ready while we grabbed a table in the back. The space is super spacious, so great for groups. The croffle wasn't my favorite as the waffle tasted hard like it was refrigerated. It was a bit tough to cut into as well. While pretty, it wasn't that tasty. On the other hand, I enjoyed the ice cream, which reminded me of Asia. The ice cream was milky and creamy with a nice sweetness from the brown sugar.

Since it was a Monday afternoon, the place was fairly quiet, and many seats were available. One unique feature is that the cafe sells noodle packs, which you can cook yourself near the counter--a fun touch! I ordered the sea salt coffee, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. It seems like the cafe leans more towards desserts and bubble tea, so perhaps that's where its strength lies. Overall, it's a great spot to hang out, especially with the second floor featuring two large screens playing K-pop music videos.

Decided to go with strawberry banana and it was pretty good. Looks just like the display. It came out quick too. A bit pricey at $10 something per croffle and came out to $11 after tax. The space is pretty big, lots of tables and there's an upstairs area. They have a ramen station, and other desserts like ice cream, snowflake (shaved ice), boba drinks, tiramisu, small cakes.
A new spot with a ton of drink options, shaved ice and desserts, and even ramen and some savory treats! I like this spot cause they have many seating options - so while the line may be long, make sure to find a seat first and then order. The strawberry shaved iced is sweet and perfect to cool you down for this summer wave. I'd like to come back and try their croffles, which they have both sweet and savory options (including a special ham and cheese option for breakfast).

Desserts and drinks after work with some colleagues on a friday evening. I always walk by here and peek through the windows but never went in until now. We shared mango bingsu (mango snowflake) and the cheese coin. We were not expecting vanilla ice cream ontop of the bingsu which was nice. They had estimated 30-40min to make/assemble the bingsu but it was faster than that. I really enjoyed the mango- very ripe. Cheesy coin is best eaten while hot for that cheese pull. I saw someone made instant ramen using those machines and that was cool. Lots of good drinks and seems like the place to be. Lots of people come here and we were lucky to find a table. Everything is order and picked up at the counter when your order number (remote buzzed). We didn't stay too long as it got crowded and more people looking for tables. When we were done, we left for another big group to sit.
I would rate it 3.5 stars. The watermelon slush was very good and refreshing while the coconut milk tea we ordered was way too sweet even though I asked for less sweetness. The coconut milk tea drink also does not automatically come with jelly so you need to buy it as an add on despite the advertising photo showing them together. Skip the coconut milk tea drink because there was also no tea flavor, it just tasted like really sweet coconut milk. I do appreciate that in packed ktown, the shop is large enough that there is a lot of seating available. Service can be slow depending on how busy the place is. This place can get very packed and busy depending on the day.
I walked in here because Grace Street looked crowded, and it was late, so many cafes were closed already. It was a little overwhelming how expansive the menu was. I was just stopping by before dinner, so I didn't want to get too much. For my drink, I ordered the sea salt cream latte because that looked like maybe the least sweet drink after the Americano. Alas, the drink was still very sweet. But not unpleasant! The salt in the cream really helped balance out the sweetness. The coffee tasted pretty good, not knock-your-socks-off rich and complex, but still pretty good. After contemplating the $4 yakgwa and the pie pastry taiyaki (why can't we have had the regular boongeobbang???) I settled for the hotteok. The server kindly suggested that I wait a bit for the pastry to cool down so as not to scald myself with the hot cinnamon sugar goo inside. The hotteok was the dry, almost baked kind that seems to plague New York. I want heft in my hotteok. The dough tasted a little bit like sourdough, though I imagine this was not really intentional but just overproofed. It worked, though. The filling cooled down pretty quickly, but the slightly sour taste also helped cut through the sweetness. I switched my seat several times while I was there, mostly looking for a place where I could rest my back. I truly hate the step seating, but they did have cushions and little tables to help make it bearable. The upstairs lounge-y area with the screens was a bit intimidating, but I was able to lean up against the wall. I would visit again during warmer seasons to try the shaved ice served in sinseollo, as it looked so fun and interesting!

Anyways, came after dinner and the ordering process was smooth and quick, there was plenty of cute seating - think geometric and mismatched shapes. It was interesting how many people were there treating the location like a cafe and doing their work. I ordered the Brown Sugar Ice Cream and it was actually so good. The ice cream had a strong milky texture to it and they put a lot of brown sugar syrup inside so with each spoonful you could really taste both the ice cream and brown sugar. I didn't really mind the boba although they were definitely a lot bigger than what you would normally have in a drink. Overall, loved the Ice Cream and will definitely be back to try more of their other desserts.
Ambiance: 5 stars Food & drinks: 3 stars This cafe was a great spot for whether you're looking to work, kill some time, hang out with friends, or even group meetups. When it first opened, I thought it was a nice alternative option to the older, large dessert cafe across the street. IYKYK What I love: - Huge space with various styles of seating: lots of comfortable lounge-type seats & tables on ground & upper level w/ changing pastel lights for calm mood; stadium-style seats & tables; standing-only table, & even benches at the front w/ small side tables to hang. - Wifi for guests - 2 single-person bathrooms Huge drink menu with milk teas, fruit teas, sparkling drinks, & coffee. Soft serve vanilla w/ lots of topping options like boba, brown sugar, & fruit. I usually got drinks but occasionally food like a croffle. While many drinks look pretty (like Aurora drinks), the flavor was mediocre. Same for the food, although I never tried their snow flake bingsoo or hwachae because they were too big. They even added instant ramen machines to offer more options & seemed to be popular. For me, the ambiance balanced out the average food & drinks. Other nearby cafes are smaller, have no wifi, and less comfortable seats. Surprised when I saw the windows covered up w/ paper but no signs or info on social. I hoped it was a temporary closing, but I just saw an ad yesterday in the window that a seafood boil restaurant will be taking over the space. read more

Nice interior with a lot of dessert and drinks options. However, everything is overpriced and quality does not meet the expectations. Drinks tasted like just sugar and water, with no flavor. It's a good place to chill, but the drinks need improvement. read more
Ate in 2024: I got their vanilla soft serve with mango and this was soooooo good. Oh my god, the ice cream texture was not too sweet, kind of icy, and not super milky which made me feel so nostalgic because I think I had something like this before back in Thailand. Sad that this place is closed now though, I never got to visit it a second time :( read more

Although on the pricier side, the drinks and dessert here are good! The first time I went to HHD was in Korea, and I wanted to try it when I saw it opened in NYC! The Mango Flake Ice does have a lot of mangoes, and the fruit tastes ripe and fresh. The ratio of ice to fruit is perfect, and the soft serve is creamy. The Aurora Mango Milk was like the drinkable, on-the-go version of the Mango Milk Ice. I personally wouldn't order it again due to its price, unless I'm really craving mango ice and need to take it to go. Although it usually is pretty packed, I always manage to find some seating with my party. The wait in line does go pretty quick, and there's not an unreasonable wait for your order! read more

The space is huge and there's plenty of seating if you come with friends, AND there's an upstairs area. Their menu is extensive, and in addition to boba they have a bunch of other dessert options including waffles and cakes among other things. We ordered: Matcha Strawberry Latte (3.6/5), Brown Sugar Bubble Milk with Cream (4.7/5) I ended up on the Matcha Strawberry Latte and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It's a chunky drink, with the strawberries eating like a topping rather than a flavoring. I couldn't tell if they were real or dried, but either way they tasted good with the matcha, which did taste somewhat old I am not going to lie. The matcha also, interestingly enough, thickened somehow? I don't know if that's (1) safe or (2) sustainable, but it at least made for a different drinking experience! The boba were firm (yay) but not chewy (nay). So pretty much when you bite into these, you bite right through the boba. These boba balls also seemed like they were larger than normal? I don't know what GMO boba they had, but it was like the size that boba gets when you put your drink in the fridge and they absorb some liquid. So, again, the vibe was just old. It was like I was drinking an old drink. I will say though that my friend did enjoy the brown sugar drink she got, so it might just be a matter of inconsistency. OH also to note is that the entire place smelled like pee? Not sure what's going on with their plumbing, but we had to move tables from closer to the bathroom to closer to the front door. We sat on the top of their bleacher-like seating, and we could still smell bathroom from there. What's going on there. read more

Located in the heart of ktown, you can expect this spot to always be PACKED. There's a huge variety of sweets, from drinks to desserts, as well as a recently added ramen station for the savory cravings. I came twice and the first time, my friends and I shared the Mango Berry Snowflake, which was enough for 4 people. We also tried the Green Grape Croffle which was fine, but nothing special. The second time I came, I ordered the Mango Ice Cream for an individual dessert and it was definitely very rich and creamy. The mango syrup and topping were both very good and complimented the vanilla ice cream very well! The only con of this spot is the ambiance and crowdedness. There's ample seating, however it's constantly packed and the wait time for your order could be ~15 min during popular times. The spot stays open pretty late, which is fitting for the area + good for those finishing a late dinner. read more
Amazing shave ice; we loved the mango berry snowflake which was fresh fruit over cream shave ice with the perrrfect consistency! It came perfectly chilly with a side of mango jelly, strawberry jelly, and soft serve to add (or eat separately if desired). I found the $20 price tag steep but worth it given how easily accessible it was for us in the already overpriced Chelsea area! The boba brown sugar soft serve was also amazing, comes exactly as billed with a thin/runny sauce and some boba on top. They have a nice selection of mochi ice cream including black sesame, passion fruit, chocolate, and strawberry for 4/$10. Only negative is stools with no backs for seating. Will be back! read more

Cute and popular cafe in koreatown. There is decent amount of seating on both the first floor and second floor and when you get your order, there is a lifesize bubble tea statue that you can take pictures of. I would say HHD has some good croffles, although pricey, I think its pretty worth it for a once in a while snack. There is a good variety in what you can order, and they usually have new items to try seasonally too. I think their drinks are beautiful and unique, though I would come here more so for the food instead. I got the strawberry and banana croffle which was pretty tasty! Good place to come sit and hang out with friends for a quick chat. read more

Cute desserts and drinks with an interesting atmosphere. All the croffles are overpriced besides the OG one. Drinks are creative and aesthetic but also on the pricey side. Will have to try the bingsu next time. The interior was strange and felt like an unfinished basement. Not cozy or comfortable. I think the vibe at Grace St is more welcoming and will probably outlast this place. read more

Heuk Hwa Dang is located in busy ktown and fairly new. My friends and I love dessert so we definitely wanted to check out Heuk Hwa Dang. Once you walk in, it smells wonderful and it is bright and inviting. As you head on back, you'll see two floors of seating. On the first floor, there are stadium seating and tables with movable chairs. You can't miss a photo opportunity with a huge bubble tea. The menu offers ice cream, snow flake which is shaved iced or bingsoo, croffle, crakers with filling, and refreshing drinks. My friends and I ordered the Mango Berry Snow Flake. After ordering, we waited a few minutes for our buzzer to go off. This was great to share among 3 people. The mango and strawberry tasted fresh. The soft serve in the middle was a nice add too. I want to come back to try their drinks and ice cream with boba. It was nice to hangout at Heuk Hwa Dang and enjoy our dessert. read more
Came here with a friend for post-dinner dessert. A short line, enough time for us to browse the menu. Huge variety of sweets (but not too sweet of course) and drinks. Order, ~try~ to find a spot to sit, and wait for the buzzer to alert when your dessert is ready. We found seats upstairs, albeit a bit sticky, but seating nevertheless. Feels futuristic, with kpop music videos plastered across the walls with music that doesn't match blaring in the background. The walls/screens were a bit distracting while we sat, bright LEDs almost ushering you out. We split the mango berry shave ice which was (surprise surprise) very sizable between two people - better for 3-4 people. The mangos were sweet, but the strawberries had little flavor. Soft serve on top was tasty, and the popping pearls on the side were a nice burst of artificial sweetness between bites. Overall, another dessert spot in K-Town. Sticky seating (if you could find it), pretty standard shave ice, and sub-standard strawberries. read more
Came in with a group on a Sunday to hide from the rain, and I enjoyed the experience! There were some people but not super crowded at this time, it only took around 10 minutes after ordering for our food/drinks to be ready. There was plenty of seating available in the general seating area. A highlight for me was the cool ambient lighting coming from the walls, I think they made the photos look super cool! I was a bit rushed since I had a show to catch right after so I left my group a bit early, but I think this place would have been awesome for some fun group photos. There was also a huge boba statue near the counter that was a great photo op. Definitely regret not taking our time here to get in all the pics we wanted! The food and drink itself were pretty good, no complaints! The croffle is basically a croissant compressed into a waffle with the topping of your choice. I thought it was quite cute and tasted pretty good with the beverage. There's nothing like this where I live so I was happy to have come here during my NYC visit. Definitely would recommend for a sweet pick-me-up and fun ambient vibes! read more
Arrived here around 3 pm on a Monday afternoon for a sweet treat to recharge from the workday. Spacious interior with a second floor with tv screen streaming music videos. Decorated walls with their fruit/milk teas and snacks! Bright, clean, and friendly staff. There wasn't much of a line when I walked in so I ordered their brown sugar milk tea with cream and their strawberry banana croffle to go. The drink was still warm when they handed it to me! Great texture, fresh pearls, brown sugar done right! Awesome flavors and complimented the croffle. The fruits were so ripe and fresh and sweet. The texture was dense for sure, but so delicious with the cream on top. Definitely a boba shop to hit up! read more

We wanted to find a place with spacious seating to grab a drink and chat and happened to pass by Heuk Hwa Dang, located along the main strip of Ktown. The menu is quite extensive and we ended up ordering the Aurora Lemon Lychee with Popping Boba and Aurora Sunset with Crystal Boba. Neither drink looked even close to the pictures and just looked like a very watered down drink. Although we both ordered our drink less sweet, it just tasted like straight sugar water. Not sure what flavors either drink was going for and we were pretty underwhelmed. Next time it'd be more worth it to just grab a drink to-go from somewhere else and find another place to sit. They also offer foods and other desserts so can't comment on those, but definitely better places to get boba. read more
My friend and I went here for some drinks/dessert, and we opted to share a large Aurora sunset which comes with crystal boba. It was fairly busy so it was about a 10 min wait to order, but the drink does come fairly quickly subsequently after. There is plenty of seating spread across 2 floors, with plenty of side by side seating which is perfect for a casual date. The Aurora sunset is a fruity drink with some carbonation, and it was fairly refreshing. The bounciness of the crystal boba is spot on. It is also fairly Instagrammable, with butterfly pea on top for the color gradient. A miss is that we requested less ice and less sugar but the drink is still crazy sweet and upon finishing the drink, the drink actually had regular ice. They might have mixed up the order along the way, but they should have taken note of the different customization levels, given that this drink is one of the top 10 ordered items in this place. read more
There was so much mango in this pot! It was amazing. I prefer this shaved ice over places nearby! This was really tasty to share. It was self aerobics so there's not much service to speak of. It was loud because there was a lot of people so it was hard to have a conversation. read more
Came here to hang with some friends and was surprised by the interior. The space opens up quite a bit, with seating both in the back and upstairs. There's a lot of desserts and sweets, and it's a more chill hangout spot with good vibes, almost feeling like a casual cafe. I got the Earl grey boba soft serve, and I was quite confused about it when it arrived. I was expecting earl grey ice cream, but instead it was a milk soft serve with Earl grey on the side. I spent a bit trying to figure out how to eat it, first by dipping the soft serve in the tea, then slowly pouring the tea into the soft serve. The latter definitely made more sense, and it worked well once I ate the top of the soft serve to open a hole. It was tasty but definitely a bit confusing and unintuitive. (Overall: D) - Located in the heart of Koreatown, this dessert shop has quite a large space to sit and hang out with friends. Unfortunately, this nice atmosphere and diverse dessert options are undermined by the numerous technical flaws exhibited in the food. (Jasmine Flower Tea: D) - I ordered this drink because it was on the top 10 but I am genuinely confused why this would be highly rated. I ordered their drink as less sweet, but it turned out not sweet at all. The jasmine tea jelly also sounded like a good idea in theory but tasted so mild in comparison to the actual tea it tasted like jellified water. (Apple Cinnamon Waffle: C) - The biggest disappointment in this dessert was that it was cold. Apple and cinnamon is a sensible flavor pairing where the cinnamon gives the apple some nuttiness. However, because both the waffle and the apple was cold, it was just quite unpleasant and awkward to eat. I came here with my friend after dinner on a Saturday. The dessert spot was huge with many seating. Finding a seat with not an issue. We order the blue ocean coco ade, green apple lime ade, and orange marmalade. The blue ocean coco was very sweet. When I was ordering, I thought ade was lemonade. Therefore I thought the drink was going to be a bit sour; maybe blueberry flavor. But I was wrong, it was a sweet carbonated drink. It almost tasted like one a ramune flavor drink. The green apple lime ade tasted artificial along with it being sweet and carbonated. These drinks should not have been labeled ade. The orange marmalade was a crossiant+waffle=croffle with marmalade jam. I thought the croffle was going to be warm and toasty, but it was cold. The croffle texture was perfect, soft, and fluffy. The marmalade was good, but it got very sweet. I had to scrape off a lot of the jam. The service at this dessert place needs work. The cashier didn't greet, thank, and gave an attitude. Everything was really delicious. Looks can be deceiving. How can something that looks really simple be that good? Let me tell you. The pepperoni crostini was not salty. It had honey drizzle on the bottom and pepper flakes on top. It was a little sweet and salty with a kick of spice. The grape crostini was better than expected. Each grapes were fresh and sweet. The whipped cream was light and airy. Fruit bingsu was perfect. Shaved ice didn't melt too fast so I was able to enjoy each bite with the fruits it came with. Light sweetness and milky flavor. It's cute and bright inside. They also have free lemon water too. Good for a hot day in NYC. They also have an upper level for more seating too. Looking forward to going back. Service was okay. What a cool and chic Boba spot, right in the heart of Koreatown! From the outside, it looks like a narrow opening, but as you go inside, it's much larger. Downstairs you have colorful and cozy seating, there is stadium-like seating, and upstairs seating, with two huge screens where there show K-Pop videos. This place completely passed the vibe check and it's quite clean, which I thought was impressive. But let's talk Boba--I had the brown sugar boba and it was delicious! The boba lives up to the hype, and this desert you see on my pictures on this review (the strawberry banana Belgian waffle-looking desert) was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as well. There was an interesting sweet brown sugary kind of crunch taste to it, similar to what you'd taste in a crème brûlée. Overall, I loved this place and I'm coming back! This is my second time coming here and i can say yhe quality stated the same. The first time i got a aurora drink and a fruit Croiffle. The drink i enjoyed byt the Croiffle with mixed fruit felt a little overwhelming with the whipped cream but overall was pretty good. This time around i got a different aurora drink and an orange marmalade Croiffle these were delicious. The spacr is very spacious and has lots of fun places to sit wherever there is room. The service was quick and easy. You order and get a button to notify you on when your food is ready so everyone is not waiting at the pick up station like crazy. read more
