I've been to Hey Tea twice now, most recently a few days ago for the BOGO deal on their new Triple Supreme Matcha Latte. It wasn't a great experience because of how long the wait was. I also felt bad for the staff who were overwhelmed and super backed up with orders. The drink itself was very underwhelming. The matcha quality wasn't there, and the toppings were just okay. On a different visit, I tried the Coconut Mango Boom, which was really good. The coconut was creamy and the mango was fresh (they're both in season). The toppings also really complement the drink. I also sampled some of the fruit drinks my friends ordered, and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. Definitely stick to the fruit drinks. read more

The place is pretty small but you order your drinks through a kiosk. It displays the calories of each drink and they also offer sugar free options which is helpful if you are looking for a drink that is calorie friendly. The passion fruit tea came with real seeds and was sweetened well with the sugar free sweetener. I would definitely try the other drinks. read more

A recent milk tea entrant, HeyTea has been said to be using high quality ingredients and new flavors and collaborations. One collaboration was with Pop Mart for a tiramisu milk tea or chocolate drink. I decided to try the tiramisu milk tea. I can see the baristas taking their time to prepare the drink, with a good balance of foam, cocoa powder and the milk tea itself. The drink itself was very flavorful, with a more subtle taste of the chocolate and cream to imitate a tiramisu! I did get it on the sweeter side, with the only thing I would like to see is a slightly less sweet version, as the sweetness is either full on or at least half. However, this is a drink that I will love to get as much as possible, though I feel it is just for a limited time. If it's still available, definitely get this tiramisu milk tea!!! read more

The cashier at the counter clearly didn't understand me--or was just completely clueless--and then tried to push me into ordering the 'Cloud Crisp Boom' instead. Quality tea with fresh fruit!! Always love a sweet treat and when in the area, there are a plethora of boba options to choose from. I noticed there was quite a few places opening boasting quality teas, so was excited to try out Heytea. It's located in an apartment plaza (?) area, with the storefront on the main street with some street parking. There is plenty of underground parking too, though. The store is quite small and I've seen pictures of the line out the door, but we came on a Sunday afternoon with no wait :) Their menu is impressive with tons of options for the boba milk tea OGs, matcha lovers, and fresh fruit fans. They even have the option to remake your drink if you're not satisfied with it! We ordered for the fam, so got to try their milk tea, mango coconut, mango grapefruit, and matcha. Ordered all of them with regular sweetness and regular ice, and while I usually don't like too sweet desserts, my fave was the mango grapefruit. The mango's natural sweetness was 100/10!! I've been here a few times and every time the drinks have been really fragrant and tasty. They're not too sweet and you can really taste the flavor of the drinks. However, the serving system is not too good. I ordered a drink, expecting it to be ready after I saw my number ready for pickup, but the staff said it was there, but I had to wait until they fully assembled it. Naturally, I thought my drink was done, but apparently I had to wait extra minutes until they got to my drink. I didn't like this system because I couldn't tell when my actual drink was ready and had to ask again if my drink was finally ready. It's like there's no actual indicator to tell you if it's ready. I was not keen on visiting because I knew what to expect, but we had dinner nearby and wanted to grab tea. Being a Tuesday night before closing, it was still quite busy and I could tell the back and front is well staffed so I give them stars for that. It's just a to-go counter, so no seating or anything. Store is extraordinarily bright. Grab-and-go it is. We got the Mango Grapefruit Bloom, Matcha Coconut Blue something, and the Mango Coconut Bloom. Based off of their popular drinks list, this doesn't seem much of a tea place? I don't know, but all three we ordered were just okay. I wish it was actually a slushie, my Mango Grapefruit was more of a smoothie texture and it tasted a little artificial. We were hoping the Matcha was a little stronger, it tasted a bit sour (?), and then kind of went away once mixed with the coconut blue spirulina. I like the sago and jasmine tea here because it has strong floral flavor and the sago texture is good but there's always something with their logistics. I've had instances where they mark drinks as ready when they're really not because they ran out of matcha cloud and needed to make more, packed the wrong size straw, and recently the app said my order was ready but the cashier said no and it turns out my drink was sitting on the counter the whole time. Delishhhh! Did not know a new location opened up in MPK so had to try it. We ordered the mango grapefruit boom, 50% sweet. It was light, refreshing, and not super sweet. The fruit tasted fresh and it wasn't too much of a slushy texture which was great. The mango taste was stronger than the grapefruit. It was $9 for a large which is a bit pricey but I would say it's pretty worth the hype. The shop is small but they seem pretty efficient. I came around 6pm on a Saturday and there was only about 1-2 people in front. Order online is available which is convenient. I would definitely come back and try the other drinks. We arrived right when the store opened at 11:00 am and were the second customers in line. We placed an in-person order for three drinks, but ended up waiting about 40 minutes to receive them. During that time, it felt like the staff was prioritizing online orders almost exclusively, while in-store customers were left waiting without any clear explanation or time estimate. The overall experience was disappointing. The drinks themselves were average and did not feel worth either the long wait or the price. Found myself a nice little Hey Tea in the MP area. Sad to say customer service was horrendous. Ambiance was a bit sad, then again it was afternoon during a business week so I'm assuming it's more lively on the weekends. Anyhoo, came in for a simple triple supreme matcha latte, it was not packed at all, I was 1 of 2 customer in the store. From the time I paid to the time I got my drink it took nearly 25 minutes. You would think for coming in during a non rush hour would be quick, think again. In that 25 minutes, people start coming in after me and some even ordered after me but somehow they still get their drinks before I do. Understandably there were some online orders to take into account, but when I'm standing there visually seeing the person order multiple drink in person and receiving it first, it irks me. How is it that you can expedite multiple drinks for a walk in customer after me but can't simply make my drink in a first in first out basis? And then a horde of people came in. The cashier literally saw me stood at the pick up by the door for a hot minute. Not only that, the poor girl was being bombarded with customers and having to find change for one group and then run back and forth between calling out drink orders and taking orders. So after reminding them about my drink and receiving it, there's already a good amount of people at the storefront. When I went to taste my drink, I did not taste triple supreme matcha latte. I tasted triple supreme mucho sadness. It tasted room temp and water down with a hint of matcha. I should've went back to ask for a fix but like many of us, I have places to be so I just bit the bullet and be refreshingly disappointed as I sit in traffic. Definitely would not return to this location again anytime soon. Maybe one day, who knows. Maybe one day I'll decide to disappoint myself and pull up here, and who knows? Heard a lot of great things about this place! Tried their matcha cloud and the pure teas-- delicious! Service was very accommodating and very fast, which is highly appreciated. I love boba, and I really didn't want to like this place because of the crowds and lines that I would see when driving by....but dangit, it's really good. PRO TIP: you could order online using their app! Weekdays are typically no lines. Their jasmine milk tea with matcha cloud (I think it's a matcha cheese cloud?) is so good! Again, prior to trying theirs I wondered how good it could be considering that you could find those options elsewhere... but man it's good. I get it less sweet, and so I could really enjoy the quality of the tea and cream top, and it's still perfectly sweet imo. I add boba, and theirs is very good, even though by default they promote their teas more than the toppings, which says a lot. Their mango spirulina coconut drink (it was seasonal) was also sooooo good, as well as their grape tea with cheese foam. Inside, the kiosk wasn't working. Had to wait for the one lady handing out drinks to take my order. She was almost ready to say she couldn't take any orders and to just use the app. Had to tell her my phone was almost dead and couldn't dl the app. She finally took my order (tingde cheese milk tea and supreme matcha). Took about 20 minutes for my order but given the minimal staff, it was not too bad. We just took a slow stroll through the Plaza and came back. Asked for less ice and 100% sugar but got less sugar and 100% ice. Guessing it was too noisy for the lady to hear clearly. The drinks were good nevertheless. Nice cheese flavored foam/milk with the milk tea. Matcha was noticeably tasty. Average price of drinks was $7. No seating and pretty small space inside to order/wait. The order board is not always updated so you might want to ask the lady if you've been waiting a bit. My top three drinks are: - Mango Coconut Boom (refreshing, creamy, mango. the chunks of mango are amazingly ripe, the sago is perfect, and the coconut/mango ratio is on point) - Magnolia Tea Latte (perfectly sweet and creamy, light and refreshing) - Longjing Tea Latte (just too good, their newest edition and i cannot stop ordering it, mildly sweet and creamy) The staff are quick and efficient even though they are dealing with huge volumes of orders and tons of people in that tiny store front. Superr busy location in Monterey Park. Inside space quite small, so you order inside on the kiosks and float outside to wait. Unfortunately, obviously more expensive than it is in China. I'd stop by here once in a while for something novel, but it can make for an expensive daily habit. Supreme matcha - this was pretty good. I'm not really sure why I got it since I don't like matcha that much. I like that it wasn't too sweet save for the matcha foam, and the matcha jelly was nice too. Crispy grape boom - I went through the same doubt to surprise pipeline. Still not sure what a grape boom is, but glad they didn't take the artificial grape route. Very refreshing with grape chunks at the bottom, but still not too sweet (granted I got 50%) They have consistent good options. This is definitely worth checking out (multiple times). The only thing is the HK cafe in the same plaza just got shut down for rats & other pests in their kitchen, and I'm not sure how much that affects businesses in the area.
