Was there just last night. And this morning noticed in my bank account that they charge me three times. I don't get how you can make that mistake three times. Very disappointed. Laid back outdoor atmosphere. Contemporary design. Great service. Great drinks. Very nice place for a casual lunch or dinner. The outdoor setting, with fire pits, and sandy areas are a nice touch, and make the restaurant feel welcoming. The food menu wasn't big, but the food was good. read more

I literally had trouble drinking my latte it was so beautiful. I usually stick with a double shot espresso- black and soulless. But when on vacation... I mean you just gotta live a little! A bunch of us decided to eat here a couple nights ago since we parked at the Laylow Hotel and you get 3 hours validated parking. We went about 6:30pm and we were seated immediately. Most of the seating is outside which was fine since it was such a beautiful night. They also had live music which was nice as well. We had the sweetest waitress whose name is Monet (I hope I spelt that right). Drinks up first and of course I needed to try their Laylow "Hawaiian Style" Mai Tai. Whomever the bartender was put a lot of alcohol in it, which I don't mind, so the drink was good either way. We also ordered a virgin Strawberry Mojito which actually was better tasting than if it did have alcohol in it. The bartender actually messed up on another drink we ordered so we had to wait a little longer on one drink, but Monet ended up giving to us and comping the "messed" up drink as well instead of tossing good alcohol. So yay for free alcohol! For pupus we ordered Kalua Egg Rolls and Crispy Pork Belly, which was really good. The pineapple jam that went with the egg rolls was a nice touch from the normal sweet and sour sauce that you would normally eat with egg rolls. Dinner consisted of the Mainlander and the Kai burger and Ribeye Bulgogi. The Mainlander was juicy (as expected for a medium rare burger) and the french fries was nice and crispy. All in all, I would definitely recommend this restaurant! read more

Nice spot! Food is not impressive at all. We ordered a margarita flat bread which tastes just like frozen pizza. Poke bowl is actually pretty good! The crispy Kalua Egg rolls are good but a little too greasy. Overall I'm a little disappointed about this place. Ps: they stopped serving brunch/breakfast after 11am. read more

My husband and I came up there to check the place out, and we found a nice casual atmosphere and a great place to just sit and have coffee. I don't know how busy it gets. We arrived there around 4 PM, and there were people eating and drinking at the bar. I thought their patio was pretty, albeit empty because it had just rained. Really fun atmosphere with live music & outdoor seating. Great drink selection. Food was alright. Valet at the hotel for free for 3 hours.

We went for happy hour, and I have to say that I was so impressed by both the food and the friendly service. We ordered the burger, the egg rolls, the tuna tacos, and of course the signature Mai Tai. None of these failed to satisfy, and our server, Sienna went out of her way to make our experience the best possible. Should we return to Waikiki, Hideout will be our first stop! read more

Everything about our visit to the Hideout was excellent! We went there on a Friday night, with another couple. The ambience on the rooftop terrace is very hip and intimate- even though it's outdoors. They've done a great job with the different seating areas, fire pits, palm trees and sand areas (like the small one at Tommy Bahamas). Our server was a young man from Hawaii Kai, he said he was hoping to become an engineer if he gets accepted to the school he was applying for, I can't remember his name (this was almost a month ago) but it was unique. Well anyway, this guy deserves an award for being the hands down best server I've ever had! I'm a waitress at a semi-rival restaurant myself and love going out to eat, so I'm no stranger to service standards and the industry in general. He could answer any question we threw at him with poise and professionalism. What he didn't know, he went and found answers for immediately. He was personable, funny, intelligent and well spoken. Never were we searching for our server or sitting with empty glasses, plus we never felt like he was imposing or being annoying by being there frequently. He bussed our table regularly and brought all the extra condiments we needed, and our group loves sauces! Just all around terrific server. We even made a bet with him about the fireworks! He accepted it and even held up his end of the bargain when the winner of the bet had been decided. I wish I could remember his name but surely managers reading this can figure out who I'm talking about and give him some type of reward for his excellent service. A+ Keeping with the theme, the food was also killer. I had a burger and my husband had the pot roast on Okinawan mashed potatoes. It was incredible. I went home and looked up a recipe for those purple potatoes the next day.. mine weren't as good lol. The couple we dined with said the same about the food they ordered as well. We went down the list of drinks over the course of several hours and left feeling pretty darn good. I love that they have a pretty extensive mezcal selection so you can bet I'll be there again soon. This place is so cool! Upstairs away from a the hustle and bustle! I had the delicious fish of the day with coconut rice which was delicious and their mai tai which is hand crafted without the yucky mixes. Ate here last night with my in laws and kids. Very kid friendly or for a friends night out! Most of the restaurant is outdoor seating, so you shouldn't have to worry about not getting one when you make a reservation or walk in. Everything we ordered was delicious! The crispy pork belly, edamame, ahi tacos, spring rolls for appetizers. Then, our entrees were also delicious: the burgers, ono (fish of the day), and the kalua pig rice bowl. My wife and I stayed at the Laylow for our honeymoon and we decided to grab breakfast here one morning before hiking Diamondhead. The special that morning was gravy and biscuits with potatoes and it. was. fabulous. The gravy and biscuits were perfectly seasoned and enough to fill both of us up (though we both eat smaller than normal portions). The potatoes were phenomenal and quite frankly was the best thing I ate in Waikiki. Our server was very friendly and personable and did a fantastic job answering our questions regarding the menu. Our breakfast here was 5/5 and we would absolutely have breakfast there again. read more

We were there for our friends birthday! Even wrote it on the reservation but it was not acknowledged. That's fine, not every establishment acknowledges birthdays. Ordered drinks, expensive and took about 15-20 minutes for each one but they were tasty. Ordered food and that's where it all went downhill. Food came out at extremely different times even though we had each ordered our own and kept on asking where the rest was. After about 30 minutes the food finished arriving with the exception of one flatbread. After about 20 minutes (and us having to flag our server down) did she come to our table and check on us and our orders. We ask if the last flatbread was coming out soon because it's been almost an hour and she says let me check! Another 20 minutes go by and we have to flag down a manager because it's been well over an hour in total (did I mention they were not even 50% full?) and he said he would check on what's going on. She comes back and tells us that another server brought our flatbread to another table and that the kitchen was closed. Obviously we're not happy so she says she would go find the manager. She disappears for the rest of the night until she brings us the bill. The manager comes back and says that the kitchen is closed and that our server thought we only wanted one flatbread. We tell him her story about the "other server running the food." Needless to say he stuttered a little bit because their excuse stories did not match up and offered us some stale chips which the affected persons devoured because Jesus Christ it had been over two hours since we got there! Their resolution was to take 20% off of a couple of items. Hilariously, the girl who didn't get her food still paid full price for all of her drinks. The Aqua Waikiki Wave used to be me and my friends hotel of choice but it was def a little dated so I was excited to see that this swank little spot taking its place. Now I'd only come back if I wanted to ruin somebody's birthday. Which I wouldn't! read more

He didn't even ask how is food or refill water i had to wait for him or tried to grab him just ro get water and bill. Ridiculous. A group of friends and myself came to this bar have drinks and were sat down. A friend of mine ordered his drink and I left to use the restroom. Upon heading to the restroom the manager said to me that may not be able to serve us because we were too loud. When I came back to the table our sever walked over and said that she canceled our friends drink order and that none of us were able to order because the manager didn't feel comfortable serving us and wouldn't give an explanation as to why. None of us were intoxicated, stumbling, knocking anything over. We were all just making jokes between ourselves and enjoying each other's company at a bar. read more

There are pros and cons.. the ambiance, decor and live music were all great here. The menu looked interesting also which is what drew is in. We had about a 20 minute wait for a party of 2 on a Wednesday night. We sat for 5-10 minutes before someone came to bring us water and another 5-10 minutes before someone came to take a drink order. We ordered the Edamame pupu which was delicious. Spicy and great flavor, but not extremely spicy. We also ordered the tiki flatbread and fish of the day rice bowl. The flatbread was very dry, and lacked some flavor. I regretted ordering it. It could be better with some kind of sauce or maybe the crust having something brushed on it. It was a lot of bread and little toppings. The rice bowl had fresh ingredients and the fish was well cooked with good flavor. It could've benefited from some of sauce to add a little flavor throughout. I'm not sure if it's an island thing or they were understaffed but service was very slow, though polite. Food was underwhelming. I would probably return for drinks and to listen to music because it is a beautiful space with a nice ambiance. read more
