This place is super cute and it is not just a coffee shop but they sell super cute greeting cards too. Not many seating options here more of a grab and go place. Very zen feeling place. The coffee just did not do it for me probably because I didn't really know what I wanted. I wanted something that tasted like an iced latte. I think the barista gave me a black coffee with milk. I'm really not too sure but I know alot of people like this place. It just did not do it for me and ai have been to other vietmanese coffee shops in the city that ai have enjoyed more.

My new favorite Vietnamese coffee place. It is SO incredibly charming inside and the staff is super friendly too; you can tell a lot of love and curation was poured into this place, the menu, and the coffee - everything is A+. For the coffee, you can choose how strongly caffeinated it will be (vietnamese coffee is notoriously strong) and how sweet. As a vietnamese coffee lover I tend to go for how it comes here and really enjoy it each time. I love the reminder to sip slow - to really enjoy it and not just inhale it, to let it become a longer part of your day. The crushed ice is the perfect accompaniment to this strong coffee. They also sell little treats and a few artsy trinkets that you can pick up on your way as well. I really really hope this place sticks around for a long time as it's one of my favorite new openings of the year.

Located in Chinatown, this quaint coffee shop offers some of New York's most authentic Vietnamese coffee. The inside of the cafe is small with some seating and a little shop area for you to buy stationary. The owner was an absolute pleasure to talk to and so sweet. Although Vietnamese coffee typically makes me SUPER jittery, I felt that this was a good balance of energy and the strong scent of Vietnamese coffee beans (without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack). I personally love how you have the option for a lighter caffeine version as well as the option to decrease the sweetness level. A bit pricey but worth supporting a small business and having some amazing coffee.

Cà Phê Sữa Đá/Ca Phe Sua Da/Vietnamese Iced Coffee. $8. Pricey but outstanding

I went to this quaint coffee shop, specializing in Vietnamese coffee, a while ago. Along with coffee, they also sell Vietnamese tea as well as some pickles and concentrate versions of their coffee. The woman working here was very friendly, and there was a nice, calming atmosphere and cool aesthetic here. For the price, the location is a bit odd as it is right near a bunch of reasonably priced Chinese spots, though I guess it's on the way to Soho. I went with a Cà Phê Sữa Đá/Ca Phe Sua Da, also known as a Vietnamese Iced Coffee made with condensed milk. There is a full-strength version, which I ordered along with two other options: a low-caffeine and a naturally decaffeinated version. The small iced version is $8 while the large is $12, though that doesn't appear to be on the menu anymore. You can also get it without condensed milk for $6, or with standard milk for the same price, with there also being an oat version for 50 cents more. All menu aside, the ice is crushed, which I didn't mind as it didn't dilute the coffee anytime soon. The coffee was excellent and closest to what I tried in Saigon and Hanoi from the shops I've been to, having a strong but balanced pour. It also wasn't overly sweet from the condensed milk, which is my definite preference for this style of coffee. It felt more like a drink to sip compared to other coffees, almost feeling a bit more special, which made the price a bit more justified. It's quite pricey for Chinatown, let alone Chinatown standards, but the quality of the coffee I had was excellent. I would go back here once in a while, treating myself occasionally like I do at most of the expensive Yemeni coffee shops.

Authentic Vietnamese coffee right in the heart of Chinatown! Hien serves up the real deal, and I love that they offer different versions so you can opt for a lighter option if you prefer

One of the best Vietnamese coffees I've had stateside! Although a bit pricey, I thought it was well worth trying (and plus, I've definitely had worse for much more around here, which I chalk up to NYC pricing). The coffee is smooth, bold, and aromatic, and the crushed ice shape was what I thought made a huge difference to other coffees. I love that you can also adjust the caffeine and sweetness levels. The barista was so friendly and the cafe itself is small yet like a beautifully and well curated little art space. Will definitely be back!

One of my favorite viet cafes in nyc. The owner Christmas is super nice and gave me A great recommendation, which was the classic Vietnamese iced coffee. It was slightly sweet didn't give me a jittery crash and overall very flavorful. I also tried one of her homemade cookies which is also made from Vietnamese coffee beans and it was slightly sweet as well and super yummy. I definitely recommend anybody who's trying this spot for a cozy chill vibe.

The Classic. Medium sweet. Aesthetic place and coffee.

Aesthetic place. Aesthetic coffee. I am Viet and from San Jose. So I have a thing for Vietnamese coffee. My go to when I visit NYC.

I initially was just picking up one of the sweet coffees (cà phê sũa dá) but took a sip and quickly ordered another. Good amount of sweet and strong coffee flavour. Only two coffees really but they are good. Got the coffee in under a minute. Very sweet girl working. Super small store in Chinatown and easy to miss but made for a fun little walk dilly-dallying around

I was in Chinatown early morning and looking for a coffee shop to visit. I saw Hien From Vietnam on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The menu I saw was just two drinks. A classic Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk, and the same classic with the addition of whole milk. I've often thought I would enjoy Vietnamese iced coffee with a little less condensed milk and a splash of whole milk, and here it was on the menu. The flavor of the coffee was fabulous. One of the most delicious coffees I've had. I will say I wish the ice wasn't crushed, it made it hard to drink with my straw. The coffee might have been on of the most delicious, but it was also the most expensive regular sized coffee I've ever ordered at $10.88 (not including tip).

Vibe/ambiance: old school Viet coffee shop with minimal seating (small wooden stools), no bathroom Service: super sweet owner! Items ordered: - Ca Phe Sua Da, decaf ($8) love that they had a decaf option; you can customize the sweetness

Cozy little coffee shop serving delicious classic Vietnamese coffee. The coffee is aromatic and perfectly sweetened with condensed milk. The cafe is tiny but cozy

Just tried Hien's iced coffee, and it was the perfect caffeine jolt I needed. Even the ice is well thought out as instead of cubes, she offers ice a step above shaved so it doesn't melt too quickly. As someone who doesn't like sweet drinks, I don't indulge in Vietnamese iced coffees often, but this was up there as one of the better ones I've had in recent years. Strong, balanced and most definitely hit the spot! I love it here and Hien is always very welcoming . Always a warm smile, nice conversation and she now is starting to offer pastries -- can't wait to try one on an upcoming visit! Thank you, Hien! Always enjoy visiting when I'm in the area.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.

So when my family stumbled into Pho 39, a tiny spot with just a handful of tables tucked away from the chaos outside, it felt less like finding a restaurant and more like discovering a Rebel outpost that somehow survived undetected in the middle of Imperial territory. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a solid Vietnamese spot: pho, combination rice plates, the usual lineup. We were ready to order and move on with our lives. Then we saw the tacos. Vietnamese tacos. On the menu. Sitting right there between the banh mi and the spring rolls like they'd always belonged. Nobody in my family said anything for a full three seconds, which for us is basically a standing ovation. We ordered the duck spring rolls to start, which were fresh, well packed, and disappeared faster than a starfighter in hyperspace. For the mains we went with the beef flank pho and the banh mi combination special. The pho had a clean, well developed broth that clearly had some time put into it, and the beef flank was tender enough to make you slow down and pay attention. The banh mi combo was solid, balanced, and hit all the right notes. We did not get the tacos this visit, which means we have a built in reason to return and nobody can argue with that logic. For a small room in the middle of one of the busiest cities on the planet, Pho 39 manages to feel genuinely calm and focused.
