    Date appetizer
    Krista E.

This was the lowest part of our trip. The food was absolutely disgusting. If we could have sent it all back, we would have but we consumed what we could. The most edible item was the date appetizer, but not worth the price for 5 little dates. We ordered a salad, the half chicken entree, a flatbread and the short rib entree. The chicken was so tough we couldn't cut into it and sent it back, despite our rude waiter trying to gaslight us into believing it should be served that way and we must just not like it. The short rib, which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus looked as if it had been sitting under a lamp for an hour. It was cold, flavorless and the potatoes could literally be picked up in one chunk. The disco sun shareable cocktail was good, but we had to send back the crushed olive martini as well. It was pink and tasted somewhere between a fireball experiment and lighter fluid. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. There should have been some kind of apology but we were met with attitude and disrespect despite a nearly $300 bill for a mostly inedible meal. The prices are INSANE for being so terrible.

Food 10 service 10 ambiance 10. I have nothing but good things to say about this on site restaurant at the Royal Sun Palm Springs... My boyfriend & I had dinner and brunch here and it was amazing. We tried the short rib & the burger for dinner everything was exceptional. For brunch we did the waffle & eggs with potatoes plate again WOW!!! A must try for when you visit Palm Springs. I loved the retro interior design of it all. They did a really good job of renovating..

So happy we found this place. The vibe was casual and relaxed, and the service was exceptional. But to top it off, the food was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Have been wanting to try this bar out for sometime and finally made it in and it did not disappoint. Visited with 3 other friends and we all loved it. The drinks were good and the atmosphere and decor was a vibe. Will definitely go back.

Aesthetic was on point. Food was delish. We got the burger with truffle fries and the short rib. Highly recommend! Chris was super attentive and friendly. Looking forward to coming back.

This spot in phenomenal! The service is amazing and food is so good. I stay at the Royal Sun often and come here for breakfast and dinner! The date parfait is sooooo good it's wild and the shrimp and steak skewers for dinner are wonderful too. Ambience is super nice being cozy, cute, and well lit! I would totally recommend.

The drinks were fantastic, including mine which was a zero-proof mocktail. We all ordered different chicken dishes, and each one received high praise. I was able to try each of them and I was very happy with my fajitas, but I gotta give the nachos their dues. They were just as good. It's a cute space with the greenery, twinkle lights, and plenty of 20th century artwork & photographs. To be honest, I did expect more from the food but I would return to try other menu items. The bread was served piping hot, which is great, but the outer crust was a little too crunchy and hard. The halibut lacked any real flavor while the cacio e pepe had way too much pepper. Naturally the pasta is supposed to have pepper but this was an overwhelming amount and took away from the overall enjoyment of the dish. The mixed salad was fresh and well done though and the deviled eggs were solidly enjoyable. The burger was novelty and juicy. Fries were also fresh and tasted like McDonald's to me (which is a good thing by the way!!). I tried the Garden of the Gods which is a newer gin cocktail on the menu and it was rather refreshing. Of course we had to give the $50 martini a try and it was a kick alright. Turns out, if you order it on 10 occasions then you get your name on a plaque. For $50 x 10 I'd sure hope so! To end the night we finished with a yummy pavlova. Nothing like a little fruit, merengue, and sugar all together. Bar Cecil sent me on a deep dive of Anna Pavlova after that (if you know, you know). While we had higher expectations for the food, this is a cute, trendy place and I'd say, very Palm Springs.

Well this one, located in the Arena area of Palm Springs. Theres no name or signs anywhere. You just have to know where to look. Try opening doors and see which one opens. We were walking back to the car when I noticed the doors. As l had heard so much about it but didn't know where it was. Well lucky me, I opened the door with the first try. I had an idea on where it was but didn't know where. That's where the 4 stars come in. As I had the door open, I could hear from the bar area a gentleman yelling out shut the door. Ok, I get the dark hidden concept but yelling out like that, kind of rude. Do you not want people in. It was about 11pm when we walked in. You enter and it's a dark hallway straight to the bar. That'll be what you see right when you walk in. Place is covered in a dark damask wallpaper and only light are small fixtures. So dark and demure. Bar area is the main attraction with all the seating. There's a few hi tops along the wall as well as some seating in the back area. I'm not sure how big the place is as we only went straight to the bar and sat down. The menu is printed to resemble vintage newspaper. The dark mysterious room with tufted seats and dim lights is what this place is all about. But of course you can't leave out the drinks. Centered of the bar wall, there's Udo Kier watching you. Anyways, down to the drinks. Printed on the newspaper was a perfect touch. I went with the pisco sour and we had the bartender make something else with mescal. An updated smoke and mirror I believe. Drinks were excellent which we expected. The whole place is really dark and mysterious which was a nice touch. It wasn't that busy when we arrived Friday night. A couple of people in the back area which we definitely could hear...lol... There was no list to get in as we just walked in. The only downfall with the rating, the rude remark when we walked in with shutting the door all the way from the bar area. Yes we heard it from outside. There were two bartenders working , but we did chat with one of them and she was a sweetheart. Informed us that they too will be closed down for the summer holiday but will be renovating. Places out here closes at least a month for summer holidays and with the slow season due to the heat. First impression of this place, besides the rude remark was we really liked it. The drinks were great and tasty. It's not super big but more intimate. Can get a little loud as people are talking over each other. Could be the alcohol.... Everyone here from the staff, waiter and waitress, and the owners are all very sweet and friendly. Menu is alway great. You have both the breakfast and brunch menu. We tend to come for them mainly but have never tried dinner here. Of course the bubbly is always a good start. A bottle with three juice options and fresh fruit for adornment. Strawberries and blueberries for the bougie bubbly effect. And for the price, it's worth it. Food wise, we went with the chicken sandwich with salad and the burger with fruit. A side of fries is definitely a must even if it comes with it. Portion for the sandwich was massive. Nice thick piece of grilled and marinaded chicken breast filled with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and avocados on toasted bread. It's massive even when they sliced it in halves. And the burger, two nice patties with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion and bacon. A classic and it was delicious. I'm not a burger person but every now and then a bite is worth it. The food has alway been excellent. Crowd is alway nice and bubbly. It's cute chit chatting with the other guest nearby. The lady at the door told us inside would probably be loud because there were two bigger tables in there. It was hot outside, so we decided to sit inside anyway. We almost immediately regretted that and wished we'd sat outside. This place is not made for being busy on the inside. It's just too loud. But, cute in there. Our server, who we later learned was the bartender and not a usual server, took our drink orders. A few of us ordered the Hugo spritz, one gal got a beer, and a few other cocktails were ordered. We got our drinks and they were enjoyable. The problem began when we were ordering food. One girl in our group is Celiac and literally can not eat gluten. She ordered the salmon and asked to be sure the potato salad was gluten free. If things are fried or prepared in the same place as gluten objects, she is incredibly ill for weeks afterwards. She has to be super careful. His response was, "I think so." She told him she was celiac and had a true gluten allergy, and she needed him to be sure. Meanwhile, the menu boasts about how they proudly serve gluten free options right on the bottom. He then said, "yeah, I'm pretty sure it is." He genuinely did not seem concerned. She ended up ordering it but felt uncomfortable about whether or not it was really safe for her. Another girl at the end of the table asked him to please double check, as it was really a serious allergy. He said, "Yeah I am going to ask the chef. I wasn't going to just ignore it and make all you girls mad." He had the snarkiest tone when he said it, and it was incredibly, incredibly rude. That right there gave us a bad taste in our mouths. He came back out and said he checked with the chef, and it was indeed gluten free. Food came out and all tasted good. But when a restaurant prides itself on gluten free options, and then makes it so hard to order, it's not a good look. We wouldn't be back.

I forgot his name but the bartender was very nice and you could tell he likes his job. We got there and ordered a drink, and we're lucky enough to get a free order of some delicious bread sticks. The drink was very tasty for a decent price, so I would come back for more drinks.

My girlfriend and I were out exploring the area while we were on a quick getaway, and we…read moreencountered the new Kimpton Hotel in Palm Springs. It caught our attention as we had stayed in two different Kimpton Hotels in Seattle prior. We wanted to grab a drink at the Window Bar (not knowing that was its actual name, but the conversation we had with the bartender about that window shining too much light at certain parts of the morning definitely gave me a chuckle in hindsight). We happened to be a bit early since he had not been able to finish setting up shop yet. We went ahead and waited until he was ready without rushing him because we ourselves weren't in any rush at all. Surrounded by a ton of nice interesting artwork, it was a pure joy to enjoy a drink or two in this environment. The bar can be found at the corner on the other side of the hotel concierge in plain sight from such a big space for a lobby, directly left upon entrance through the front. Since it was slow in the morning, we were able to chat it up with the bartender and even explore a bit of experimentation in the form of a particular top secret cocktail that every mixologist knows. I definitely exercised my etiquette and reading the conditions to even suggest it. He couldn't be any nicer about our time with him. So yeah, Christopher H. from 9/9/18, I don't know what you're talking about. I make it a point to visit the bar at any Kimpton location nowadays. I always seem to have a good time. But then again, I can only speak for myself. Parking: Street, unless you're a guest at the hotel. FYI: - Despite the hours on Yelp saying this place is open from 4-10pm, they might open earlier, as we joined in at around 11am or noon. But don't hold me to it. If there's somebody at the bar, you'll need to simply ask if it is open yet.
