Great brunch spot! In & outside patio. Interesting twists on usual brunch fare! Great friendly staff.

I visited this place for the first time yesterday with a friend. I have been hearing that the food was really good. I ordered the grass fed burger and my friend ordered the Caesar salad. The food was good, but the burger was so small like the size of a slider. I found it difficult to pay $9.50 for such a small portion, and nothing on the side except three pickled sliced carrots. Truthfully, the residents of this neighborhood expect much more in portions and extras. I don't think they considered the demographics, or they did and chose to ignore it. This is one of the issues with gentrification. The only saving grace was the salted chocolate chip cookie. Highly likely, I won't be visiting there again anytime soon. read more

Focaccia egg sandwich, exquisite, bodega sandwich, delectable, chai latte, nailed it. This place got it going on. This was the destination of our Sunday cafe ride, and the location is easy to get to with bike lanes escorting us right to the front. There is ample outdoor seating, and a huge garage door if you want to sit at a table inside but still get the fresh air. The servers are friendly, the prices are right, I have nothing bad to say. I mean, from the name, I first thought it was a special kind of California cafe, but I wasn't disappointed. read more

Worst service I've ever had. Don't give them your money. I never leave reviews but I think everyone visiting this place, especially Black and Brown folks, need to know what they're walking into. Starting with the positives, the barista was very friendly and the ambiance and decor are warm/welcoming. Negatives: My friend and I ordered coffees and french fries, but we don't really have the budget to buy the cafe's food as well, so we brought some tamales from home. After I opened a tamale, a man came up to our table and the first thing he said was "What do you think you're doing?" in a very curt and aggressive tone. He then called us rude and disrespectful for eating outside food. I immediately apologized and told him I didn't realize that wasn't allowed because I've eaten outside food at other cafes. He continued to berate us, saying that this was a restaurant and not a cafe and that I must be lying about eating outside food at other places. I told him it was my first time there and it was 9:30 AM so I didn't know it was a full fledged restaurant. My friend then asked if he worked there because he never introduced himself and he said he was the manager and his name was Jose. He then sat right next to us for 45 minutes which made me feel extremely uncomfortable given the way he spoke to us. I totally understand if outside food isn't allowed, but it would've been much more courteous to just tell us that instead of belittling us. I've since gone through other reviews and it seems like Jose has a habit of treating customers this way, especially Black and Brown people (which my friend and I are) which is sad because that's the majority of the people who live in this community. read more

Hands down best Chai latte ever!! Thank you Mike for creating a delicious Chai Latte with the right amount of spicy flavor and very mild sweetness. Perfection! This is how Chai is meant to be enjoyed! This Chai tea is brewed in house from honey infused leaves!! They also have hemp and oat milk!!! I love chai but don't often order it because most places, like Starbucks, use a super sweet sugary syrup with a long ingredient list. Yuck!! Thank you Mike for creating a real Chai Latte!! Heads up that if you want that popular Japanese Breakfast Bowl, but don't eat breakfast until a bit later in the day (I showed up at noon), you're not going to get it. MMmmmkay. If you try and stay away from gluten and dairy, the only options you are left with is the granola, a salad, or their version of chilaquiles (even though they just looked like breakfast tacos). The tortillas are still somehow a mix of flour and corn, which was bizarre but I rolled the dice and went for it. They were fine. It was scrambIed eggs with some sauces and maybe some beans (honestly can't remember) and a quarter of an avocado. I was still hungry even though I spent over $18 on just that and a small glass of black coffee. I get that the non-traditional, trendy breakfast is having a moment, but at least a diner breakfast of bacon, eggs, and potatoes (along with endless refills of coffee) will leave your stomach satisfied for a few hours at a $12 price tag. For what it was, this just didn't seem worth the price or the drive to West Adams. I was really looking forward to trying this place so it was a bummer all around. read more

It makes sense that this place is opened by the people behind Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre. It's exactly the coffeeshop version of those restaurants - style over substance. The coffeeshop looks super cute and is full of trendy looking people but the quality of their offerings just isn't there. I lived in this neighborhood for almost 8 years. This is my second time coming here. I wasn't to keen on there $6 mini latte(i have to say was made perfectly) served with a sour face the first time. Out of convenience, and hopes the girl was having a bad day. I came back again. The cashier literally looks like someone s*%! In his cheerios. I can hardly hear a word he is saying. Only to laugh and smile amongst other employees. Umm, excuse me I just paid $34 for a latte and two avocado toasts. Can I get that with a smile?! I know I don't have to come here and I won't again. I have yet to try their food. I know a lot of people have their opinions on it. My thoughts are based SOLELY on their hot sauce. I'll be back to give a review when I actually have more than 1 bite of their bagel sandwich, which by the way was definitely an experience of it's on. On to the actual sauce, if you are looking for something that's not sriracha, Tapatio, Cho lu la or Lao gan ma, this will be the next one to add to your zeitgeist of goto hot sauce. First of all if your first response is "oh what about tobasco? That's a good hot sauce" gtfo. I'm not talking about weak flavorless vinegar here. This hot sauce is just a different dimension. Its texture is like a salsa with a orange-y red hue and has all these beautiful blend of flavors that makes it somewhat tropical and bright. You're probably reading this and wondering who tf would talk about hot sauce like this and if you've gotten this far you're probably thinking of a hot sauce subscription yourself. I'd highly suggest getting a bottle and trying it yourself. It goes well with everything - rice, pastas, stir fry, sandwiches, noodles, tacos, steak, fried chicken and everything in between. Highly Likely was one of the very first places I visited when my wife and I moved to the neighborhood. The space is nice, the food is good, and the team is friendly. The menu is somewhat limited, but that's okay. I don't see it as a place where I would frequent for lunch or dinner. To me, it's more of a cafe where I can get good coffee drinks and have the option to order food. I also want to give kudos to Highly Likely for doing a lot to make it work during the pandemic. There's actually a lot you can order, including family meal kits, fresh vegetables, etc. All in addition to their current menu. read more

We could have picked a different place in Downtown LA, but we saw how aesthetic this place was and it was recommended by an instagramer user I follow. Service/Vibe: I definitely do not recommend this place to get any studying down or have a conversation with anyone. The music is way too loud to be able to hear the person. Also, I can see what the other yelpers were saying how the employees did not provide exceptional customer service. Food/Drinks: Way too overpriced. I have had better lattes from other cafes who had a decent price. The prices did not match the ambiance of the place. I only gave it a 2 because the place is really cute and aesthetic. read more

Finally decent coffee on the block. This place is new, so they have a few kinks to work out. The line is always long, they should consider adding another register and/or have the barista ask peeps in line for their drink order to start prepping that. Coffee drink sizes are small and they are always out of something (first time I went they were out of almond milk, second time out of oat milk). I ordered a kale salad which was beautiful and highly instagrammable, but low key lacked flavor (maybe needs a dressing you can taste or salt?). But these are all things that can be fixed. And again, they are new so I'm sure they are still figuring out what's working and what's not. Happy to have y'all on the block. I just want to start with if it were only based on the food, this regular haunt of ours would get 5 stars without a doubt. However since reopening their dining, the staff couldn't possibly be more miserable, it is obvious they hate their jobs and have some level of animosity toward the owner. The order taker was rude and dismissive, a simple order was messed up three times. They forgot to bring the beverages, they didn't supply any utensils, I practically had to get them myself. I am happy that Highly Likely is open during Covid because they offer very tasty, healthy food. I want to love HL unconditionally, but time and again I feel a bit disappointed by the value. I recently ordered a "saltie" sandwich, which is delicious. But when I received my sandwich it was just one half of a sandwich (not a full sandwich with two halves), for $13. I separately purchased a bag of chips and a kombucha - which was $11. I would rather be charged $15 for a really tasty, full size sandwich. I think HL is overpriced, but I come back once in a while when I feel like having an expensive lunch because their food is good quality and tasty. read more

I would not have expected this place to be at the location it was in, but it was a nice surprise for sure! It feels like a high ceilinged ware-house type place but they serve coffee, tea, desserts, food, alc, etc. I had gotten a lemonade+green tea drink which was good but nothing special, and my friend got a latte and we shared some stuffed donuts and a brownie. The stuffed donuts were OK with nice creamy custard inside but the brownie was pretty phenomenal, not too heavy and moist. Nearly like the texture of a flourless choco cake. There's ample space inside and outside, the vibe is nice and chill, pretty hipster. I took one star off because I thought it was slightly pricey and I was sitting next to an indoor tree but the leaves were pretty filthy from dust and other stuff. First time at Highly Likely. Selections are good, running for the current prices of restaurant fare. The pastry case looks amazing. All the food at the table was just a little under seasoned (we noticed other patrons picking up the salt & pepper grinders). The fries were really good and, surprisingly, didn't require extra salt. A table mate really enjoyed the "shakshuka" -- a curried chickpea dish with 2 eggs on top. HL won't be our first choice to return to when we're in the mood for a $35+ breakfast or lunch (without drinks). read more

I was originally apprehensive because who charges $12 for avocado toast in West Adams? But truth be told, I've never had a bad dish here and the quality of ingredients is superb. My favorites are the Lil Chicky (I drool thinking of the milk bread) and Highly Burrito (drenched in their tasty house-made hot sauce). However, things start to add up once you realize that the $15 chicken sandwich doesn't come with fries--that'll be another $4. Throw in a Coke, add tax and tip, and you've spent $30 at a place where seating isn't guaranteed. Speaking of which, I'm begging management to ban laptops on weekends--not just cut off the wifi. During the last two times I've stopped by, half of the 2 and 4-top tables were taken up by people on their laptops with a single drink for hours. My party of four arrived, ordered, ate--and the same people were still on their laptops sipping their same coffees as we were leaving. The frustration of swooping a table has been an active deterrent from returning more often. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's my go to spot most mornings for coffee and favorite brunch spot with friends on the weekends! One thing I will say, that isn't raving, is that prices feel a bit steep for the neighborhood and for dishes in general... its hard to spend under $30 for a small plate and drink. I understand they are trying to be trendy, but it really seems to isolate many of the neighborhood clientele. That is not to say the food isn't good! The real reason I come back day in and day out is the amazing staff! Every person that works there is friendly and you can tell enjoys the work they do and the people they work with. It makes for a very warm and fun environment. I am greeted with smiles and by name every time I walk in and I have come to feel a part of the HL community. The staff remembers my line of work and is always asking how things are going and remembers my go to drink. They are always on top of checking in on you while you eat to make sure you don't need anything or to clear away space if plates are empty. Since I tend to go in the mornings, the typical staff there are, Arielle, Summer, Julianna, Myra, Jamie, Carolina, Julia, Hannah or one of the Mikes. But honestly, everyone there is amazing and beautiful and kind. All in all, go there for the staff, but enjoy the food and coffee as well - now that they have the cover outside its perfect. read more

I've been to Highly Likely at all times of day. Service is always excellent. Once in a while they're out of something or busy so the order might take a bit longer, if you're mad about that please go to Starbucks and live in mediocrity. Highly Likely serves the neighborhood and the developing arts community equally. I went to their pop up dinner hosted by "The Bad Jew", it was damn delicious. Their GM is there all the time, calling in supply orders, helping staff and customers, bussing tables, smiling at little kids, petting dogs, this guy is a gem. Having owned a restaurant and live music venue in the past, I just want to say, before you leave a bad review, try talking to someone working at the establishment. They really care about this place and it's the hardest business to be in. Be kind and support small businesses. read more

We tried Highly Likely's Sunday Supper and it was phenomenal! We've tried several takeout meals to heat at home including n/naka's and this one was by far the best and most affordable! The meal included the following: Miso Tangerine Black Cod over a Whipped Coconut Garnet Yam, with a Spicy Cucumber Salad with Crispy Rice. End the meal with a Crunchy Meringue with Yuzu Curd and Fresh Market Fruits. read more

I visited this cafe Sunday 03/03/2019 for breakfast. I have lived in 90016/90018 my entire life. I love seeing new businesses and new diverse food choices opening up in my community. But these changes should not come at the cost of the residents already in the community. I was rather excited to visit this location, many people had recommended it. And I am sure that the food and coffee is good. But when I was there not a single employee was a person of color. Your staff should reflect the community you wish to integrate with. When you open a business in a community where 87% of its members are people of color you should insure that you support the community by providing these individuals with jobs. Seeing this made me uncomfortable and I left. I'm sure people from outside the community will continue to support this business, but as long as there is such an obvious lack of diversity, I will take my business elsewhere. read more
