Once the only place to get teriyaki in all of Seattle, now it's nothing more than a distant afterthought. Prices have significantly raised over the years. Turning what was once a 8 dollar lunch into a 15 dollar lunch. That would be fine under normal circumstances considering I've been eating here since they opened around 2008. But the quality also seems to have gone down. Don't really understand why the chicken is all fatty, the rice undercooked or old, gyozas reheated in the microwave. We get takeout from here all the time. The place is clean with nice decor. They have free egg drop soup (delicious) and filtered water. My boyfriend always gets the chicken teriyaki or spicy chicken teriyaki, which are excellent. I like their chicken or tofu yakisoba, which have great flavor and are large enough for two meals. On the other hand, I've gotten their katsu bento box with shrimp tempura and wasn't wild about either one. The katsu was over-fried and the shrimp "tempura" was like fried shrimp you could get in the frozen aisle, not with tempura batter. I also tried their kung pao chicken, which was battered and fried and had a too-salty spicy-sweet sauce. It was more like orange chicken than kung pao. I give them four stars for being a cheap, decent neighborhood takeout place, but the food quality varies. read more

My wife and I frequented this restaurant at least once a month for 10 or 15 years. One day when my wife was quite ill I stopped in to pick up just some steamed rice (that's all she felt like eating) however they would not sell such a small order to me even though it was shown on their menu. As Troy McClure would say, "Sure I love you baby! Like love Fresca!" I love this place. Some teriyaki places are greasy and gross. Not Himitsu Teriyaki. It's good, reliable chicken teriyaki. The price is OK, the product is OK, the place is OK. A couple things set this teriyaki place apart from other teriyaki places are, first, free soup, which is nice. Also, they give you a nice green salad instead of some Asian slaw. I kinda like the Asian slaws so the salad thing is kind of a neutral. Over all Himitsu Teriyaki is a good solid A-OK. read more

Eat here all the time, they are so nice and you get free soup while you wait! Standard Teriyaki fare but you do get quite a bit of everything. Plus the salad comes in a different to go container so the hot stays hot and the cold stays cold. read more

Ok, I am a self proclaimed Teriyaki junkie. I have traveled the Seattle area, constantly searching for the best spicy chicken/salad combination. I've been known to drive 30 minutes out of my way to get my favorite kind too. Well...there is a new favorite in town! This is HANDS DOWN the best spicy chicken I've had. BEWARE: there are new owners. I use to love eating here and came on the regular but now every time I've been there lately it's absolutely terrible. The salad dressing is nothing short of a gross watered down ranch dressing and the house special fried rice which use to be one of my all time favorites has now became the worst I've tried and the spicy chicken, well lets just say it has seen better days. i'd rather not try anything else off the menu so i can remember how it use to be. what a shame. I used to work here as cashier before quitting a few weeks ago. I have never wrote a review on Yelp before, but I felt the need to make an account to leave one for Himitsu. (Make no mistake, this is 100% MY honest and completely unbiased review of the restaurant, the owner, and the employees.) I quit working here (due to someone in my family becoming ill) very suddenly and without notice. It was highly unprofessional of me, and I apologized to the owner and told him that I'll be OK with a partial paycheck since I negatively impacted him and the business. However, being the respectful person that he is, he paid me in full and did so without ever once raising his voice or becoming disrespectful towards me. He treats not only his customers right but also the employees with utmost respect as well. He would buy us pizza from next door several times a week and bring us desserts as well to show appreciation towards us. Also, the employees in the kitchen work very hard, and they are all very, very kind. Really. I wish they were appreciated more. I felt guilty for receiving all the "Thank you!" and "Your guys' food is delicious!" compliments when it should really be them in the kitchen to be receiving these. Now on to the food, the only meat I eat is chicken, so I don't know what the beef, pork, or short ribs are like to be honest. But the chicken is phenomenal here, and when it's not too busy, an order of chicken teriyaki literally takes a minute to prepare. No joke. In regards to the other dishes I've tried here, I would usually eat tofu fried rice or tofu yakisoba for lunch (in which the main cook in the kitchen would kindly prepare for me), and man, SO GOOD. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'd only be able to finish half since the portions are HUGE and would have to pack the other half in a to-go box to take home for later. OH, and the soup! ABSOLUTELY delicious. So many customers have complimented on how good the soup is here. Believe me, it really is delicious. Lastly, the owner likes to keep everything in the restaurant as clean as possible. I thought I was a clean freak; wait until you meet the owner (I mean this in a good way). I take great pride in being a clean freak, and I thought I did a pretty good job at maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant. Nope. Not according to the owner's standards. He would always clean even after I have done so, because he'd never be completely satisfied with the way I clean. In short, it's clean here, and it will always be that way. All in all, Himitsu Teriyaki is a restaurant where good food is prepared promptly and deliciously by good people who work very hard and are very, very kind. My go to teriyaki place. First off it's always nice getting FREE egg drop soup. The serving portions are always on the plus side, especially the yakisoba. I would highly recommend the chicken kastu, as it's something you usually don't always have. The teriyaki is solid. Coming here and spending less than 10$ for lunch is always a huge plus! read more

This place is right on my way home from work and is easy to get in and out of, and usually has a good parking spot available, so I come here a lot. The prices are reasonable and I think they use real chicken (rather than the pigeons that some teriyaki places around here evidently use) lots of meat and very little fat. This is a great little place on Lake City Way that uses fresh ingredients and won't start making the food until you order it. They offer a wide selection of food from delicious stir-frys to yakisoba, fried rice, wonton soup, and several chicken, beef, and pork dishes. The price is very reasonable for the quantity of food, I usually get 2-3 meals worth out of one order and you do not have to wait too long for your food to be ready. While you wait, they offer complimentary soup and a relaxing atmosphere to sit in. They offer dine-in and take-out options, this place is a great healthier alternative when you are busy and do not have a lot of time to cook your own great tasting meal, would definitely recommend to anybody!! read more

I've been a regular customer at this place for a couple years. Overall, since the management changed, I have had mixed reviews, but generally I think it's been pretty good. The first time I went was OK. Seemed like the store owner changed the menu a little. Soup was a little different and the salad dressing had changed as well. I felt like it was a mediocre experience. Few days later, I decided to give it a second chance, especially since I live so close. I think I was much happier with my second visit. I got the sense that the new owner was starting to get things under control. Restaurant seemed pretty busy and people seemed generally happy with the food. Overall, I think the quality of the chicken improved, even from the previous management. I thought it was cooked nicely and soup was decent, too. Note that prices went up a little bit. I still think it's decently priced and I'll probably go back next week to check out other dishes as well. read more

Nice teriyaki place. Spicy chicken teriyaki is my favorite. Portions are pretty big and the regular size plates come with plenty of rice as well as a salad; it will definitely fill you up. I believe they also offer lunch smaller sized portions. Also, free soup you can have if you are waiting for your meal to be completed (whether you are dine-in or to-go). Anybody who did not give Himitsu a 5 star review must be oblivious to what good teriyaki taste like. Me and my buddies can always count on Himitsu to deliver a yummy sensation in our mouths. I've never not enjoyed my meal. Wether its yakisoba, teriyaki chicken, gyoza, egg roles, fried rice, or even the salad, it all taste like a little chunk of heaven. I confess I have fallen off the teriyaki bandwagon as of late, but occassionally I find myself itchin' for that spicy chicken. Besides having a really good, decently spicy dish at Himitsu, their selection of sushi rolls is also very impressive. It's no five star sushi joint but the rolls are well crafted and the fish is fresh. The prices are pretty standard and the portions of the teriyaki are as massive as we have come to expect from the teryiaki boom. Himitsu is a good run of the mill teriyaki establishment. The portions are average and the taste is a bit bland unless chalked full of teriyaki sauce. They didn't serve quite as much rice as I'd like and because I was starving this really was exemplified. The one thing I will note that makes this place stand apart from some teriyaki places is the self serve soup pot. This is really enjoyable and free while dining in or waiting for your food. I'd love to see this be a trend at other places it's a great perk and about one of the only things to me that makes Himitsu stand apart from others! read more

I've passed this restaurant dozens of times and finally stopped to have lunch. Wow, did I ever discover a great little teriyaki restaurant. The Spicy Chicken was the best I've ever eaten. The chicken was freshly stir fried, the sauce was delicious, the portion was generous including the rice. I'm looking forward to taking my husband here because he loves Spicy Chicken and he was disappointed with this dish at the last teriyaki restaurant. I may try the Yakisoba next because one of the reviews mentions that this is also a great dish. Too bad I have to watch my weight or I'd eat here more often.
